Book - Twenty Eight plus one
Author - Nilakshi Garg
Pages - 113

Having had no understanding of this book's content before opening it, I must admit it rocked my little world a bit. When I first received my copy this morning I thought this would be like just another poetry book I come across everyday.
But this one left me stunned. It's is purely a work of fiction. I finished reading it in a single sitting because it's an unputdownable as well as multifaceted poetry collection.
This books revolves around everything wrong, wicked, corrupt(ed) and withered in the brethren of humanity. There are 29 episodes of unending sufferance in a searing, biting, captivating and evocative voice.
Few episodes that left be speechless :
1. Earth Wants To Be Ruined - talks about Earth falling for Humanity after bouts of torture and slavery.

2. Be Steel and Alloy - appeals you to realise your self worth and be the voice of your heart.

3. Scream For Help! - Talks about the wife's helplessness being tortured by her narcissist husband behind the closed-door.

4. Blue Ceiling - Grey Walls - revolves around narrator begging to be saved, looking forward to a therapist for help but at the end was left helpless.

Apart from these, other episodes like "The Unhappiest", " And shouted, "Baby", " The Red Handkerchief " and many more also blew away my mind.

Through this crafty poems the author wants to shout and, not simply sell but tell, call out on everything the economy bears wrong, in the present society and the world. This book didn't just touched my heart but also left an impact on my mind. The author, very beautifully sets a bar for the world to learn how to communicate, the art of love, happiness, humanity, along with brokenness, hurt, and profanity.

I would highly recommend this to those looking for fresh, thought provoking, and unforgettable stories. I repeat the author's perspective will leave you stunned. This is one of my most favourite read of this year till date. However, some poems are explicit and graphic and might have trigger or content warning. Readers above 18+ can definitely give this a try. Highly recommended.❤

“Why did you take that break? / I want to ask and shut at you,/ Why did you go to that concert?/ Where nobody ever knew,/ something like that could happen,/ when a drunken band member,/ would kidnap a foreigner for a fix,/ shoot her with an unlicensed gun for his kick.”- [Come back and tease me all you want]

It’s a quite tragic story where the narrator lost her best friend during the time of a vacation. Here, she blames her best friend for going to that concert and dying. She is remembering her and the tragic incident and calling out her best friend to come back to her.

“Lucky,/ you remember nothing of that episode,/ easily blanked out by smart brain the next morning,/ so, take my words and hide under your bed,/ because the public is on fire, parents already mourning;/ May these words give you a second chance,/ but nothing is of surety here;/ I am only to fill public’s eye with another glance,/ but acquitting their kids’ killer—is it not unfair?”- [Take my words and hide under your bed]

It’s another tragic event where a person shot a kid and surprisingly got acquitted. In real life, it’s an everyday story where this happens that justice fails people.

The author has given voice to every wrong that exists in society. This is her debut poetry book and it highlights the multiple aspects of society and tells numerous tales from a different point of view- as we’ve never read before. I liked the poetries as they are thought-provoking and eye-opening. I highly recommend it.

Author Nilakshi Garg shares some poetic stories of realizations, heartache, family trauma, healing, blooming love, and finding meaning in life. There are the poems that will make your heart race. There are moments when one becomes serious, there are moments when one forgets all the bad and the ugly in life and tries to keep moving on. These are poems that one can treasure the most cause these are stories of resilience. The vast majority of the poems are pleasant and relatable, but there are some flashes of a darker side too.

This book was everything and more!! The poems are beautiful and so meaningful therefore I highly recommend it.

My favourite and heart touching shoetry is “Son’s Terror”.

Gripping

I started writing poetry at a young age so I've always been a fan. I particularly like this collection because it's dark and true to life, as it discusses topics such as war, trauma and abandonment. It's also well written, thought provoking and compelling. I recommend to any true lover of poetry

The poetries laced in this book were impossible dark and thought-pending. Never knew poetries could be laced with such perspective and narratives for scenes like adoption, lesbian love, plagiarism content, world war or civil war, and gun violence.
Each such poetry hit home and made me rethink of the worldview. Kudos to this Indian poet!! Keep writing more!!
