A good book. Good story and great artwork. As I am not completely familiar with Spawn, this was a very good jump on point.

Someone is trying to get Al Simmons attention, and they are using both children and Al's past and future against him. This book is sort of coming full circle book, having Summons/Spawns past it what made this a great jumping point. Will Spawn become the King or remain a pawn, or is he both?

Love the artwork and tha back up stories are good as well, one leads straight into another Soawn entering the fray. The battle is really heating up. I am enjoying the journey.

A actually really enjoyable series so far.

Spawn has to deal with a bunch of dead children at his feet after an explosion at a school. Keep in mind this might be tough to read due to recent events happening in the United States with little kids getting brutally gunned down by psychos. But if you can stomach this, Spawn is truly pissed but this time he works with his band of spawn people and friends to hunt down who's doing this.

Having Sean Lewis as the writer, a writer I've never loved his older work, actually works well. A fresh voice for Spawn, a solid plot, nice twist and turns, and it helps the art is great with some brutal as fuck kills. I overall really enjoyed this quick paced, screwed up, and mysterious start to a new Spawn series.

Why is there never any mention of Spawn when people wonder where the endearing African American superheroes are? The character has had over 300 ongoing issues.... It's been awhile since I've read him but this series made me jump back in. Like most popular characters there are a bunch of ripoffs now including She-Spawn and Medival Spawn.... The worst being Gunslinger Spawn(it's the ridiculous hat). But main Spawn is being pushed into the King of Hell position by a group of zealots no matter how many people have to die to get him there. Red is still his power color and there is plenty here .... I didn't find the writing annoying at all. I'll read the next volume.

This wasn't bad, but it really was just like reading the original Spawn series. I liked the art, and the story isn't bad, but I think I'm missing what is supposed to set this apart from the main Spawn title. Also, does no one stay dead in comics? I realize the answer is no, as it seems like every character returns from the dead whether it's Marvel, DC, or any other company, but Spawn seems to be especially guilty of this. Considering the theme of Spawn, I guess it only makes sense people keep coming back, but for some reason in this book it just felt like overkill.

Aprobado justito.

I read about half of this before I decided I was wasting my time.

It's not exactly that it's horrible, but Spawn was never the greatest comic; it just did well because of McFarlane's artwork, and that's not here any more. The current artist tries to be artistic, but often ends up muddy instead.

And the story? It's kind of OK, but it's slow as molasses and it's all so caught up in the long continuity of Spawn.

So, a fan might enjoy this, but as someone who's read the first few years of Spawn, not so much.

I picked this up for free comic book day; the cover art was intriguing. It is definitely not my thing (gore and violence to this extreme without any real foil is a struggle for me), which is why I am not rating it. It seems wrong to rate something I don’t fully understand. There does seem to be some commentary on how religion is actually showing up in the world that feels like it could be important, but it got lost for me in the jumps.

Billy Kincaid is back as a demon killing children and trying to force Spawn into becoming the King of Hell. There's a lot going on with all the other Spawns here too. You do need to be reading the regular Spawn book since issue 300 to really pick up on all of it. Fresh from DC, Javi Fernandez does a good job of picking up the art chores here.

Even for a Spawn book this collection is dark. I reminds me of The Court of Owl's storyline from Snyder and Capullo but far heavier and grittier.

Bit of a struggle to finish this.
Interesting bit about Psalm 137. though. The last verse is really quite horrible.

Je vous présente. Une œuvre de:

Todd McFarlane & Sean Lewis & Javi Fernandez & Jim Cheung
