Regan is too good for a man like me. In a way, I feel like I’ve just tainted her. She’s nowhere near ready for someone like me.
And I really don’t think I’m ready for someone like her.

We’re now four books into the ”Arizona Vengeance” series and it’s getting even better with each installment. Not only does the book have an amazing cover, but it also has a couple of my favorite tropes-- ”friends-to-lovers” & “romance with the older brother’s best friend”. With all that going for it, there wasn’t a doubt that ”DAX” was going to be a fun and steamy read!

Dax Monahan’s best friend, Lance Miles, was recently killed during a mugging. Lance leaves behind his younger sister Regan. Their parents died when Regan was fourteen and Lance had been her sole guardian since. After the funeral Dax learns that Regan has a serious illness and no longer has any medical insurance to cover the exorbitant amount it costs to pay for her medication. Without even blinking an eye Dax convinces Regan to marry him so that she would have his medical benefits to pay for her treatment.

Dax moves Regan from California into his home back in Arizona and it’s not long before things turn physical between them. Even though their chemistry is hotter than anything Dax has ever experienced before, he still struggles with feelings of guilt and doesn’t think that he’s good enough for Regan. The two agree to go back to the way things were, but soon realize that there’s no turning back. Will their marriage of convenience turn into the real thing?

Here are my overall ratings:

Hero: 4.5
Heroine: 4.5
Plot: 4
Angst: 4
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 5

Dax is book 4 of the Arizona Vengeance series and, as you might have guessed by the title, brings us to Dax Monahan. His story takes place parallel to most of the previous book, Legend, and there are some events from that book that are brought up in this one. None of the events overshadow Dax's own story though and it was pretty cool to see those same scenes from a different POV.

Dax's story starts off with him going to meet his best friends little sister after hearing of her brothers death. Regan Miles isn't the same little girl he remembers though and seeing her all grown up gives him some not-so-brotherly thoughts. Especially when he convinces her to marry him in order to help her situation.

I loved these two. There wasn't a ton of angst between them but they brought so much sexual tension to the story that I really enjoyed. Their relationship was mostly an easy one but that's what I liked about it so much. It gave a lot of page time to them together and figuring it out without drama to interfere. Both Dax and Regan were amazing to read about, and even more so when they were together.

Overall, I certainly recommend reading this book. Since the timeline overlaps with the previous book I would recommend reading that one before starting Dax. This story also leaves us with hints of what's to come in the series and I, for one, am very excited to see what's coming.

3.5 When Caring Becomes Love Stars
* * * 1/2 Spoiler Free-Limited Time, ONLY 99 CENTS!!!
In the continuing series, Arizona Vengeance, Sawyer Bennett did something a little different. She brought all of her talent and storytelling to this new Hockey team and decided to tell each main character's story on the same timeline. This means you can read all of these entries and see everything happening from another vantage point. So far we have gotten to know many of the team and their family members, too. There are enough sisters and brothers to keep things fresh and interesting.

In Dax, (Arizona Vengeance #4), we are given more insight into what was happening with Dax at the end of the last book, Legend.
Dax is a man who loved hockey and bonded with teammates well. He played all of his life from early childhood and when his best friend and past teammate died unexpectedly, he went back to the funeral to help with the friend's sister. Dax, this brother, and sister use to hang out with the sister being much younger. Dax always liked her as a little sister and never thought of her in any other way. When he sees her after quite some time, he is stunned by this woman before him.

Regan has been going through very tough times. It has been more than she wished to handle and it started way before the horror of losing her brother to a random robbery went bad. She hasn't wanted to have people perceive her differently, so she kept her situation to herself and only shared it with her brother. Now she is in a difficult position because she is alone without her brother's help. She has held it together, be strong but when Dax is there...she reveals too much and the next thing she knows, Dax has a plan, is forcing it to happen and she is letting it.

