Four years later, he's the one dragging me screaming from my coma.
The viciously domineering, brutal, terrifyingly gorgeous tyrant who haunts the shattered fragments of my memories. The man with dark gray eyes as cold as his dark gray soul.
I remember almost nothing from my past. But he does. Now, he owns my present, and my future.
Because Konstantin didn’t wake me up for free. He brought me out of my darkness to engulf me in his.
To own me. To trap me in a maze of twisted games and jagged thorns.
Now I’m bound to the broken god of wrath and ruin who might hold the key to my past.
Or maybe, to my unraveling.
Broken God is book 1 in a duet and not a standalone book. The completed duet is a standalone story within the Savage Heirs series, though. You do not need to have read the previous books in this series to read this duet.
This extra dark Bratva academy romance is guaranteed to leave your kindle steaming. Step into the viper’s nest of Oxford Hills Academy and meet the Savage Heirs of Bratva kings and oligarchs. Absolutely no cheating.
A reader first and foremost, Jagger Cole cut his romance writing teeth penning various fan-fiction stories years ago. After deciding to hang up his writing boots, Jagger worked in advertising pretending to be Don Draper. It worked enough to convince a woman way out of his league to marry him, though, which is a total win.
Now, Dad to two little princesses and King to a Queen, Jagger is thrilled to be back at the keyboard.
When not writing or reading romance books, he can be found woodworking, enjoying good whiskey, and grilling outside—rain or shine.
Note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Note 2: This is a series. But this book and the next book: Defiant Queen, releasing March 10 2022 are a duet. Please read in order. Characters do make cameos.
This was an extremely steamy, falling short on the action, mafia-ness, and cruel behaviour supposedly depicted by the hero, and the heroine being too weak for my own patience book.
Things that shocked me: the MMC (male main character) teaching the FMC (female main character) teaching her sex education classes, supposedly helping her to groom herself better and being a saint (because well he's never been with anyone physically)
What shocks me more: the hero being a saint (not been with anyone physically) and yet being able to sex education lessons. Do you see what I mean?
But- this book was interesting a bit. I mean my first time reading a male romance author (due to mostly getting books from female authors), and it wasn't so bad.
I mean the steam was a bit overdone - considering they were sole enemies and should have probably had more shenanigans, evil plots, and last minute plot twists to throw a person off. That all came in the last 97 percent. But still I enjoyed the steam. Emotions were not available, please call them later.
The characters - probably liked the hero more than the heroine. I mean yes she is 18 but cmon, I've seen far more stronger and hard headed heroines than her and considering she is a supposed mafia princess. But maybe that's what the author was going for? Who knows. But the hero was devious up to a certain point - which I backtracked out of - but still enjoyed.
The plot - overshadowed by steam. I promise you all 18 year olds are not busy f- with each other - rather paying taxes, or supporting themselves, or in a mafia action case - you make evil plots happen. Not..what this book was about.
The side characters - the heroine doesn't understand the concept of maybe listening to your family is the right thing, since they've taken your side in so many matters -but no,she loved being a -- about it so...eh lost my concentration right there. But the villains and her family were something to look forward to - reminds me to read the previous books for sure.
This novel does have redeemable qualities, but not a lot, I am afraid.
Defiant Queen - final book in this duet of Broken God and Defiant Queen books - will be releasing March 10 2022. So I will be looking forward to that - considering that oh wow plot twist at the end of Broken God.
Basic safety info: check my shelves!!! lemme just say Konstantine is delicious :D Ends w a cliffhanger tho, the author had warned about that, still i could not stop myself from reading this, this is a duet!!! Patiently waiting for the next book!!! <3
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
It was a little confusing for me cuz for some reason i missed the other books in this series, all but Bastian's which i didn't like much so i felt like something is missing...because i don't know what happened before their story...because both of them where in the other couple books and it was so annoying for me. The story is interesting BUT i felt like it was dragged on and on and on without developments you know? with a lot of questions...i feel like this should've been just 1 book because it was getting boring in some parts ... Anyway... i like Kostantin event tho i always hate when we get characters that don't do normal teenagers stuffs..but ok .. it was fine .
Wow! This book was unputdownable!! I loved this book, I mean loved!! 🥰 Each book in this whole series just gets better and better. All of the dark characters are so interesting, their past horrors and their will to survive.
