Oh my goodness! I love Emmie so much. When I read the first one I fell in love with her and Nick. This fun YA Historical fiction takes you back and forth between 16th Century Tudor England and present day New England.

Now that Emmie has chosen to stay with Nick things start to get real. She's going to be the Queen of England which is a role she never thought she'd ever find herself in. She is thrust into the world wind of court life while Nick is off trying to keep the peace after breaking of a betrothal that would've secured alliance between England and France. Emmie faces a court that doesn't like her and is assigned one of Nick's mistresses as if life weren't hard enough in this strange time. The only thing that keeps her mind off Nick's absence is the gem shop he's constructed for her.

As the country becomes more volatile and betrayals by those high within the court, Nick is sent to war in order to make peace with the people. He has the task of showing his country that Emmie isn't just a common girl but the woman he loves and one who will be their queen.

Natalie really makes you feel like you're in Tudor England with the setting she's constructed. I also love the love story between Emmie and Nick. It's a great combination of time travel mixed with historical fiction so I would recommend this one to anyone who enjoys both of those things. I'm so glad I was able to participate in reviewing both of these books! I hope you'll pick it up!

I have loved 'Emmie and the Tudor King' and this beautiful sequel is a fine addition to a wonderful series. Starting directly from where the first book ended here we see Emmie embarking through new challenges as the betrothed of King Nicholas. But as all the time travel tales establish, life as a royal is not a fairytale. It's always exciting to travel to the past when you know what the future brings, but if you don't have some magic tricks up your sleeve this is going to be a perilous journey indeed.
Just like the last book, this story too is filled with twists and turns, the anticipation increasing with each page. I was practically glued to my kindle the entire time even though I had a pretty good guess about the ending (I was right, by the way). I was glad to see Emmie keeping her high spiritedness in the Tudor court with the help of her three best friends. At a time, when kindness may lead to your doom, will her modern ideals save the day? Will their budding love withstand the perils balancing the two time periods? Grab a copy and find out! Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Thanks again Natalie for sending me your ebook review copy 😄

In this sequel of the thrilling time travel hisfic romance, Emmie and the Tudor King, we’re continuing the story of how Emmie lived her life jumping between 21th century US and 16th century Tudor England using a mysterious ring, and finally decides if she wants to choose her normal modern life or go back in time to be with her boyfriend King Nicholas “Nick” Tudor 🤔 But this is book 2, and that means there were MANY MORE CHALLENGES that this couple needed to face in pursuing their happiness! Like the people of Tudor England’s rejection of Emmie’s betrothal with Nick, the threats toward her and the people she cared about because of it, the power of the mysterious time travel ring that keeps getting weaker and might trap her in either 16th or 21th century, YOU NAMED IT ALL 😱 The big questions are, what sacrifices will they make and what decisions will they take in order to be happy together while keeping Tudor England at peace?

Wow this book was like 10x more intense than book 1! I really enjoyed reading about the main characters and their friends/allies, and I especially adored Nick’s character developments 🥰 As for Emmie, there were parts where I want to beg and assure her that she’s not being selfish, it’s just the situation, Girl! But again, I totally understand that if we’re in her shoes, we might done the same thing and will feel all the roller coaster feelings, wondering if we’re doing the right thing already or not 🥲

Overall, the characters were well-written and interesting to read about, I think I already stated in book 1 review that I really enjoyed the time travel plot (OMG I hope Emmie and Nick won’t have to choose only one period of time 🥺), and the twists were even more mind-blowing 🤯 I’m looking forward to see what will happen in book 3!

If you loved Emmie and Tudor King you will absolutely love this sequel! This book gets all the stars from me. Historical fiction is fast becoming a favorite of mine because of this series!

I was so thankful Emmie and the Tudor Queen picks up exactly where we’re left off in book one!! I always enjoy when authors do this because I’m so invested in that final moment, especially when it’s a cliffhanger.

Natalie Murray is an incredible author. Her writing is atmospheric and descriptive (without being TOO descriptive). I was so immersed in this story that I felt like I was IN 16th Century England right along with Emmie!

Packed with romance, betrayal, and so many ups and downs I’m still trying to recover from.. while screaming into the void begging for the sequel.

