It's 1986, and the National Surfing Championships have finally come to Wahoo Beach. Tiffany Sloan has her hands full enough running the Putts & Stuff arcade and mini-golf complex. But when a mega gnarly wipeout takes down the championship's frontrunner and totally harshes the tournament vibes, Tiffany must grab a cold Tab and pound sand to determine if the death was a tragic accident or something more majorly sinister.

This is the second in the Major Bummer Murders series, and I have to say I did end up liking it fairly amount. I am still charmed by the setting and all the 80's references. Also, I enjoyed the mystery much more in this book than in the first. I was genuinely curious about whodunnit. One of my only critiques is that sometimes in Tiffany's rush to solve the mystery, she makes some really odd jumps in logic that really make no sense. Other than that, this was an fun cozy mystery, and I wouldn't mind continuing on in the series.
The author must have been a surfer because she totally nailed the lingo! I loved seeing all my favorite characters from "Gag Me with a Spoon" back for more amateur sleuthing and murder mystery solving! Tiff, Zero, Officer Aviators, the Doublemint Twins...they're all back and better than ever. If you love cozy mysteries and traveling back in time to the radical 1980's, you will love this book! Can't wait for the next Melrose McFadden mystery!
I've read a third of this book but had to stop. It was very heavy on surfing terms and light on interesting activity. I skipped a lot of it just to see if it would get better. The first book of the series, "Gag me with a spoon" was heavy and knowledgeable regarding in 80's scene but had likeable characters and a mystery so I wanted to continue. I shouldn't have!! Maybe when I want to try it again, I'll like it better. Now is not that time for me.
