Fall Guy is a stand alone, MM romance by Felice Stevens. Once again, Felice has created two men who weave themselves right into our hearts and hold on tight. These two men, abandoned by just about everyone that was supposed to support them, find each other and find that missing link they didn’t even know they were searching for.

Ronan Michaels has just been released from spending six long years in prison. He can’t wait to go home and has a certain vision of what will be waiting for him, his family and his friends there to help him to re-enter the life he’s been away from for so long. But reality turns out to be a lot different than the way he thought it would be. He is also plagued with reporters camping outside his apartment building and more than once finds himself in danger. He needs protection. He needs a body guard. Luckily, that person shows up when he needs him most, his Angel Gabriel.

Gabriel Sachs is a personal body guard. He currently is between jobs, not sure what he’s going to do next when he happens upon a man who needs help. A man with eyes that seem to look right through him. It doesn’t take long to figure out who he is and even though that should put him off, he senses there’s more to this man than he realizes and can’t help but to want to know what his secrets are.

When Ronan hires Gabriel, they are both feeling the attraction that sizzles between them. But Ronan is Gabriel’s client. It’s a bridge that he just can’t cross. But as time progresses, so does their attraction. Until neither are able to deny it any longer.

Being with Ronan and seeing what he’s going through makes Gabriel want to finally face his own past. With Ronan by his side, Gabriel finds the courage to finally take those steps to confront what he has been keeping locked away for so long.

Both Ronan and Gabriel had been so let down by just about everyone. I loved that together, they gave each other the courage and strength to face things and finally move forward. Together they formed their own family and found the love they never dreamed they could have. This was such a both heart breaking and heart warming story. The things Ronan did out of love were far above anything anyone should ever consider doing. I enjoyed this book so much and can’t wait for what Felice has in store for us next.

This book made me so mad lol
I could not get past the betrayal. The idea that "blood is thicker than water" is not something I believe so for no real justice occurring and everything being swept under the rug for the sake of family unity was BOLLOCKS! BOLLOCKS !!!

Read spoiler for angry rant (spoiler is very spoilery)

This story started out well but by the 80% mark I couldn't wait for it to be over. I did NOT like the ending, so that pretty much ruined the entire story for me.

Ronan's sister and ESPECIALLY his brother-in-law got off way too easy for the things they put him through. They used him in the worst way possible and then abandoned him when he needed them the most. It made me sick seeing the dismissive way they spoke to him after everything he'd done to protect them. That he'd still want anything to do with them made no sense to me. I understand that he wanted to be close to his nieces and nephew but he still should have gotten a proper apology from dumbass Marty.

Other than THAT, the relationship between Ronan and Gabriel was sweet and everything up until they declared their love for each other felt authentic. Everything after that felt a little rushed but still liked them together. They were exactly what the other person needed and it was nice that they were so easily accepted by the people in their lives that mattered. 2.5 stars

If you like big-hearted, sexy men, with family drama that will make your jaw drop, you're going to want to download Fall Guy immediately.

I fell for Ronan - the titular fall guy - from the first chapter. My heart broke for him over and over. A sweetheart of a man who loves and is devoted to his family to his own detriment. Seriously, I wanted to beat his brother-in-law and sister for their behavior. Ronan makes no excuses for his part in what happened and is just trying to restart his life, but the deep betrayal and hostilities he finds when he is released is a horror show he never expected. When things are hitting a new low, Ronan is saved by his angel Gabriel.

Gabriel, former cop and current personal protection provider, is having his fair share of troubles and figuring out what comes next when he sees Ronan in trouble and swoops in to help. From there on the two men forge a relationship that is sweet, loving, supportive and romantic. Gabriel is no stranger to family drama (thank goodness his mother is a wonderful, caring person) and the two men are able to give each other the strength they need to face some hard facts and difficult choices.

This is my kind of book and I couldn't wait to pick it back up when I had to put it down. There is some angst and heartache, but also plenty of lighter moments, love and romance. It's a very emotional journey for both men and I can't say I'd be as forgiving a person as Ronan, but he is quite an incredible character. Highly recommended!

It started out so well...
Ronan is the guy who will give and do everything for the people he loves. And he did. Which is why my heart broke for him in the beginning of the book. He fights to rebuild his life, only his past refuses to let him go.
Enter bodyguard Gabriel. The two men fall in love and support each other in their battle to break free of the past and move forward.
That part is excellent. But the ending? Don't get me wrong, it is definitely a proper HEA. Nothing wrong there. But there is nothing I hate more than severy lack of grovelling and forgiveness that comes to easily.
I get it - kids are involved, which makes things anything but black and white. But still. There was no grovelling happening at all and I hate that shit.