Mara and Konstantin have some kind of past, but it’s still not clear what the details are. From the moment they “meet” at OHA there is a push and pull, I was intrigued and sometimes I was sad for Mara and her memory problems from being in a coma for 4 years. I can’t wait to find out about Romeo! There is one scene in this book that is unforgettable, so intimate and steamy!!
The way it ended has me in such anticipation for the second book on March 10th! Please be sure to read the first books before reading this, it will shed a lot of light on the other characters.
I received an advanced copy of this book to provide my voluntary review. Highly recommended!!
Just wow how all the pieces unfold. To be fair I recently learned that these two would be a thing from a book I read. So I got a quick glance into their future. But this one gutted me.
I can't wait to read book two. I am just hooked on Cole and his twisted Bratva Prince's of darkness.
Now I find the reading order... OMG I am so far down the rabbit hole already.
What a great start to the duet between Konstantin and Mara! Broken God had me up until 2am so I can only imagine what Defiant Queen will do to me. 😩
Konstantin and Mara play a delicious game of cat and mouse while also skirting a past that you know is tragically intertwined. I thought I had it figured out but then once I was done reading I stared at the ceiling wondering if I had anything right.
I’m looking forward to finding out more of who Mara is as she herself uncovers her own past. Is she as sweet as she seems? Was there a darker side to her then and she’s just rediscovering it now? WE DON’T KNOW. I need to know.
Also there’s this one bath tub scene and yeah… it’s a good one. In fact the spice level is sensually superb in general. 😮💨
Between the mysteries left to unravel and the tension left thickening the air between Konstantin and Mara the set up for book two hits perfectly. The ending leaves you unsettled yet yearning for more. I feel like we’re gonna get a lot of answers in the next book and I need it nowww!
BROKEN GOD is the fifth instalment in Jagger Cole’s contemporary, new adult SAVAGE HEIRS dark, erotic, Mafia romance series, and the first instalment in the author’s interconnected duet. This is eighteen year old Mafia princess Mara Belsky, and heir to the Reznikov’s throne Konstantin Reznikov’s story line. BROKEN GOD can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but for back story I recommend reading BRUTAL KING where Mara’s story begins.
WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Konstantin and Mara)and emails from the past, BROKEN GOD focuses on the weeks after eighteen year old Mara Belsky wakes from a four year coma, a coma induced by a bullet to the back of her head. Mara has no recollection of what happened four years earlier, and in the ensuing time, only bits and pieces from throughout her hospital stay come to the forefront and quickly disappear but Mara’s return to ‘civilization’ begins with her introduction to the Oxford Hills Academy, a private, preparatory school for the rich and infamous, an introduction that includes the dark and dangerous Konstantin Reznikov. Konstantin Reznikov has a precarious and murderous reputation, a reputation earned by his need for control and his ability to kill without remorse, but Konstantin has set his sights on our story line heroine, blackmailing and threatening a young woman who is barely able to control her own life; a girl who is unable to remember what happened or why. What ensues is the acrimonious but building relationship between Konstantin and Mara, and the fall-out as hidden secrets reveal a much darker and more dangerous betrayal than Mara could have ever imagined.
The relationship between Mara and Konstantin is that of jailer and prisoner. Konstantin wants to control every aspect of Mara’s life but in doing so slowly succumbs to his attraction to our story line heroine. Mara knows that to defy Konstantin would threaten the lives and families of the people she loves, people who struggle to understand the control Konstantin has over our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are aggressive and intense with some behavior and actions of questionable consent.
Most of the previous story line couples have cameo roles. We are reintroduced to Mara’s twin sister Lizbet and her boyfriend Lucas (Brutal King); the requisite mean girls, as well as Mara’s former bodyguard Grigori.
BROKEN GOD is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, murder and retribution, secrets and lies. The premise is dark, gritty, raw and dramatic; the characters are broken, embattled, powerful and charismatic; the romance is a power-struggle in which Mara is often threatened when she disobeys or talks back-Konstantin is broken, a bully, a powerful Mafia ‘god’ who is determined to break our story line heroine. BROKEN GOD ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.
»You're in my world now, Mara. And I'm not letting you go anywhere.«

❥ 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒂 Really liked her. She is smart, relatable and just a sweetheart. She suffers from amnesia and has a hard time remembering.
❥ 𝑲𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏 He is big, bad and fucking psychotic. I liked him.
