The beginning of this book was ROUGH with a capital "R." The time jumps were incredibly annoying. One minute the heroine is seventeen, then boom it is years later, and her husband died. At that point she and hero somewhat reconnect, she finds out she is pregnant...and the next chapter...the kid is four years old and the hero has been in their lives for the entire four years as a friend. Considering how short this book was, a little more fleshing out was sorely needed!

description

That said, after the hot mess that was the first 20% of this book, it did get quite a lot better. Maybe not as emotional as I was expecting, but it was good. Denver was your typical ARR hero. Alpha. Sexy. Sweet. Celibate for four years. I loved his interactions with Lyra. Aubrey was extremely annoying for a good portion of this book, but once she got her head out of her a$$ I warmed up to her. I didn't find it particularly spicy, but we get a couple of sex scenes. There wasn't any OW or OM drama. It had an enjoyable cast of secondary characters, and it was all wrapped up in a few extremely sweet epilogues.

description

So yea, I ended up enjoying it. But like I mentioned above, the first 20% of this book was a complete mess. The story needed to be fleshed out SO much more than it was. The author threw away a perfect opportunity to tug at our emotions with Gabe's death. She also threw away the chance to create more depth in the relationship between Denver, Aubrey, and even Lyra. Denver was in their lives almost daily for FOUR YEARS, and we don't get ANY pages devoted to that time?? I wanted needed more story to buy into this grand love each had for the other since the age of 17, especially since they never even dated!

I've been in love with the idea of this story from the moment I've read a sneak peak at the end of Wide Open Spaces. It left me breathless and with tears in my eyes. I simply knew that Aubrey and Denver's story has tremendous potential and that it's going to end up being my favorite book in the Shooting Stars series. It's a beautiful, touching second chance romance. I already cared so deeply for these two and couldn't wait to find out why Bre ended up with another guy despite all her feelings for Denver. Aurora Rose Reynolds didn't hold back - she made the two protagonists work for their happily ever after. There were some misunderstandings and false perceptions that needed to be clarified in order to move on. But in the end Aurora rewarded us for all the heartbreak with a love story written in the stars.

Aubrey had a crush on Denver since she was a teenager. Their parents have been good friends and that's why they often spent time together. There was always a strong pull between them that they were too frightend and young to explore. So Bre got together with someone else.

A few years later Aubrey and her husband find out that he is terminally ill. Gabe, thankful for the shot at happiness he had with his wife, will wish upon a star for Aubrey to move on and find love again. He also asks Denver to look after Aubrey when he is gone. She soon finds out after her husband's passing that she is carrying his child. Through all these years of loss, grief and later joy over the baby her family and Denver are the strong shoulders she can always lean on. When Denver decides that the time has come to claim Aubrey and Lyra as his and to make his biggest wish come true will Bre be ready for it and willing to acknowledge her suppressed feelings for him?

Aubrey loved Gabe and she was content with their life together. But she never felt this bone deep happiness and completeness she now feels with Denver. He is able to ignite her body and soul and with him she finally has everything. And this makes Bre feel quilty and ungrateful. Like she's not honoring her late husband's memory. Denver understands Bre's inner conflict. He never wished to erase Gabe from her and Lyra's life. Denver knows that this was the way their story was meant to unfold in order to appreciate their blessing and never take each other for granted.

I absolutely adored Aubrey and Denver together. They were simply made for each other. I also loved their interactions with Lyra who was such a sweet and bright little girl. Once again Aurora has shown us the power of love, the importance of family and the strength of a mother’s devotion to her child. She did a fantastic job with the last book in this series and I'm so sad to say goodbye to Cordova. These stories will forever have a special place in my heart thanks to this author's amazing talent. I'm giving this gem 5+ stars!

I wanted to read One Last Wish from the moment I've read the blurb at the end of Wide Open Spaces. All I knew was that the book will be about Aubrey and her life after loosing her husband. I had so many questions that needed to be answered. And believe me, they were. But the most important one among them was why Aubrey actually ended up marrying her best friend Gabe instead of her big crush Denver.

Going into this story, I was already prepared for heartbreak. But I totally underestimated how much this amazing book will get to me. Even now, while I'm writing my review I have tears in my eyes and goosebumps all over my body. I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that my feelings went through several different stages during the reading process. They switched from sad and devastated to hopeful and excited. I love it when a book consumes me like this. But most of all, I love how Aurora's books always leave me with a huge smile on my face! Her words are food for my heart and soul.