This story takes two people who have deep feelings for each other, a caring which has always been there. However, the more Dax is around Regan and Regan around Dax, it segues into a spark and attraction which is mutually intense and wanting. These two are playing with fire and both are praying not to get burned.

This story does not have a lot of angst and it is clear as to what needs to be done for the HEA for Dax and Regan, they need to just tell each other clearly how they feel.

There is more to the tale besides this attraction turning to love. Ms. Bennett approaches a serious illness, depression, and the cost of healthcare with a sure hand. We also get the taste of upcoming books for other characters which look to be extremely solid and interesting.

Dax Monahan is a 27 yr. old bachelor who plays professional hockey in the NHL for the brand new expansion team, the Arizona Vengeance. He’s focused on his career, but then his entire world is turned upside down by an unexpected tragedy, and he comes face to face with someone he hasn’t seen in years. Regan Miles was always like a sister to him. Their families were close, and they grew up together. Now she’s in a bind, and needs help. The only solution to her problem he can come up with is for them to get married. He insists she comes home with him to Arizona, and he’s determined to fix things for her and make her feel safe. He’s committed to this, but the one thing he can’t control is their explosive chemistry. Little Regan is drop dead gorgeous, and all grown up, and before long he wants her, and is obsessing over her.

Regan Miles is a 22 yr. old nurse living in Southern California who feels empty and has no one. Then Dax swoops in and rescues her with a crazy plan she reluctantly agrees to. She’s known Dax her whole life, and trusts him completely. They share a friendship and bond that means something to her. The only issue is she’s no longer looking at him in a brotherly way. She’s accepted this marriage will have nothing to do with romance, but she’s still insanely attracted to him.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Both grieving, Dax and Regan’s shared loss only brings them closer together. They have a deep connection, and Dax realizes he’s loved her in some form or fashion her entire life. She’s growing more important to him every day, and she makes him happy. He’s found something so special he never expected, and nothing has ever felt more right. Things get complicated when he has to face he’s falling for his best friend’s little sister.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

-He makes me feel things I’ve never felt before, and I want to explore these feelings.

-The chemistry between us is red hot, and it doesn’t need much to ignite.

-I’ve never been more connected to another human being in my life.

Dax is the fourth book in the Arizona Vengeance Hockey Series. Dax Monahan is passionate about hockey and his family. When he learns that his best friend's sister is in need, he doesn't hesitate to step in. Even when it means marrying her. Regan Miles is sick and in desperate need of medical insurance. When her big brother dies, she doesn't know what she should do next. When Dax comes back into her life and proposes marriage, she is scared to death. Knowing she has always had feelings for Dax, being this close to him might be harder than it seems. As Dax and Regan reconnect, the passion ignites, and the marriage transforms from fake to very real!

"I've got a bond with her I've never felt with another person."
Told in dual POV, Dax is another hockey romance winner with passion, intrigue, and hockey action and with the addition of a slight age gap and a best friend's little sister trope, and you have a recipe for a delicious disaster! Dax is probably my favorite type of hero because he is protective and loyal to the ones he loves! Regan is a perfect match for Dax because she keeps him on his toes!
“You coming back into my life is one of the best things to ever happen to me."
Overall, Dax will appeal to hockey romance fans. Although you can read each book in the Arizona Vengeance Series as a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading this series from the beginning. All of the characters are interconnected, and their relationships with each other are what make this series remarkable. With a strong ensemble and tender romance, Sawyer Bennett has once again scored big with Dax!

Dax' story is not as good as I expected. Yes, Miss Bennett made the plot from a rare disease but I was expecting more dramatic plot on it.

Compares to Legend, the writing on Dax is bland. Boring even. And no shocking or dramatic plot/ twist. Not so much fun.

Anyway... moving on.

The Arizona Vengeance is killing it on the ice. But one player can’t seem to keep his eye on the puck—all thanks to the woman he just married to save her life.