Received an ARC in exchange for a review.

After finishing Emmie and the Tudor King, I could hardly wait to read this. And oh my goodness it was so cute! I love a good time travel romance and Tudor history, so this book was perfect for me. This novel finds Emmie and Nick returning to 1580 to officially introduce Emmie as the future queen. Which does not go well. Emmie has a court filled with people who want to see her head on a pike and starts to realize that maybe life as a renaissance queen isn't such a great idea. But she loves Nick and so she will do it for him. Except shit hits the fan real quick, and then more things start happening because of her involvement in the past. There were many times during this book when I thought I would personally fuck off back to the 21st century. Personally I think the only worthwhile thing about being an ill-fated Tudor Queen is that Maisie Williams might play me in The Tudors someday. The story overall was really good, and the writing is engaging. I found myself glued to my kindle for most of the day. It's a story that I overall enjoyed and found myself falling in love with (almost) every character. Especially Alice, I love her and I will protect her with my life. And while I knew how it would end, I didn't know how we'd get there. I was overall satisfied with the ending but I would definitely read a third installment should there be one. It would be nice to see more time travel shenanigans. I want Emmie to meet William Shakespeare and even Mary Stuart tbh. I also want to know how Nick would react to certain things from Emmie's time like vaccines, and condoms, and roller coasters, and historical dramatizations of his life. Like could you imagine Nick and Emmie are watching a movie about himself and he's played by somebody gorgeous like Kit Harrington or something and he just turns to her and is kinda just like "i'm prettier than him, right?" (Emmie if she gets to Anne Boleyn level infamy is probably played by like Emma Watson or Daisy Ridley and she's like "only if you think I'm prettier than her")
Emmie and the Tudor Queen will be officially released on August 25 and I hope that you will be reading it :)

Whew! Talk about romance! Why can't I be lucky enough to find a King like Nick 😍 (Don't tell my husband, kidding hes great too)

So I highly suggest reading this as soon after you finish the first book, or you may have to go back to read.

I just want to say, in the Historical Fiction world there a few that feature time travel. One of the most famous being Outlander. But Murray as an author sets out to where you dont feel it is a comparison or a copy. I know a lot of times when there is one really popular book in a genre people tend to compare.

Don't, Murray's writing is so different and truly makes it's own place.

The world is imaginitive and complex, and it truly is a fresh take on The Tudor time. The Tudor Dynasty is one of the most fascinating, strange, and crazy Dynasties. There have been many Fictional books written about it, and I have read a few. But most are Adult.

I think Murray takes a topic thats "Adult" and makes it's a little more fun and romantic, while also reminding you of just how toxic Courtly life can be. Both books have accuracies that make the story feel so tangible. You also can't help but love when Characters show growth!

You want Political Intrigue ✅
Swooning ✅
To be transportes from all your problems ✅

I highly suggest the second book, Its not an improvement, but a perfect companion to the first.

4.5⭐️

Why are these books so addicting?! I wanna say I did love the mystery aspect of the first one more-there’s no mystery in this one, just full on romance. But I was hooked on this one throughout! Not a ton happens I feel like until the very end. It’s just sort of push pull push pull throughout the whole book of Emmie trying to be queen but then everyone hates her. She goes through a lot as far as tolerating so much negativity in Nicks time. Most of the book I’m feeling like she should go back to her time and not put up with that medieval treatment. Especially when she’s with her mom. I’m so close to my mom so every time Emmie left it would break my heart.

Nick was perfection as always. I seriously love him and the way he is with Emmie. Such a swoon worthy couple! 😍

I loved the new characters in this one. I thought I would hate Lucinda but I ended up loving her. And Bridget was such a sweet girl. Then of course we all loved Alice already (I am obsessed with Alice & her love interest! Novella anyone??). I really love BFFs in books!

The whole ending had me at the edge of my seat. Like what the heck was that?!? Of course this one ends on a cliff hanger too! I need book 3 like yesterday.

One of the biggest things I missed in this sequel was KIT! We only get a glimpse of her in here and I was dying to have her more involved. She was definitely one of my fave characters from book 1 and I missed her big time.

