Maddie Bartlett, still reeling from the death of her father, has to keep his business, Murray's Horseriding, afloat. After all, she'd promised him.
But it was tough and she was thinking about letting it all go. Horses were her thing but running a business was totally different. It involved having to deal with people.
One of those people was Matt, a city slicker, who looked good in a pair of Levis and knew how to ride. He and his business buddies arrived from the city for a bonding ride & wine weekend.
Matt and Maddie strike up a bond over their love of horses almost immediately. And it soon becomes clear that horses may not be the only love between them.
That is until Maddie discovers Matt isn't just there to 'bond'.
She has to decide whether her promise to her father is stronger than her feelings for this stranger from the city.

Her hobbies include, chicken chips, reading, true crime docos, politics and sleeping. Her other career is as a theatre actor which she has done for the last three decades. So as an actor and a writer she is able to do what she loves best - tell stories.
Maddie is in charge of her fathers ranch after he passes, and her love of the horses is foremost, but her business skills are lacking. Matt and his friends arrive for a week of riding, etc. and he and Maddie bond over the horses. He even bonds with her fathers prized horse Diablo. The characters are terrific, with intense feelings and compassion. The storyline has drama, secrets, hidden agendas, a wonderful dog, a great friend, steam, and much more. Loved the way Matt had Maddies back in so many situations. Great ending. Well done.. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This one is a page turner. Loved the Murray River setting and the characters. Maddie is feisty and strong, yet vulnerable and I adore her friendship with Nat too. A short, enjoyable read.
This is the 2nd book I've read written by Emma Powell; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
This is the 2nd book in the Land on the Land Series; it is a stand-alone short story. The story is about Maddie & Matt; she takes over father’s horse riding business after his death. She loves horses but isn’t sure she can handle the business portion. When Matt and his buddies show up, they hit it off right away. They both love horses and enjoy spending time together until she discovers the real reason he came to town.

Maddie is struggling to keep the ranch and her horses, but if things don’t get better soon, she will have to sell everything. And she can’t because she promised her father not to do it. Matt wants to spend a weekend near the horses he loves and misses so much. But there is something else on his agenda. I hated Dough and Siena; I wanted to punch them for being so stupid, especially Douch hurting the horses. I liked this story. It is lovely and sweet. The attraction between Maddie and Matt can be felt through the pages and I love Matt and Diablo. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really liked this book. Its nice to have a change from US set books. It flowed well and Maddie, Nat, Matt and Jocks personalities were well written. An epilogue would had been nice but that may be touched on if Nat gets her own book?