My name is Dax Monahan and hockey is my passion. And if you want to succeed in this sport you have to bust your ass 24/7. I’ve never had a hard time focusing on my career, but when my past comes knocking, no amount of training can prepare me for what lies on the other side of the door.

Regan Miles was always like a sister to me. When a shared tragedy brings us face to face after several years, I’m shocked to see just how much she’s changed. Gone is the shy, awkward little girl that always used to chase me and her brother around. Instead, I’m faced with a gorgeous woman who makes it damn hard to concentrate on anything but her.

Turns out, she’s in trouble, and the only way out is to get married.

I surprise myself when I tell her to marry me. Order her, actually. And most shocking of all, she doesn’t even hesitate before saying yes.

So it’s settled. We’re getting hitched and she’s moving to Arizona with me. All platonic, of course.

The catch?

I never knew I’d fall so hard for my best friend’s little sister.

DAX and Regan haven't seen each other in a while but when tragedy strikes he is right there ready to help her in any way he can, but I can assure you he didn't expect to propose marriage to her as a way of helping.

The chemistry is great between Dax and Regan and I enjoyed the inner turmoil Dax was going through when he was feeling things he thought he shouldn't be feeling towards her. I wouldn't say this was a fun read but it did have some fun moments, I felt it was a bit more on the serious side which I did enjoyed. I don't want to give anything away but know that there are times that are hot and steamy and there were a couple of times I needed a tissue.

DAX is the fourth book in the Arizona Vengeance Series and while it can be read as a standalone I would suggest reading each of the stories in the order they have been released. The one thing I absolutely love about this series, besides the hot alpha males and the lovely women that bring them to their knees is that this series is taking place during the same time line so some of the stories overlap and it gives you a different perspective of events as they are happening.

Happy Reading!!!

Dax was the fourth book in the Arizona Vengeance series by Sawyer Bennett.

Calvin “Dax” Monahan was a star player for the Vengeance NHL team. He was a veteran and had just lost his best friend from childhood and NHL peer, Lance Miles, unexpectedly in a random murder.

Regan Miles was the little sister to Lance. She lost her parents when she was in high school and her brother had taken over her guardianship. She had known Dax forever so when Dax pushed to help her after Lance’s death, she let him.

Dax was told with a dual POV and the timeframe overlapped with the previous book. I really enjoyed getting to know the mind and heart of both Dax and Regan. They were both likable characters and tugged on my heartstrings. Bennett also tackled a tough medical issue, PNH, which added depth and complexity to the plot. I wasn’t familiar with PNH, but I assume Bennett depicted it fairly accurate.

As a whole, I enjoyed the storyline. It was a little slow for me in parts and had more monologue than I was desiring but neither of those were big deterrents to my enjoyment. Additionally, I would have liked a little more detail with Lance’s death. As two people who were incredibly close to him, catching the murderer would have been a priority in real life. Otherwise, it was well written and well developed. Bennett also set the stage well for the next two books, Tacker and Dominik respectively. I am definitely intrigued and can’t wait!

4.25 Stars!

Dax Monahan’s story is taking place simultaneously to the previous book, Legend. There are some incidents from Legend’s story that partially played out in this book. It definitely entertwines the two stories. There are also things that are clearly setting up for Tacker’s story which is the next book.

Dax's goes to meet his best friend Lance Miles little sister in New York. Lance was killed in a mugging gone wrong which we knew form book 3. Regan Miles grew up around Dax and his family but she isn’t a little girl anymore and has grown up to be a beautiful independent woman.

I really liked the dynamic between Dax and Regan. Their attraction to one another but yet not thinking they should act upon it. The whole thing with Regan’s illness put a different spin on what would have been just a regular “Best friends younger sister romance” or even “friends to lovers” trope.

Good book and I am really looking forward to Tackers story and even more so Domonik’s story!!!

