Time will continue to move forward and bring changes to the kingdom. Whether it is beneficial or not has yet to be seen. A battle against rogue angels severed Coura's connection to the demon Soirée, and she wakes to find herself unable to wield dark magic. Events continue to worsen when she learns of a traitor committing murders in the palace, though her companions’ faith in her falters when she reveals her past. Through the recovery and return to the capital city, Coura prepares to move on until an opportunity arises to reunite with her lost power. If she accepts, she must travel across Asteom to rescue those in danger from misshapen creatures, yet the cost for such heroics is unknown.
Can Coura convince her friends she is trustworthy despite being bonded to a demon? Will they uncover the traitor manipulating those in the palace before it's too late? In the midst of their dilemma, what will happen when she seeks out the unnatural energy she once possessed?

Lillard graduated from Quincy University in 2015 with a B.A. degree in Communications and from Western Illinois University in 2018 with a M.A. in Communication Studies.
Outside of writing, Lillard is a fan of reading fantasy stories and classics. Her other hobbies include cooking, volunteering, and doing puzzles, at least until her cat knocks the pieces off the table.
"At first, I wrote for fun and nothing else because I never expected to publish the complete series. I still write for fun, but I think a lot of people get lost in the marketing process, especially if they aspire to become a full-time author. My stories are for myself first and foremost. If I can capture a reader's attention and entertain them until the last page, then I've succeeded in my duty as a writer."
Book 2 of The Dark Angel Series does not disappoint. I'm excited to see where this story leads.
Coura is left feeling like a husk; devoid of everything that makes her feel like herself. When the demon she shared a soul bond with gives her information about getting their power back, Coura takes off in pursuit.
Lillard is a magnificent story weaver and writer. I did not want to put this book down.
The third book in the Dark Angel series follows our protagonist, Coura, as she seeks to regain her dark magic and save the kingdom from a traitor within the palace.
This has been my favorite book in the series thus far! The book has Coura recovering repressed memories after become separated from the demon, Soiree, slaying demonic creatures throughout the kingdom, and strengthening the relationships with her friends.
Losing her magic abilities damages Coura in a way that she becomes a shell of the person she once was. After determining a way to regain her magic, Coura leaves the safety of the palace to eliminate the increasing amount of demonic creatures throughout the realm and absorb their demonic energies.
Along the way, out heroine meets quite a few interesting characters, including an ancient community living in the jungle treetops, a former fisherman and sailor who struggles to find work because of a past mistake, and a woman with a heart of gold and a hidden secret. Of course we see the return of our favorite lively bunch to include Will, Marcus, Byron, Aaron, and Grace to assist Coura in her mission.
To make matters more complicated, murders are occuring in the palace, unsettling the kingdom and threatening the stability and peace of the area.
I appreciate the strong main character of Coura and the ability to read her internal thoughts. The concept of being connected to a demon is interesting and there is a shocking bit of information that comes out towards the end of this novel. The action had me fully engaged in the book and I enjoyed all of the quirky characters.
