Under the name K.T. Coatney, I write fast-paced suspense featuring the elite agents of FIRE—Federal Investigations and Reconnaissance Enforcement—where danger is real, the stakes are high, and love is the last line of defense.
As Kathy Coatney, I bring that same passion for storytelling to deeply emotional, small-town contemporary romance. My novels explore themes of love, community, and the agricultural roots that have shaped my life. Some readers may remember me as Kate Curran, but these days, all my books are published under the Coatney name.
I’m also the author of the nonfiction children’s series From the Farm to the Table and Dad’s Girls, celebrating the journey from farm to fork.

Falling For You...Again Clare and Ethan Burke had the perfect marriage and family until tragedy struck and they lost their daughter, Grace. In the 2 years since they lost Grace, they have grown apart and they're barely civil to each other. However, they still love each other and want to fix their marriage-- they simply don't know how to accomplish that. Can they find their way back to each other?
Falling For You...Again is not the story of Clare and Ethan alone. Their sons, Jack and Ben, were deeply affected by the death of Grace. To make matters worse, they have also had to deal with their parents disintegrating marriage. Clare and Ethan's parents have undergone changes the past 2 years while dealing with the loss of their granddaughter. Friends have been changed, too. This is realistic because death affects so many people. I was very pleased to find the story dealt with that fact. I've read other books where only the parents are affected and that is not true to life in any way.
This story deals with loss and could be depressing. Kate Curran has infused the book with hope instead of with darkness. She has done a very good job of showing how different people respond to grief and how they each have their own way of dealing with it and getting on with their lives. She lets the reader know there are no right or wrong ways to deal with loss. And that healing takes time and there are no easy answers. Refreshing.
This is a well-written, thoughtful, moving book. I highly recommend it. The characters are all realistic-- flawed beings who are trying their best to handle the tragedy thrown at them while maintaining a semblance of normalcy. People who believe love and understanding will help them overcome all obstacles. Who realize honest communication is an absolute must for a relationship to be strong.
Falling in Love With Him Another terrific book in the Falling In Love series. I was hooked from the beginning. The characters are likable and the plot is engaging. CJ and Nate are perfect for each other. I urge you to read this entire series.
Forever Mine Forever Mine was an entertaining story. Griffin and Cassie have known each other since they were kids but it's only since he returned to Hope's Crossing a year ago that they have really noticed each other in a romantic way. With Cassie being a full-time mom to her cousin's three boys, she doesn't have much time for romance. Griffin is still hurting over the loss of his son and too emotional to truly open up about his feelings. Somehow, they still find time to fall in love. It was an enjoyable read watching them go from first date to HEA.
Forever Yours Another terrific book in the Return To Hope's Crossing series. Willa returns to Hope's Crossing to help her uncle after he has a heart attack. Ben is her uncle's next-door neighbor and has recently returned to town from playing baseball in the majors. They decide to resume their high school friendship but it quickly turns into so much more. While they've both been burned by love, they dive headfirst into a relationship. I liked that Ben had always been a jock but got a teaching degree in college so he would have something to fall back on if he needed it. I liked that Willa did whatever it took to realize her dream of owning her own business and is putting that same zest into saving Mumford Theater. Cornelius has been a crotchety man since he was introduced in the series. I'm glad we got a chance to see he has a heart and would do anything for his nieces. If you're looking for a sweet romance with likable characters, a good supporting cast, and an engaging plot then read Forever Yours.
