Forsaken

They thought they knew who the enemy was…

When the Vatican extends an official invitation to Artemus and his allies to visit Rome, Artemus is wary of their intentions. Especially since the demon inside Drake has turned out to be one of Hell’s strongest princes, while Otis’s newly awakened powers means he is their most powerful tool against Hell’s army. Heading for Rome despite his misgivings, their arrival precipitates a series of attacks that soon has them questioning everyone around them.

Daniel Lenton is a shadow. Afflicted by a disease that weakened him as a child, the priest has dedicated his life to the church and wants nothing to do with Artemus and his friends. Not when such an association would risk exposing the lie he wants to keep buried. But when an ambush rouses Daniel’s beast to defend him against a monster, he is left with little choice but to embrace who he was born to be.

After the precious cargo they are hired to protect is attacked by demons, Serena and Nate are convinced that Ba’al is after something hidden among the artifacts bound for an exhibition in Rome. The last thing the super soldiers expect when they arrive in the city is to come face to face with their past.

As a new and formidable foe grows closer, Artemus and his allies must decipher the mysteries that await them in Rome, help a guardian find his key, and uncover the location of the next gate to Hell, all before Ba’al destroys the Holy See.

As the series continues it just keeps getting better and better! Artemus and friends are headed to Rome and the home of the pope. This pope is different from all the rest! I will only say the pope is immortal and plays an interesting role with the father of Artemus and Drake. You will met the mothers of both boys and learn more about their story.
What is very interesting is the new addition to the group! Yes, there is a new person who is very interesting. When I think about his role as a guardian of a gate he brings to mind the story of Daniel and Goliath. Daniel is a priest who is very interesting and in some ways does not want to be with the group but the pope has decided he should be part of the family.
There is plenty of action with the demons doing their part. Romance is still in the air and there is plenty of humor. I give this story at least 10 stars and look forward to the next book! Yes, there will be another because the diaries of Otis’s mother have been deciphered with the help of the immortal, Jackson. Few surprises come from that area as well!

Not only is the fourth book in the Legion series as as fast paced and action packed as the previous ones, but it is incredibly funny at times too (bunny slippers; epic!) We’re introduced to some wonderful new characters, and reintroduced to some old friends from the Seventeen series too. Loved the book and really can’t wait for book five

I was excited to see so many of our old friends from the “Seventeen” series. There was one quibble though. It was claimed that a character was an immortal/human hybrid. That of course is nonsense. The reason he doesn’t age like a human anymore is because of the transfusion he received. That seemed like a bizarre thing to get wrong. We finally get to meet the Pope we kept hearing about. I loved her! I like how in only a couple of decades the Church has come into the 21st century. We all know that will in fact never happen. The Church will always be centuries behind the times. Still it was cool. The guardian we meet is my favorite so far. I was slightly disappointed that the author didn’t do the historical notes as she did in “Seventeen”. This was the first book in the series where there was any historical information. I was a bit put off by Callie and Nate’s rudeness. Remember Kim Cattrall’s character from “Porkys”? They need to put a sock in it. As usual the story line moved fast with plenty of action. From the last bit I’m guessing the next book is going to show us the girl that Artemus has been dreaming of since he was a kid. It’s too bad. I know everyone teases that Haruki and Artemus are married because of the ceremony Haruki’s father did. I had held out hope that that would actually become a thing. My only major complaint I’ve had with both series is the lack a LGBT+ representation.

The Legion saga continues and the gang of paranormal fighters and villains continues to grow. The action is fast paced, sometimes breathtaking. Artemis seems to still be mystified by the fact is he is almost, well mostly, in charge as the epic war between gods and demons accelerates. There’s now a real crossover with some of the characters in AD Starrling’s Seventeen series. You may find it helpful to read that series as well since it’s now apparent that the central story lines of both series are intertwined. The writing, as always, is deft and thoughtful, with just enough humor to allow you to catch a breath as you hurtle along. I can’t recommend these books enough. And wait till you meet the Pope!

Forsaken (Legion, #4), my twenty-first read from author A.D. Starrling. With each book she writes she further expands the work already created. The fourth book of her new, related series. Extremely well written, the characters, well developed. I’m a character reader, I get into the characters. Who and what they are. Why they do the things they do. The things that make a reader get invested into the characters and thereby the book and this book has it all! I look forward to reading more in this series and from this author. I was given a Kindle copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Ok, so I love Starrling, ever since I got snagged in the seventeen series I stop what I’m reading to pick up her latest and best...biased, nah.
I will state that this book is my favorite now in this series, Starrling keeps you engaged and turning the pages, yes causing me to read myself awake yet again. I enjoyed Legion (book 3) but it was no (book 4( Forsaken, sucked in, driven, action, plot swing, unexpected new additions...yep I like it!
Jump in, Starrling will keep you enthralled!
Kudos Anjanee, thank you for sharing your imagination!

