I ran into a single dad from hell… and then I made the mistake of accepting his job offer.
Turns out, hell had some scandalous plans for me.
Plan #1: Move into Hunter’s house as his live-in nanny. Plan #2: Fall into Hunter’s bed. Plan #3: Get pregnant with his baby and regret plans #1 and #2.
Living with a snob like Hunter wasn’t easy. But his daughter brought us closer. The problem, though?
It’s not just us three in the house. Hunter invited his ex to live in his guest bedroom so she could recover from an illness.
My frustration was through the roof. So, imagine my shock when I realized that I was expecting my snobby boss’s baby. Especially when I felt like he hadn’t even given me his heart.
That resolution was way to quick. The OW/Ex was actually a good person which was a nice change of pace. I could see her and the h becoming friends but there was zero grovel. The h didn't even make him explain how he alienated her for weeks to be at the OW beck and call. Not just the h either but his daughter. I felt she should of expected more from him then I don't wanna be with the OW, i love you🤦♀️ plus the H felt like zero remorse or guilt he didn't have the faintest clue that he was hurting the h...the dumba$$🤦♀️
This book was absolutely wonderful! The love story in it was really sweet I think because it started with the friendship between Jane and Autumn, Hunter's small daughter. I loved being in their world. It actually would have been a great tv show or movie. You will not regret reading this book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book is absolutely amazing, wonderful characters, great story line, steamy and a page turner. I just couldn't put it down till I finished and I recommend it. A job well done by the author 👏 👍 👌. I received an ARC for my honest voluntary review.
Was a good read! The one thing I did wish was added was the reaction to the costume that Jane made. I also am just not the biggest fan of the miscommunication trope so maybe that’s why it isn’t a higher rating for me.
Misunderstood is the first book in the Forbidden Love Series. A full-length standalone novel with no cheating or cliffhanger and complete with a happily-ever-after. It's exquisitely written story world building characters and a fascinating storyline that captures the reader attention from the first and keeps you hooked and riveted and turning the pages until the end. This is Hunter and Jane's story. A fast paced, quick novella read that is addicting and deliciously unputdownable. Hunter McMillan is a handsome successful billionaire tycoon and CEO who works on Wall Street stock market. He's very handsome GQ like who should be on the cover of a magazine. A brilliant, hard-working, caring, ruthless businessman and single father to a beautiful four year little girl name Autumn who has him wrapped around her fingers and keeps him flustered and out of element. Autumn is a little who's over stimulated from sun up until sun down seven days a week with no time to be a kid. Her schedule ranges from French lessons, swimming, horse back riding, dance class and so on. She's also not given the proper food with no veggies, milk etc. She eats a candy bar for breakfast or whatever she wants. She's constantly going through nannies with some only lasting no more than two days for not being able to keep with her schedule and daily temper tantrums. She ran away from one after her dance class and end up in Central Park where she ran into a nice stranger Jane Hill who is a beautiful dark hair grad student with an eclectic and unique taste with styles for 1950's; who is studying to get into a remote learning program in France studying costume design. She is a book nerd of the fifties and always design and sew her own clothing all the way down to her underwear from pictures that she sees in her books from the renaissance Era. At times she would model the clothing that she makes to a feel for them. She's curvy young woman who often hides her body under heavy loose clothing and covers her head under big hats with strings to protect her face from sunburns. She was deeply engrossed in a picture that she was going to replicate and snapping a picture of the page when a shadow came over the book of a little girl who whispered in her ear telling her that the picture was ugly. She immediately started to look around for a lost parent or a nanny, because she knew that somewhere a stay-at-home wife or mom was worried about the child. As they continued to talk she asked her name and tells her yours, then she asked her why she she did not like the picture which Autumn respond that it was because it was in black and white and she preferred the one that on the next page that was in colors. After Autumn had ran away from the nanny Hunter and immediately call the police and dropped everything that he was doing to go and find his daughter. Jane had taken two pictures of Autumn and called the police to report a missing child in the park and gave them a description