When Aubrey finds out that her husband Gabe has only months to live she is beyond devastated. Every night she watches him sitting under the star-filled sky, wishing upon a star for her to be happy again and find the strength to move on. But for Aubrey his wishes seem pointless, because she could never be happy without him. But before Gabe is gone for good, he leaves Aubrey with a little piece of him. Grieving the loss of her husband, she will raise their daughter Lyra with the help of her parents and Denver. The guy she had a secret crush on since childhood. When old feelings start to resurface, Denver and Aubrey will be forced to solve some unresolved issues between them. Will Gabe's final wish come true? Can Aubrey find love and happiness again?

Let me swoon here a little about Denver. That guy was a real dreamboat. He moved heaven and hell to prove to Aubrey that he is the right guy for her. I loved how he respected her feelings for Gabe and never talked bad about him. He just wanted her to give them a chance to be happy together. As a true alpha, he knew what he wanted and didn't let anyone or anything come between that. What impressed me most about him was how much he loved little Lyra with every fiber of his heart and was not afraid to show it.

Aubrey was an amazing young woman. She suffered terrible loss but never gave up fighting. She really loved and respected her husband Gabe. My heart broke for her when she lost him. I just wanted to hug her and tell her that she is so brave! I was so relieved that she gave Denver a chance, because they made so much sense together. There was such a strong and undeniable pull between them. Their love was written in the stars!

As a huge fan of Aurora Rose Reynolds I know that she always tries to give her readers the best stories. And with this book she absolutely succeeded in that. I could feel how much love and effort she putted into writing One Last Wish, knowing how much her fans are excitedly waiting for it. I can say without a doubt that this book is a top favorite of 2018 for me! Now I'm sad to see this amazing series coming to and end. But let me tell you this: I will keep looking out for a shooting star in order to make a wish for Aurora to return to Cordova, Alaska one day so I can meet my beloved characters, that always felt like friends to me, again. 5+ shooting stars!

4.5 ‘ Written In The Stars’ Stars

WOW! THIS BOOK! What an absolutely PERFECT ending ribbon to wrap up this emotional and heart touching series!

Second Chance Romance is a trope that very seldom works for me as a reader, with how demanding I am with my characters, lol, but I can honestly say Ms. Reynolds completely blew me away with Denver and Aubrey’s story!

One kiss would change everything, my whole world.

We begin to get to see Denver and Aubrey as teen, and how much they were already drawn to one another, but something happens, misunderstanding and decisions are rushedly – and immaturely one could say even – made, which lead to a separation of more than a decade, in which Aubrey led a somewhat happy and loving life with her best friend Gabe, and Denver stayed away for everyone’s best interest. Now, one phone call from Aubrey’s dying husband to Denver, and a promise made and wished upon, everything set on a new course… After some time for healing, that is…

“What are you going to do?”
“I’ll tell you what I’m not going to do. I’m not going to wait around for her to be taken from me again.”

I must confess that at first the four year jump after Gabe’s death kind of threw me of, but after a bit, and specially after witnessing Aubrey’s state of mind, I believe it was a very clever move from Ms. Reynolds, so that we don’t get lost in Aubrey’s mourning and loss of her husband, and focus on Aubrey and Denver’s romance. After that time, Aubrey had time to heal and we see her ready – at least kind, of, lol – to start moving forward.

Meanwhile Denver has been a ever present feature in her and Lyra’s life. He was her rock and basically a dad to Lyra since the day she was born.

“Baby, the moment I held her in my arms, I fell in love with her. I knew then that I’d do everything within my power to protect her. She’s not my blood, but she’s a part of my heart all the same. I love her down to my marrow, like she’s my own.”

I can’t stand out how much I adored Denver, the man was THE man, a serious best book boyfriend material, and how he was so very patient during those four years, and how much he showed them he loved and was there for them… Swoon…

He had been biding his time and just waiting for a signal that Aubrey was ready, and when that came – not in the way he was expecting, lol – he was all hands on deck! Oh boy, did the man show everything he wanted, all his wishes and feelings, in the most ALPHA of ways, lol. He absolutely nothing back, and I ADORED that!

“I’ve always wanted you.” Our eyes stay locked as I wrap my hand around her hip. “You’re the only woman I’ve ever wanted.”

