I was reading this and all I could think was:
"This is like a bad movie with bad dialogues."
But at the same time, I was laughing, because it's too crazy.
So, if you're looking for a quick ridiculous reading, this one is for you.
You won't be disappointed.

UPDATE: Just finished Kane's My Husband, My Stalker and it's written quite differently than this book. Sex scenes has no strange words/phrases like in this one. And overall writing is different as if this book was written by someone else. Is “Jessa Kane” a pseudonym for a dual writing team like “Alexa Riley”?

PLOT: **SPOILERS**
21yo curvy virgin truck-stop waitress h is enamored with a new customer, early-30s truck driver H who came on strongly to her the night before. He's back the next day and she lets him do more than kiss her until he mentions seeing her photo. She starts resisting him but he orders her into his truck, where he tells her about being ordered to sex-traffic her to Canada. He insists that he'll do his utmost to protect her from his boss & others involved. They smex and then the villains appear. She does what he instructs her & drives off with his semi-truck to a safe place while waiting for his phone call. Three months later, he still has not contacted her & she decided to move on and is now in art school & preparing for their baby. Two villains try to kidnap her but H rescues her. He tells her about his torture & imprisonment and escape & revenge kills. Then they smex, despite her fear of seeing him so out of control. He leaves her for 2 months without telling her, wanting to prove his worth since she looked scared to see him murder others. They reunite again, with H showing her the house he bought them & the comic-book store he bought her. Marriage & more potential kids 5 years later.
The GOOD:
It's a smutty novella. Liked H's OTT alpha-dominant possessive-protectiveness over h & his obsession with her. Loved how he stalked her during the 2 months he went away to prove his worth to her. His change from casual manwhore to single-minded focus on h was believable. He went through beatings/torture, imprisonment, hunger, unemployment, and killing to keep h safe & to reunite with her. I believed in his love for her. Her love for him was easy since he did most of the work in their romance. Liked the insta-lust/love between these 2, despite the lack of believability. Sex scenes were hot, despite some weird phrases. Liked the epilogue 5 years later with both H&h married with a son.
MEH or the BAD:
Meh overall feel although had a couple funny moments. Ok romance despite H's OTT possessive-jealous protectiveness over h. Lacked overall believability to justify why: #1. smuggler trucker early-30s H suddenly became so obsessed with h just from seeing her picture on his sex-trafficker boss' computer screen and #2. H becoming this rampaging killer of those involved in the business, when he was just a regular smuggling trucker for many years who followed what his mentor-boss told him to do. Romance was more lust-based than from deep emotion.
Ok characters but not enough character info and history to get a full grasp of their characters. For example, why & how did H become a smuggling trucker? How did he learn to kill the way he did & hide the bodies without showing his DNA? How he was able to afford to buy a house & setup a comic-book store for h during the 2 months he left her & he no longer had a truck driving job? And how was he able to get h's comic book published? With h, how & why did chatty social-butterfly 21yo h remain a virgin and a loner with no apparent friends or family? Why did she work at a remote truck stop instead of another job? How did she learn to drive a semi-truck? How did she suddenly afford to go to art school plus a new apartment when she left her waitressing job without notice when she ran away from the villains? These lack of details affected their lack of romance development & character growth. Despite their reunion 3- and 5- months later, after they got separated twice.
Didn't like H's passivity in enabling the weapons-smuggling & sex-trafficking his boss & other employees were now doing. He only cared & did something about it because he was interested in h. h's attraction to H was lust-based & she was quick to change her mind about whether H was dangerous and if she should be with him when he'd touch her sexually. I don't mind this sudden change if it's due to some deep emotional reason instead of just lusting after H's body. Average S tension. Detailed bareback S scenes but but some strange phrasings (I.,e., “I’m aching for a replay, my balls drawing up tight to my undercarriage.”, “wedging my cock good and tight to her heat”, “getting railed like I paid for it”) made for awkward pacing & emotionally pulled me out of the sex scenes.