Audiobook Review

Overall 4 stars
Performance 4 stars
Story 3.5 stars

I really enjoyed the narration by Aiden Snow and Virginia Rose. Rose gave an emotional performance as Regan and really captured her vulnerability and pain. Snow's deep voice was perfect for Dax, but I did find it was too gruff for the female characters (which is understandable). There wasn't a ton of variation in his other characters as well, so there were a few times I wasn't sure which character was speaking at first.

*****

3.5 stars

Dax is a sexy best friend's little sister/marriage of convenience romance. The story is book 4 in the series and runs along the same timeline as the previous book, Legend, but can be read as a stand alone. For maximum enjoyment though, I definitely recommend them since previous characters appear throughout the series.

Dax and Regan had amazing chemistry and I really loved the progression of their friendship to more. They have known each other their whole lives and I think that added a sweetness to their connection that I don't always feel. Yes, there is push and pull between them as the lines get blurred, but I liked that there wasn't any unnecessary drama between them (or if there was, it was resolved quickly). I think what made this a less engaging read for me, was that it felt like this book spent just as much time on Dax and Regan as it did setting up the next books in the series. Don't get me wrong - I can't wait to read Tacker (I just want to hug this man so much!!) and Dominik's (YUM with a capital Y!) stories, but I felt like it took away too much of the spotlight from Dax and Regan. I did love seeing all the previous couples (Erik and Blue!) and characters as well as getting to know Willow, Dax's sister and the likely love interest of team owner Dominik Carlson. An enjoyable read overall and I'm excited to continue on with the series!

THIS STORY .... *swoon*

There are so many aspects of this story that pleased me.

First, the organic way Dax just fell over himself for Regan. He hadn’t seen her in years. He wasn’t harboring a secret crush on her for years. He just came to her rescue in the way that he did because it’s just who he was, without a thought for himself. He jumped. And that made me swoon from page one. And the progression from helping her to being her one and only didn’t feel insta in the least. Yes, the attraction was instant, she is after all a beautiful woman, but it didn’t come across like that. I have to give Sawyer mad props for pulling this off as beautifully as she did.

Second, the way Regan’s health issues were dealt with. If it’s one thing I can count on is that Sawyer Bennett does her research. Yes, you’d think this would be the case for all writers but alas, not so much. But it’s not just that she immerses herself in the subject matter but that she also depicts the situation correctly and with respect.

From the day I read my first book written by Sawyer many years ago, I have never even been tempted not to one-click every single book she publishes. And her skill gets better and better as the books keep coming. I cannot recommend this author enough AND this book.

Now …. for the love of all that is holy can someone please tell me who is going to be the lucky woman (or man) to save Tacker from himself

Dax.

We already heard some of his story in Legend's story. This book takes place around the same time - at least some of it is overlapping.

In Legend we heard that Dax's best buddy back in New York has died and that he went to help his sister with the funeral and other things.

The little sister of his best friend. The little girl who used to follow them everywhere ...

She's not that little girl anymore. And she desperately needs his help now. And the only way to help is to marry her.

Living together as a married couple without touching and falling for each other?

Let's see how that goes ... ☺

WHAT WiLL HAPPEN TO REGAN & DAX??
WiLL THERE BE A HAPPiLY EVER AFTER?
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT! ☺☺☺

Book 4! Yay!

We already heard some of this story in Legend's book and I was really excited to find out what would happen with Dax and his buddy's sister.

And it's adorable. And really heartbreaking.
And it's also really funny and full of sparks and tension and sexiness.

I adored Dax and Regan. That poor boy is so not ready for his happily ever after - he thinks he has a lot of single-guy-living still to enjoy. Too bad the woman of his dreams is now living with him. Plus she's also his wife. It's just adorable! I loved it. Great romance!

There's also a bit of Tacker in this book - he is still one of my favorites of the bunch of players - we so need to get his story - but he still has a long road of healing ahead of him until he can fall in forever ever love! But he'll tell us his story very soon! Can't wait! And then it's Dominik and Willow. Their story has already started too. YAY!!!