“You don’t want or need me to let go. One of us needs to fight for this, Bre, and until you’re ready to start fighting, that person is me.”

“I fucking know, down to my fucking gut, that this… this is worth fighting for. This is worth everything.”

See what I mean?! He not only waited all this time for her, for them, but still had a tough battle ahead, because Aubrey was scared of the depth of all these feelings between them. The woman had her reason, and past hung ups, but damn, at times I was so aggravated with her, she pushed and pushed, and I have to say, time and time again Den never gave up, and always pushed back, but it reached a point she almost made the mistake of her life, by pushing too much and in a way he felt his unwavering hope shake…

I’m starting to see she’s never going to be mine, that she will always be his, and as much as I love her, I know I can’t live with only having a part of her. I’m selfish. I want it all. I want all her love, all her heart, all her mind, body, and soul.

Fortunately, and FINALLY, she realized her error before it was too late – not that I think Den would really give up – and allowed herself to open to him and truly feel, maybe for the first time in her life, a true and soul deep LOVE!

“Happiness. Being happy. It’s weird. I thought I was happy then.” I shake my head. “No, I know I was happy then. But I’m happy now.” I slide my hands up and wrap them around both sides of his neck. “It’s a different kind of happiness. A happiness I feel all the way down to my soul. These last two days, I realized that with you I feel full. I feel complete. I didn’t know I wasn’t that before but you gave that to me.”

All the cast was splendid, and it was so great to revisit the previous characters of the series, now so many years after. Aurora Rose Reynolds truly gave us all the emotional charge possible in this series, and One Last Wish was without a doubt my favorite of the Shooting Stars and like I said, the PERFECT ending and closure to all this chapter and characters. An emotional journey through Denver, Aubrey and Lyra’s life that pulled on all my heart strings and left me with a warm, fuzzy and happy feeling in my chest. A soul touching, sweet and ultra sexy love story, that will go straight to my all time fav second chance romance, and that I won’t soon forget! Can’t wait to see what new surprises Ms. Reynolds will bring us next!!! <3 <3 <3 <3

“I’d wait forever for you, as long as I knew I’d feel what I’m feeling right now, to know you’re mine in every way there is to be.”

“This is our story. This is the way our story was meant to unfold.”

Ours is the kind of love that has been spoken about and searched for throughout time, a love so sought after that it’s been written into the stars.

Aubrey thought her life was supposed to be with Denver, yet Gabe is the one that stepped up and asked her out. He was supposed to be her forever but life sometimes has other plans wether we like it or not.

Denver always thought Aubrey was supposed to be only his. Years later he's been asked to look after the one that had her but couldn't keep her.

It was awkward at first between Aubrey & Denver because of the years that had passed but once they broke through that they flowed nicely. I could see the history between them and the feelings that they thought were buried away, well those showed up back again and with a fierce force. Though I got to read how this crushed Aubrey I wanted a little more on her life with Gabe.

This was a sweet, second chance at love story that had me smiling like a fool :-) Kara~4 Stars

I liked the story, but I will go with the three star rating. Why? Because Aubrey happened. I will explain later on.

When I was reading the prologue I was hit with the abruptness of it. We have a lot of time jumps that show us some important moments of Aubrey's life. It began with her seeing Denver kiss another girl and then deciding on the spot that she should be Gabe's girlfriend even though she loved him only as a friend. And she ends up married to the guy. Does that make sense to you? Fast forward Gabe dies and she finds out that she is pregnant and then we have yet another flash forward 4 years later. It felt like we saw a decade of their life in a few pages and not in the "awesome epilogue" way. Which the book happened to have btw. I loved these flash forwards.

The story was good, but I felt like there was too much time wasted on Aubrey trying to avoid what she had with Denver and she kept pushing him away. He deserves an award for waiting for her all these years. After Gabe died, Denver was celibate because he knew he had a chance with Aubrey. That man was great and the best part of the book. I wish we had seen him spend more time with Lyra. It was implied that they had a great relationship and we didn't see much of it.

The book had the potential of been amazing and it didn't take it. I feel like we needed more backstory and time to develop this one, since it was short and rushed things a little.

One Last Wish is a sweet low angst read. Likeable characters and no over the top drama but still enough to keep you interested. It felt shorter than her usual books as it only took a couple of hours to read. If you are a fan ARR than I recommend this.