All in all if Historical Romance Time Travel is your jam then this series is for youuu!! I cannot wait to read the next book. I’m definitely a fan!!

A brilliant sequel that lives up to EATTK.
I love that this story picks up the moment the first ends. I was dying to know what would happen to Emmie & Nick and didn’t want to miss a day of their relationship.
The story delves not only into the ups and downs of their lives as a couple, but also the pitfalls of changing the past. Murray’s writing IS the magic ring that makes you feel like you’re living in Tudor England right along with the characters.
And the twist... it was so brilliantly unexpected. It knocked me sideways.
Now, if anyone knows where to find a Tudor king, let me know. Because after reading this, I definitely need one.

Emmie: *goes back in time and marries Nick, a Tudor king*
Also Emmie: *is shocked when Nick acts like..wait for it… a Tudor king*

surprise

In my inner heart, I have to believe this book is satirical, or I will actually sob over how ridiculous this is.

Okay, let’s get one thing straight, throughout my read of Emmie and the Tudor Queen (and it’s predecessor, Emmie and the Tudor King) I have pictured King Nick as Timothée Chalamet. Just know that this review will be LITTERED with gifs of my boyfriend Timothée aka King Nick for yours and mine viewing pleasure. Great, now we have that out of the way, let’s get into it! Oh.. wait, first up we need a gif, as promised.

Ok, NOW we can get into the review!

If you follow me on Bookstagram, you'll know how much I adored Emmie and the Tudor King. I rave about it to anyone who will listen. If you like time travelling, mysterious artifacts, historical fiction with Kings and castles and an Outlander style romance then this series is for you!

When it comes to reading sequels of a book that you thoroughly enjoyed there is always that slight air of anxiety that the sequel simply won't live up to your expectations, how could it possibly top the first book? WELL, from the moment I started reading I knew within my heart of hearts that Emmie and the Tudor Queen was NOT going to disappoint me, and disappoint me it did not!

This book picks up directly from where the first book left off. We find Emmie and Nick besotted with each other and Nick having just proposed to Emmie to be his wife...oh yeah, and THE FREAKIN QUEEN OF ENGLAND. We are quickly transported back to Tudor England, but not without some difficulty from their mysterious time-travelling ring that appears to be acting up and taking a few goes to actually cart them across time. The majority of this book takes place back in Tudor England in King Nicholas' court and England. Emmie and Nick see no end in a long list of troubles mainly derived from their 'undesirable' marriage. Emmie is not deemed as a suitable Queen or wife to the King of England by both the Nobles and the peoples of England. They are faced with conflict after conflict and must attempt to triumph over a seemingly impossible task. Will their love endure the test of time?.... literally!

I absolutely love the way Natalie Murray describes our surroundings/settings, she doesn't feel the need to overly describe every skerrick of detail but rather allows the reader to visualise the world around them naturally. I never had any trouble vividly imagining where we were at any given time. Furthermore, I loved the details given about the outfits that the characters were wearing, that was detail where detail was necessary and it was really fun imagining their Tudor style clothes. The description of some of the foods had me literally laughing out loud "carrot chunks and brown chicken".

We saw a few old faces reappear as well as some new characters! I really adored Emmie's Ladies, they each brought something of their own to the story. I especially loved seeing Alice Grey again (even if they did get off to a rocky reunion) as she is the BFF every Tudor Queen needs! I absolutely LOVED the tension that Lucinda brought to the table with her history with Nick; I respected the mature way the friendship between Emmie and Lucinda blossomed despite the earlier insecurities and jealousies. The numero uno villain, Henry Howard made me SEETHE with rage. By the end of it, I wanted his head on a pike... which means he did his job well as the villain. Emmie's mum had me feeling so sad... I feel so sorry for her, she's quite alone and thinks her daughter has gone mad (which was really comical in some parts when Emmie is trying to explain to her about Tudor England and time travel); I am really eager to know that Emmie's mum will be OKAY lol. I was so thrilled to finally learn about the mysterious Jane Stuart from the first book and who she REALLY was...and of course, we have our main characters - I really enjoy Emmie, she is so relatable and I adore her vulnerability and authenticity. She was a fish out of water being from the 21st Century and thrust into Tudor England as nobility would have been horribly difficult for anyone to try and navigate and I admired that Emmie wasn't perfect. Then we have King Nicholas the Ironheart and GUYS, I swoon. I swoon over his broody, Tudor-ish, progressive but painfully medieval, perfect self. I also absolutely loved that the author kept true to his reputation as Nicholas the Ironheart, he had a darkness within him indeed and that was depicted by his often dark and stormy moods and quick tempter/rage. Whilst these are obviously not positive qualities for someone to possess, it was the way King Nick was known in history (fictitiously) and I appreciated the fact that his tyrannical nature wasn't completely forgotten about and swept under the rug once Emmie met him (which can so often happen in Young Adult books where everyone suddenly becomes perfect). Instead, Emmie's love for him and his love for her brought out the best in him. It helped him self reflect and realise his shortcomings and want to better himself and that is what is most important about someone's character whether it be fictitious or otherwise. But I digress, King Nick MADE.ME.SWOON.