of what she was wearing as well as Autumn and where she was located. As she waits she continues to keep Autumn engaged and talking. When Hunter shows up he was frantic and happy to see that his daughter was okay. But the cops would not release her into his care until they verify his identity as well as asked Autumn who he was. After all the commotion ended he finally looked at the situation in front of him and noticed how good Jane was with his daughter and as managed to have her well behaved and engaged. He introduced himself and asked Jane about herself then gave her his business card and offers her a job as a nanny. She told him that she has never been a nanny before plus she's also studying to get in school. He told her to think about it and if she ever changed her mind that she could call him, meanwhile when he gets home to the nanny she told him off and quit and about his daughter and his mistress in his bed, which left him dumbfounded that he couldn't respond because he's so busy working that he doesn't have time for a woman much less think about one. He went back to the nanny agency that he deals with to get another nanny, but agency owner thought that he had slept with the nanny and that was reason why she quit. He was so upset with the situation regarding his plus he needs to get some work done because of a big deal that he had going. He was happy when he got the call from Jane that she changed her mind and offered her the position plus boarding. Hunter was very attracted to Jane when he truly got a look at her pretty face and her body in her jump suit. She had a male friend helped her move in and Hunter was immediately jealous because he that that Joel was her boyfriend so he started laying down all types of rules for her that she shouldn't do. When Jane went into Hunter's office to discussed Autumn schedule, she burst out in laughter and tells him off about all the unnecessary things that he has Autumn doing as well as the unhealthy eating habits. He was upset and told her that those where his rules to which she implied that she quit and that it was a bad idea she made a mistake accepting the job. He panic and started begging her because he knew that she was his last hope after he told the lady off at the agency because he was sure that he had a nanny. She offered to stay on temporary until he finds a replacement, but let him know that she won't be given her any unhealthy food. After a week of going through Autumn's rigorous schedule she finally realize why she's always throwing temper tantrums. It's because she's tired and doesn't get any naps or does children stuff, so she decided to cut back on some of the things that she does and told him to keep his money and stop wasting it. Hunter over compensate when it comes to his daughter. The thing was he didn't know that she existed until a couple years ago when her mother dropped her off at his door step and left. He thought that by overloading her with activities that she will get tired in the evenings but instead it did the opposite. Hunter doesn't really know his little girl because he doesn't have any time because of his hectic schedule. The more time that Hunter, Jane and Autumn spend together it feels like they're a family and he saw so many changes in his daughter's behavior since Jane started working for him plus Autumn loves her and wants her to be her mother since she doesn't have one. Each day Jane and Hunter's attraction grew until they succumb to their attraction and he can truly see them as a family and wanted to try with her. But one phone from the hospital from the doctor stating that his ex-wife had listed him as an emergency contact and that she was injured and needed someone to help care for her until she was unable. Hunter's ex-wife Selena had lost her new husband in the accident and she didn't have anyone else to care for her. He felt bad and offered her his guest bedroom while she recuperate. However, things changed in he and Jane dynamics and he wasn't communicating with her anymore and closed himself off from her weeks. This also messes with her dynamics with little Autumn. It even got worse when she found out that she was carrying his child. Hunter is so clueless about everything except business. He couldn't see that he was hurting poor Jane all because he wanted to be hoble, all in all it was a good read and life lessons as it pertains to children and their behaviors. A workplace relationship, forbidden love, billionaire romance, taboo, employee-boss relationship, nanny trope romance, opposite attracts story, single dad romance, steamy contemporary romance, secret baby story, unexpected pregnancy, filled with secrets, lies, deception, lust, age gap trope romance, passion, emotions, tension, resentment, anger, angst, revelations, acceptance, drama, forgiveness, romantic suspense, mystery, grumpy sunshine, melt-your-heart moments, close proximity, super-hot-scenes, she's got secrets, surprises, desire, miscommunication and love.