DAX was an adorable & sexy & heartbreaking hockey love story!
Run to your nearest amazon for your own Dax - this one is MINE!!!

A cute, sexy and touching hockey romance.

After losing his best friend in a senseless mugging, NHL star Dax Monahan goes to New York to support his best friend’s little sister who he’s known since she was born and has grown up to be the most beautiful woman he’s ever laid eyes on.

When Dax learns that the stunning Regan Miles is in need of help and the only way to do so is by marrying her, he doesn’t hesitate. His protective alpha male comes to the fore and orders her to move to Arizona with him. Obviously it’s just for show, but as the two of them are forced to cohabitate, their long lasting friendship turns into more when infused with their red hot chemistry.

I don’t often read friends to lovers stories where neither character is attracted to the other. There’s usually some sort of unrequited love involved. But in the case of Dax and Regan, they had both grown up caring for each other as family which caused confusing emotions because as grownups they were very much attracted to each other. While Dax thought he had many wild bachelor years ahead of him and Regan envisioned herself working in California, their fake marriage shows them a whole new future they had never thought of but most certainly want.

You can count on Sawyer Bennett to pen unique storylines no matter how many books she’s written in a series or genre. With Dax, we don’t just get a hooking original love story, we get more about the still single men (cough Tacker, cough cough Dominik) and a different perspective of beloved past characters’ accounts.

Dax is book #4 of the Arizona Vengeance series by Sawyer Bennett. It’s a friends to lovers, forbidden romance, told from both points of view with a happy ending.

After getting glimpses of Dax from the previous books in this series I couldn't wait to read his story and his story was definitely a book with so many feels. Dax and Regan's story was heartfelt, all-consuming, emotional and one you just wanted to keep reading and never stop. Dax and Reagan have known each other for years, grew up together but what happens when that friendship line blurs and becomes more? What happens when your bestfriend dies and you are trusted to take care of his sister, to help her through the loss but instead a relationship forms one that wasn't expected but you refuse to give it up? You need to read this book, this series because it's one you can't put down!

I am really enjoying this series!
I am in my groove. I think this might be my favorite book yet. Dax swoops in and become a knight in hockey armor. ;) See what I did there.

Regan is a close friend and I love that she has Dax and his family in her life after she loses her brother the way she does. Then there is her health and I think what Dax does is pretty freaking great.

I also totally love that they feel for each other in the likely of unlikely of ways. I mean you had to see it coming. Again I love that Sawyer doesn’t follow the romance rules because it keeps you listening.

The narrators are 2 of my very favorites! The fact that each book is different makes the experience unique. Love it!

There are so many different tropes that this dual POV book can fall into. We have Brothers Best Friend, Sports Romance, Marriage of Convenience and I love them all. Sawyer Bennett does a lot of things right, and one of my most cherished things from her are the sports romance. She has two hockey series and this one is fast becoming my favourite.

Dax Monahan is on the Arizona Vengeance team and his life is full of anything and everything hockey. He is still grieving from losing his best friend Lance who he grew up with. Regan Miles is Lance’s little sister who is now all alone and very much in trouble. Dax would move the world to help her and tries his best at it.

I adored Dax. He was sweet, confident and a little dominant but so very swoon worthy. Regan was a smidge sassy, totally fetching and fascinating. What started out as a life saving decision for Regan bought about something entirely off the radar for both of them. I enjoyed reading how this couple finally reached their HEA.

I was also excited to read the excerpt of Tacker’s tale at the end of this book. What gave me a gasp though was discovering the Vengeance owner, Dominik Carlson, will be getting his own book! Excellent! If you haven’t started this series yet, I highly recommend you do.

I absolutely love what Sawyer Bennett is doing with this series. I love how all the stories are woven together on the same timeline so we get peeks into what's going on with the other characters over the courses of different books. It feels a little bit like a soap opera - these relationships, friendships, and life drama continually fleshed out and advancing with each new offering.