One of the things I loved most about Emmie and the Tudor King was that there was so much TENSION between Emmie and Nick for various reasons. There are so many roadblocks in their way which often causes a divide in their relationship aka ~tension~; as you can imagine being a King is no easy task. In this sequel that up and down chemistry and tension between them continues and I was so PLEASED. Often with sequels where the two love interests have already got together, it can sometimes lose that tension-filled anticipation spark, but this wasn't the case at all in Emmie and the Tudor Queen. The romantic chemistry between Emmie and Nick was still as strong as ever and we were delivered plenty of amazing and suspenseful, broody moments (and kissing) *giggles in Tudor*.

In the first book, not a lot is revealed about this magical ring that can transport people through time. All we know is that it takes you between 21st Century Massechutes, USA and Tudor England simply by falling asleep with it on. We did know that the apparently crazy Jane Stuart was likely to have something to do with it. So much information about the ring is revealed in this sequel and it was so interesting to have so many questions answered about this! We get to know more about the Witchy side of things, of curses and what the purpose of the ring actually is (which happens to be the opposite of what has transpired). It also highlights the stark reality of the effect that Emmie's time travelling has had on the past, present and future and what she and King Nick must do to correct it (or at least remedy the mess that is unravelling at a great rate of knots).

Emmie and the Tudor Queen is a total page-turner from start to finish. The last couple of chapters deadset had me like 'SAY WHATTTTT'. My heart was racing as I rapidly flipped through the last pages, I couldn't believe what I was reading... King Nicholas the Ironheart personified is all I'll dare to say. I honestly spent the last few chapters panicking and inwardly saying to myself 'SAY IT ISNT SO' (ok I was outwardly saying it). It was like each page became more intense than the last and THAT ENDING GUYS. Obviously we need a book 3.

In conclusion, Natalie Murray's writing is so effortless and both Emmie and the Tudor Queen and its predecessor read with ease. There was never a dull moment and I genuinely loved every second spent reading this book!

I am now off to listlessly read another book while I nurse my book hangover. I'll just dream about King Nick until book 3... THERE BETTER BE A BOOK 3.

Well... I finished it and... it wasn't really what I expected at all. I don't know, I had in my head that it would be much more immersive, fun to read, Emmie would be more likeable, Nick would begin to like descend into Tudor-madness I don't know! But, after spending months and months and MONTHS reading and putting it back, picking it up again and putting it down, and finally this past weekend decided that I'd finish reading it whether I had to skim through pages or not.

And skim/skip I did.

Emmie was cute in the previous installment. Nick was a little eccentric and a product of his time but he was likeable. In this one, though? I don't know why they're still together. Like, I seriously don't. After the major event that happened in the last few chapters, which was a complete 180 from everything else that was happening, I'd never ever ever ever EVER trust him again. EVER. Girl.. I understand, you love him and whatnot, but dude- priorities? Your life?????