Would’ve been higher if it wasn’t for the tickling
Ah. Jessa Kane. I have such a weakness for her writing. But why, of all the things to include in this book, did she include tickling? I’m not kink-shaming (because, in this book, it’s definitely a kink), but I, personally, could not stand being tickled😅 (unless I want to pee myself) especially as a way of getting turned on 🙈.
Tatum (21) works at a truckstop diner and is used to having a lot of people come in and out. Although she can be awkward, she always makes sure that she has good conversations with the various people that come into the diner. In fact, her boss always tells her that she talks too much, which is good when people wanna eat and just relax for a little bit before going to drive for hours and hours as a trucker. And then a handsome, fit man walks in.
Hoss/Daniel (31 ish) was sent to kidnap Tatum and sell her off in a trafficking ring. But when he first saw her picture, he knew that he couldn’t do that to her, so he’s really here to rescue her/prevent the other men from doing it. As soon as he sees and talks to her, he falls in love and knows that he’ll do whatever it takes to protect her.
This was different from her usual stories. First off, it’s on the dark side. I have yet to read one of her books that gets this dark. We actually see bloodshed. Also, it has two separations. But then we get her usually j/p and protective H, and Daniel totally is OTT at this. I mean, he will do anything for Tatum. ANYTHING 👀💅.
One thing’s for sure though, we still get the normal dirty🔥 talk and smexxy times🥵. This one also has her getting her sexy on while she’s pregnant😉, which was different. The dirty mouth of Hoss/Daniel 👏🏻👀. There’s also daddy talk and even DD/lg.
I wish it was longer ugh. I have so many questions and I wanted a lot more details, especially after the separations. Le sigh. Oh well.

Hoss has a job to kidnap Tatum and traffic her that’s what his boss wants him to do. But when he first saw her picture he was head over heels no one is going to take her away. So him and Tatum convos were funny and silly she was thinking dirty thoughts there first time meeting. There was some do I trust this guy. Which I love. It went from 0 to 100 when the drama came. That had them separated for fee months.

True JK style, this so OTT and by the time I hit the 2nd chapter I couldn't help but laugh, I soo didn't expect that direction but OF course it is....why not!! This is Jessa Kane we are talking about and she is the Queen of OTT.

I want more stories like this, complete stories that progress over a year or more.
When Hoss rolls into town you initially think he’s your typical trucker, someone looking for a quick meal and a quick fuck. But he’s much more. He goes out of his way to watch Tatum. She’s becomes almost an obsession mixed with a new project. He cannot stand her job and wants to take her away.
Then we learn his hidden agenda and oh my is it nefarious. Thankfully his conscience wins and he end up fighting his mission and making life safe for Tatum. It was cute to see the lengths he went to to ensure she was safe and he had a way to take care of her. It was even cuter to see how she reacted to his gifts and wasn’t upset with his mildly stalker behaviors.
This one is definitely worth a reread.

The tickling and giggling weren’t for me. She describes herself, at one point, as sounding like a “deranged toddler”. 😬😬 … not super sexy to me. 👀
Bottom Line? Overall it was ok. Not super memorable but not a DNF. There’s a lot of logic issues, but let’s face it, that not why we’re reading JK 😉

Mmm I wasn't really too captivated by this.
I read some review from a GR friend that said sometimes it feels like Jessa Kane's novellas are written by various people because of how different they turn out to be from one another and I'll have to 100% agree. I'm not talking about the plots, obviously this author is very creative and always comes up with new (sometimes even a little weird) stories to tell and that's a very positive trait. I'm referring to the writing style: when starting a new novella you never know if it's going to be the absolute best or absolute worst lol.
This was just okay. My biggest critique: some of the used vocabulary, for example during sexu@l scenes, is really strange and takes away from the scene so much because a little cringey.

I loved this! Yeah it was cheesy, but in a good way. Yeah it was a Daddy book, which I usually shy away from with this author, but it was very well done here.

In her recent books Jessa Kane takes her heroes quite a lot to the dark side.
This is the story of a girl working in a diner at the interstate, catering to truck drivers. And the man sent by his boss to kidnap her for his new trafficking business.. But the man is instantly attracted to her, in the very romantic way and does everything, and I mean everything, to protect her.
As with all Jessa Kane's books she writes them so masterfully they never get to the other side, always keeping her characters in the *desperately in love* zone but always in a sort of balance.
Still, there is a lot of darkness to this book. Which I didn't particularily like but it's always interesting to read in what part of this big world will Jessa Kane set her new insta love, daddy vibes, can't leave without each other romance.
