It was a bad idea from the beginning.

He was my brother's best friend and the definition of unavailable.

But I didn't care.

I had loved him for as long as I could remember.

He was worth the risk. He was worth everything.

But then he broke my heart as easily as I fell for him. He watched me fall, spiraling out of control, and as I reached for him, he wasn't there to catch me.

So I ran.

Four years later, I never expected to see him again.

He was still my brother's best friend, and he was more unavailable than ever.

He looked every bit the bad boy I knew he was, covered in tattoos and a crooked smile.

Guarding my heart from him was top priority because Parker James was where good girls go to die.

Unfortunately for him, I wasn't a good girl anymore.

Holy crap. That was EPIC. Omg. Just WOAH MAMA! I'm not even kidding Where Good Girls Go To Die is one book I will not forget easily! Started and finished in 3.5hrs. Purely owned by one SPECTACULAR read. My gosh. GAH! Just WOW.

This book has been sat on my kindle for a week now, that STUNNING cover staring at me, demanding I read. So I did.. firstly that opening chapter is PHENOMENAL. I mean that is how you open a book. I was sucked right in and I just knew this book would overtake every part of me.

As the book rolls on I was only pulled in deeper. The feels in this book are just OFF THE CHARTS. Honestly, my heart pounded and skin tingled the whole way through. The delicious tension, that push and pull that I ADORE in my books hit all my spots, kicking off an addiction that I chased through to the end.

Parker and Livy are EVERYTHING. Their love story wasn’t a perfect happy, sappy romance novel, no way... Instead, it was complicated, intense, filled with lies, heartbreak, and secrets. It was brutal and raw and downright dangerous. It was love and hate all rolled into one. It was passion and devotion. It was beautiful in its own right. They burned me, from the inside out. They poured themselves into me stealing my breath, my heart and my soul. Both written superbly, I easily connected to both Parker and Livy. I felt everything they did. I loved them. I want more of them.

“When we heard the door shut again, she finally released a deep, shuddering breath, and it was as if I could feel it filling my own lungs. It was the deepest breath I had taken since she stole it so many years ago.” <-- Words like this make up this incredible story. Words that are so fluent and flawless. So powerful. Holly well and truly owned me with her words.

Where Good Girls Go To Die by Holly Renee is easily going to be a top read of 2017 for me! It was my dream book. The sort I crave, devour and LOVE for all time. I only have 5 stars but mannnnn, it deserves sooo many more. Bravo Holly Renee. Bra-fuckin-vo.

I started Where Good Girls Go to Die last night before I went to bed. That probably wasn’t the best idea, because I completely devoured this book from beginning to end! I thought maybe it was short, because of how fast I was moving through it. I even looked on Amazon to see how many pages were in the book. 340 pages! Not short at all! That’s good writing, my friends! This is the only thing I have ever read by this author, but it won’t be for long! I LOVE her writing style, and I can guarantee that I will be one-clicking many more of her books in the future!

Parker is at a strip club with a group of his friends for his bachelor party. The masked woman that walks onto the stage is gorgeous and seems very familiar. When she makes her way to him, she recognizes him immediately. He is the reason she is up on the stage. Parker held her heart in the palm of his hands once upon a time, before he crushed it.

Livy’s brother and Parker’s best friend, Mason, doesn’t have a problem recognizing her even with the mask on…the mask that he promptly rips off and demands that she come back home. She wants to go home, but that is where Parker is. It hurts just to look at him, and now, she has to see him with his fiancé.

Moving back home means Livy needs a new job. When one of her brother’s friend, Brandon, offers her a job as a receptionist at his tattoo shop, she jumps at the chance. It’s not until her first day of work that she learns Parker is Brandon’s partner. Parker is shocked to see Livy when he walks into work. He hasn’t been able to get her out of his head for years, and now he is going to have to see her every day. Parker is getting married to a woman he cares for, but Livy was the love of his life.
How do you learn to be “just friends” with the person that owns your heart? Will they be able to work side by side and keep everything strictly professional? They will have to, because Parker is getting married soon. This isn’t their second chance at love…or is it?