This is the third and final book in the Shooting Stars series, a sweet and heartfelt friends-to-lovers romance that is emotional and swoony, with a gorgeous alpha hero.

This book can absolutely be read as a standalone, but in a fun twist, Aubrey is the daughter of Zach, and step-daughter of Shelby from book #2 in the series, Wide Open Spaces.

Aubrey and Denver were close friends as teenagers. She always hoped for more (and secretly, so did he), but on the night when everything was about to change, she had her heart broken, and ended up turning to another of her friends, Gabe, forming a relationship which went on to become a happy marriage. But then Gabe became sick and died shortly after, leaving Aubrey alone and devastated, and unexpectedly pregnant. Years later, she is the single mother to an adorable 4-year-old daughter, and Denver has been a part of both of their lives since the moment Lyra was born. He’s been there for everything, just waiting for his chance to claim the woman he has always thought of as his. Now that time has come.

It’s a good set-up, but moves pretty quickly so we don’t get the chance to get attached to Gabe or feel Aubrey’s grief, which I actually didn’t mind because I wasn’t in the mood to have my heart ripped out. We don’t get much backstory on Aubrey and Denver either, but the book is written in dual POV so it’s easy to see how much they mean to each other, and how Denver has loved her his whole life. He has been patient with her, allowing her time to grieve and move on, and when he gets that first hint that she is ready, he’s all up in her business declaring his intentions.

“Let me go.”
“No.” He growls with a shake of my hand, and I look into his eyes.
“You don’t want, or need me to let go. One of us needs to fight for this, Bree. And until you’re ready to start fighting, that person is me.”

Aubrey is reluctant to go there with Denver. She’s definitely feeling it, in fact, she’s loved him for years, even during her marriage, but she’s feeling torn – not wanting to disrespect her late husband (even though she already kinda did by loving Denver even while they were married, but let’s just skip over that), and terrified of losing herself in what she knows will be an all-consuming love. There’s some back and forth, which could have become really annoying, but Denver isn’t the kind of guy to let things get angsty, so instead we get her pushing him away, and him refusing to let go, and that’s always an entertaining dynamic.

“You’re an asshole.”
“An asshole you’re in love with. You need to come to terms with that, Bree, ‘cause like I said before, you and I are going to find a way to work this out.”

I did find Aubrey kind of annoying. Her reasons for pushing Denver away were weak, so thank God they were short-lived. And I did have to wonder, if Denver was so in love with Aubrey in the past, why didn’t he fight for her back when they were teenagers? But the story moves along pretty quickly, and once they finally found their groove (thanks to Denver’s persistence), I enjoyed him and his swoony declarations.

“I’ve never felt what I feel for you with anyone else. And I know… I fucking know, down to my fucking gut, that this…this is worth fighting for. This is worth everything.”

Little Lyra is a cutie, and her relationship with Denver is adorable. We also get to see quite a bit of Zach and Shelby, now older and well settled into life together, which was lovely.

There is some drama external to the relationship which seemed to come out of nowhere. Was it necessary? Probably not, but it adds a bit of intensity to the end of the book and shows the strength of Aubrey and Denver as a couple.

I didn’t connect to this one as much as I was hoping. I wanted to get swept up in the romance, and while I did enjoy it, I didn’t feel it like I wanted to. I listened to this as an audiobook, which honestly wasn’t great and probably didn’t help my lack of connection to the story. Catherine F. Edwards reads Denver and Aubrey ok, if a bit robotic, but she does really bizarre voices for the side characters, which I found really distracting.

Still a good read though, with a satisfying ending, and I’m glad I completed the series.

3 stars.

Full Review

One Last Wish is the third in the Shooting Stars series and I adored the first two, so jumping into this one was so easy for me. And like the stories before it, I quickly became connected to the characters portrayed and wanted for them immediately. This one starts out hard, but not as hard as it could be. The quickness of how things play out helps you keep the connection between "your" guy and girl. The sadness is like an extra in a movie, it's there but not overwhelming or taking up too much of your heart.

Timing is everything in this one, from saying what you feel when you feel it, or letting things play out and patiently waiting for it to be the right time. What did happen was between the time lapsed...you wanted for these two to be each other's everything. You want for them to leave the "what if's" and just fall into the "what now" category of loving each other. Taking someone for granted is so easily done, and when you think you are faced with losing that someone, it all crashes down on you. For better or worse. This is one of my favorite series from Ms. Reynolds, it is heartfelt, hard, and worth every page. A different kind of BOOM but shakes you to the core all the same. Quick, easy, beautiful tale of loss, love and family.

