When an ancient vampire arrives in Los Angeles, and finds a young shapeshifter in need of his help, Flavius Metellus and Heaven Bliss are both drawn into the deadly games of intrigue that make up the court politics of the Vampire Great Houses. Together they must fight against the hostile supernatural elements hunting them if they want to survive. With vampire politics, there is only one certainty. They always end in blood.
R. Lee Moore is a veteran of the United States Army currently living in Southern California who is rarely seen without a big cup of coffee in his hand. When he isn't writing and drinking far to much coffee for a human being to safely consume, he spends his time trying to convince his three cats that he's the one that's actually in charge. Nightwalker, the first book of the City of Angels series is his debut novel.

3.5 stars. The premise of this book is enticing, and its world intriguing (vampires and shapeshifters living somewhat along with humans). The beginning of the story is a little slow, but it allows characters’ development and some background’s descriptions without being an info dump. I liked Flavius, the vampire MC, but an important detail to understand his behavior was missing. Even at the end, the question remained unanswered. However, in my opinion, it was an important one. I believe there is a sequel, and I am sure the author answers it there, but i felt that I needed to know more about Flavius at the end of this first book. The fighting scenes are well done, and the stakes are high, which made me care about the MCs. Nevertheless, while the author’s style was engaging, sometimes it wasn’t a smooth read because of repetitions or typos. Maybe the work needs a last round of editing/proofreading? Overall, I liked the story. It kept me intrigued enough to finish it, and I will add the sequel to my TBR list.
Flavius was a vampire traveling to the City of Angels. Flavius, who had never been good at socializing with other vampires, despised the politics of the Great House and hoped to avoid it all.
“Still, being able to see firsthand how a hundred-fifty year old treaty with humanity had shaped vampire society in the United States was of interest to him.” (2)
“Everywhere else, in spite of whatever power they may have, supernatural beings were often exterminated on discovery. The New World was the only place where vampires, and other supernatural creatures lived openly with their human counterparts.” (2)
Writing was rich and dark, although the dialogue was a bit antiquated. To me, it just seemed like there was more dialogue than action. I was kind of waiting for something to happen. The mingling of these night creatures sounded interesting at first, but the story was just too stagnant for my liking. Perhaps I expected more battle and less debate. I mean, these are vampires, right?
This book definitely had a sophisticated palate with an air of majesty, but I have to say that this was pretty dull for me.
Nightwalker by R. Lee Moore is a wonderful story that I have read and fell in love with. This is book number one in this wonderful start to a brand new series writen by a brand new author that I loved reading casue it has vampires in it. I highly recommend this story to everyone who love reading about vampiers and paranormals in thier stories.

This was my first book I was brave enough to even try to get published. It's a story, and a setting I've been working on for absolute years. Which means I know the overall story and the characters involved intimately enough to make it really easy to write down. I hope at least a few people get as much enjoyment reading it, as i did writing it.
I finished this in just under 24 hours. I got caught up with all the characters. And the ending has me waiting impatiently for the next book to come out. I want to know more about Flavius and about the shifters in general.
Nightwalker is a fun read, and an enjoyable addition to vampire fiction. I'm excited to continue reading the series, and I'm glad that I finally found the time to read this!
