Your modern illustrated guide to using the power of wild plants and soothing, organic self-care rituals
Come along on a journey through the woods, over the fields and into the kitchen, to forage for nourishing ingredients to enjoy through the seasons. Wild Magic invites you to take a deep breath and reconnect with nature, to introduce you to the ancient art of foraging, discover the joy of seasonal eating and use the healing power of plants for self-care.
From a fizzy drink of elderflower cordial to a warming bowl of mushroom noodles and melting wild garlic muffins to indulgent wild currant doughnuts, these 60 healing recipes and rituals that will make you fall in love with the wilderness that surrounds you in the city as the country, and embrace the beauty of slow living all year round.
If you're a beginner forager, this book is NOT for you.
The plants themselves are all shown as weird and not very detailed drawings.
The only photographic visuals you get, are of finished recipes, or photos of the author that don't really match up with whatever over dressed waffle she has written next to it.
The author, at first, sounds educated in her writing, then tends to repeat words, be overly wordy in general and trips over her use of language constantly.
This was tedious and frankly weird at points.
There's a bit about plant "magic" as well...if she's so far gone that she thinks plants have magical powers, it might be time to boycott.
I have also noticed on the authors Instagram that she regularly claims various plants can help heal specific conditions, which in and of itself, is a legal mine field for her. Especially when she appears to have no qualifications in such matters.
Noone who has any true scientific or medical background, would ever make such claims regarding plants or traditional style medicines.
I absolutely adored this book! It’s something I’ve been interested in getting in to and it was extremely informative and useful and very beginner friendly. It was such a comforting read through each season with some really beautiful recipes that I will definitely try. I didn’t realise how much plants etc is actually edible, ones you see every day and walk past without any thought. Such a beautiful book.
The recipes range from dressings to desserts to mains and each one sounds delicious. Each plant featured in the book is given an identification page and some folklore information that I found really interesting.
I initially borrowed this from the library but went to buy myself a copy before I was even finished with the first season
Fab little book, had no idea you could eat magnolia flowers (the book covers abundant plants, not just wild ones, which is quite useful actually) and there are some great recipes in here, not just the same old boring ones, but rather interesting ones and not complicated. Love it
A beautiful book packed with useful information on foraging and lots of nature recipes to try. I felt very inspired after reading this book. Highly recommend