✥ 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌 This was okay, the ending was good though. I‘m not a fan of duets cause I have the feeling it‘s most of the time not necessary and the authors just try to drag out stories from their favourite characters. This was not bad but not very good either. It was very slow and the plot was too short for these over 300 pages. Still I really enjoyed reading this book. It was entertaining most of the time and I had fun reading it. Mara and Konstantin have good tension and I liked their dynamic. There are a lot of secrets and lies between them and it was thrilling to read. There are some twists and turns and some of them came rather surprising. Overall this was good but I am sceptical if it‘s necessary to write two books about this couple - we will see in the next part.
𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤? Yes, if you enjoyed the previous books in this series.
Broken God ( Savage Heirs #5) by Jagger Cole picks up with Mara getting ready to start OHA for the final 3 months of school. Not wanting to live with her sister Lizbet, Mara has decided to stay at one of the school's cottage. Mara has been in a coma for 4 years and wants to experience all the things she has missed. What she didn't expect was to be on Konstantin's radar. Now on his radar, he has made it his mission to as he says it, to unravel her. Konstantin is doing more than just unraveling her. Somehow he has gotten Mara to move in with him where he has put his plan in motion. I was concerned for Mara regarding what was happening between her and Konstantin. What he does to her is something else. Their relationship definitely made for a really good story. I don't want to give to much away about this story. Just know that Konstantin has some serious things going on with him. We see how he became the person we have seen in the previous books. As well, Mara discovers so many things about her that has her extremely surprised. As she is making these new discovers she is also learning more about the past she has forgotten. I was left with a surprise that was equivalent to a microphone drop. Blew my mind and left my mouth gapped wide open. I am so excited about the next book. 4.5 read for me.
4 Stars All I remember is the shaving scene... They just about met, and he went down and expertly shaved those hairy legs and pits🪒🫣 What is Konstantin doing as a Bratva boss when he could have been working in a beauty salon???
Anyways, the spice was noiiice😍💋💋💋 and it didn't hurt that they were both virgins and kept all first experiences for the other.
Wow I really can't wait for the second half of this story. Konstantin is so much larger than life and Mara I feel for her. Missing out on so much but trying to catch up but keep everyone happy. Mara just woke up from a 4 year coma and started prep at OHA with her twin sister Lizbet who we met in Jagger's last book. Konstantin who had a hand in waking Mara up also wants something from her. Drama galore with a mystery, I loved the intensity between Mara and Konstantin. He was extremely alpha, dominant and with an intensity that just took your breath away. But he is starting to soften up. Mara is somewhat naive, with a fierce determination to live her life after everything she missed. Such an outstanding story, full of steam, a smidge romantic, just so demonstrative and hot. Just Wow!! Jagger Cole just wowed me with this one. It really was brilliant how those characters came to 3D life. Perfect!! This was an ARC and this is my honest review.
Holy wow. I had to read this in one sitting. It was fiery hot from start to the cliffhanger at the end. I cannot wait for the second part to see the ending between Konstantin and Mara. Sparks flew the entire story.
The spice in this book is worth 5 stars alone! I knew I was going to love Mara and Konstantin’s story and I was prepared for my heart to be put through it but WOW! Very excited to see how this story plays out in Defiant Queen. Given the title, I am eager to learn how Mara takes control of her life and hope she gives Konstantin high levels of stress lol. For the authors first duet book, he blew it out of the water! Never boring moments that some authors add to drag the book on. I was invested from the start. I received this book for free in exchange for my honest opinion on this review.
I just finished reading Jagger Cole’s Broken God which is about a “relationship” between Konstantin Reznikov and Mara Belsky. The main setting is at an elite prep school Oxford Hills Academy that has been a common thread for the whole series. Mara had been in a coma for that last four years of her life. She was shot in the back of her head by an unknown assailant and was in a coma until she received a breakthrough medical treatment that woke her from her slumber. Mara is awake but has no memory as to what happened to her when she was shot. From an emotional and maturity perspective, she was “frozen in time” at the age 14 while her twin sister Lizbet was forced to grow up quickly, fight for their Mafia inheritance so she could take care of her sister’s “needs,” as well as attend Oxford Hills Academy. In time, it is decided that Mara will attend the last 3 months of school at Oxford Hills Academy.