The storyline has a cute start. However I felt that the H and h hooked up too quickly. The daughter Autumn started off as spoiled but was just really over taxed. Jane did a good job sticking up for the daughter and was able to settle her down. I liked how Jane really got into her studies and incorporated this into Autumn's study.
Hunters character was never really developed except that her wanted to control all aspects of lives and didn't communicate well.
His ex was a weird addition but she seemed fun and enjoyed both Autumn and Jane. Didn't understand why Hunter and the ex broke up until way later.
The author also introduced Steve the IT guy. I liked him for the short time he was there. I could see him trying to date the exe.
Jane meets a little girl in the park and bonds with her. Her father, Hunter, offers her a nanny position. Due to school and roommate circumstances, Jane does take the position. There is a little drama with Hunter's ex, who he moves in with them due to an accident she was in. Selena was too nice for there to be any sort of real angst, although Jane thought there was a relationship between Hunter and Selena. I would have like more drama and angst, but I am a drama queen lover, LOL. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the story and fell in love with little Autumn. I'm looking forward to going back and reading the other two previous books.

Misunderstood by Kelly Myers reminds me of the 1980's Harlequin novels. Not alot of emotion or feelings expressed before they unexpectedly get horizontal. Not horrible but you dont really get any sense of their emotional attraction.
Hunter McMillan is without a doubt handsome. But the dark-haired, gorgeous millionaire Wall Street genius who looks like a GQ advertisement in real-time has woman troubles at home—not a controlling wife—not a not a demanding lover. Rather the woman who pulls his strings is an over-managed 4-year-old who runs through nannies like most 4-year-olds run through an un-regulated bag of snacks. So, when he is notified by the police that his 4-year-old precious daughter, Autumn, has slipped away from her handler and has been found by a stranger in Central Park, he drops everything to go to his child.
Jane Hill is a lush, dark-haired, gorgeous graduate student in hopes of beginning a remote-learning study of costume design with the Sorbonne. And, she often becomes her own model or mannequin, often appearing like a lush, beautiful 1950’s Hollywood starlet. But Jane is no “dumb bunny.” She is not only “book smart,” but it quickly becomes apparent that she is a “child whisperer,” or at least she seems to be able to “read” the over-scheduled, petulant child, understanding Autumn’s needs.
So, the Wall St. wizard, is clueless dad when it comes to his own sweet girl, Autumn. But when he meets the woman who has the ability not only to “find” the child that he didn’t know was lost, but also to understand her needs, he acts with the same insightful acumen which made him a millionaire. He offers Jane a job as live-in nanny. And for the young impoverished graduate student who already is looking for new lodgings, the offer of a paying job that will fit into her school schedule and also provides housing, is perfect.
But life gets complicated when sparks of attraction begin to fly between the nanny and the dad. And, it gets even more complicated when Hunter’s ex—Selena—is badly injured in a car accident that takes the life of her new husband, Trevor. Desiring to refashion his image as a sensitive and caring family man, Hunter feels compelled to offer her a bedroom in his penthouse in which to recover. But with the arrival of the injured ex, the dynamics of the little family of Hunter, Autumn and nanny Jane is disturbed, possibly irrevocably.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review, but I enjoyed reading it so much that I acquired a copy through Kindle and am anticipating continued related tales to be forthcoming in the series.