This amazing series continues to go from strength to strength. Our heroes are heading to Rome for an audience with the pope, who is unlike any pontiff you have known. We also meet some new characters and also cameos from characters some may remember from Seventeen. The plot as always has many twists and also some emotional moments, that's not to say this author hasn't neglected to include their usual humour and wit alongside some definite romantic vibes.
Loving this series and now heading off for the next book.

Artemus and the gang are off to Rome to meet the Pope, even though Artemus is concerned about the trip. Shortly after their arrival, they're ambushed. New country but the same old enemy, only now they have a new member of the group. As in the two books, there's lots of action, suspense and humour all wrapped up in a fast paced plot that just draws you into the story. Looking forward to the next book.

Action packed and full of snarky humor! Another fantastic addition to the Legion series. The "Family" gets a new member and hell breaks loose, literally! Just another day for Art and the gang. What could possibly happen now? I love the chemistry and the friction, not to mention the humor involved when fighting foes. You must read this one, so many unanswered questions get solved!
*I received an advance copy of the book and I strongly suggest you read it!

Fantastically addictive
There’s not a lot that I can say that I haven’t said before about the Legion series.
They just keep getting better and better.
We get to meet the mother of Drake and Artemus, we also get to meet Artemus’s dad.
Alexa King joins our famous motley crew as we head into Rome, mainly for the purpose of visiting the Pope, who is anything but Popely. The Vatican is not all it seems and here we meet our newest recruit. We meet some formidable heavenly angels, ones who are at the very fore front of this amazing series.
BRILLIANT
I thoroughly enjoyed it and of course can’t wait for the next instalment.
Do you ever finish a book and you feel deflated, because it’s great and you want more so you feel your in a slump? This series has the totally opposite affect on me, I’m on a high and smiling and can’t wait for the next book out.
LOVED IT.

Wonderful well-written storyline that is action packed, fast paced, and has great main characters. Our Heroes are developed, are fighters, have friction and snark. Some questions are resolved but more answers are needed, great fight scenes, and humor, with some crossover from the Seventeenth Series. I loved this book. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

Archangels, a goddess & old friends

True identities of the parents of some, a female pope, a trip to Rome and more demons round out this installment. This is a kickass series, where women are no simmering in venues but active alongside the men. When you throw in romance & humor it makes the perfect blend.

really good

Im really enjoying this series and how the storyline is progressing. The writing and action is excellent and keeps you sucked right in the story. I just wish the attempts at humor would stop. That being said, the story still deserves a 5 star. I loved seeing 3 of our immortal characters from the Seventeen series in this one too.

Another Great entry in the series. I always worry that with series like this that things will get, stagnant, and to formulaic; so far the series has avoided the worst of it by continuing to grow the characters in meaningful ways while expanding the universe in ways that are interesting while embracing the literary "tropes" that make fantasy fun but never over-doing it. Such a fun read

I was given an ARC to read and I loved it! The gang is invited to the Vatican which everyone is hesitant about accepting but in the end they do go and their new adventure begins. The action and sarcastic humor is nonstop since as soon as they land in Rome the demon attacks commence. The reader is introduced to the pope. who I loved. and they find a new member to their group. The book also answers a lot of questions with regards to Artemus and Drake’s parents. For anyone who is looking for a good book to read I strongly recommend the Legion series.

Artemus and the team head off to Vatican City. Bahl are getting stronger but a divine beast awakens in time to help with the latest demonic battle. Plenty of action and humour that kept me reading. The Pope is an absolute scene stealer. Great addition to an already brilliant series.

This book has it all. Demons, immortals, hellhound, super soldiers, angels, and Artemis. This group search for a theology professor (Sebastian). Sebastian is a strait-laced English man. He doesn’t understand the current slang. It has humor and companionship and will fight to the death.

I can't even begin to say hw good these books are

Funny, great world and character building. You'll laugh and cry. And believe a little in magic and the binds that draw people together as family.

Great story

As the adventure continues, we see a new guardian appear. I do enjoy the snarky humor as the team are facing demons and monsters, yet still joke around! Love this series!

One of the best series I have read

One of the best series I have read, kept my interest and made me laugh at the the humor lightly dispersed though the books. Definitely a must read!