Just like any other book by this author I've read, this novel had everything I wanted: a flowing writing style that was easy to get lost into, a touching romance, and stunning characters- deep, human and flawed. I was given the chance to know Ronan and Gabriel inside and out. They became relatable, by providing them with believable dialogue that flowed really well and placing them in situations and predicaments that resonate with me.

Ronan and Gabriel weren't by any means perfect and weren't even trying to be. They've made mistakes in the past and will probably make bad choices in the future, but they were trying to do right by their friends, family, and ultimately themselves.  The author had me rooting for them from page one. Despite all the circumstances that seemed against them, I was so cheering for them to get their HEA together. Ronan and Gabriel's romance was fantastically paced, not instalove and not quite slow burn. The genuine connection between them built amazingly with the physical attraction, so soulfully written to the point where I could really feel them fall in love... while me, as a witness to their journey, fell completely in love with them.

This isn't just a romance, though. It also explores friendship and family, and finding your biggest supporters where and when you least expect them. And somehow, the author managed to construct a plot that built up in tension and conflict, while strengthening the sweet feelings between the protagonists.

I loved it! Such a moving, engaging story, and guaranteed to lighten up with happiness other little romantic hearts like mine.

Emotional romance

Ronan and Gabriel are great characters, both dealing with family issues that are affecting their lives in a major way. I loved the romance and how Gabriel’s family issues are resolved, but I was not satisfied with how Ronan’s family issues played out. I’m sorry but Marty belongs in jail!!! And Ronan’s sister is a terrible, selfish person! I don’t care if they have kids. I need bad guys to get their comeuppance! Other than that element I really enjoyed this book!

Fall Guy by Felice Sevens is an emotional gay client/bodyguard romance. This author has a way of writing characters that grab your heart and make you want to be a champion for them and this book was no different, in fact it made me feel like taking a baseball bat to a few people. Two men who have been let down and abandoned by the people closest to them find friendship and build trust while falling in love.

What I hated most about this story was that Ronan felt stupid for not only doing time for crimes he didn’t commit but also for trusting his sister, Cassie and brother in law, Martin. He was a victim and it killed me to watch him blame himself. I’ll be flat out honest; he was way too nice and too good to forgive Cassie and to tolerate Martin. I admired the way he did his community service and figured out a way to do good for the children in the hospital. It was easy to see that the attacks he suffered by people mad he was out of prison affected him deeply and I was worried he was going to end depressed and do something stupid, but instead thankfully Gabriel steps in and gives him hope.

Having left a long term assignment as a personal protection agent, Gabriel is at loose ends and bunking with his good friend. Walking home he sees a man being attacked by protesters and steps in when a bottle is broken over his head. He soon recognizes the man who was just released from prison, but he can’t help but notice how scared and affected he is by the incident. He isn’t surprised Ronan is wary of him, but when he calls and asks for his help he isn’t about to say no.

On the outside looking in Ronan and Gabriel appear to be complete opposites. Ronan is rich, a convicted felon, tatted, and scared. Gabriel is an ex-police officer turned private security, job in limbo, clean cut, confidant man. There is instant chemistry something Gabriel won’t act on after what happened at his last assignment, but the more he gets to know Ronan and sees his vulnerability and hurt, it’s only a matter of time before they cross that line. I really worried about Gabriel in this situation given he was already “on a break” from his job, but it was so easy to see their connection. As they open up to one another about their lives, it becomes evident they have more in common than they ever realized, being dismissed by the people who should love them unconditionally which only drew them closer.

I love how easily Gabriel’s mom accepted Ronan and made him part of her world almost immediately. It was clear he was still affected by his parent’s deaths and Erica seemed to understand Ronan needed a comfort only a mother could give. Watching both Ronan and Gabriel work on their relationships with their families was at times heartbreaking, but some good did come out for both men.

A serious and emotional story but with some lighter moments to balance it out, I thoroughly enjoyed Fall Guy by Felice Stevens.

I think Felice Stevens is me.
There's no way she knew about how much this story described my life and my daughter's life precisely.
At least, the part of Gabriel's life is similar with my kid's life.
Ronan and Gabriel met in a situation where Ronan needed someone desperately, and Gabriel was there for him.
Being a martyr for the sake of love for his sister, Ronan showed that unconditional love is still exist. Either he's that or he's stupid. I still can't decide about him until now.
Fall Guy is about acceptance, sacrifices and longing for family. Both Ronan and Gabriel were lonely, desperate for a nods that they're part of a family, but they're actually not.
It broke my heart how much Ronan and Gabriel gave everything just to be accepted and loved. Reading this brought me back to memory lane, and it sure was an emotional read for me. In the end, the decision was all theirs. At least, now Gabriel have Ronan.
But there's still a long way for my daughters to be that Gabriel. Or maybe, never.