One Last Wish is a fast-paced contemporary romance. Normally, I like stories that don't go into too much detail, however, I felt like the author left too much out of this story. There were already a couple of things that happened in the prologue that were a bit cliche, but even though those were minor it still impacted me in how I viewed the characters and their actions further along in the story. Aubrey married her best friend, however there is only one scene of them together, which resulted in me not feeling anything when he died. Also the way they ended up together was weird, and didn't feel real. On one hand I would've wanted to see more of the past highlighted in this book, but on the other hand I was happy we could go to present time pretty quickly.

I think One Last Wish was an okay contemporary romance about two people who had been in love with each other since the moment they met, but did not end up together because they misinterpreted certain situations. Did I feel the love between them? Yes, I did. The moment Aubrey needed Denver, he left everything behind to be there for her. Denver did not hide his feelings for Aubrey, however she was hesitant to open herself up to him. I could feel Denver's frustrations through the book, but he was pretty patient and I loved that about him. He didn't let her hide her feelings for him. Lyra, Aubrey's daughter, was such a cute little girl. I especially loved her relationship with Denver. At the end of the day One Last Wish was a sweet and light contemporary romance, that kept me entertained until the end.

So when the previous book in this series ended it ended like on a sort of Oh what now moment for me. And I needed the next story to see what would happen. The book started on a really emotional note for me.
And I enjoyed the story. I just felt seeing as it was so short that there could have been some parts that could have been explained. Like the beginning of the book when Aubrey found out she was pregnant and then four years later, it was like Denver was in her life since she found out she was pregnant, but there was nothing that indicated that.

I enjoyed their story nevertheless. Denver knew what he wanted and he was the one that fought for it. Aubrey kept on pushing him away and came up with some lame excuses why they couldn't be together. But in the end she couldn't deny her feelings for Denver and knew if she didn't step up he wouldn't be fighting for her anymore.

All in all the story was good, I just wish there was a bit more explaining on how they got to a certain point in their relationship.

One Last Wish is my sixteenth book by Aurora Rose Reynolds. I'm ashamed to say that this is my first one from this series. I don't know why 🤷‍♀️. I started it and immediately told my husband that he was responsible for getting dinner. I devoured this book. It's a second chance romance that deals with heartbreak and healing. I was rooting for Aubrey and Denver from the beginning. Seeing Denver with Aubrey's daughter Lyra just made me love him sooo much more. It was a quick, easy read. I will probably go back and read the other two books in the series.

🌟🌟🌟4.5 STARS🌟🌟🌟
"I lean my head back and look up at the night sky just in time to catch a star shoot across the dark. I don’t even think as I close my eyes and make a wish. I have no idea that hundreds of miles away, someone else is making a wish on that same exact star."

From awkward teenager to reserved woman, Aubrey transforms and blossoms into a fierce mama bear, gaining confidence and a backbone by the time we hit the last page of this novel. But before that can take place we watch Bre take the plunge and move on past the tragedy of losing Gabe, her best friend and husband at a such a young age.

Denver, let's just say in another book life he could have been a Mayson. When it came to Bre and her daughter, Lyra he was protective, those girls were his, and no one was going to waltz in and take them from him... He wouldn't lose the love of his life twice. Yes! Just like Bre had been crazy in love with him as a young kid, so was Denver in love with her too. It's just that sometimes love isn't meant to be the first time around. We have to wait on it to come back around. And wait Denver did. Bre pushed and pushed, her emotional baggage holding her back while Denver pulled, calling her out on her actions before giving her time when she needed it, then reeling her right back in. In my eyes, he was seemingly perfect!

Aurora Rose Reynolds is widely known for her popular and long running Until series that has so many readers wrapped up in the suspense, in the hero's alpha characteristics, and let's not forget the BOOM! That series also keeps me returning for more and more, but it's this devastatingly beautiful series with it's vividly written descriptions of Alaska, the close knit friends who are much more like family, and the nerves I always feel taking root in my stomach from the very first page that makes me fall in love with ARR in a new way. A new way that eats me up from the inside out, pulls emotions out of me easily, and makes me feel like I should bubble wrap my heart.