Like I said before, this was my first experience with this author’s work, and I really didn’t know what to expect. Honestly, the title is what made me want to read the book. I had hoped it would be at the least an okay read. Lucky for me, it was much more than that! This book is super addictive! One you start, you won’t want to stop! From the very first page, I knew this was going to be a good time. I was fully invested after the first chapter! I needed to know what happened to break Parker and Livy apart and if they could be put back together.

The story is told in dual point of view that moves back and forth from past to present, so we are able to get their full story in alternating perspectives. Parker and Livy are both likable characters that make you want them to get their HEA. The only disappointing thing for me was the source of the main conflict. It is just a big misunderstanding that could have been completely avoided if they would have talked about it for a few seconds. I HATE that! That’s how I know this was an awesome story, because it didn’t take that much away from my overall enjoyment. It did knock a star off my rating, but I still enjoyed the hell out of it.

Where Good Girls Go to Die is perfectly paced, captivating, sexy, and sweet! I’m so happy that I decided to give this one a try, and you will be, too! Second chance romance fans, this one is for you!!

When you have a hero who is more than happy to hurt two women and not make a decision until someone else tells him what to do, he's really not worth it. And the heroine was all talk. One minute she's saying she'll never forgive him. Next thing, she's more than willing to fuck him while he's still engaged. Oh, and I'm supposed to believe he loved her the whole time he was fucking other girls, including his fiancee. Yep...another one of those.

4.5 I Was the Temptress Stars ⭐

~Second Read. Damn I forgot how good this was!~

Where Good Girls go to Die is a story that immediately sucks you in with this author’s poignant writing and emotional depth while you're feeling gutted the entire time. It's a tale of young love ending badly, and all the good feelings that turn ugly. Where bad decisions are made from spite and anger to mask the heartbreak.

"Not because my story was one of tragedy, but it was one of heartbreak. I let a man destroy me, and as a result, I became a coward."

Livy had been in love with her brother’s best friend Parker for what feels like an eternity. Although Parker reciprocated her feelings, their love was a dirty secret. Being young at the time, neither of them were able to deal with the fallout. This prompted Livy to take matters in her own hands and leave.

Present day sees Livy embracing a new persona as a stripper leaving her old life behind. When caught in a compromising position she has no choice but to return home to face the music. But home is Parker, and Parker has moved on. Can a person die a second time?

"I may have been a good girl then, but you destroyed every piece of her. I actually feel bad, because you, Parker James, are where good girls go to die."

You may think Parker is the villain, (a fucking gorgeous one at that!) yet he always believed he had Livy’s best interests at heart. Unfortunately, his good intentions failed. Now there is no denying he’s in a bind. One that involves a triangle of new love and an old love he destroyed.

The road to forgiveness is tainted. But god this journey was worth it even if you know instinctively someone will lose. Gritty, emotional and steamy, but totally satisfying to read. Especially when I feel like quality relationships in books are hard to find.

I am SCREAMING at how horrifically bad this 'romance' was, oh my GOD.

Here's a frantic review to expunge my feelings before I explode with rage. The so-called 'hero' had a fling with the heroine four years ago, then pushes her away when an OW turns up pregnant. She miscarries, he goes to find the heroine again, hears she was on a date, so he gives up and slinks away. First sign of the pathetic loser he soon reveals himself to be.

Four years later they re-enter each other's lives. He is now ENGAGED TO BE MARRIED to yet another OW. His internal thoughts about this OW were almost unbearable. He constantly affirms how much he loves her, that meeting her helped him forget about the heroine, that she makes him feel like he can breathe!!!!!!! I could have quite happily skewered him with a rusty fork. That doesn't stop him emotionally and physically cheating on the OW with the heroine.

