To Special Agent Autumn Trent, it feels like déjà vu when a four-year-old boy appears on the front steps of FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit with a package taped to his chest and a note for "Agent Parrish and his superhero team." After all, it seems like just yesterday her best friend Special Agent Winter Black was strapped in an explosive vest among a crowd of unsuspecting civilians.
But instead of a bomb, the package holds a hand-drawn map and the cling-wrapped heart of the boy’s mother. And instead of Winter’s deranged brother, they’re dealing with an equally demented madwoman who poses just as much threat to the entire Richmond team.
One by one.
Jane Doe is quietly stalking them, taking innocent lives to put each member of the team through their own worst nightmare. And she’s pulling it off right under their noses.
Who is she, and where will she strike next?
Autumn is certain the answer lies in decoding the map. But can she figure it out before more victims die? And before Jane Doe breaks them all?

A chilling suspense Another suspense book from Mary. A fast pace page turner. Stories keep getting better and better. This book keeps you interested from beginning to end. I can not wait fir the next book. They just keep getting better and better.
AUTUMN' S DECEIT is the first installment in Season Two of the Autumn Trent Series by Mary Stone and they just keep getting better. Ms. Stone continues to show her ability to write fast-paced, page turning psychological thrillers. Her world and character building are superb and guaranteed to draw you right into the story -- leaving you feeling like you are part of the action.
Jane Doe is a nobody that has dealt a living nightmare to the BAU Team. Will the Team keep it together to find the killer that’s terrorizing them? Or will they fall apart with fear for loved ones?
This new season will have you on the edge of your seat beginning to end. It's going to be an anxious wait for the next book in the series.
I can't recommend Mary Stone's writing enough, every one of her stories just gets better and better. Everything I read by this author is right at the top of be charts. I remember when Ms Stone only received 20 reviews. Now nothing can stop her.
I did receive an advance copy of Autumn's Deceit from the author and this is my honest review.
I have read all of the Winter Black and most of the Autumn Trent series. Autumn's deceit was one of the worst. It is hard to believe the entire team would not do what Aiden was telling them. Each person was in subordinate. Why were they believing everything the killer said, especially after Brie was fooled and it was obvious that the killer was separating them? Keaton putting his hands on the evidence and Autumn, the top psychologist falling for the killer's head games just didn't work for me. Autumn has been an agent and a psychologist for a minute, and yet, she is questioning Aiden's decisions in front of his team to the point that he doubted himself. Did not work for me. The author did not explain how the killer knew conversations Keaton had about his sister, or any of the other agents private thoughts. At least there was no gratuitous killing of Autumn's pets.
This was book TEN! Of Autumn Trent. I had no idea otherwise I wouldn't have read it
The book was about a woman who kills a mother and takes the woman's four year old to the FBI field office with a package strapped to his chest with a note that says 'nobody sent me'. The woman then kills several more people ripping their hearts out. The Agents are lead on a chase to find this woman and stop the torment.
If I had known or looked more closely, this is part of a long series. This IS NOT a stand alone. I was super confused throughout the book because there's references to a previous case that proves to be vital to understanding this book. Other than that though, it was well written and flowed nicely. This was a fast pace page turner. I would say it was gripping and compelling. I couldn't put it down.
Though duh storytelling was fast moving, the expectation of the negative imagery of the characters, very, Very, VERY disappointing based on the previous strengths & attributes of said characters. After ALL the insights previously given, this was insulting, especially after we are just getting to know Keaton. Are character traits truly this fickle? If so, how do we face adversities which come just living?!? This entire story was beneath & disturbing how you have previously presented (even Black's character was disparged with such weak, unbelievable character flaws). Will read the next book with hopefulness. The characters deserve much better realistic portrayal based on your previous characterization. Know this fiction, however, WOW, never saw that coming as with strong character, real or imagine, usually rise to the occasion. Keep reading hoping
Chilling. Psychological and physical torture. Jane Doe is wicked and vicious. Truly one of the more devious characters I have read in a while. Her actions and as the story evolves her reasons are horrifying and brilliant. The team cracked on this case and I can’t wait for the next book to see how or if they can heal and come back together. Autumn and Aiden are open as a couple now and the team has a new character with Keaton who we met in a previous story working with one of my favorite characters that I hope gets her own story Emma. Sun was present and snarky but kind in this book, but also had a sense of mystery that never got answered. What was done to her? What was her fear? A great read and start to Season 2 with Autumn
Mary Stone writes interesting books that are often hard to read because of what the characters go through. She puts her imperfect characters in difficult situations. This book was fast-paced. A four-year old boy is dropped off at the FBI office wearing what appears to be a bomb vest. Aiden Parrish's team has to figure out what is going on. It is a thrill ride. The ending is so difficult. The murderer basically devastates the entire team by attacking them psychologically. While she is caught, I'm not sure any of the team will ever be the same. I am anxious for the next book in the series.
This book was a bore. I usually enjoy a good serial killer yarn but this one fell flat. A plain young woman has targeted Autumn's BAU unit. She has mastered stealth and is always steps ahead. She calls them to a forest for their final showdown.
There were too many characters. The head of the unit has no problem sleeping with his charges including Autumn. Everyone knows it and to them it apparently okay. The rest of the unit Is uninteresting. They don't win in the end. Nothing like having screw ups supposedly fighting crime.