In the meantime, Konstantin Reznikov has been “present” in the background of Mara while she was hospitalized. The reader does find out that it was Konstantin’s money that paid for the cutting-edge medical treatment which brought Mara out of her coma. Konstantin creeps around in the shadows of Mara’s life until she attends Oxford Hills Academy; then it becomes personal for him. Throughout this whole novel and right to the very end, I had a phrase that came into my mind regarding Konstantin—"the young man is a psychopath.” In the first three books of the series, it was clear that Ilya, Misha, and Lukas were “damaged” young man who were raised in the Bratva. But even as flawed characters, they had redeeming qualities that slowly modified my viewpoint of them as the novels progressed. With Konstantin, I don’t feel that at all. I feel he is unstable mentally and emotionally and is like a landmine idling… waiting to go off. To be honest, this novel is a duet with Defiant Queen as its conclusion. Perhaps that Konstantin’s character arc will be resolved then.
Konstantin stalks Mara on campus eventually forcing her to move into the large Lachlan house. There the “relationship” between Konstantin and Mara gets darker and twisted as each day ticks by…
In conclusion, Konstantin is a bi-polar psychopath and stalker who manipulates a fragile Mara to the edge of her sanity with his orders, punishment, and sexuality. I just cannot find anything redeeming about Konstantin. This was an emotional challenging book for me to read.
This book's plot is what makes it 4 stars. I like how everything is vague and then it suddenly clicks but not everything. Things almost are solved and clear to us but we are not done yet, there is more to everything! The main couple is in a very toxic relationship which should alert them both but seems "the heart wants what it wants". all the signs say they are bad for each other, it's interesting how it seems they are so innocent inside, their emotions are just full of layers, adding to that trauma and history heavier than both of them. the result is just that!
Well then… Mara is finally awake from her coma and who does she end up living with!?! If you guessed Konstantin you would be correct. Whoa!!! I did not see that coming. Or maybe I did. It’s hard to say.
Please note this is book one of a duet. It DOES end on a cliffhanger and now I am anxiously waiting to see what happens next. That ending!!!!
Beyond stupid. DNF at 47%. I’m surprised I made it that far. Dark. Brutal. These are supposed to be 18 year old kids. Last year of high school. Ridiculous with this plot.
Dark Russian Mafia Romance About Vengeance, Obsession & Possessiveness
*** Some Spoiler May be Present***
As Dark Russian Mafia Romances go… This one is not bad. ( Really it’s not)
Mara Belsky, now eighteen, fresh out of a four year coma after being shoot in the back if the head during a shootout between her bodyguards and the Revnikov Bratva family, slowly begins to put her life back together.
While she has come through issues with her cognition, and battling memory loss, she finds herself excited to finally be starting at the very prestigious, VERY exclusive Oxford Hills Academy ( OHA ).
Unfortunately she is not the only very wealthy member of a Russian Bratva family to be in attendance.
Besides Bratva Heirs Iiya, Misha and Luka: Two dating sis, Lizbeth’s friends while Luka is Mara’s brother in-law,. There is another Bratva heir present, the dark moody, psychologically disturbed head of the Reznikov family Konstantin.
And Konstantin has vengeance on his mind. He holds Mara and the Belsky family responsible for what happened to his beloved mother
“Heavy is the head that wears the crown. Unflinching is the arm that swings the sword of vengeance.”
Konstantin has a plan, and is on a mission to OWN and control every element of Mara’s life.
“He wants to see her unravel”
Thus he orchestrates getting her out of her dorm like cottage and moved into a luxurious Tudor manor.
Where it’s just the two of them.
It’s here where he sets his plans in motion to use Mara has his personal “sex toy” depriving her liberty.
He keeps her under close watch and his control as he uses her body and “awakens” all her dark sexual fantasies. Fantasies that the blushing Mara try’s hard to hide.
Meanwhile she has to deal with the fallout that will inevitably occur once her twin sister and her friends, discovers that she just might be falling for the “dark king “
There is also a further back story revolving around the fourteen year old Mara ( before things turned to S***) who has an online relationship/ crush with a boy code name “Romeo” where she is his “Juliet” this is played out as Mara read through her old emails
So. Just who really IS this Romero???
This all lead up to the big dramatic reveal at the end, which leaves us with a shattered, betrayed Mara heartbroken, dragging herself back to Odessa on a mission to find the truth. Leading us into book two.
Plot wise, this is not a bad read, however as far as the relationship between Konstantin and Mara,….that pretty much goes as expected.
Cue, Mara being defiant and being punished with lots, and LOTS of HOT sex between these two.
There is STILL a slow burn element to this story though, as, despite these two getting down and dirty fooling around, they don’t actually consummate things until very close to the end.