I am not actually automatically opposed to heroes who cheat on an OW WITH a heroine, but it doesn't work at ALL here because he's a pathetic loser who isn't brave enough to try and win back the heroine. Instead, he wants to have his cake and eat it too; the f*cking stupid heroine lets him. The heroine hates the OW instead of the hero, who more properly should be the target of her ire, considering he's too scared to say he publicly wants her!

This 'romance' was so incredibly bad that I need to go and read something else now for immediate stress relief.

Overall Opinion: I was looking for some major angst when I decided to pick this book up, and sadly I just didn't get it. I always struggle with the couples that have known each other forever and then we are expected to believe they fell in love with no development into those stronger feelings being provided, and that happens here. On the other hand -- I absolutely love the stories that have the characters grow with each other from children to adults and we experience all the things that make those feelings change! I felt like this simply missed the mark. I didn't ever fully feel their connection, and that made it hard for me to root for them when it was such a struggle for them to be together. The ending though?!? Downright pis$ed me off. We experience this couple in both the past and present and all the struggles they faced, and we don't even get a HEA?!? The abrupt ending coupled with my lack of connection to the characters make it so I can't justify a rating higher than 2.5 stars. Bummer, because I really was in the mood for a good angstfest :(

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Livy and Parker's story. They've known each other almost all of their lives since Parker is best friends with Livy's older brother. They cross the line right before Livy graduates high school, and things end up not working out. About four years later, they are reunited in an unexpected way -- but Parker is now engaged to another woman, and they have to work in close proximity with all their past history looming over their heads. They have some big obstacles and some big truths that need to be dealt with, they have some sexy times...and they get a HFN ending.

POV: This alternated between Livy and Parker's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good until the really abrupt ending. I never skimmed and I thought it flowed well otherwise. It bounces between past and present, but I thought that ran pretty smoothly.

Instalove: No, they've known each other most of their lives.

H rating: 3 stars. Parker. I think he should've communicated better, been more honest with himself, and ended things sooner than he did.

h rating: 4 stars. Livy. I liked her. She tried to move on and she didn't push it when he was with the OW.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: No

OW/OM drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: Yes (not between mcs)

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: I was totally ticked off with that ending! I was expecting some type of closure with a glimpse into their future together, but all I got was a graphic that said "The End"!! We have all this build up for them to finally get together and then -- . I would call this a HFN ending. Yeah...I'm ticked :/

How I got it: It was part of my kindle unlimited subscription.

Safety: This one is probably Not Safe for most safety gang readers

I may have been a good girl then, but you destroyed every piece of her...
you, Parker James, are where good girls go to die.”

This book kept coming up on my Instagram and TikTok recs and the description of it sounded so up my alley, I may have salivated. Brother's best friend who broke her heart four years ago so she ran, only to reunite with him as a stripper...at his own bachelor's party. Can you say plot twist? I mean, I could practically taste the angst.

But then I got past the first 10% of this book and it was just...

There was little to no angst. I mean, maybe it tried to be angst, but it didn't feel like angst. More like a long drawn out miscommunication trope that spans over 4 years. Le sigh. That alone is a hard pass for me in general, but then there was the pacing. It was just too fast. It felt like a high speed chase with random turns in the form of flashbacks. The pacing was just so off. This could have been so good with a bit more meat on it and more development. I would have loved more character development, but you get random quick glimpses that simply aren't enough to connect you to the characters.

I don't mind other woman drama, but you get it twice here, and it was just too much. First the ex from Parker's past, and then his fiancé in the present. Though the present isn't as dramatic, but still. It just felt redundant. The development from then to now was lacking, and the few glimpses we get of flashbacks isn't enough to fill in the gaps on how a good girl turns away from her entire family and decides to strip for money.

And then the ending? It was like a speed race to a HEA...if you can even call it that. More like a happy conclusion. I would have loved more development there, an epilogue even. But as it was, it felt a bit like a slap in the face of everything these two go through for it to resolve so anticlimactic and quickly.

