Willow Creek Valley #3

A Moment for Us

Rate this book
I was totally over Joshua Parkerson.

Sure, I had a teenage crush on him way back when—and everyone knew it—but he never saw me as anything but his little brother's friend, the girl who got tongue-tied any time he walked into a room.

I had long ago accepted the fact that his strong arms would never hold me, his lush lips would never claim mine, and his blue eyes would never see me as anything more than who I used to be.

But now he's back in Willow Creek Valley, and there's a brand-new spark between us—even he can't fight it. Our chemistry is explosive, and every time we're together, I swear I can feel the earth shake.

It doesn't mean anything... how could it? I'm over him.

Until I see that little pink plus sign, and the earth stops turning completely.

Now I want it all again, a life with him. But Joshua built walls around his heart for a reason, and his secrets haunt him.

How can I show him that the ghosts of his past don't have to define our new family's future?

"One day, you're going to meet a man who will give you the world, Delia. He's going to love you like you deserve and provide the future you should have."

"That day isn't today, so give me what I want now."

"And what's that" I ask, willing to give her anything I can.

"You."

description

Ok, look here: if you've been sleeping on Corinne Michael's Willow Creek Valley series, then you're truly missing out. I picked up the first book earlier this year, and it prompted a backlist binge into the author's Arrowood brothers series, as there are a few crossover characters I wanted some backstory on. Here I am, 8 months and 7 books later, and I am a WRECK. If you've read the previous two books in this series, you'll know that Josh and Delia's unrequited love story has been highly anticipated from the beginning chapters of the first book, so to finally reach this stage of diving into their history felt surreal, emotional, and devastating. Please note, while the love stories featured in each book are standalone, each book ends on a bit of a cliffy that sets up the next book, so spoilers for previous books abound throughout.

I always knew that Josh was attracted to Delia, but never understood why he would spend well over a decade in avoiding any type of trial relationship with her, and now we know. 😭 I won't be including spoilers in my review, but I will include a spoiler tag at the end of this page for those with specific triggers to check at their discretion. This book is much heavier than the rest of the series, and readers should know going in that, while we still receive all the small town, cozy, atmospheric vibes, there is an oppressive side to this story as well. It took me awhile to warm up to Josh, mainly because I feel incredibly protective of Delia, but once we see his history with relationships and the trauma he's faced, I just wanted to wrap my arms around him.

If you enjoy age gap, emotional, unrequited love, and best friend's brother romance tropes, I think you'll be so pleased with A Moment for Us. That cliffhanger leading up to Ollie's book has me so stoked for the final installment of the Willow Creek Valley saga!

A Moment for Us is the third book in the 'Willow Creek Valley' series and I couldn't wait to get to Joshua and Delia's story. I was not anticipating it to be like this... so heavy. I mean, I should have known this is Corinne Michael's were talking about, but it was super emotional. Maybe her most emotional book yet. I was devistated and bawled and I know personally this was a really hard book for me to read so be sure to read the spoiler tag if you have any specific triggers .

Delia has had it bad for Joshua Parkerson for the longest time but their timing has never been right. Now that Joshua is back in Willow Creek Valley, maybe their time has come. Josh doesn't do relationships and doesn't fall in love. He can't let himself. But he does care for Delia and their connection and chemistry is strong. These two are together, but they're not, and then the unexpected happens and they're tied together forever.

This is one of those books that truly brings all the feels. It was really hard for me to get through and I didn't love the direction it took for a bit, but by the end I was in love with Josh and Delia. Even though I was heartbroken, my heart felt full by the end. Corinne's writing is always impeccable and the story was strong. After the ending with Oliver I cannot wait for the next book in this series! I adore this family and am loving these books!

If you're in the mood for a beautifully written, emotional, and angsty brother's best friend read, pick up A Moment for Us.

I once again will go on record saying that every single book Corinne writes is just so wonderful. I can literally devour her books in a day. Delia and Joshua’s love story was so fun to watch unfold. Starting from growing up together and Delia being Josh’s brothers best friend, to starting their own friendship. I loved when Josh said, “Delia is my biggest hope and my greatest fear.” 😍😍😍 and all the feels. Love all of these brothers 😍.