And yet somehow, these still work as a standalone. It wouldn't be my recommended way of reading them, because - as I mentioned - one of my favorite things is how these are all linked together. But if this was the first book you picked up, you likely would have no problem reading it and I feel like that accomplishment is some kind of genius in and of itself.

Anyway, I was more than excited to dive into Dax's story, and it did not disappoint. Despite the fact that Dax and Regan's story is framed by tragedy, the angst in this one is relatively low. Things do move quickly, but the story is packed full of emotional and physical chemistry in a way that didn't make anything feel too fast for me. It maybe helped that Dax and Regan had a history that went beyond these pages, so a baseline of affection already existed. In any case, it was no challenge to love these characters and to buy into their love story. It somehow felt like a light and easy read, even though there were plenty of emotional issues packed within.

As always, I completely enjoyed the bromance between these Vengeance players. I daresay this team is something special, that their brotherhood maybe goes even deeper than the usual sports romance bromances. There's a sweetness in the way they care for each other and some of the most rewarding scenes were those centered around the brotherhood. The set-up for the series going forward is beyond intriguing and my heart is already 1000% on board.

What else can I say? It was sweet and sexy and utterly unputdownable! Ms. Bennett has a gift for these alpha males with the irresistible soft underbellies and at this rate, I don't think I'll ever get enough of it! ~ Shelly, 4 Stars

I'm sorry to say this is the first book I've read in this series but I'm sure it won't be the last! And I really want to read the first three now.

This was a fantastic read. The subject matter was a little heavy but it was handled well and never became oppressive. And I loved the angle with this story! Kind of friends to lovers with a bit of taboo best friends sister thing thrown in. I love the way Dax steps right up when he learns what's up with Regan. And I thought Regan's acceptance of that help was taken in the manner it was given, with a lifetime of love!

All that being said, don't get me wrong, the heat factor was through the roof! After all, this is a Sawyer Bennett book! That's all y'all are getting from me, no spoilers here. If you want to read a great book, pick up Dax! Coming in July!!!

So. Much. Goodness!

This entire book hit all my happy buttons and then some. Not only did I love and adore Dax and Regan’s journey to their HEA, but I got all the family feels from the Vengeance crew that made it so easy for me to get lost in the pages and really hard to accept that I’d have to wait for the next book (especially since the next book is the one I’ve been making grabby hands at since meeting the man in Bishop’s book).

Dax and Regan. These two I adored. They drove me a tinsy bit batshitcrazy, but I still adored them. Dax is all kinds of laid back, yet cocky, and charming alpha male with a golden heart and when he’s in, he’s all in. Regan is one sweet, sassy and strong woman. She’s had the rug pulled out from under her quite a few times in her life, but she’s come out stronger for it.

I thoroughly enjoyed their journey to their HEA. It was low on angst, and the true affection, and attraction they had to one another jumped off the page, but man did these two have me rolling my eyes a lot. I totally understood why they were...conflicted, I did, but had they stopped believing they could read each other’s minds things could have gone a little smoother...well, okay, there were many foot meet mouth moments too, but...Regardless, I loved Dax and Regan together. Their bantering was a lot of fun, the smexy was HOT and considering all that was going on, I really liked that their roadblock was a small one and easily navigated around.

I’ve been a #fangirl of the authors for awhile and no doubt the Cold Fury series is one of my fav Hockey romances, but I’m absolutely loving this one. A lot of my love comes from the fact that we are getting to watch this team come together and become a family and things definitely get intense in this one in that department. I loved hanging out with Erik, Bishop and Legend and getting to meet a few more of the players, as well as Dominik, but Tacker...that man is the one that has captured my interest from the start and I cannot wait for his book!

Note: This one does run concurrent with part of Legend’s book, though you don’t have to read it first to enjoy Dax, but know that you will see how certain situations in Legend story play out.

