Accountant by day, author by night Donna Kaye has a passion for storytelling. Donna credits her love of reading to her fourth-grade teacher Mrs. Wrich. A prolific reader, her eclectic taste in reading means her bookshelves are filled with everything from sweet romance to erotica.
When not at the keyboard or reading, you can find her with loved ones on a road trip, at the movies, at a playhouse enjoying a live theater production, or at a restaurant enjoying great food with family or friends. The tales she spins are filled with love, laughter and the occasional dead body. She’d love to hear from you!
Donna Kaye brings us another great book in the Gold Aspen Series with Second Chances. Back to Spencer, Colorado and the Spencer family with the story of how second chances can be better than the first time around! Cassie took over the family security company after her husband died and found that money was being taken from the company. Trying to get the company back financially stable she accepts a job at Aspen Gold Lodge owned by Jakob Spencer a conference he was having. She brought her son, Alex. Jakob also had his grandson, Heath, an FBI agent and security specialist, come to help with the security. Cassie and Heath had a past that was about to collide with the present. Would the job be all that these two would work on? What happens when Cassie’s son is kidnapped, and Heath must help? As usual with the Spencer’s…we have many secrets that come to light. Did these secrets have anything to do with the kidnapping? Will Cassie and Heath find love again? And what about little Alex? Oh, so many excitement…. A must read that will keep you reading until the end.
Confession time! I’m deeply involved in this series. I can’t keep from seeing The End and opening the next book. That being said, this story I’ve just completed was amazing, written well and kept me totally into the story-line. With me, the second chance theme is always a win; put a child or animal into the book is excellent; and, finding love after a several years is the completion to make an HEA. I love Heath and his stalwart character and I felt the powerful independence of Cassie while she raised Alex. It’s a great book with heart that grabs at your feelings throughout the read. Thanks for taking the time to write such an excellent story.
The series gets better and better as we get to know more of the people. This book totally stands alone but it’s much more fun (in my opinion) to read them all. I’ve been waiting to read Heath and Cassies story since the first book. I won’t give spoilers, but it kept me on the edge of my seat. Donna Kaye has a wonderful writing style and gives such depths her characters. I think everyone will love Second Chances.
The hero and heroine both made tough decisions when they were young. Decisions that would later come back and haunt their safety and hearts. Older, wiser they work together to see if they can find the path to a future together. Love the honesty in the characters growth. Great book!
I enjoyed the 2nd chance romance as well as the suspenseful plot. No spoilers now, but the plot twists kept me turning the pages. Both hero and heroine are likable and intelligent. I’ll buy Kaye’s next novel for sure.

Sparks still fly between the couple, but can they be together?
I really enjoyed this book! I found the characters believable, likeable, and the situations realistic.