Yeah, let's mention her life for a bit. Emmie doesn't change at all in the entire novel. She's the same girl from page one to the last one- hell, I can't even be mad at Mia for not being her friend anymore. Dude... just no. And, also, it kind of irks me how she never truly trusted Nick. Think about it: from page one she's doubting his actions; whether it's with Lucinda, the court/nobles, the Duke, her freedom and even her choice of staying or going. If you chose to go back to the past to "live out the rest of your days" there with Nick, warts, crown and all, then why are you complaining...?

I'm no historian, but even I know and am aware of how dangerous and politically sensitive the Tudor times were. Hell, their royals could cut anyone's head off if they so desired. It's crazy! And, it's like, you can't really minimize or act like "oh, hahaha, all these nobles are such lameos!" It.. doesn't...work like that...

I don't know, man, this was one tedious book to finish and I don't even know if I will continue with the series. Same cliffhanger as the previous installment but in a slightly different way and something tells me it's not gonna work this time around. I don't think it is truly possible for either party to 1000% give up their world for the other without a bit of resentment or maybe struggle to get used to their new life. It doesn't happen out of thin air and much less because of a magic ring.

Guess we'll see where Nick and Emmie will end up next, huh kids? ...Umm, yeah, pass.

While it's stated this could be read as a standalone I highly do not recommend it. I attempted it to see if this could be the case and found myself utterly lost a few chapters in. I ended up going back and reading the first book then immediately diving into the second.

I loved the first book for it's unique premise I did question how the second book would hold up. What it came down to though was Emmie changed her mind a TON. Yes she loved Nick but she wanted to go back to the present with him. This kept coming up time and time again to the point where it became redundant and a tad annoying.

Nick was the only thing really tying Emmie to the past and stealing her future that she had maybe possibly wanted. Your whole life cannot revolve around someone else and that's what left Emmie flailing. She was independent and beyond the that time obviously so she wasn't content with the little freedoms she was granted like the other women of that time. Plus Nick is a king he has his duties and that left her alone quite a bit besides the company of her ladies in wait.

I still really enjoyed the historical aspects of the book. From the clothing to the food and just learning what women did with their days was interesting. The ending was also a tad of a shock. It was intriguing enough that I still think I'll be picking up the third book just to see how it all turns out.

EMMIE AND THE TUDOR QUEEN by Natalie Murray is the much-needed follow-up to the first book in this series. As it stands, Emmie has decided to go all-in with Nick, but unfortunately, just because the two of them have chosen each other, doesn’t mean the rest of the court, nobility, or country will support that. In fact, just the opposite happens, and Emmie finds herself in a very precarious position. Nick, try as he might, has to face the reality that there are certain things even he can’t protect Emmie from, and despite holding the highest position in the land, he can’t will everything to be as he wishes.

This sequel delves into the nitty-gritty of Emmie and Nick figuring out how to make their relationship work. Spoiler alert: it’s not super easy. This element is probably what I appreciate most about this book. Like Claire in OUTLANDER, Emmie is sure she’s found her match in the past, but unlike Claire, she’s unclear on whether that’s a good enough reason to stay there. This one-foot-in, one-foot-out feeling keeps Nick spiraling, and creates a fair deal of conflict. Even my heart couldn’t take the flip-flopping!

That being said, I enjoyed seeing Nick find all the ways he could to make Emmie comfortable in his time, most notably the construction of her jewelry workshop. While the events of the story understandably keep her out of there, I would’ve loved to see her whip out fantastic jewelry that redeemed her to the court in some small way and to see the couple enjoy a time of peace. Unfortunately, aside from fleeting moments, they’re not granted that. I also enjoyed the new additions to court with Emmie’s ladies. They have a fun and light dynamic that counterbalances the political manipulations happening outside of Emmie’s chambers.

Overall, EMMIE AND THE TUDOR QUEEN is a fantastic sequel that introduces realistic tension and obstacles, while simultaneously upping the romance in such a way that will make you really root for these two even in the most impossible circumstances. The ending cliffhanger is brutal and will leave you reaching for book three with no time to spare.

I love this series so much! So this book definitely was a second book (you know, like New Moon in the Twilight series). What I mean by that was that it wasn't as good as the first book, and likely not as good as the third and final book that I will be reading today. I felt betrayed by Nick until the end and I am still rather salty with him which makes me sad. I love Nick. I am also peeved at Emmie and Nick's naïveté with their situation. I understand why it was written that way, and even think it was necessary, but I am still allowed to not like it. There was a lot more relationship building in this book and I enjoyed that. I thought it was definitely a great set-up to the final book. I am worried for the characters and invested in their story now, so Natalie did everything right as an author!

