An arranged courtship that benefits them both. What could possibly go wrong?
Lady Lauren Evans, daughter of the Duke of Edinburgh, couldn't care less about marriages and courtship. But her father’s gambling makes her family desperate to marry her off to a rich husband, even if she is not at all prepared for it...
When she meets that cheeky Duke of Buckingham who proposes to start some fake courtship so that both can get rid of the insane pressure of their families to marry, she heartily agrees. But what happens when fake feelings turn into true love?
Frederick and Eleanor are both reluctant to be married but they arranged a fake courtship but the feelings they felt were real They separated but the feelings were still there The characters are determined and they found happiness A good and well written story Very enjoyable
Frederick and Lauren are both headstrong individuals who know their own minds. What they had not planned on is falling in love with one another when their mothers arranged a marriage for them. They are well fleshed out three dimensional characters who leap off the pages and into the reader’s heart. The mothers are lovable in their own way, while Lauren’s father is frustrating. The downside of this story is there are a lot of extra words sprinkled throughout, breaking the flow of the story. There is a plethora of details in this story that enhance it, making it even more real. A delightful story, it can easily be read in a single sitting. A wonderful addition to The Duke’s Desire series, one anxiously awaits for more!
2.5 stars Her: convinced that if she shits on everyone around her, men will see her for her and love her for the gentle kinds soul she is and not think she's a total bitch. Him: convinced that everyone is out for his title only and will betray him like the last girl. Together they decide to fake a courtship, which leads to another installment of "if they'd only talk to each other like rational adults this novel would have been half as long!"
Ms. Byrd has written a winner here! An arranged marriage by their mothers, neither gives the other a chance, agree to a courtship only if they break it shortly after. Very interesting story, if you like regency books, you’ll love this!
Storyline has been thoroughly over used in this genre, and this book added nothing new. No well built characters, new twists or clever wit. All in all it was a waste of time to read.
Love how fast paced the story was and loved the characters. Mothers ,who are friends, wanting their children to wed so they may have grandchildren. A best friend who is the wisest man of all plays a very important role that produces a happy ending.
I really enjoyed the story but was so upset with the lack of proper editing. Words added, words missing, words misspelled. Very disruptive for a good story.