Oh the feels…

Grief and worry didn’t keep Regan from carrying on but Dax knew right away there was something wrong. The connection they had over years of friendship meant when Regan was fighting a battle she couldn’t win on her own, Dax was quick to step in and offer his shoulder, himself, to help her…

Dax was an amazing white knight as he shot down every argument Regan had. What she was going through eased but also became more complicated as their lives intertwined in something more than a business arrangement.

I am a huge fan of this author’s hockey romances and the Arizona Vengeance series just keeps on giving the good stuff! While the action this time was more off the ice, the off-season didn’t mean there was less drama or support from the team family. Dax’s sister and the team owner added spice to this emotion-fueled read that had tears as well as joy. I flipped pages like the book was in a wind storm as each page had me falling deeper into the world of Vengeance…

Tacker’s story is next and I am on super stalking mode. More hints and glimpses of what he is going through has me jones-ing for what I’m sure is going to be a tissue-worthy read! ~Diane, 4.5 stars

Review by Trinette Dungee

Dax Monohan’s life has been hockey for as long as he can remember. It’s always been his main priority, so relationships have never been his thing. No way would a woman want to come second to his first love. He’s had his share of women and he’s pretty happy with his life for now. When he receives the shocking news that his best friend has been murdered he starts to look at life differently and when he learns his best friend’s little sister needs him in ways he never imagined he does the one thing he thinks can fix it all…he marries her.

When I read “Bishop” (book one in the AV series) and was first introduced to Dax I thought he was an okay dude, a bit of a player but for the most part, he was okay. As the series progressed I began to see more and more that he was actually one of the good guys who would do anything for his friends.

Finding out Regan is suffering from a life-threatening disease with no way of paying for the treatments he does what he thinks his deceased best friend would want him to do. He offers Regan marriage as a way of having her medical expenses covered. They’d be married in name only because there is no way it could be any other way with the woman he’s always seen as a younger sister. Dax and Regan quickly realize that this arrangement is not going to work as smoothly as they both thought because for Dax, Regan is not longer a little girl. She’s a grown woman that has him having fantasies that Lance most definitely wouldn’t appreciate.

I have to say; this story did not go in the direction I thought it would. I really thought after the loss of his friend Dax would go through a downward spiral to some extent. He didn’t though he was the true “take charge” kind of guy who got the job done. He was a little pushy at time but because it was coming from his heart that you kind of just get over and let it slide. His heart was just as big as his love for hockey, if not bigger.

Dax’s story kind of takes place parallel to Legend’s story so there’s some overlapping but nothing that overshadows or takes away from Dax’s story. Unless of course you didn’t read Legend’s story, then you might wonder what all that was about, but you’d never do that because you’d read Sawyer’s books in order, right? I digress. Anywho, you get to see the full Dax and his family dynamic and his family values and how he views teammates as his brothers. He’s definitely good in a crisis!

For whatever reason, I really didn’t think I was going to like Regan but I liked her and I loved her and Dax together. I thought their chemistry was awesome. While the hotness is there, not ever guy is always going to be the swoon worthy guy. For me Dax is the guy you want to see happy with the woman of his dreams but for you he’s the older brother you wish had. That’s where Dax lands on the meter for me. He’s a good guy, he’s a sweet guy, he’s a loving guy and I just want to hang with him!!!

Now no Sawyer Bennett book would be complete without the indication of storylines to come of other characters and Dax is no different. I think the storyline that’s been intriguing most of us is Tacker’s story. We get a little more Tacker in this book too and it just makes waiting for his story that much harder. She even gives a little excerpt of Tacker’s story at the end of Dax but I couldn’t read it, it would be too much of a tease.

As if that isn’t bad enough, we are also introduced to Dominick Carlson, owner of the Arizona Vengeance and he has his sights set on no other than Dax’s sister Willow and based on the personalities of those two their story seems to be shaping up to be an explosive story.

Another slam dunk for Sawyer.
