About the author

German philologist and folklorist Jakob Ludwig Karl Grimm in 1822 formulated Grimm's Law, the basis for much of modern comparative linguistics. With his brother Wilhelm Karl Grimm (1786-1859), he collected Germanic folk tales and published them as Grimm's Fairy Tales (1812-1815).

Indo-European stop consonants, represented in Germanic, underwent the regular changes that Grimm's Law describes; this law essentially states that Indo-European p shifted to Germanic f, t shifted to th, and k shifted to h. Indo-European b shifted to Germanic p, d shifted to t, and g shifted to k. Indo-European bh shifted to Germanic b, dh shifted to d, and gh shifted to g.

This jurist and mythologist also authored the monumental German Dictionary and his Deutsche Mythologie .

Esta obra es una compilación de cuentos clásicos, como Rapunzel, El lobro y los siete cabritos, Caperucita Roja y Blanca Nieves, entre muchos otros. Su originalidad e importancia radica en que en este libro figuran las versiones originales, no las edulcoradas e intervenidas versiones de Disney, ni de la ola de corrección política. El hecho de que cuenta las versones originales de los cuentos, permite ver la sabiduría que hay detras de ellas, enseñando a las nuevas generaciones la necesidad de tener fortaleza espiritual, nobleza y fuerza de carácter. Muchos de los cuentos presentan padres terribles, princesas que imponen pruebas imposibles a quienes aspiran a desposarlas. Así, transmiten el mensaje de reconciliación con el hecho de que la vida es a veces caprichosa y que las recompensas sólo llegan después de trabajar con esfuerzo.

This work is a compilation of classic stories, such as Rapunzel, The Wolf and the Seven Goats, Little Red Riding Hood and Snow White, among many others. Its originality and importance lies in the fact that this book contains the original versions, not the sweetened and manipulated versions of Disney, nor the wave of political correctness. The fact that it tells the original versions of the stories, we can see the wisdom behind them, teaching new generations the need to have spiritual strength, nobility and strength of character. Many of the stories feature terrible parents, princesses who impose impossible tests on those who aspire to marry them. Thus, they convey the message of reconciliation with the fact that life is sometimes capricious and that rewards only come after working hard.