Although this is the case, I still didn’t like how Mara wimped out, and capitulated to Konstantin demands pretty much straight away. ( she had four years of pent up sexual tension to relieve herself of…Horny B )
Only offering up a petulant, brattish behaviour as a come back. ( these tweens these days)
Then, as expected, once the deed is DONE, the S**t hits the fan, ( as always) before these two can become boringly happy together.
Romero and Juliet undertones are rife, with the two young Bratva heirs betrothed at twelve by two waring families. ( plus the whole email thing)
Things the bothered me about the story
Luxlordia,???
WTF kind of lame a** name is Luxlordia??? ( where Charlotte, Lizbeth bestie is a Princess no less)
Tripping female lead characters: personal pet peeve, that end up with the clumsy FL in the “big strong arms” of her protagonist. (Again, and again)
I also had a problem with that fact, that in many respects, Mara is still very much emotionally fourteen years old. With (obviously) limited life experience, so, the crash course in sex she’s getting at the hands of Konstantin, seems difficult for me, to process at times.
She always, ALWAYS is “clenching”. Her core is always hot and aches. Her Pu§§y is always dripping WET! In some ways this book is kinda an Ex rated Disney, Sleeping Beauty retelling
The dark evil Bratva Prince Konstantin, is responsible for the beautiful Belsky Princess Mara, awakening from her deep comatose sleep.
With a second book, you just know that Mara is going to find Konstantin absolving him from any guilt, and these two crazy kids are going to get their HEA. You also know that Konstantin. With all his family Bratva at his disposal, will know exactly where Mara is heading. Things have a way of working out like that in these books. Four stars, for interesting plot, despite some very obvious tropes.
This book was all that I had hoped for and more. I received an ARC copy and it basically made my weekend. I devoured this new book by Jagger Cole and it left my anxiously anticipating the second book in the duet. Mara and Konstantin are brilliant together, such an unlikely combo and so much drama in both their respective worlds. I could not imagine liking Konstantin, and yet Jagger Cole somehow makes even him redeemable to me. Mara is fierce, innocent and yet a total force to be reckoned with. I cannot wait to see what happens next for these two, a major backstory was alluded to for them and there was quite the cliffhanger.
“It’s taken getting lost in him, to be found.” Mara Belsky
WHAT THE FORK JAGGER COLE! Me as I read BROKEN GOD three times as an ARC & Verified Purchase. This is the newest in his Savage Heirs series (recommend that you read Books 1-4 so you know all of the background on all of the characters). Konstantin Reznikov, tall, dark, cold, powerful with gun-metal grey eyes, doesn’t ask..he demands and expect severe consequences if you defy him. Mara Belsky, twin to Lizbet (BRUTAL PRINCE #4) has recently awakened from a 4 year coma. Somewhere, somehow, this coma links Konstantin and Mara together. Binds them. “I know what you did.” he tells her. Doesn’t matter that she is clueless nor do we readers. He moves her into his residence, Lachlan House, on the OHA campus, where she spends, outside of classes and designated time with her twin, ALL of her time with Konstantin.
Konstantin awakens “Sleeping Beauty” in more ways than one. OMG the bathroom scene. They are passionate when they argue and demand; pushing each other’s buttons. He has a push-pull with her and she is struggling to simply remember and reclaim the missing 4 years, while standing toe-to-toe with Konstantin. Who is Romeo? We too want the answer to THAT one. What IS the link which connects them? Who wants to destroy him?
In typical Jagger Cole fashion, Konstantin and Mara are great characters. Both are strong, complex, defiant, determined to succeed and somehow compliment each other. As readers, we are drawn to their story and to each of them both separately and together. What is at their core as we peel layers like onion skin. What is in front of us that we are missing? What is in the Second book, DEFIANT QUEEN on 10 March? Twists, turns per usual along with humor and dark moments. Dark, damaged, angry Konstantin. Blossoming Mara. Who to trust? And when confronted with what she “thinks” are TRUTHS” are they?
I dont get it. I'm at a complete loss of what the actual plot is supposed to be. I realize this is the first of two books so I'm hoping the second book actually contains some substance because this one didn't offer much. This first book has just been a whole lot of Konstantin blackmailing and manipulating a very fragile Mara and basically turning her into a sex addicted slave or as he referred to her an obedient "slut." This is quite the impressive feat considering he was an 18 year old virgin. *eye roll* I have been a big fan of this Dark Bratva Academy series up to this point. I am very familiar with the characters from the previous books. I find this book insulting to those characters. Why hasn't Lizbet showed up to check on her sister she's so worried about? Why has Lukas not confronted Konstantin about the safety of his sister-in-law? Their lack of action and concern for Mara doesn't line up with the characters we were introduced to in the previous books. This is the first Jagger Cole book I've ever struggled with so I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt, continue on to book 2 and hope the second half of Konstantin and Mara's story is far better than the first.