I’m not sure how to start with this one so I’ll just say the first thing on my mind. I didn’t know this was going to be another nanny story. After the last one I had hoped that would be it for at least the next few books I read. To my surprise, this wound up being one. I didn’t want to read another nanny story because in my mind I was thinking it would be too similar to the last book. It wasn’t but I wasn’t ready for another, which is why this gets closer to a 4.5 for me. I liked Hunter way more than the last guy. Hunter at least was open to finding love and didn’t want to push Jane away like the last guy in my last book did. Hunter fell for Jane pretty quickly and didn’t try to hide his feelings and thoughts about it. He welcomed it and he was more friendly and nicer towards her and the staff. He was a happier man and it was refreshing to read after that last book. In terms of his daughter, she didn’t have good behavior either but at least she didn’t seem spoiled. However, I felt like she relied too much on Jane and it would have been nicer to have her be more independent. She would have been a totally different kid and it would have been a different story. Going back to Hunter and Jane though, I get why the book is called “Misunderstood” and it was not what I initially expected. Jane and Hunter had a great relationship, no drama and it seemed to flow better with the nanny job compared to others. They didn’t deny their relationship but they didn’t try to hide it too much either. The point of why the story is called what it is because Jane is led to believe something that isn’t true and assumes something that isn’t. She reads too much into things that happen which ultimately pushes her away from Hunter, not knowing he is madly in love with her and only wants her. The emotion and love I feel for her in Hunter’s eyes was palatable. I got more of that from him than Jane which isn’t too common with the men in my books. All in all it was more of a love and lost but find each other again type of story which seems to be the theme in most of the books I’ve read so far in this series. I’m approaching the second to last book and I’m excited to see what it’s about, hopefully a break from the nanny story.
This is a story that’s part of the Forbidden Love Series. I found you could read this as a stand-alone. We have Jane a young woman whose in college and having a hard time making it work for her so she takes a nannying gig for Hunter a wealthy single dad of a precious little girl, Autumn who falls head over heels in love with Jane. Hunter is surprised as no one else has been able to help Autumn become anything g other than a storm that runs his house. Jane is not your typical nanny and stands up for Autumn and herself and ends up showing Hunter that what he expects out of Autumn is not necessary good for her. These two clash often but also have an undeniable attraction that Hunter is finding difficultly to stop him going after Jane. After Jane and Hunter spend some very happy nights together Jane is feeling good about them being together until Hunter decides to bring his ex to live with them while she recovers from an accident that she lost her husband. The ex and Jane end up becoming friends especially after the ex finds out she is pregnant and all that involves. Jane becomes unhappy and then there are misunderstandings forcing Jane to leaving without notice breaking both Autumn and Hunter’s hearts. The ex also gives Hunter an ear full about letting love go and how he needs to get her back! This is a beautiful story where family is more than dad and daughter! Jane is outside enjoying her day studying when a little girl stops her from turning a page in her book. Surprised Jane looks up and finds herself looking into a little girl's face. Autumn had walked away from her father and when she saw what Jane was looking at, she stopped to look at the book with her. Jane notifies the cops via text on her phone as she entertains Autumn. Hunter shows up frantic because Autumn is his daughter, and she took off when he was buying her something. When Hunter sees how Jane is with his daughter, he offers her a nanny position. Jane isn't interested at first but when things go crazy over night for her Jane calls to accept the job. Sparks fly between them as they discuss how to take care of Autumn. Its not long before they give into temptation and sleep together. Things start to get even more complicated when one of Hunter's exes moved in when she was injured in an accident. Will Hunter admit that he wants Jane for more than just his daughter's nanny?
This is a great story that will draw you in from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

In this book we meet Jane Hill & Hunter McMillian. When this book opens we find Jane sitting in a park reading a library book about period costumes. When she goes to turn the page she finds a little girl next to her telling her she liked the picture on the page before it. Little does Jane know this little girl has left the security of her father. Hunter has tried everything to balance life with a little girl and owning his own business. It doesn't help that her mother is not in the picture. So when she finds her sitting quietly next to Jane he offers her a nanny job. All he wants is what is best for his daughter and if he can get a chance with this woman as well he is not apposed to that. Can these two find a HEA or are they just in two different worlds?