Thank you for the story, Felice.
You don't know how much it means to me.

I received an ARC of Fall Guy by Felice Stevens

What would you do for your family? Ronan Michaels thought he was saving him and that was the thought that keep him going for 6yrs while he was in prison. During that time he built a life that was waiting for him once he was free. A life where his family, friends and lovers await but all shattered because that life was a lie. Ronan left prison a different man so when the reality of his sacrifice comes to light he found nothing...no family, no friends and a world that rather see him suffer for the rest of his existence.

Gabriel was no Saint but he lived his life honestly and by a code that kept his heart from further harm that was left from his childhood. Ronan became a mystery for him that he wanted to solve and the more pieces he put together the more his feelings attached themselves to the kind-hearted man.

This book bore Ronan and Gabriel's souls which connected them in a way they could not resist. The story is about family and how the worse kind of scar can be made from those who were supposed to give unconditional love. Fall Guy will have you falling for Ronan and Gabriel and the family they created together.

FALL GUY is a standalone novel that tells the story of Ronan, our Fall Guy, and Gabriel, the bodyguard. Now, you might be thinking it's the same old, boring, bodyguard story and you'd be completely wrong. Yes, Gabriel is the bodyguard, and yes, they fall in love. But, man, the stories they tell along the way will have you hooked.

I loved this story. It was apparent from the beginning that it wasn't as clear-cut as you might expect. I really felt for Ronan and do think he needed a better class of friends. After all, none of them went to see him. None of them even questioned what had happened. Sometimes, people suck!

Was Ronan stupid? I don't think so. I think he was used, his love abused, but stupid? No. His sort of familial love is one I would love to have! And as for Gabriel. He gave his reasons for the decision and I absolutely agree with him. This isn't right all the time but, trust me, when a father is that weak, it takes a lot for him to change, and not everyone can or does.

The only issue I have with her standalone books is just that - they're standalone. I need more from other characters. Isaac, I'm looking at you. Packed full of emotions, this story absolutely delivers. You get steamy moments that are pure love, no unnecessary miscommunications, second chances, and a heart of gold, it's all here. In other words, it's a typical Felice Stevens book and as such, you know I'm going to highly recommend it.

Ah, another amazing and beautiful written story by Felice. Ronan is released from a six jail term for a crime he didn't commit but he he didn't want his pregnant sister to go to jail. He gets a lot of abuse from the public so he is having to hire a bodyguard. He hires Gabriel and they have a hot chemistry from the start but trying to resist it. They both have issues but they become friends and help each work through them and they end up falling in love. This was such a well written story and I really felt all the emotions. I'm glad they got their happy ending 💜

Oh wow!

I honestly don't know where to begin with this one! This is an emotional rollercoaster of a story, and there is an excellent chance you will need tissues. Still, I must say it has one of the most beautiful endings I've read in a long time!

There is only a relatively small cast: our two MCs, Ronan and Gabriel, and a small cast of more important secondary characters. There are also a few people who just pop up here and there that add to the story, but only in a limited way. As such, the focus is very much on Ronan and Gabriel, and boy do they shine!

Both Ronan and Gabriel have sadness, betrayal, and heartbreak in their past and present lives, but I think Ronan is the more tragic of the two. He calls himself a man 'too stupid to live' because of a single choice, but honestly despite it being a stupid thing to do, it shows the strength of his character: his loyalty, his unselfishness; and the depth of his love that led him to make the ultimate sacrifice. The fact that he still desperately wants a relationship with his sister, despite her betrayals, shows his capacity to forgive and displays an almost innocence of character.

Ronan and Gabriel meet because Ronan needs help with the physical threats to his safety, but that doesn't mean he's weak. Instead, his iron core is used not for himself but for Gabriel, who is fighting and confronting his own demons.

I loved Ronan and Gabriel equally; they balanced each other: when one was weak, the other was strong, and together they were strong enough to face anything. I don't think I've read a Felice Stevens book yet where I haven't fallen madly in love with the characters. Fall Guy was no exception. Both Ronan and Gabriel had to face terrible situations, but they came out the other side as loving, good people. As such, it wasn't hard to be wholly invested in their HEA.

A small cast of secondary characters that play a relatively small part on the page, but were vital to the story, added an extra layer of emotional intensity, love, and humour. These characters really can't be discussed in any depth without giving away plot points, but suffice to say, they balance the story out beautifully and make it a rich and complete experience.