Even though I would have preferred to spend more time in the past to see the relationship mend and develop between Aubrey and Denver, as well as just wallowing in the turmoil of losing someone you love and having to readjust your life before the four year time jump, I can't deny what this story was... Heartbreaking and wound up tight in angst, One Last Wish is not only a second chance at love and romance, but a fast-paced rousing love story filled with the hope only wishing on stars can create!

This is the final book of the series and it brings together the families we have read in the previous books. It's a story of first love. Of loving someone vs being in love. And a second chance at having it all.

The book gives us just about everything. We get flash backs to the time of innocence. We have anguish and pure love. Sweet mama moments and an even sweeter child. Because Denver and Aubrey are familiar to each other, things seem to be going ok. That is until Denver decides he has had enough of her avoiding her feelings.

Slow burn up until they finally come together but Bre needs to trust beyond anything else. Her heart, her love, Denver. She gets there.

Sweet story and nice wrap up to the series. If I could have one wish, I would want just a couple more chapters. I think Denver could have been more rounded if we could have seen more of him watching from afar over the years. More of his heartache. I also wish the conversations with Gabe had been written. If he'd told Aubrey his wish. If he had had more conversations with Denver. It just would have added more to the story for me.

Overall, great read. Ok to read this as a stand alone, but you will enjoy seeing the other two couples and know the history better if you read the series first.

Where is half of this book?
I feel like huge part is missing.

In my opinion if you write emotionally charged book you have to give it room to grow and breathe and readers need more- words, time- to connect with characters.
If author implies there is bond, kismet or whatever you want to call it between the leading couple...well I need to read it...feel it.
For example.... What I can see from this is beside that I'm obviously a robot is the fact that for me short reads are for novellas that accompany other book and are there because I loved said book so much I need more back or future story or for smut steamy reads.
Why would author put such great plot line and characters in this short book with so many gaps...

And don't get me started on the heroine who is trough whole book scared to be with the hero, because he makes her feel to much so she picks safe options...but one random day is all like we are together and she is all like okay... again could be solved with more plot more pages more words, grovel, development of the story....

This could be so much better book.
This could be the best book in this series.

I think I have been anticipating this book’s release for well over the last year, and the wait was well worth it. As a devoted fan of Aurora Rose Reynolds for almost 5 years, One Last Wish was storytelling as we’ve never seen from her before, and EVERYTHING I love about reading romance.

Aubrey and Denver’s emotional story starts when they are teenagers, and truly begs the question of “what if?” How would the course of our lives be altered if a single event didn’t happen? One night at a party changes the course for these starcrossed characters, taking them on a long, winding, and angst-filled road to HEA.

There’s a quote from Dr. Seuss that stayed in my head while reading this book:
“Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.”

For Aubrey and Denver, the memory of a single night’s event tells us the story of contentment versus true happiness; the story of family, not always by blood; and the story of misunderstandings and forgiveness. This book intertwines the layers of these different themes, all with love at its very core.

“Ours is the kind of love that has been spoken about and searched for throughout time, a love so sought after that it’s been written into the stars.”

This book was beautifully written, as evidenced by the number of highlights in my Kindle. Every story from Aurora Rose Reynolds becomes my new favorite, but I think this is truly her best work to date.

Aubrey and Denver have been in love since they were teenagers. But a misunderstanding made Aubrey choose to date and eventually marry her best friend, Gabe.
Years later, after the loss of her husband and raising her daughter alone, Aubrey is still reluctant to accept her feelings for Denver. But Denver is tired of waiting and he's decided that now is the time to fight for his girl.

I wanted to read One Last Wish since I finished Wide Open Spaces. The wait was long but it was worth it! Aubrey and Denver's story is beautiful and it'll break your heart and heal it by the time you finish reading it. You'll cry, laugh and swoon and you'll want more.

Aubrey is a sweet and kind woman, but also very strong and fierce. She's been through a lot, but she stays strong because of her daughter, Lyra. She feels guilty of her feeling for Denver because they're stronger than her feelings for Gabe, her best friend, late husband, and father of her child. Sometimes she frustrated me with all her back and forth, but I also understood her.
Denver is a swoon worthy alpha male. He's been in love with Aubrey since they were teenagers and he's been waiting for her. He knew she wasn't ready to date after Gabe's death, but now he's tired of waiting and he's going to fight for Aubrey and Lyra. I loved how sweet he was with Lyra and how he accepted her even though he wasn't her biological father.