“It’s taken getting lost in him, to finally be found.” Mara Belsky
WHAT THE FORK JAGGER COLE! Me as I read BROKEN GOD three times! This is the newest in his Savage Heirs series. (Just because you should… read Books 1-4 so you know all of the background on all of the characters) Konstantin Reznikov, tall, dark, cold with gun-metal gray eyes doesn’t ask… he demands and expect severe consequences if “you” cross him. Mara Belsky, twin to Lizbet (BRUTAL PRINCE) has awakened from a four year coma. Somewhere and somehow, this coma links Konstantin and Mara together. Binds them. “I know what you did.” he tells her. Doesn’t matter that she doesn’t know, nor do we readers have a clue. He moves her into his house on the OHA campus, where she spends, outside of her classes, and approved time with her twin, ALL of her time with Konstantin.
Konstantin awakens “Sleeping Beauty” in more ways then one. OMG the bathroom scene. 🔥. They are passionate when they argue and demand; pushing each other’s buttons. Must absolutely read. An honest review as an ARC and because I also purchased the book. Currently reading through again… what clues am I missing? WTFJC?
I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.
It's official: Jagger Cole has become one of my favorite authors. This book is amazing! I've been saying that about each book Jagger writes, thinking there's NO way the next book can top my love of said previous book, and EACH TIME I fall in love with the characters even more than the last. And I've read every book he's wrote, so I know haha.
Konstantin. Didn't think I was going to like him, after the first 4 books in the series - you always have to have a bad guy right? Then again, he may still be the bad guy since this is a DUET and I have to wait!! But, perhaps, I may have fallen for him even more so?! There is so much to unravel with him that I'm smitten, but still leery of his intentions by the end of this book, so I'm really really wishing I had the next book to dive into to see what the heck he has to say to redeem himself!
And Mara. Sweet Mara. Being in a coma for 4 years and coming out of that has to be hard, but she is 100% a fighter. Going into college, after basically no high school - you have to be smart for that and she is also determined to succeed no matter what. But she also wants to live her life and experience everything she's missed. Lizbeth is a swarming, smothering mother, but the love you can feel between those two is amazing.
The tension between Mara and Konstantin?! Like, my goodness, this book is intense, spicy, steamy, just everything. I loved every second of it and I'm honestly really grateful this is a duet and hopefully we get more of the tension between these two. Plus the fact that Jagger loves his readers and is only making us wait 2 weeks before the amazing second book is 100% fantastic!
I can't rave enough about this series, about this AUTHOR and I need more people to read his books because they are just amazing! I'm so glad I stumbled upon his novels and now I'm collecting all of the books! Go read this - ASAP!
Jagger Cole has done it again! Each book and character in this amazing series just gets better and better.
This is the darkest book so far, Konstantin with his cold grey eyes, dark heart and a past so twisted and cruel, how on earth did he mange to win me over so quickly? Jagger Cole's brilliant writing of course! We were introduced to Mara in the previous book, who has recently woken up from a 4 year coma and is now 18 years old. Mara has some catching up to do for missing the last 4 years of her life and joins her twin sister, Lizbet (and the rest of the mafia gang) at OHA. Konstantin blackmails Mara into moving in with him as she tries to remember her past. Who is the mysterious Romeo she was emailing but had never met at 14 years old and more importantly, why has Konstantin insisted she lives with him?
I absolutely love how the author drew me into this book, most of the book is set in the house they share, it felt like I was living with them, witnessing every detail of how Mara refused to agree to the various strict house rules Konstantin made, actually goading him on purpose. The way Konstantin was so dominating, how they questioned themselves whilst pushing each other's buttons on purpose for a passionate response was so well written and such a page turner. At one point I was actually Mara in the 🔥 bath scene, it was so well written.
I knew in advance that this is a duet so naturally expected a cliffhanger. I would have been happy with the penultimate chapter being the cliffhanger but no, Jagger Cole is so good, he takes it even further with a wait/what/never saw that coming, final chapter! Thank goodness we only have to wait until 10th March until the conclusion, Defiant Queen, is published. Jagger Cole, you have yet again exceeded my expectations of your writing, thank you.
I received an advance readers copy of this book for free and I am leaving my honest review voluntarily.