I recommend this book and hope that readers will enjoy it even though it is a little more dull than the first book. The first book had a bit more intrigue. This one was more dealing with emotional reactions. The course of history has been changed again and I look forward to figuring out how it ends.

As I read these books I can't help thinking how much more entertaining they would be as dual POV. Nick was gone for a healthy bit of this book and I would have liked to know what he was thinking about and his feelings. I feel like, since we are always in Emmie's head, we don't truly understand Nick's actions and what he feels, especially for Emmie. I want to get inside his head and learn everything. They aren't great at communicating all the time so sometimes, I am left wondering. Granted, that is how Emmie feels so I really am just understanding her feelings but I want to understand Nick too. That is really my only complaint. I want Nick's POV. I still thoroughly enjoy the books and I recommend them. They are really really great!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. 100% recommend this whole series!!!!

Normally I don't read many Historical Novels. Not because I think history isn't important, but mostly because I read to see that little touch of magic at work. However, the Tudors are by far the most fascinating royals to have ever lived. Mostly because they did whatever the hell they wanted, however the hell they wanted it. And everyone allowed them to do so. So, after reading, and loving, the first novel in this series I was excited to start the second one.

It's quite clear from the start that this is basically an entirely different book. Where the first book showed us the romance, the charm, the parties and the beauty of the Tudor Court, this book shows us the other side. The politics, the mobs, the hatred, the backstabbing, the conspiracies, the danger and the famous Tudor temperament. I have to admit that at times it made the book hard to read, because our heroine is going through quite a lot.

But this is also one of the things I like about this series. Yes, Murray changed history and added a generation of Tudors to the British Royal Dynasty, but everything else feels pretty authentic. So, even though it's not an accurate version of the past, the books give us a taste what life at the Tudor Court was like. The beauty and the dirt. The balls and the beheadings. The love and the mistresses on the side. It makes this time period vivid and even a little understandable.

I have to admit that I still want to see more of Nick being Nick when he's not the King of England. I know, it's a lot to ask. Especially from a King who got the crown way too young and at a very harsh time, but still. Luckily Emmie makes up for that. Even though Emmie and I are not that much alike, I really understand her actions and reactions. I understand her pain and worries, her disappointment and also why she keeps on fighting for that one man.

I'm really curious what the next book is gonna bring!

Did I love this one as much as the first? No, but it still sucked me in!! I couldn't put it down! The first book had the mystery going for it. I had to know who was trying to kill Kit and that mystery thriller part made it exciting to read. This one was more heavy on the romance. Romance when King Nick involved is definitely not a bad thing. That boy is sweet, gorgeous, and totally swoon worthy!!!

What I didn't enjoy so much this round was Emmie. She was jealous, naïve, and self centered. She wanted everyone to sympathize with her but she didn't share her reasons or thoughts with them. She was all over the place in terms of making decisions and that kinda drove me crazy. I had to keep telling myself she's only 18 so she's bound to be immature and that's what lead to all her bad decisions. She kept saying she was all in with Nick but then she'd make decisions that say he wasn't enough for her....

I really enjoyed getting to know more of the side characters this go round! Alice was a fabulous addition! And I found Lucy to be a great character, too! I'm intrigued to see how this plays out in Book 3!!

Ultimately, their love story is one I can't let go of!! That's what made the book un-put-downable! I'm rooting for them to get their happily ever after! The end is where all the excitement happens and I ended up in tears at one point. Their relationship is so consuming that I'm completely invested in it!! That's a sign of fantastic writing!! Being able to have a reader feel all the feelings!! So once again I read this in less than 24 hrs! I can't wait to read the conclusion!!

" Your dear betrothed may have the heart of a king, my lady, but he also bears the heart of a man."

After a crazy ending in book one, I wasn't sure where EATTQ would go.
Turns out everywhere I wanted it!