Aurora Rose Reynolds did it again! She gave us an incredible story with amazing characters that will take you in a rollercoaster ride of emotions and you'll love every page of this phenomenal book. I can't wait to read what will come next and I really hope we'll go back to Alaska!

Aubrey has had a crush on Denver Clayton since she was 13 years old and now at 17 she has been invited to attend a party with him. When she sees him kissing Pamela she is devastated but her best friend Gabe asks her on a date and she accepts.

Now 10 years later she is losing Gabe and she must figure out how to go on with her life while being pregnant. When Gabe reaches out to someone from Aubrey's past will she forgive him for the past and allow herself a chance at happiness?

I enjoyed this book but at times I was so frustrated with Aubrey that it affected my review and lowered it a little.

At the beginning I thought Aubrey was great and I did understand why she agreed to go out with Gabe after Denver broke her heart. I did think it was a little sneaky of Gabe to act so fast in that situation when he knew how both Denver and Aubrey felt about each other. I was impressed with Gabe when he let Denver know what was going on.

So I began to get frustrated with Aubrey as she kept pushing Denver away when he was continually there for her and Lyra. She was scared after everything happened with Gabe but she was doing damage all on her own and it was making me so mad that she didn't see the good things that he was doing.

Denver was awesome and so patient but I began to sympathize with him when he was getting frustrated at what Aubrey was doing, especially with Mike. I understood why he said he needed to get away and I really felt bad for him.

I was totally shocked at what Gabe's parents had planned. Blew me away!

I absolutely loved Shelby and Aubrey's dad and I was flabbergasted with Aubrey's mom and what she tried to pull. I was so happy that Denver insisted that they all have her back!

The book was good and I enjoyed it but I was so mad and frustrated at Aubrey for so long!!

Another beautiful second chance love story by an auto read author for me. This couple really worked hard to over come all the obstacles that were placed in their way. Sometimes you've gotta face that life can put people into your life for a season and that's how it has to be. Then when that season ends you'll have new people or in this case you'll find your way back. Denver and Aubrey found their way back after a lengthy road apart. Denver was absolutely amazing and patient. I loved him. I adored all the characters and just felt like I kinda knew them after reading Wide open Spaces before this. I'm glad I waited and read them back to back. The epilogues were so touching. Another sweet and sexy read by a wonderfully talented author.

Absoluter Taschentuchalarm

One Last Wish is an incredibly heartbreaking yet sweet story. It’s a quick read and I definitely felt the connections between the two main characters Denver and Aubrey.

I absolutely loved Denver, he was sincere, devoted and patient. At the same time he also had some hot alpha male tendencies that I love and to me they were signature ARR. It’s one of the main reasons I love her books, her alpha males just do it for me every time.

This books has plenty of “oh my heart” moments that will make you swoon and honestly just warm your heart. It’s a story that shows you that even after loss there is still a life to live.

A beautiful quick read that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Get ready for all the feels possible with one! Fair warning the beginning pulls absolutely zero punches and is a Kleenex-fest that will gut and maim you. That being said it was so emotionally captivating and well written that it set up everything to come perfectly. Aubrey had Gabe her light and love but fate can sometimes be very cruel and when a terminally illness shook diagnoses shook their world you think wow this just got super real super quick. But alas as Gabe wishes an entire lifetime of wishes for Aubrey his only thought is of her happiness after he is gone and soon he is leaving her crushed and unknowingly pregnant. Cut to 4 years later and Bre has been trying her hardest to survive in this new reality, a one that exist without Gabe and surprising Denver has been the rock. The boy she all but loved years ago but scared of passion and feelings she choose another. Now Denver is going to finally claim the life and family that should have always been his and Bre is trying to manage her grief, wants, and needs all at the same time.

I voluntarily read an reader copy of this book

When you are looking for an easy read with a love story that is bound to win you over then look no further than a Ms. Reynolds book. Its a no drama, true love story that guarantees you a happy ending. I love this authors writing, but with that said... I wish there was more. I felt like I was missing out getting to know the connection between Denver and Bre. I felt like I reading a book were they were strangers strangers, but then I find out they practically lived together for so long after LY was born and I felt like I missed out on learning so much about them. It just seemed like it jumped when I needed to build that connection.

I will continue to be a Ms. Reynolds fan probably for eternity. Although this might have not been my favorite book of hers I know that her writing is one my favorites.
