Pout Party

Rate this book
A story that playfully portrays how difficult it can be to put your best foot forward when you’ve woken up on the wrong side of the bed.

Poor Rue wakes up on the wrong side of the bed. Nothing makes her happy. Even her socks aren't cooperating. When she gets to school all her friends want to play, but she's not in the mood. Instead, she invites everyone to join her in a pout party. "Absolutely no smiles are allowed!" Unfortunately, everyone thinks Rue's party sound fun and they all come to show off their biggest pouts. In no time at all, everyone is laughing, but will Rue find the humor when all she wants to do is grumble?

Illustrated in beautiful, bright pastels, Pout Party is a sweet, funny story for every kid who has ever felt out of sorts and needs a smile.

I simply adore the message of this beautifully illustrated book: it's okay to be in a pouty/grumpy mood sometimes! It's okay to express that and to let your feelings out! In fact, you can even start to feel better if you're able to express yourself in a healthy way. It's such a wonderful way to help teach kids about different emotions and how to express themselves. The illustrations are also just so much fun - there's a particular poodle-character whose face I am simply obsessed with!

Made for storytime.

Rue is incredibly grumpy. Nothing shakes her bad mood until she invites all her classmates to join her in a pout party. No fun, just pouts. And they all join in, making grumpy faces and being ridiculously pouty. Until one giggle breaks up the party.

A celebration of more than just pouting, also the power of friendship and of expressing one's feelings.