Delia Andrews lives in a small town in North Carolina called Willow Creek Valley. She's single, thirty two, and tired of being lonely. She's loved Joshua Parkerson since she was fifteen, and over the years her teenage crush grew. He stole her heart and never gave it back. He's always been the dream and future she wanted, but he just frustrates her and dances around their attraction. She's finally decided enough is enough. She's done chasing him, and it's time to move on with her life. Then Josh returns to Willow Creek. He's been gone for years, and now he's back in town full time to work on a project with his siblings. He's impossible to avoid and is completely irresistible. She's never been able to deny her feelings for this man. Just as she declares she's over him, one touch makes her crave more. She deserves it all, but will she take what she can get?

Josh is the oldest brother of the Parkerson siblings. He's always been the protector of his family, and the fixer. He is the one everyone turns to, but when it comes to himself he's closed off. Haunted by his past, he's not willing to share his heart. He's tried to deny the chemistry he shares with Delia. He's always wanted her, but never let himself go there. He can't give her more so he pushes her away and pretends she doesn't matter to him, but soon she's a temptation too hard to resist. Being with her feels effortless, but his feelings terrify him. As things spiral out of control will their journey end in heartbreak, or finally lead them to their happily ever after?

-She was so beautiful, and when she smiled, my breath was gone.

-Delia stirs up too much. She's been like a shooting star in my life. She's bright and fleeting. Something you want to touch but always evade because it's not meant to be held still.

OMG Corrine did it again. This book was everything. My emotions are still all over the place with this book. But Josh, he’s amazing. I fell in love with him instantly. With every hero he has his issues and several times I was yelling at him that he’s an idiot.
The epilogue though, I’m still in shock. That was a twist I didn’t see coming at all and I’m so excited to read more!

This book is amazing! You will be taken on an emotional journey that will break your heart and put it back together. Delia is strong and independent. She has been in love with Joshua since she was 15. Joshua loves Delia but she doesn’t know it because he hides his feelings after he dealt with some heartbreak in his life. Their journey will bring you to tears more than once as they attempt to find a way together. This book will leave you wanting more for sure!

A Moment for Us is about Joshua Parkerson and Delia. Delia has been in love with Josh since she was 15 years old. His brother Alex is her best friend. Delia has loved Josh from afar as she knew he could never love her in return. Just when she is ready to say enough is enough, no more, Josh and Delia come to an arrangement that works until it doesn't. Josh has had some things go on in his past that he has kept secret which has created the man he is today. Can Delia and Josh figure it out and make themselves work?? You should find this out for yourself. You will never want to put this book down.

With Corinne Michaels you know there will be ups and downs where you want to hollow and scream all while the tears are streaming down your face. Sometimes the tears come right before the smiles. If there is one thing I know its how amazing Corinne Michaels is as an author. I cannot wait for the next book and Oliver Parkerson!!!

Sweet, stupid, sexy & broken Josh! My heart is sobbing for him. So much loss that he takes on himself! His journey to happiness is definitely one that’s full of not just bumps but hug potholes. My heart is so happy that he finds his ‘happy’ in Delia and tackles his past trauma.

Shout out to the knee slappin’ old folks! I love Bill & Fred💕 And Mrs. Villafane & Mrs. Garner are two of the sweetest nosy neighbors ever.

Fave quotes:
‘Josh is the tallest of the Parkerson brothers and the broadest. Oh, and he’s the sexiest. Damn it. I meant most stubborn. Not sexiest. Okay, well, he’s both.’—it’s cute the way Delia tries to deny she still loves Josh😉

He’s lost his fucking mind. They say that women go crazy when they find out they’re pregnant, but I’ve never heard of the father losing his damn mind.🤣🤣

We aren’t replacing all you’ve lost, but we’re a second chance.—-oh my heart❤️

This is an honest review for an arc received.

“I’ve spent the better part of my life loving you, wishing that you would love me back.”

Delia Andrews has loved Josh Parkerson since she was a teenager. When he comes back to town and the two see each other again, sparks begin to fly. She’s convinced herself that she is over him, so why not have a no strings attached night to get him out of her system. Will one night be enough?

I won’t love another or let them love me, only to fail them when it matters most.

Joshua Parkerson, the oldest of the Parkerson clan is holding in major darkness. He’s always been attracted to Delia, but she was always too young for him. Agreeing to build a resort with his siblings brings him back to Willow Creek Valley. Unable to keep his hands and other things to himself when it comes to Delia, he promises her nothing but one night of pleasure. But what happens when your actions have consequences? Will Josh be able to face his past to ensure a future with Delia?