All in all, a quick albeit entirely forgettable read.

TW for miscarriage and cheating

I saw this book on Tik Tok and it sounded intriguing, so I decided to read the audiobook. It's a brother's best friend and second chance romance, so I was excited to get to this. The beginning of the book stars with Livy working at a strip club and her brother showing up in a Bachelor party for his best friend, who just so happens to be the guy Livy had a secret fling with in high school before becoming heartbroken and leaving for college. I loved the angst in this book, especially since Parker is engaged in the present time. We get chapters that flash to the past so that we understand their romaine and what went wrong and why Parker is so adamant that he wants to settle for someone safe and not someone who scares him like Livy. Livy ends up getting a job where Parker works, though, so it's impossible to ignore each other. Parker does cheat in this book, so know that going in if cheating bothers you.

I think that the beginning of this book was a little disjointed from the rest of the book and I wish the author chose a different way Parker and Livy ran into each other in the present. It didn't really make sense why Livy would throw away her education and become a stripper and was hiding from her parents and family. We do get a reason, but that felt blown way out of proportion for Livy to pretty much give up on her life and have no aspirations whatsoever and give up on any dreams she had. I did, though, love when Livy got a new job and had to work with Parker and go to a conference with him. I loved their chemistry and how hard Parker tried to move on and not give in to Livy. This was a great romance and I'm excited to read more from this author!

Really good writing was completely wasted on a badly executed plot, misogynistic female representation and a clichéd case of miscommunication.

From maybe six women in this book, only the heroine and this one piercer lady were not evil, catty or toxic. But then again, the aggressive way the heroine wanted to smash faces of every woman who showed interest or (god forbid) was engaged to the hero? Jeeez.
Said hero was the saddest example of immature indecisiveness who acted like a child, despite all his adult accomplishments.

And while we are at it, where were the heroine's accomplishments in all this? She ran away to college on a full scholarship yet somehow managed to land in a strip club four years later. And before you say anything, there is nothing wrong with being a stripper, if you do it because you freaking enjoy it! Yet it was stated (repeatedly) how much the heroine hated it and how dirty and ashamed she felt dancing...

So yeah, the characters and their actions didn't make sense and the plot was full of huge holes. Such a waste of an amazing opening. Because the first maybe 9% were awesome!

This is a new author for me, I thought heck why not try someone new for a change so I took the chance, and wow it blew me away.

This is a book on 'Livy' and Parker whom fall in love with each other at the age of 16 to then have their hearts broken, years later to let time heal old wounds. This book is raw and the characters are nothing but beautifully damaged. There's though something so strong and powerful about the story and the words that are written here, there's a meaning behind it all that had me turning the pages time and time again.

So what's it about?
Parker is a character that is full of regret maybe? A character that covers is body in the art he creates, but he is beautiful in many ways. He loves the one girl he's been into since a teen and you know in those times your emotions are full alert, for both Parker and Livy I'd say the cause to most choices are mis-communication. This read goes back fours years prier to present where you get the full picture, the pain, the love and even the friendship that blossomed into more.

 photo 6E4E2BA2-05FA-4319-9A80-0FC6E9E0061F_zps8dcy7ckk.jpg

Aside from the plot I'd say more so than anything this is a character driven book, it's about one strong kick ass heroine whom doesn't let anything get in her way for enjoying the party, she lives to the fullest. And then there's Parker who needs to make the best choice for his life. He's full of that inner Alpha when it comes to Livy haha I loved loved loved their chemistry, their pain and EVERYTHING that they are. Ohhh man Soooo many feels

 photo C390D80A-D70C-417C-BEC5-355FA642D429_zpsk3faoyeg.jpg

To conclude this book is AMAZING, it's addictive, loving, sensual, beautiful and is the kind of book that you WILL DEVOUR in hours, I could not put it down. That is all, but please, please, please read this, I highly highly recommend it. It's a beautiful second chance romance, and who doesn't love those right?