After Nick's proposal, Emmie must now navigate the Tudor time period and find where she belongs, other than the owner of Nick's heart.

With so many swoon worthy moments and writing so beautiful you feel as if you are wearing gorgeous gowns and jewels yourself, I highly recommend this series to people of all ages.

Read if you love:
-the Tudor dynasty and time period
-a king with anger issues but a huge heart
-a modern day girl living in a whole 'other world
-is it really old England if there isn't a bit of betrayal and beheading?
-Outlander for Young Adults
-a bit of magic
-a love worth traveling time for
-friendships and side characters to find just as interesting as the OTP
-quick and easy escape of a book

The ending had my gasping and racing to the last page, with a cliffhanger I didn't see coming. I am on pins and needles waiting for book 3!

"No matter where we shall travel, my lady- to the future or to God in heaven, I wish to be by your side. For I shall be a king no more, but merely a man, and I will worship and love yours such until the last breath of my immortal soul. Can you love me not as a king, Emmie, but as a man?"

Rating:
Story- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Characters-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Genre- YA romance/time travel/historical fiction
Steam- although the men on Nicholas's council was called to watch and verify the consummation of marriage... you my friend.... are not invited.

ANGST!! Best way to describe this book. All the angst!! (I’m all for those angsty romances).

This book, even without the murder mystery that drove the first one, is still an addicting read. The story focuses more on the ups and downs of Emmie and Nick’s star-crossed romance as Emmie tries to adjust to life in the King’s Court, and finds out first-hand how dangerous the Tudor era could be!

Nick continues to be the perfect book-boyfriend here. You genuinely feel how much he cares for Emmie, and how much he values of her happiness. But therein lies the central conflict: a girl from the 21st century America could never realistically adjust to the Tudor era, where people (especially women) simply didn’t have the same freedoms. And I loved that Emmie struggles so hard with that concept, because it upped the realism factor for me. (Although there were a few times I was thinking: “girl, is this guy really worth all this trouble?” LOL. But, yes! Nick would totally be worth it!).

Emmie and Nick managed to break my heart, multiple times, throughout the book. And those last few chapters were ROUGH. I didn’t quite love everything that happened (no spoilers, but I’ll just say I wasn’t fully on-board with Nick’s plan). But I was literally holding my breath through some sections. The book definitely kept me glued to the page.

I highly recommend this series to romance lovers! (Although be ready to have your heart stolen by Nick Tudor!)

I loved this sequel so much! I really enjoyed the first book, Emmie and the Tudor King, but I wound up enjoying this one even more. If you love Tudor England, time travel, and romance, you’ll definitely love this book! Natalie has way of drawing you into her stories, and you feel like you’re living in that world.

The story starts off right where the first book left off. Emmie and Nick head back to England to announce their betrothal. Emmie has essentially given up her life in the modern world to go to the sixteenth century and marry King Nicholas. She soon finds that not everyone is pleased about their betrothal, especially the noblemen who are supposed to protect her. Emmie goes through so much in this book. Her heart is torn between the two worlds, and she’s once again faced with difficult choices to make. I felt that Nick showed growth in this story also, as he had difficult choices to make as well. Other familiar characters are back in this book that I grew to love even more, and we are also introduced to some intriguing new characters. Get ready for an adventure, as there are so many twists and turns, you won’t want to put the book down!

I hope that you will add this one to your TBR. It just released yesterday, so you can pick it up now! I am crossing my fingers that we get a third book, because I need more Nick and Emmie in my life! I need to know what their future holds.

I was a bit nervous because as a non-native English speaker I was afraid that it would be difficult for me to fully understand a novel with historical content. As it turns out, my fear was totally unfounded. Emmie and The Tudor Queen is in fact a very easy book to read and enjoy. This book has made me scream and cry. I really enjoyed it, my gosh. If you enjoy romance novels, time travel and the Renaissance period, this book is for you. One of the most positive features of this book is that even though it is short, something is always happening and the truth is that I really appreciate it because it kept me completely hooked. There is not a single moment that is not relevant or where something important does not happen. Maybe I would say that things work out too quickly, but that makes you read faster as well. Another thing I loved was the dedication and courage of Emmie, who despite being a character that doesn’t please everyone at court, always watches over the interest of her loved ones and devotes herself to them with all her heart, even if that puts at risk the stability of everything she has achieved. That is why I feel identified with her. The plot twists made me shed a few tears, I won't lie. It is therefore a book that I recommend without hesitation, Natalie has done a fantastic job. I need a 3rd book ASAP, please!★★★★☆‌