Another amazing hit by this author. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
Good however I wish there more information on autumns mom since the housekeeper said she wasn’t there with Hunter since he moved in five years ago he got her recently so I would love to know more to that tbh but it was a good story but this definitely gave me the feeling of a generic story where kid find women and single dad ask her to be a nanny and he ends up being rich and she has his baby and they feel in love within the last to chapters it basically felt like I read this. However I would recommend this because it was a cute story and I did like the first one they both definitely fit in a generic story of contemporary romance vibe and I got to say I wait to read this series for a while and I don’t know why but do I regret that decision maybe but honestly I like that I started reading this and I will definitely read more in this series I have three more to go.
Jane needs a job. While Jane is studying outside a little girl stops her from turning the page so that she could look at the picture in the book. Autumn had taken off from her father and when she saw what Jane was looking at she stops to check it out. Hunter needs a nanny for his daughter Autumn and hires Jane on the spot. While living in the house with Hunter and Autumn an ex moves in the guest bedroom to recover from an illness. What a mess that caused. A great storyline with hot chemistry between Jane and Hunter. Their relationship was fraught with plenty of misunderstandings from the ex being in the same house, with plenty of twists to add to the confusion.

Hunter is a boss from hell. There are standards, and rules for, Jane to fulfill, in the beginning. They are enacted, to make him look good, in public since she and Autumn, will be representing him. Which seems crazy. Hunter gives the rules out, to each new caretaker for her to be, Autumn’s nanny. This was a clue, to a puzzle.
But, one day cures, Jane of that. She begins slow and easily, beating him over the head with easier ways to get, Autumn to stop all, the outburst. Their banter and Autumn’s interaction is what makes this book. Add Selena and wow, oh baby, baby, do you have a wildfire going.
I do have to say there are some slow spots. Al least for me. It was nice to see the guy have work to find his girl once he messes up.
Hunter can't seem to keep a nanny. When his daughter gets ahead of him, she finds herself with Jane sitting looking in her book when her father finally catches up with them. One look at Jane and her connection with his daughter has him thinking maybe she should become the next nanny. When Jane's living arrangements have her almost homeless, she takes Hunter up on his offer and it will start them along their journey of finding happiness. Their relationship will come with several twists and turns that will have Jane questioning herself. Do they have what it will take to get them to their happily ever after? Hunter and Jane had me all caught up in their story!

Jane needs a job. Hunter hires her as a nanny for Autumn his daughter. Jane and Autumn get along great. Hunter is a hard one to describe his emotions. Then his ex comes to the house to recover. There is miscommunication all around and things get turned into a mess. Jane leaves. Kelly Myers is a wonder story teller and I love this series. This book is a must read it was very entertaining. The characters are warm and relatable the story just flows along. There is some drama but what is a story without drama.

Jane needed a place since her other roommates were leaving and she couldn't afford to stay by herself. Jane was sitting when a little girl approached her. She was worried the girl, Autumn was lost. Finally it was cleared up when Hunter came to claim Autumn. He saw how Jane handles his daughter and invited her to work as a nanny to his child. She took him up on his offer. Jane did a great job taking and controlling Autumn. Feelings are taking hold between them. An unexpected situation arises, actually two of them. Jane is confused and runs away but Hunter isn't going to let her go. This is such a moving book. I loved the ending.
Single Dad and the Nanny Hunter is a single father that wants to control everything and everyone in his life which results in a revolving door of nannies till Jane comes on the scene. She’s not willing to follow his schedule and be under his control. The attraction and chemistry between the two are explosive, but all is almost lost due to misunderstandings. This is a well written steamy romance that has an intriguing storyline. Fell in love with the characters hoping all would not be lost and they could live happily ever after as a family. Another great Kelly Myers read! I received an ARC of this book from the author in return for voluntarily writing an honest review.
Misunderstood is a steamy slow burn romance read. it is part of the Forbidden Love Series but it can be read as a standalone I personally didn’t read the first two and I don’t feel like I missed anything story wise.
Its a cute romance read with lots of misunderstandings, and drama from the misunderstandings.