Felice Stevens' writing once again flows, and it is easy to become lost in the pages. I stayed up until 2am, reading until my eyes blurred because I just didn't want to put it down. Fall Guy is a captivatingly addictive, character-driven story that will grab you from the first page and not let go. It is an intensely emotional read, with all the romance and passion you could possibly want. It is not a heavy or overly angsty read despite its emotional nature. Angsty moments come from what has happened/does happen to Ronan and Gabriel, rather than any issues from within their relationship. There are also many instances of humour and lighter moments that stop the story from becoming a heavy read.

Yes, you may need tissues, but the ending of this story is one of the most beautiful things I’ve read in a while. So although Ronan and Gabriel are emotionally tested at every turn, they have a glorious ending waiting for them.

Highly recommend!

Another lovely romantic read from the author who is my go to when I want romance with a guaranteed happy ever after.
The opening couple of chapters set the scene of this book really well - we see Ronan released from prison and starting his new life and being treated as a social pariah, he thought he’d have the support of his sister and realises that is not going to be the case. And we meet Gabriel, who is leaving his job as a senator’s bodyguard as he’s unable to work for someone who’s cheated on his wife (amongst other questionable activities). On the face of it they appear to be total opposites when it comes to personal values and morals - the paroled, convicted felon and the ex-cop, now bodyguard.
I really struggled in the first couple of chapters with how selfish Ronan’s sister and brother in law were. After being the “fall guy” for their crimes, there was no remorse at all and Ronan was pretty much abandoned, until he was rescued one day by his “angel” Gabriel. What starts as a business relationship quickly turns into attraction and Gabriel realises there is more to the story than what is in the public domain.
The scenes with Ronan doing his community service were really touching, and I liked the people Gabriel had in his corner - his Mum and Isaac. His Dad and step mum were other characters that I had no time for at all! His Dad’s leaving the family when Gabriel was so young had a massive impact on him. Combined with a former partner who kept their relationship a secret, he has trust issues he is still trying to overcome.
I was interested to see how the story would end and was glad to see there wasn’t complete insta-forgiveness for some of the characters that really didn’t deserve it. But the way Ronan and Gabriel leaned on each other and became stronger together - and with their extended families, was a lovely epilogue.

Ronan and Gabriel are the latest two characters of Felice Stevens to win me over, and they’re the perfect example of how this author takes a trope and develops it in a way that makes it unique. It’s not just about the bodyguard and his client. It’s about love and loyalty, trust and betrayal, give and take. There’s the family you have and the family you build. Forgiveness, true forgiveness and what it means.

Gabriel and Ronan are both broken, each with their own heartaches and scars that need to heal, and while individually it’s a bumpy road for them, their journey together is not fraught with misunderstandings galore or miscommunications. Just two men getting to know each other, falling in lust and then in love, in short order.

Their road is one of healing. As they navigate the twists and turns in life together and face the truths, both beautiful and ugly, a delightful story is woven. It was so easy for me to fall in love with them as they fell in love with each other.

One of the things that blows me away about this author is that no matter how many books she writes, no two are the same. EVERY book is different. Different characters, always rich and full, with back stories that don’t leave you wondering. The plots are well-developed and fleshed out from beginning to end. She takes care with her characters, and therefore her readers. This, beyond all else, is why her books resonate with me, why I read them, read them again, and read them yet again. Her tales of love and life stay with me well beyond the moment I turn that last page. Another wonderful story that leaves me with a smile on my face and warmth in my heart.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is a really good read, and definitely makes you think about what is right, what is wrong and what justice really means.

Ronan has just been released from jail after serving 6 years for stealing from trust funds that he managed ... and people are out to get their revenge. In one incident currently out of work bodyguard Gabriel comes to his rescue.

The men get close as they spend time together, and Gabriel has to question how the man he is getting to know can have stolen from anyone. After the way his previous boyfriend treated him, he is cautious, yet cannot help but fall for Ronan.

Ronan is seriously upset by the behaviour of his sister and her husband - as was I ! See my statement above about justice ... "Marty has to pay" posters came to mind.

I do not want to say more, as it will spoil the story, but I found this a well written, clever and sweet read ...