Emmie and the Tudor Queen is a romantic, YA historical fiction with a swoon worthy King and the girl trying to save him from himself. 💜
👑
I received the digital copy of this book as an ARC from the author in 2020 and admittedly, I am very delayed in posting this review. Covid hit my life in ways I never imagined and this fun read was lost in the process.
🤴🏻
The second book in the Hearts and Crown series finds Emmie back in modern day America separated from her love and desperate to return. This book continues right where the first one left off and gives answers to all the questions left unanswered in Book One. Emmie is now betrothed to her true love Nicholas and determined to make her way through 16th century England to stay with him. But can Emmie save him from the rage that lies beneath his surface?
👑
This was a great weekend read, and despite my delayed review, I did enjoy it. Being a fan of historical fiction and all things royals I whipped through this one in two days. I did struggle a bit with the MC and her self involvement but once I put that in perspective with her age, I was able to move past it and enjoy the book. I just ordered the final book in the series and can’t wait to see how their story ends. Nick is sooo romantic (swoon).

Emmie and The Tudor Queen is a book of outstanding calibre. Much like the first book in the series, its pacing is quick and brilliant. Simple, yet effective, the plot is well-executed, and the intrigue holds you hostage and makes you want to devour it in a single setting.
Once again, Emmie is remarkably well written, her witty charm and insecurity making her feel all the more real.
The time travel is another added bonus. And as a Tudor history fanatic, the setting is absolutely what did it for me, drawing me further in.

However, the book comes with its downsides. Emmie, fleshed out as she is, feels so romance-focused that her individualism starts to fade.
Her love interest feels too much like a cliché in this book. In the previous book, I felt like the author was cleverly playing with the Bad Boy Trope, but now the relationships feel genuinely toxic to me.
I’d like to add that if I had stumbled into this book a year or so ago, I feel like I would’ve undoubtedly rated it 5 stars without a monet’s hesitation.

Overall, I’d still highly suggest this series. Especially if you like Tudor History or reading books on Wattpad or if you happen to like the Outlander series.

What a great sequel to Emmie & the Tudor King! The drama is ramped up in this one! It's obvious Emmie never watched Cate Blanchett's "Elizabeth" because she'd have been better prepared for the cutthroat politics and the battle she and Nick have ahead to try and win over the English nobles to the idea of Queen Emmeline. She's a bit naive, but I guess what 18 year old wouldn't be? Their growing love is swoon worthy, however,
Minor spoiler alert................. one moment I found lacking was their wedding night. I know it's YA and I expected fade to black, but I mean, at least give me PG-13! All this sexual tension and nada! Like, losing one's virginity was not of particular note. I was left unfulfilled on the romance front in that particular moment, but I'm normally a NA/adult romancer, so could just be me 🤷‍♀️

The last few chapters had me gripping my phone(KU) and I had to force myself to write this review before I start the final book! I'm ready for some "let's actually get to know one another" moments and then back to action! Excited to see how it ends!

I’m not exactly surprised that I’m rating this book so much lower than the first, but I will still list my reasons. First of all, I waited a whole book a half for just like a tiny bit of smut, and all I got was a fade to black, ON THEIR WEDDING NIGHT. With that being said, I don’t necessarily need smut in a book, but I was definitely disappointed. Second, the amount at which homegirl tried to jumpstart feminism 300 YEARS EARLY drove me crazy. She obviously has never seen a period piece before. Then third and last, what made me decide to give this three stars was this girl’s decision to just completely abandon her friend back home. She had the perfect opportunity at one point to go find her and explain herself and she did not. I just cannot fathom up and leaving someone like that with literally not explanation.

Overall, I really liked it, I just feel as though I am going into this third book with a lot of reservations about both Emmie and Nick because both became pretty unlikable main characters throughout the course of this book.