Little bit of a spoiler
It did kind of annoy me that Hunter says he is in love with Jane but he doesn’t actually know much about her past (ex like where she’s from what school she goes to) so I do understand why Jane ran off communication was not a factor in their relationship.

3.5 stars. MISUNDERSTOOD has the adorable pre-schooler, aloof millionaire dad, sweet nanny/student and a story line that incorporated an ex to confuse everyone and contribute to the misunderstandings.
It was a fairly typical story. I liked the ex twist because I like the jealousy factor and how it forces someone to put forth more effort to make their partner feel safe and loved.
I didn’t really get the feels from this couple, though. I didn’t see many things that screamed “passionate romance”, but I’ll let you be the judge of that.

Jane takes a nanny position for a single Dad of a precocious lite girl. He is a take control kind of guy and does not like to let control go which is one of the reasons he has had a hard time keeping a nanny for his daughter. Jame does not let him take control and it infuriates him. She is falling for him and ends up sleeping with him and becomes pregnant. Ther are issues with his ex moving back in to recuperate and a lot of miscommunication. Will Jane be able to handle all the stress and his attitude oe will she too bail on him and his daughter? Intriguing read.

Jane needed a place to stay and Hunter need a nanny who could handle his out if control daughter. Hunter felt he had to control everything. He never paid attention to what his daughter wanted and needed and not just what he wanted. His structure was different from Jane's. Hunter started noticing how hus daughter responded to Jane. She accepted directions and disciplined as long as she understood in her mind why she was being disciplined. When Hunter moved another person into the house without full telling the complete reason why, thing got complicated.
This was a good story about communication and trust.
Misunderstood features Hunter McMillan, a Wall Street millionaire and divorced single parent of four year old Autumn, and Jane Hill, a grad student who Autumn finds in Central Park who soon becomes her live in nanny. Hunter and Jane have instant attraction which soon becomes complicated by the arrival of his ex-wife, Serena, who is recovering from injuries she received from a tragic car accident which killed her new husband. This well written romance is a highly enjoyable read with fantastic characters and great storyline.

I really enjoyed this book, i thought it was well written and loved the storyline. It was a full read, the storyline was quite heart breaking to be honest. Poor Autumn feeling out of sorts but seems to only express herself by being naughty, that is until she meets Jane and they click straight away. Autumn's Dad Hunter has not seen his daughter respond like that before so offers Jane a job. Jane excepts and she helps Autumn and her Dad do better and its a great to watch them all grow. Loved it great chemistry between Hunter and Jane. Great read. Highly recommend. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Hunter was ready to pull his hair out. His four-year old daughter has gone through so many nannies. She was more than a handful, having temper tantrums and acting out in anger. No nanny stayed longer than a couple of days. What was he to do.
Enter Jane...she had a refreshing way of handling his daughter. Before long she had calmed down the household and Standing up to Hunter.
A phone call in the middle of the night brought unexpected changes to the household. His ex-wife becomes part of the household, Jane finds out she is pregnant, and the calm household is froth with caos.
Awww I really liked this read, it had a bit of everything, cuteness, love, friendship, hardships, sadness, misunderstandings and more. Jane and Hunter’s characters are great, although Autumn is really cute, but in need of some serious changes in her life. Jane brings so much to this story but her own self doubt nearly ruins everything. Nice plot and story, the writing is good. Lots of angst, and some difficult scenes, but also some very nice scenes, the love scenes are steamy but cute, and the relationship between Hunter and Jane is lovely. Overall a nice read, I just wish the ending was longer.
This is a typical rich man falling for his nanny. Only in this story he is a single dad. His daughter has not made it easy for Hunter with nanny after nanny. But when she wanders away in the park he finds her play dancing happily with Jane. So he offers her a job as her new nanny. So when her roommates all move out and she can't afford the rent and still go to school, she does the one thing she can. Becomes a nanny. But things are definitely misunderstood.