When I purchased this book, the description indicated it was #1 in the series and not #10. I was distracted from the plot because the storyline kept referring to things in the past without much explanation . I really didn't enjoy reading this, seemed a slog with all of the past references only added to confusion as to what was happening and why. I am not sure I will go back and pick up the earlier installments, I wasn't especially taken with this character, not up to par with the Ellie Kline and Charlie Cross characters.
A demented serial killer has her sites set on the remaining members of the BAU. In a truly psychological terrifying plsmn, Jane plans to destroy Autumn, Aiden, and Brew along with Kiernan, the newest member if the team. Still dealing from the hideous crimes of Jason Black and the loss of beloved team members, will Aiden be prepared to face senseless murders and threats against loved ones. And can the team flesh out a motive and Victim olive before they too are caught in Jane's murderous web?
As soon as I get a Mary Stone book I have to read it, it was so good to get back into this universe as being away for so long. The characters felt familiar, the story worked and it tied in with other books in the series. I really want to know more about one of the main characters who didnt play a significant part (being careful re spoilers) but it looks like setting up for a good story.
I was given an advance copy by the author but the review is entirely my own.
The story starts with a heartbreak and pulls you in without chance to stop. Serial killer targets BAU family members and spears their minds not only with fear, but guess also with hidden shadow of uncertainty and shame. We all hide something we think it’s not perfect yes! This fast paced thriller really scared me and the forest?!!! I will try for a long time to forget it. Lol. What’s going on next is my only guess with Mary playing with us like a cat with the mice’s. Bravo!
Such a clever villain, using all the BAU team's fears against them to literally turn the investigation on them. Jane Doe starts her murderous escapade by using a 4 year old to deliver his Mother's heart to the BAU team, unbeknownst to the little boy that his Mother is dead. The clues keep coming & fear rises in each team member to expedite the search for the killer before one of their own is killed. This was a real page turner!

Mary Stone is an Amazing Author. I am never disappointed when reading a book written by Mary. Autumn Trent now and SSA is in full FBI mode helping to solve the newest Murders. Mystery, Suspense and excitement reading as fast as I can even at times staying up all night to finish the book. I'm on the edge of my seat breathless to finish. Now I can't wait for the next book in this series.
Aiden, Autumn and the team have to figure out who "jane Doe" is and why she left them a human heart, a map, and note that said "Welcome to the nightmare" strapped to a four-year-old boy outside the HQs. As the team goes about trying to find "Jane Doe", she has the advantage of knowing them already. She is out for revenge and doesn't care who gets caught along the way--she actually likes it. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
I couldn’t wait to read the next book in the Autumn series. I love the Winter, Autumn, and Storm series. Unfortunately this one felt forced and a bit contrived. There were many sections where I skipped ahead as it was monotonous, and the end left me feeling cheated. I really wanted to love this book, but I just feel meh about it. Bring back winter and Storm. Maybe we can make up for this swing and a miss.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This excursion was very disquieting and left a bad feeling in my brain and heart.
The lack of clarity as to exactly how the perpetrator accomplished everything she did, and exactly why, seemed glossed over and incomplete, when contrasted with the after effects of the damages wrought by her machinations.
I only hope the next installment brings relief to the members of the unit.
This will definitely be my last book to read in this series. It was unbelievable to be honest. I mean come on, a young under age girl takes down several FBI agents? There was just so many things I didn't like and I really hate the dragging on of a story and also the length of time from one book to the next. It was a while for this book and it looks like a while until the next book but I won't be waiting to read the next one because this one killed it for me.
Autumn's Deceit (Autumn Trent Series Season Two Book 1)
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! This book had me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole story. It makes me believe that the human race can be the worst living being in existence. How can one human being do such atrocities to another person and be able to live themselves. But I guess that is the make-up of a sycopath, they don't feel like other people. I can't wait for the next book.
Autumn’s Deceit (Autumn Trent Series Season Two Book 1) By Mary Stone. This new season was freaking epic. This book will have you on edge till the end . Jane Doe is a specimen of her Dad Brutal Psychopath everyone I mean everyone in the team is in Danger!! I am still recovering from this story. Loved it and I recommend this new series .
Wow oh wow what a gripping read. Mary Stone you have out done yourself again with this book. An outstanding, edge of your seat, can't put down until finished page turner. Cannot wait until the next book in the series because they just keep getting better. I am an ARC member and this my honest review.
Wow, this is another work of art for Mary Stone!! I absolutely love the Autumn Trent series. When the BAU team is terrorized by Jane Doe a serial killer out to break the whole team can they keep it together to save each other and their families? Will Jane Doe break up the team and their minds with her psychotic games? Definitely a page turner
This series just keeps getting better with each thrilling episode. Autumn is my favorite of Mary’s heroines! This is another fast paced, edge of your seat, physiological page turner. The awesome plot is full of suspense and drama. If you like psychological thrillers, this series is a must read. *this was a complimentary copy and this was my honest review*
Another great read from the Autumn Trent series. These books keep getting better and keep you guessing as to the reason why. Autumn and her BAU unit are on the hunt for a woman killing other women to taunt the BAU. Why is she targeting each member of the unit with their greatest fear and what will the end result be? This is a book that is hard to put down til the end.
Once again Mary has hit it out of the park! Another fantastic read I just couldn't put down! From cover to cover it had me on the edge of my seat! I can't help but wonder how this case will affect the team in the long run, Maybe they'll be too busy to think about it. I can't wait to see what happens next!