I really enjoyed Gabriel and Ronan’s story. Their story was packed with a lot of feels and emotion. I enjoyed the ride as Ronan found his feet after being released from prison after 6 years, and Gabriel forged a new path for himself after leaving behind a long-term assignment. I loved how these two found their next steps together and I enjoyed their open communication with each other. Their relationship developed so organically and holy hotness those sexy times were fan yourself HOT! There were some sweet and tender moments too which I loved. They were so supportive of each other as they individually faced some tough challenges with family.  Especially with how those challenges made them feel and how they allowed them to affect their lives. Ronan had such a heart of gold in wanting to have a relationship with his family who continued to use Ronan as their doormat. In the end I’m glad that Gabriel and Ronan were able to get what they wanted out of their family situations, and most importantly their HEA together.

This is a beautifully heartbreaking story. The writing style flows well, making it incredibly easy to get sucked into Ronan and Gabriel’s journey. My heart ached for Ronan from the moment he’s introduced. He’s been everyone’s fall guy for too long and it’s taken everything from him. And then along comes his Guardian Angel, Gabriel. Despite not knowing the truth behind the man, Gabriel is drawn to Ronan. Their attraction is undeniable, their emotional connection is soul-deep, and their love is stronger than anything that gets thrown in their way. This author has a knack for writing deeply human and well-fleshed out characters. Ronan and Gabriel are genuinely flawed, both having made and learnt from past mistakes, and now just trying to do the best they can. I loved everything about these two!

This felt like such an intimate look into the lives of two men falling in love with each other. From their first meeting you could feel the spark of something between them. Each man is looking for what is missing in his life. What they find together helps heal the wounds from their past.

I love how Felice Stevens writes characters that emotionally resonate with the readers. Ronan and Gabriel will find their way into your heart and take up a permanent residence there.

Seeing these guys deal with some pretty big losses and betrayals yet still be able and willing to open their hearts up to each other is beautiful. The support and understanding they show each other is amazing. They refuse to let their past pain define who they are.
Another 5 star read from Felice! I'm never disappointed when I read one of her stories.

A really great bodyguard/client romance where the client isn't your usual one. Ronan gets out of prison, where he's spent six years dreaming of what life will be like when he gets out. When he does, however, he discovers that no one is waiting for him, no one he thought would be there for him cares. When he needs protection, he hires Gabriel. What follows is a story of two men who are like jigsaw puzzles both inside themselves and to each other help each other put the pieces together and lock them in place. I really enjoyed discovering their secrets and watching them discover each other's secrets as well. Nice suspense story and even better character one.

I loved the concept of this book but my heart absolutely broke for Roman from the beginning and I was angry throughout on his behalf. Gabriel was the perfect match for him and was constantly there to give him what he needed and the way they both supported each other was lovely. They both had heartbreaking stories but worked through their issues with the help and love of their partner and it was great to see their families expanding with the important people in both their lives by the end and even better to read their HEA.

Great new book by Felice Stevens. Ronan and Gabriel have been let down by members of their families. Ronan is a convicted felon that made the ultimate sacrifice for his sister and he needs protection, even though he's done his time. He's trying to right the wrong that he's done but no matter what he does it seems like it is not enough. Gabriel is a bodyguard and he needs a job after the last one. He also finds out why his father never wanted him in his life and it takes a toll on him. The book is romantic, some angst, some intense moments, and these two have great chemistry together.

From the first ten pages until the final page, Fall Guy grabbed my attention. Ronan Michaels is being released from jail for white collar crimes while Gabriel Sachs is leaving his bodyguard detail because of his honor. Betrayal, finding love and redemption to the soul unties Roanan and Gabriel.

The lies we tell to protect those we love. The lies told to us by those we loved and trusted.
The journey for Ronan and Gabriel to love is so honest, it just held me until the end.
I fell in love with these characters. Just loved them and hated to see this book end.

I recommend this book and when you read it, expect to not be able to put it down

The story was perfectly named. Ronan is in need of a bodyguard when he is attacked leaving his apartment. Gabriel just happened to witness the attack and helps him. Both men have been hurt in the past. I loved how both Gabriel and Ronan protected and had each others backs. I adored both men so much!! The story is sooo full of emotions, it felt realistic, raw and gripping!! Overall, this was a really fantastic story! It’s really well written, the pacing and flow will catch you and not let you go!! Highly recommend. I’m voluntarily reviewing from an advanced copy that I received. My reviews are solely based on my thoughts and opinions.

Wow , talk about family loyalty. Ronan taking the fall for his sister and brother-in-law, spending 6 years in prison. He was too young to realise the implications of the act. When he came out after an attack on him Gabriel came over to help him. In between jobs Gabriel started working for Ronan as his body guard.
Couldn't put it down , a rollercoaster of emotions from both Gabriel and Ronan. Both keeping their guards up until emotion too over
Brilliant story with a happy ending