Enjoy Xoxo.

Where Good Girls Go To Die was a fun and sexy ride about heartbreak and second chances. This story was fast paced and it only made me want to read and not put it down. I enjoyed Livy and Parker's history and undeniable chemistry. They've know each other since they were kids. Livy has been in love with Parker since she can remember and vice versa but their young love doesn't last. The reason for their break up was a little predictable and has been done before numerous times but it didn't ruin my experience.
I loved their sizzling hot connection and both the flashback and the present chapters were fabulous and kept me glued to my kindle. Their love is crazy intense, possessive and forever.
The secondary characters were amazing too. I loved Mason, Brandon and Staci. They added some comic relief to the story. If there's another book in the series I don't care who it is as long as it's one of three I mentioned above. I'm hooked and I hope there's more.

I waned to read this for a very long time...
And sadly, I'm disappointed by reading this.

Livy have been in love with Parker, her brother's best friend. They get briefly together, and then something happens, after which Livy runs. But after four years, after another event, Livy comes back. Parker is unattainable yet again. Could she keep her distance this time?

“I may have been a good girl then, but you destroyed every piece of her. I actually feel bad for Emily, because you, Parker James, are where good girls go to die.”

This book was disappointed me on many levels. To name them :-

This book is nothing but some characters driven with angst and some questionable decision making. I felt the book was just filled with pretty words with no pretty meaning.

I loved this book SO MUCH!!! It was smokin Hot. It was Laugh Out Loud funny. It was heartbreaking. It felt REAL. The first few sentences sucked me in and I didn't put this book down until the end. Let me say, both Livy and Parker's first POV chapters are the way all books should start! Parker was the sexy bad boy that has loved and lost Livy. Livy is the strong yet broken girl we can all relate to. After four years with no contact their reunion starts off with a bang! Well, it starts off with Shameless by The Weeknd ...which is so much better! Even though they are reconnecting after years their new relationship is a slow burn that I adored. The "secondary" characters, Mason-Livy's brother, Brandon and Staci-the BFFs were awesome! I'm dying for Brandon to get his story next! Fingers are crossed.
Holly Renee has been officially put on my list of favorite authors after just this one book! Actually, I'm excited to read more from her right away! To ALL my romance loving friends... Read this book! You won't be disappointed!!

This is purely for the concept of the book, one of my favourite tropes, ex lovers who meet again and H is in a relationship with OW. If I rated the first scene on its own it was a 4* start. Unfortunately beyond the explosive start, we didn't get much depth with past misunderstandings seemingly normal in light of the expectations set in the first chapter.
In my view, there was a total disconnect from that first scene to the rest of the book. It seemed like the h was two different people. There were important unanswered questions, which without proper context make some things (like the first scene) look like superficial plot devices. She was ashamed of being a stripper but what then led her down that road. Her past heartbreak? that's it? yeh...so not believable. This was never explored or explained clearly. I also expected more angst, there were missed opportunities galore to exploit the angst angle.
The grammar threw me off sometimes but then my grammar leaves a lot to be desired. Still I kept reading it so that's something, especially when I've discovered that if I dnf the world doesn't come to an end.

wow I actually love this book I really do, but the downside to it is that Parker who is every tattooed hot sexy tall drink of water dream we ever wished for was an asshole. Yes I said it, asshole. I get why some didn't get into this story but you have to really take on board the beginning to where they/it all began.

I love Liv, I love her character. She's sweet and funny yet a little obnoxious, naive or whatever you call it but I get why she is, since she's been in love with Parker for forever, and I felt like she gave in too easy for him. Now for Parker, arrrrgh I don't get his character but I do love his alpha possessive persona yet I hate him. He's been in love with Liv since he was 16 years old and I still don't get why he became an ass which confuses me cause if you claim to love her why was it so hard for him to really convey his feelings. I don't think Liv's brother would have been so bad but it just riled me, and since Parker was engaged I felt like Liv didn't need to be treated in a way to that extent.

Overall though I'm not too happy with the ending and I wished that more could have come from the *abrupt* THE END hehe like it could have been better or more like sweeps me off my feet kind of Epilogue *winks*.

What an unexpected fun ride.

I literally read this cover to cover in one sitting. It was one of those books I just didn't want to put down.

This is my first book from this author and I promise you it won't be my last. This book goes from past to present, and if I've said it once I've said it twice, sometimes, those aren't my favorite stories because the past can become a bore. I'm always like get to the point...But not with this story. I loved how everything unfolded quickly, it wasn't a slow burn it was in your face, straight to the point, nothing was dragged. It was refreshing.

You meet Liv & Parker the high school sweethearts who didn't pan out because of the secrets, & lies that the past presented. It's now years later and let's just say Parker runs into Liv at her current employer. Parker who also happens to be Liv's brothers best friend. After Bringing Liv home after years of separation the two of them have to face the past whether they want to or not.

These two I was dying that they would get there second chance.

Parker & Liv I loved you both!

The fire was perfect no slow burn here. Just in your face perfection.

I loved this story. It was fresh & fun & sexy. I loved the whole plot. I can't wait to see where the next book in this series goes.

From the moment I read the first chapter of this story, I fell in love with Liv. Then Parker entered the scene and I was a goner.

Liv is the younger sister of Parker's best friend. She and Parker have been in love since they were teenagers, but some things happen, forcing them apart. Four years later, Fate draws them back together at the most crucial time of Parker's life. And after all the time that they spent apart, the attraction between them is stronger and the fire burns hotter. Brighter. When these two are in a room together, nothing else matters. It's just THEM and their love. But they are at crossroads. The more they try to stay apart from each other, the stronger the pull toward each other.
I loved each character in this story. Loved the angst, the humor and the realness of this story.Definitely a favorite of 2017.

Where Good Girls Go To Die shows that true love sometimes wins. It may take years to finally get there, but a heart wants what it wants.

Ugh! I wanted more dammit!!! I hate books with no epilogues!
I'm not usually a fan of books with cheating in them but for some reason this one didn't bother me much. lol

I hope we get more books on the others. Loved Brandon and Staci:))

Where Good Girls Go To Die is a dranatic toxic second chance relationship. I was not expecting the twist and the drama. The writing is good. Dramatic enough to bring the characters conflict to live. Miss Renee certainly will be on my watch.

I like the characters. They are not overly dramatic. The plot is enough to keep me in suspense.

Don’t let the cover and title fool you, this isn’t a romantic thriller… this is a second chance romance between Parker and Liv. The blurb sort of sets this up… Parker is Liv’s bro BFF and she has loved him FOREVER. (he was secretly smitten too) The two finally (secretly) get together just before she graduates then something happens causing her to run for the hills.

The book (Ch. 1) starts out with a bang, and I was hooked immediately. But, then we immediately embark on this choppy journey of bouncing back and forth between the past and present while nothing else is really happening.

One would expect this to be angsty AF with two different OW (past & present), but I wasn’t feeling it. We skip over the heartbreak for both, and neither are dying inside when they reunite. I don’t find The Bachelor concept of wavering between two different women until the final romantic at all. The mc's were ok, but Liv was sort of all talk and Parker felt a smidge wimpy.

Bottom Line- Not bad, but this was a bit of a dud for me. The romance suffers because the OW was around for way too long for there to be any relationship building. And there isn’t any drama to make up for the lack of romance. It really boils down to a REALLY long-drawn-out miscommunication. The ending was rushed, and it needed an epilogue. It reminded me a smidge of Elijah with the miscommunication, assumptions without asking, and GF/fiancé that hangs around.