“Maybe is hope. Maybe is possible. Maybe is a start.”

5 heartwrenching stars! Jesus, Corinne Michaels! I mean, do you take great pride in completely destroying your readers hearts??? You obliterated mine. But in true Corinne Michaels fashion, you gently put it back together again. The way she creates these wonderful worlds and amazing characters, you can’t help but subject yourself to her torture. And what a beautiful torture it is. Delia has so much sass and personality, you can’t help but fall in love with her. Josh is damaged, but who doesn’t want to fix a damaged soul. I love all of these amazing characters.

“See ya later, cake killer.”

Not sure where to start with this review, so just let me start by saying Corinne Michaels is an amazing author and one of my favorites. You can always depend on her ripping your heart to pieces one way or another.

I have been excited for Delia and Josh. Delia has loved Josh Parkerson most of her life, but she knows that he will never return the feelings. Things begin to happen between them and things get serious, but that doesn’t mean that I didn’t want to slap Josh. I can completely understand why he was messed up, but for him to do what he did to Delia.

Now, we have to sit patiently and wait to see what’s going on with Oliver.

Ahh!!! Josh and Delia are too much!!!

These two are seriously one of the sweetest couples ever and their chemistry is off the walls intense!!

Long-time friends spend years ignoring the sparks between them because…well…bro code. You don’t go after your little brother’s best friend.

But when she spends years writing “Mrs. Delia Parkerson” on her journals, something tells me she’s not going to say no to one night with the person she has dreamed of for most of her life.

Ohhhh these two!!!! First we have the sweet, haunted and wounded Joshua. Then you have Delia who feels like she is the ugly duckling no one wants and just wishes the boy she has loved all her life, loved her back. Corinne breaks you into a million tiny pieces, shatters your heart some more and then puts you all back together again. Their story captivated me from the very first line and didn't let go. I was rooting for them the whole time just praying that they would get their crap together. Thankfully they finally did and it was so beautiful!!!

OMG Corinne does it once again. She is the queen of emotional  romances that bring the feels and make you shed tears.

Corinne wrote a beautiful love story that will pull on the heartstrings and make you believe in second chances. Josh and Delia have been circling each other trying to fool themselves.  But the heart wants what the heart wants. This two will go through an emotional journey that will test them at every turn but in the end make them stronger.

Corinne doesn't disappoint and I am dying a slow, slow death waiting for Ollie's book!

Arc, for an honest review.

Gah! Corinne loves putting us through the wringer. I laughed and cried, smiled and frowned. I connected with Joshua, as I am the oldest of my siblings. Joshua, YOU are loved. Delia is perfect for him, even though she is totally OVER him. Completely. And damn, these Parkerson's have some serious secrets in this family. I FLoved them.
Now I have to wait, again-for the next book.

I really loved these two characters, Delia seems like a lot of fun and definitely someone I’d like to be friends with. Josh seems like a really standup guy although definitely has a few commitment issues.

There’s a few twists and turns to the story and I did guess what was going to happen. The problem with reading mainly romance is you do tend to get a feel for how the plot will unfold and I called it quite early on. The story is quite an emotional one and some of it is tough to read. I don’t normally get overly emotional reading this type of story but actually some of the sad moments really got to me, the story is full of highs and lows.

Delia’s strength of character really carries through this story and without it these two would definitely fail. She’s got the right amount of kickass attitude to knock Josh out of his downward spiralling mentality. He clearly adores her but that demon sitting on his shoulder certainly had too much power over him.

I love the family feel to this series. We get to catch up with all the members which I love. I think Corinne covers the subject matter in this story in a very understanding way.

There’s very few authors/books that I will reread but I’m probably going to read this one again.

I’m in the minority with this book. While I did feel the emotionality of the story, I didn’t ever warm up to Josh and to be honest, Delia kinda let herself get walked over time and time again. I get unrequited love and this one was very angsty for sure but I felt bad for Delia. She told Josh multiple times her feelings and he was always saying, “I’ll be bad for you”’with no explanation. I just felt it got old, especially when he would say that Delia was always the one for him. And over and over Delia would allow herself to fall into Josh knowing the outcome. I really would have loved resolution sooner rather than later but I did love the HEA!!

I will say that I loved seeing all the family interact with one another. The Parkerson siblings are the best! It really held the story together in my eyes. So while Josh and Delia’s story wasn’t my favorite, there were tender and heartbreaking parts of the story that did make me feel for them. I am looking forward to Oliver’s story!!

Delia and Josh, Id have to say this is my favorite couple from Willow Creek anddddd Corinne didn't make us wait 60% in, when you know you know what I'm talking about.
There is a hard loss in the book and was written and handled well between the writer and the characters but it could be a trigger for others so just beware. Overall it wasnt as angsty as her other stores but I felt the ending was a bit rushed and it kind of closed too quickly with Delia and Josh. Overall I loved the story

Where do I begin?!

Like all of Corinne's books I couldn't put this one down. The raw emotions this story pulled from me are unlike anything else. It felt so real and I was wrecked because of it. I was stripped down to the bare bones of my soul and exposed to all of the feels.

This is a highly-emotional story with both main characters being in turmoil whether from their past or present. I fell hard for both Josh and Delia. I rooted for their love to triumph everything and when they were down, my goodness I sobbed my little heart out for them. And when they were up, my heart rejoiced!

Go into this book with an open heart and a box of tissues, and you will come out with such a smile on your face and a sense of gratefulness for having read their love story. It's one for the ages and one of my absolute favourites.

*sigh*

My complete and utter dislike of practically all the things in this story could possibly be because I listened to these three book back to back to back and if you've read these already then you know that's a lot of #RealLife #fuckery .... but I doubt it. I've never been a fan of overly dramatic books or stories where the leads just don't catch a single break. This is one of those stories and it just didn't need to be. The straw that broke the camels back, as they say, for me was

Choices. They are the devil I tell ya and the devil was speaking loudly to Corinne with this story!

There was a lot of #twitchyness in this journey for me. I see from most reviews that I'm in a very small minority with my thoughts and that's cool. But facts are facts and this story is #TWITCHY :)

Once again, this author brings all the feels.

Seriously!
Just so you can get the gist, at one point, I didn't even want them to be together.
Crazy, right? All. The. Feels.

Delia and Joshua have known each other for a really long time, and Delia's had a crush on him for just as long.
It seemed to be completely unrequited, but Joshua left signals here and there to feed her hope and make us think that he might actually share her feelings.
And once we finally learned what moved him, the reason why he acted so hot and cold around Delia, I understood him so much better and I actually felt for him. I couldn't even begin to comprehend his grief and guilt.

As the story progressed and we got a glimpse into Joshua's past, it was easier to understand he wasn't exactly taking advantage of Delia and her unwavering devotion to him (well, maybe a little).
Just as Delia wasn't as weak and devoid of self-respect as I originally thought.
She was hopeful and believed in Joshua's ability to love. He did so much for his brothers, he cared so deeply for the ones around him, how couldn't he love her just as loyally?
He actually could. He did. And it was beautiful.

But life has a funny way of messing with us.
I said life? I meant to say Corinne Michaels.
Corinne Michaels has a way of messing with us.
She makes fall in love and in hope, she makes us have dreams and think about the future just to give us a hard dose of reality.
And I wouldn't have it any other way.

As you can always expect from this author, this story is well written and so emotional. It's funny, yet it touches some really hard and intense topics.
The characters are flawed and relatable and the friends and family she crates are marvelous (except for Joshua's father, I still despise that jerk).

So sit back and get ready to feel all the feels.
Don't you worry, though, they're worth it.

Let me just start by saying I have never read a book by Corinne Michaels that I didn’t love. A Moment For Us is no different. As with all her books this was such an emotional read. The tears that you will cry. So many emotions throughout the entire book. Delia has loved Joshua for so long. From the first time when she was 15 and he was a freshman in college her feelings have never wavered. Now they are stronger than ever, and she will take anything he is willing to offer just to have him. But Joshua makes it clear he is not looking for anything. He doesn’t want to hurt her. Unbeknownst to her he has had feelings for her for so long but never acted on them. He doesn’t deserve her. His past is holding him back from finding forever with her. Their chemistry is off the charts. The tears I cried for them throughout their journey to forever. But they are so worth every one. It broke my heart how he refused to open his heart and allow their love to grow. He had his reasons but if he let her in maybe she could help him.
This book is phenomenal. Full of emotions. A must read and so worth 5 stars.

Michaels once again took me on an emotional journey built with so many layers, and I couldn't help but to keep coming back for more. I mean she literally took my heart through a meat grinder on more than one occasion, and I KEPT COMING BACK FOR MORE! Why you ask? Because A Moment For Us is a beautifully written book, with HUGE doses of reality, that left me feeling alive because of ALL the emotions. It was a reminder that if you're feeling things, YOU ARE ALIVE even when it hurts.

A Moment For Us.
This title.
The way it was woven into the storyline.

I was living this story as I was reading. I was Delia, and at times I was the complex Josh. I lived and breathed these characters. Michaels made it so easy with the originality, depth and the development, but lets also not forget the complexity. She may have broken me, yes there were tears, okay more like a freaking puddle of tears, but she put me back together again. She glued the pieces of my heart back together enough to know some things are unforgettable, but enough to be able to heal and move on again. This story and these characters have left an imprint on my heart that will forever remain.

Usually, I prefer to give a more in-depth (spoiler free) book review, but this time I feel like less is more. I could say this, I could say that but I know no matter what I say, you would not only have a better understanding of these characters and their why's and how's, but you could enjoy this book on another level, going in blind will only make you value and appreciate Delia and Josh's story from beginning to end. Let's face it, you can only heal if you start at the beginning, and healing is how we move forward with the future.

**I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK

This is the third book in the Willow Creek Valley series. We finally get to read Joshua's story and what an emotional rollercoaster it was!! I absolutely love Delia and this book had all of the emotions: sadness, anger, humor, passion and happiness. I couldn't put it down, enjoying every moment even through the tears. The feelings were so strong and this was truly beautifully written. Highly recommend this amazing book and can't wait for the next book in the series!!

A Moment for Us by Corinne Michaels is LIVE!
Read Now: https://geni.us/AMFU

This book!!! So many feels!! Author, Corinne Michaels, knows how to bring the angst. A Moment for Us is book 3 of the Willow Creek Valley series. I was not fully prepared for the events that take place in this book but was in awe of how well Michaels handled them.
*Warning* Josh and Delia's story, for the most part, feels like a light read, until Michaels takes your heart, pulls it into your throat, and then basically rips it to shreds. Delia has been in love with Josh for most of her life, but Josh has kept her firmly in the sisterish/friend zone until suddenly that changes. The ups and downs that these two characters experience definitely makes their HEA all the sweeter and had me thanking Michaels for sharing their journey.

And the countdown is on, and we are less than a week away from Josh and Delia’s HEA in A Moment for Us by Corinne Michaels. You think you might be ready, but have your tissues handy. You are going to need them.

My heart! Once again, my heart has been completely DESTROYED by Corinne Michaels!!! I'm gonna say right here, right now, that if I EVER get the chance to meet her in person, I don't know whether I'll hug the sh*t out of her or smack her for putting my heart through all the DEVASTATING emotions she evokes with her writing (probably BOTH, to be honest!!!) A Moment for Us, Josh and Delia's heart wrenching and EXPLOSIVELY emotional story is no exception!

After catching glimpses of Josh and Delia in the previous books in the series, NOTHING can prepare you for the angst and emotion throughout this UNFORGETTABLE story of lost love, the discovery of just how strong the human heart truly is and the journey of two souls that are truly MEANT to be together! Josh and Delia are some of the strongest characters that Ms. Michaels has written and Josh just may be the most broken (and one of THE most frustrating!)...but that just makes the way everything comes together in the end THAT much more satisfying!

Corinne Michaels is an absolutely EVIL genius who COMPLETELY SHATTERS your heart and emotions, only to put it back together again in the most beautiful, heartmending ways! A Moment for Us is not just one of my TOP READS of 2021, it's one of my top reads from Corinne Michaels! And that's saying a LOT!!!

I can’t even put into words what a beautiful story this is. All the angst and beauty and love…. all the love just pours out from each page and you can’t put it down. Delia and Josh are the symbolism of love that they never thought they could have.

This family is truly perfect. I love each and every one of them. They bring life to a book when you need it. I can’t excited enough that this book needs to be read ASAP. I voluntarily reviewed this book from the author and I loved it. And that ending!!! Just get it now. You won’t regret it.

This book brings all the feels: happiness, angst, but most importantly love and healing. Corinne Michaels never fails to break you with her words, but also puts you back together again. A Moment for Us is a story full of ups and downs that you can’t help but wonder, maybe...
