Be My Love, Cowboy was an absolutely sweet and heartfelt story that left me with a warm and happy feeling upon reading the last words of the novel. It is the second book in the Texas Matchmakers series. It can be read as a stand alone, but also works so well to continue the matchmaking theme in Mule Hollow. It was fun to catch up with characters from book one.

Lilly and Cort were pretty much thrown together due to circumstances and a very ornery donkey! Samantha, the donkey, really was fun and added a good bit of humor to the story. I really felt for Lilly and Cort and some of the obstacles that they were up against. Because of their pasts and things that were out of their control, both Cort and Lilly wondered if there could possibly be hope for either of them to find love in the future. Their story was definitely one that grabbed me and didn’t let go!

If you are a fan of contemporary fiction, Be My Love, Cowboy is definitely a title I’d recommend.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I read this again on 9/1/2009 as I'm reading the whole series.

Enjoyed it the 2nd time around as much as the first. Maybe more since

more of the other characters were familiar

I really enjoyed this book very much. I am starting to get into this Author’s books. They are well thought out and well written. They have serious parts but also includes humor. There is no profanity and no sexually explicit dialogue. Just really good storytelling on the part of the Author making for a very enjoyable read.

This book was no exception. I really loved the two main characters in the story, Lilly Tripp’s and Cort Wells. Lily comes from several generations of women who haven’t had any luck with the men in their lives and as a result don’t have any use for them.

Cort was married to a woman very similar to the men Lilly and her Mother and Grandmothers have had experience with.

Both Lilly and Cort are pretty much loners and have recently become neighbors. Lilly is pregnant and could have a baby anytime soon.

What really adds humor to the story are their pets. Lilly has a pet donkey named Samantha who both Lilly and Cort believe is more human than donkey. Cort has a dog he rescued and named Loser. He is an interesting mutt of a dog. Samantha and Loser become friends. Samantha is always causing trouble.

Not only is it a great read but memorable one as well. I am glad I read it.

This story is another touching and thoughtful Christian novel by this talented author. it’s the second book in the Texas Matchmakers series and takes place in the town of Mule Hallow, TX. We met our female character in the previous story. Lilly Tipps is 8 months pregnant, living in an isolated ranch and the protector of a very funny donkey named Samantha.Lily was brought up to believe men were useless and after her failed marriage, she believes it with her all heart.
Cort Wells is her neighbor and a newcomer to Mule Hallow. He is considered a grouch since he doesn’t smile, and keeps to himself. He has secrets and sorrows of his own that have changed him .
Cort and Lily meet because the mischievious donkey escapes to Cort’s barn . A sort of friendship starts and blossoms when Cort comes to Lily’s rescue more than once.
Both started rediscovering God and as the friendship deepens, their feelings for each other deepens as well. But one doesn’t feel they are good enough for the other , and both have been hurt in the marriage department.
This is a true story of believing in God and His plan for us . It is a story of learning to forgive ourselves, of hope, faith, of family and love.
I was gifted this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Lilly, raised by her "grannies", believes she is doomed to be a single parent to her child. Men are useless, no good scoundrels are the terms she was raised with. Her one month marriage ended in divorce and pregnant. This was fine with her, she just wants to be a good God loving mother.
Cort wants a family but thanks to mumps he not longer can have that family. His wife left him because of it. Now divorced he is seeking to find a quiet place to heal. To find what God has in store good him.
Thanks to a matchmaking donkey these two out their faith to the test and come out the other side. Samantha, the donkey, puts the two of them in each other's path as much as possible.
This store will have you laughing, cheering on Samantha, and coping at Joshua (Lily's baby), blessing Lacy's antics, and reading faster to get to the end for that HEA.

This was a sweet, romantic story. The pregnant damsel in distress gets saved by the grumpy neighbor. Who wouldn't want to read that? It made for a great story and I fell in love with the characters from the very first chapter.

Cort was a wonderful hero. He had the mean, macho look down (hence the reason the town talked about him I think). But...if you look deep inside, you find this loving and caring man with a heart of gold. Those make some of my favorite male heros. Tough exterior and soft interior. I enjoyed seeing him with Lily as it made more of that teddy bear guy appear more.

Romance lovers will enjoy this story and most likely read in one sitting. It was nice to be back in Mule Hollow again....I wonder who's next!? I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A touching, heartwarming love story. It is also a laugh out loud book. Lilly and Cort thought they could never to find true love. Both had had marriages that were disastrous. Lilly's husband left when she told him she was pregnant. Cort's wife took off because he couldn't give her children. They first met because of Samantha's troublemaking. Samantha was Lilly's donkey that thought she was a human. Wasn't a gate or door she couldn't open. Samantha was a real matchmaker as well as a regular mischief maker. One of the best stories I have ever read. I highly encourage you to read Be My Love, Cowboy by Debra Clopton.

This story just grabs you right from the start. I laughed so hard at Samantha; she is certainly one aware burro. She is definitely the hero of the story. The characters were very likable, you have Lilly who is one very strong determined woman. She is able to handle things that most woman would run from and this is because of her Grannies. Cort is one very messed up guy who keeps trying to do the right thing but for all of the wrong reasons. He has a big heart but a stubborn head. What a fun story to read.

Once I started reading this book, I couldn’t put it down until I got to the end. I've absolutely loved this story as much I loved the previous one. Lilly and Cort are perfect for each other, Samantha and Loser were perfect matchmakers. I can't wait to continue reading the rest of the series and I highly recommend it!!! Definitely a must read!!! Thank you Debra!!!

What a Hoot!

I laughed. I teared up. It was great! Seriously, though, this is definitely going in my favorites list. I love App and Stanley and their conversations always crack me up. Samantha was brilliant. There were some typos, a couple of them pretty bad, but they couldn't tear me away from the story.

If you enjoy south-western humor, cowboys, a solid plot, lovable and relatable characters, and inspirational romance, then you should read this book.

Oh my, Samantha!

This book my be about the romance of Lilly and Cort, but the true lead character is Samantha, an aged burro. Sam is truly a qwerky, almost human little donkey, who manages to cause more mayhem than she is worth! With her sidekick Loser, she manages to bring together two stubborn and broken-hearted individuals to a God ordained marriage.

Fun storyline and crazy characters.

I enjoyed this book because of the characters and the adorable little town in Texas. It's all about love and you never know when it will hit you. There is a lot of laughter and conversions with God. A fun series to read.

This was a light and fun read. The 2 main characters had their own problems to resolve with God's guidance. The animals were just what was needed to keep the story a joy to read, especially since we have 2 donkeys of our own.

The people of Mule Hollow are trying to revive their town that has more men than woman. Cort Wells has a ranch next to Lilly Tipp. She's pregnant and alone. Cort wants no romantic entanglements. This book covered a lot of emotions. It was really great loved it just so much fun.

Sweet yet strange, wholesome romance.

Brought together by a donkey, neighbors fall in love while dealing with escape artist Samanthas crazy antics, like letting loose his horses and breaking into his alfalfa storage.

Good Read

It keeps your interest as well as bringing in characters from book one. You don’t have to read the first one to be able to follow the second one. The stories each stand alone!

Really a 3.5. It’s a decent story about Lilly, a young very pregnant divorcée and her grumpy new neighbor, Cort, her donkey Samantha, his dog Loser, and a small rural community looking to recruit more women.

We were briefly introduced to Lilly in Dream With Me, Cowboy and I was curious to learn what her story was. This was such a fun read – from Lilly and Cort’s first meeting, to the early arrival of Joshua (Lilly’s baby) and the antics of Samantha. When love is meant to be, why keeping fighting it thinking you know what is best for the other person. Once I started reading this book, I couldn’t put it down until I got to the end. Definitely a must read and I can’t wait to meet more of the residents (old and new) of Mule Hollow. I was gifted a copy of this book for my honest review.
