This picks up right where the previous book ends. Lilah continues her hunt for the current serial killer with an unwanted assistant that may or may not be the killer. Her own internal struggles are ignited by the latest killing, showing us a side of her we rarely are given a peek at.

This is a fast read yet hits on all the issues that have been laid out from the first books and have yet to be resolved. Kane’s point of view at the end of the book, and the situation he finds himself in, leaves us with a whopping cliffhanger although this killer and the mystery surrounding him is wrapped up.

I rarely say this, but this series is one I wish could go on indefinitely. Lilah fucking Love-Mendez is a bad ass FBI profiler that there is never a dull moment. Lilah always gets her bad guy she just caught between the monster she knows and the one she believes she is. I'm always amazed how Lilah navigate her tough-as-nails personality, however something about one of killings makes her vulnerable and she don't like it. Especially when Jay her trusted bodyguard who she has become to depend on see her this way...Now she needs to close a case she don't have answers to before this horror murder finds his next victim which could very well be Agent Lolah Love-Mendez or the man that knows her like no other Kane Mendez her husband.

Kane & Lilah are always faced with so many challenges his cartel status, his uncle Miguel, Lilah father running for office, The society (Pocher) and Director Murphy ghosting her and lets not forget Junior. Will they ever get a break...Until the next Agent Lilah Love-Mendez

This one was a miss for me. The whole slasher movies theme is so cringe and was trying too hard to be relevant. And don't get me wrong I enjoy Scream franchise for what it is but let's not pretend it's some kind of masterpiece. And you want that influencing your story, really?
Oh, and what is with the bella thing? Kane always, always called Lilah beautiful, not bella. That was the case for all previous books. And now it's suddenly bella? What gives? It's not a natural progression at all. I feel like him calling her beautiful was such an integral part of their relationship that to change it now is somehow wrong and should not be allowed.

I'm ranting. I know I'm ranting. I think I need a break from the series, at least untill the #10 comes out so I can binge the next duet. It's gonna be hard though, that ending, oh man.....

This one really starts and ends in a big way. In the middle there is Lilah working her case, Kane playing games like he does, both of them kicking asses and having each other's back, with their loyal body guards along for the ride. With the 2 big surprises at the end of this one, the next book will be very interesting.

I rarely say this, but this series is one I wish could go on indefinitely. This is one of my favorite series to read and I'm never disappointed in the new books. There is so much that keeps this series fresh and the two main characters are one of my top favorite couples. Each book tackles a new serial killer which I attribute to the series staying fresh. I'm always fascinated with how Lilah investigates and her tough-as-nails personality is one of the best things I love about her. Add in the sexy Kane Mendez with how much he loves and protects Lilah, makes this couple in my top favorites. Keep them coming!

Full of suspense and intrigue, The Party Is Over is an amazing read. It is the conclusion to the Horror Murders Duet and the eighth book in the Lilah Love Series. Once again, Lilah and Kane face enemies from multiple angles.
There is never a dull moment in Likah’s life. Full of attitude, she continues to be the Lilah we have come to know. In my opinion, this book is more introspective than the other books in the series. We see more self analysis as she tries to figure out what her nightmares mean. Kane seems to know who she is better than she has ever realized.
Kane knows who he is and knows his enemies. He continues to be extremely protective of Lilah especially now that things are changing within the cartel. He uses his resources to their fullest potential.
Even though there is romance between Lilah and Kane, the name ficus is Lilah's career as a FBI profiler. Their romance plays an important part of the series but it’s not the main focus. The Lilah Love Series gets better with every book and The Party Is Over is no exception. I couldn’t put it down. One of my favorite series,

🅼🆈 🆁🅴🆅🅸🅴🆆:

Oh my... Another crazy ride that didn't let go of me till that very last page and then Boom!!🤯 That ending has me scrambling to pick up the next book like yesterday.

This one is the continuation of the case that Lilah gets roped in to solve from the previous book and in the middle of all that, Lilah is being unwillingly pulled into the political agenda of her father.

Let me tell you the start and the end of this book both will have you shocked and wide-eyed.

Lilah is doing her best to piece together the clues before the next incident happens and all she wants is to save lives before that.
Jack Cox, the forensics guy, might be helpful and wanting to follow her to the point that it seems he might be a bit obsessed with her and now Lilah feels her suspicions moving from one person to another like a pendulum.

But when another utterly 𝗀𝗋𝗎𝖾𝗌𝗈𝗆𝖾 unaliving happens, Lilah is on the fast pace to anyhow nab the culprit.

Her search leads her to a cafe that seems to be a common point between all the victims and she makes the cafe her- on and off temporary hangout to find out more. Although, the Whipped Cream coffees and curly fries definitely become a relief and added bonus to this hassle.

Kane is Kane, the ultimate King who bows down to no one but his queen and I loved seeing how Kane helps Lilah find her centre and also controls his 𝗄𝗂𝗅𝗅𝗂𝗇𝗀 urge to unalive his uncle after what he did and that is something that is unforgivable in Kane's eyes.

Somehow though, once again Lilah gets personally entangled in this case and the clues point strongly to the culprit intentionally taunting her.

I couldn't put this book down even for a sec. Like I actually marathon read this one. Freaking devoured it non-stop.

Kane and Lilah are definitely the "IT" couple for me. Ahh... I freaking love them.

Then THERE'S THAT ENDING. That second last chapter, a Shocking Twist had me like 𝗙𝗨𝗖𝗞kkkkk and then that last chapter... Another blasting secret and twist... double 𝗙𝗨𝗖𝗞ity 𝗙𝗨𝗖𝗞.... Oh my😱😱🤯

I seriously am glad the next book is already out, otherwise I don't know what I would've done. Ahh.. Can't wait to grab the next one. Absolutely loved loved this one. ♥️

4.25stars-THE PARTY IS OVER is the eighth instalment in Lisa Renee Jones’ contemporary, adult LILAH LOVE romantic suspense series focusing on foul-mouthed, aggressive, contentious and prickly FBI agent Lilah Love-Mendez, and her husband, businessman /Cartel heir Kane Mendez. THE PARTY IS OVER can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading book seven HAPPY DEATH DAY for back story and cohesion as the events of book seven directly affect the events of the current time line. If you have not read HAPPY DEATH DAY there may be spoilers in my review.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from first person perspective (Lilah), and a final chapter from Kane, THE PARTY IS OVER follows Lilah as she is called to investigate another murder reminiscent of horror movie scenarios labelled Horror Movie Copycats. The most recent murder mimics The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and a serial killer may be targeting the customers at a small coffee shop where Lilah gets her fix. As the violence and bloodshed increase, Lilah finds herself reliving a nightmare that almost cost our heroine her life. As Lilah continues to search through the blood for clues, her husband Kane Mendez heads to Mexico in an effort to stop another threat aimed at our story line heroine.

Meanwhile, Lilah’s father Grant Love’s run for office has made him a target of some very powerful people. As a member of the group known as The Society, the power behind Grant may no longer be under his control.

The secondary and supporting characters include Lilah’s bodyguard Jay, Kane’s bodyguard Kit; NYPD Chief Houston, FBI Directory Murphy ; Lilah’s brother Andrew, their father Grant Love; forensics techs Jack Cox, and Noah James, Lilah’s IT guru Jeff ‘TicTac’ Landers; Kane’s uncle Miguel.

THE PARTY IS OVER covers but twenty-four hours in the life; a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, love and acceptance, obsession and murder. The fast paced and thought-provoking premise is captivating and gripping; the characters are enterprising and energetic. THE PARTY IS OVER ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

The incomparable Lilah Love-Mendez is back and faced with new challenges (not stabbing people) and new revelations about herself. But, they are things that we knew and understood about her. No matter what she did in the past, she’s not a true murderer. She intelligent, beautiful, has a heart of gold, loves with her whole heart and is probably one of the best heroine’s I have ever read.

Filled with suspense and intrigue, The Party is Over will keep you on the edge of your seat wondering who the killer is, who’s next and what the connections are between all of them. From Leatherface to Scream, the killer keeps you guessing as who he will impersonate next. Old faces and new will come and go throughout the story. Jack was introduced in Happy Death Day and was really starting to get on my nerves but, in the end, he proved himself. He was also a bit of comedic relief in a story that was extremely stressful. But, Jay is definitely growing on me. He’s finally starting to hold his own against Lilah.

And then there was Kane battling his own demons, his ultimate love for Lilah and the fear that he faces (even though he won’t fully admit it) every time she is called to a scene. He has his ways of coping with it but, ultimately, he puts his faith in her and the love she has for him. Until it’s time to face what he’s been fighting for years and do what he’s said he was going to do. End it. So he does what he has to do only to find out that the end just maybe the beginning.

As for the ending of this book, wow, just wow. Jaw dropping and amazed don’t even describe how I felt at the end. Of course, our mistress of cliff hangers is going to keep us guessing as to where the next installment of the F*** off queen is going to go next. Things are changing and it’s going to get extremely interesting. Looking forward to Ghost Assassin? Most definitely – it can’t come out soon enough.

Sit back and enjoy a bit of intrigue, a lot of blood and a whole lot of love. The Party is Over will definitely hold your interest from start to finish especially if you are an arm-chair sleuth and love romantic suspense.

The eighth part of the "Lilah Love" series, "The Party Is Over", picks up exactly where the previous book's story ended. The FBI's reckless and sharp-tongued profiler, Lilah Love, continues to hunt a serial killer who brings horror-movie murders to life as if he's playing a game not only with Lilah, but with the uniformed force of the police.

After seven books, you might think we know all about Lilah's inner struggles, but Lisa Renee Jones once again proves there is always more to discover. The complexity of Lilah's character is once again fascinating, her fearless and determined character, her morally-grey-boundary-crossing decisions further shape her personality. Although Lilah is ready to kill without hesitation anyone who threatens her life, her inner struggles show how far she is from becoming the kind of cold-blooded killer she is trying to put behind bars as her job. These inner struggles are what make her not only human, but also deeply relatable.

Despite her recent marriage, Lilah has little time to enjoy her relationship with Kane, while facing new dangers and challenges. there are still plenty of unanswered questions that add to the suspense, as we have come to expect from the author.

What makes the book even more special is the chapter from Kane's point of view at the end of the story, which makes the reader even more eager for the next novel. Lisa Renee Jones once again masterfully balances suspense and in-depth character drama, making "The Party Is Over" another memorable installment in the "Lilah Love" series.

Just when I thought I had a handle on where this story was going, Lisa Renee Jones completely pulled the rug out from under me. I never saw that ending coming, and I finished the book stunned, asking myself the same question over and over: What is going to happen next!?

One of the most chilling elements of this installment is how the murders are all horror movie–themed. Each kill feels like a gruesome, cinematic callback to classic horror tropes, turning the investigation into a twisted guessing game. It adds a deeply unsettling, almost theatrical layer to the story and keeps the tension cranked up as you wait to see what “scene” the killer will recreate next.

The pacing is fast, the atmosphere is dark and claustrophobic, and the psychological mind games are just as intense as the physical danger. Secrets stack on top of lies, no one feels entirely trustworthy, and every interaction hums with threat.

What truly sets this book apart, though, is the ending. Lilah doesn’t kill the serial killer this time, and that choice changes everything. Instead of closure, we’re left with unfinished business, lingering dread, and the terrifying sense that the danger is far from over. It’s a bold narrative move that makes the ending hit even harder.

Four stars because while the ending is incredibly effective, it’s also a little cruel—but it absolutely does its job. If you love dark suspense, shocking twists, and stories that leave you reeling and desperate for the next book, The Party Is Over delivers in a big way.

Where to begin? I should be used to some of the gory murder scenes that Lilah processes, but the one in this book is in a class of its own, but I digress. Lilah is in her usual ‘charming’ self. Why she tortures Jay (her body guard courtesy of Kane) because he took a bullet for her one time beats me. Who doesn’t she malign? Andrew (her brother), Kit, her colleagues, even Kane. Except that Kane, just do what he has to do to love and protect her. Let me also say something about the love between these unlikely pair. It is deep and it is true.

So, there are like two, or even three tracks in this book. There’s the usual murder mysteries that Lilah has to solve. Then there’s Lilah’s dad imbroglio. His involvement in an evil society that might be connected with Lilah’s mom death and a whole lot more evil. Now Kane’s mafiaso connection is rearing its ugly head. Kane either has to take control, or not. Fun stuff.

There is no dull moment in this story. I was glued to it. The evidences and clues that were all over the place, coalesced and an arrest was made in all these killings from the previous book.

The ending? I’ll just say strap in! LRJ did not disappoint. You think the ending of the last book was a doozie? You’ve got another think coming. I won’t write more than that. Also there’s a short Kane’s POV here. We need more of our strong and silent ‘uninvolved’ Mafia king. (Or should we say ‘retired’?) Yeah right.

Lilah Love is 28 years old and an FBI profiler. Her dad is the mayor of East Hampton but wants to be the Governor. Her brother, Andrew, is the Chief of Police in the Hamptons. Lila dated Kane Mendez against her father’s wishes. One night, she was brutally attacked, and Kane saved her. After that night, she left the Hamptons and moved to Los Angeles. Now, Lilah is back in the Hamptons and married to Kane. She is part of a special FBI task force led by Director Murphy to take down the Society.

Kane Mendez is 32 and the CEO of Mendez Enterprises. His father was the leader of the cartel before he was killed. Kane was supposed to take over, but Kane wants to be in charge of the legitimate side of the business. His Uncle Miguel runs the cartel side. Kane is working on replacing his uncle with someone he trusts while not being directly in charge himself.

Lilah was busy tracking down the serial killer in the Horror Movie Killings while trying to keep her father and Kane’s uncle in line. Kane was worried about his uncle and keeping Lilah and her family safe.

These two have quite the history and a unique love. You can’t help but root for Lilah to find the killer while still trying to figure out how to take down the Society. I love that Kane is trying to juggle his legitimate business while keeping his uncle from destroying the cartel that his father built. Another exciting story especially the ending.

The Party Is Over by Lisa Renee Jones is the eighth book in the Lilah Love series. I have been waiting patiently for this book and it was definitely worth the wait. Full of intrigue, non-stop action, suspense, and blood, as well as twists and turns along the way.

So addictive! So captivating! Thrilling! Spine-tingling exhilarating! This book will keep you on the edge of your seat as Lilah Love-Mendez the famous FBI profiler does what she does best, reading a crime scene and hunting down a serial killer.

Get ready to read this one straight through because you will not want to put it down. I LOVE this series, it just keeps getting better, and better with each new serial killer. And the dynamic between Lilah and her husband Kane, is the lick-able icing on the cake!

You will not want to miss this revealing ending, when not only do you find out who is the serial killer, but someone else makes a surprise appearance!! I was totally taken by surprise!

Received an early copy and this is my honest review.

I really enjoyed this latest Lilah book. It picks up where book 7 left off. Lilah is face to face with Miguel, Kane's uncle and it doesn't look good. Soon after Miguel leaves with a warning. Lilah has been called to another crime scene and this one seems a little more puzzling than the other ones. Someone is making the murders look like scenes from horror movies. Lilah also has an admirer in the form of a new forensics tech who wants to be her assistant. We again meet all the characters from the previous books. Kane is even more protective of Lilah since his helicopter went down. It also seems he is the one to save Lilah's dad when attempt is made at a fundraiser. I love the fact that we get to understand more about Lilah and learn that she sometimes has triggers that take her back to where it all began for her when she was attacked. This story has you guessing to to the end as to who the killer is. The last chapter is told by Kane and what happens when he goes to confront his uncle. It is something you never see coming and what a cliffhanger that makes. Can not wait to read the next Lilah Love book.

This whole Lilah Love series is listed in the blurb, so seriously, you MUST read them in order because our FMC is Lilah Love, so it's her adventures with catching killers & romance with Kane. Plus, it's too good of a series to skip steps as she's evolving throughout along with Kane. I love me some Lilah Love (FBI Profiler) like crazy, as I'll keep saying this, she marches to the beat of her own drum, not to mention, she's super smart & bada** to boot. She'll go toe to toe with anyone as she investigates each serial killer, and this one is a doozie. She has some suspicions about who dun it this round, but is she right?! Like all previous books, the twists are coming in hot as she races against the clock before this person kills again. I stay on the edge of my seat with heart racing, laughing at her antics, and sighing at how protective Kane is towards her while letting her do her. You'll NEVER go wrong with Lisa Renee Jones so I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The Party is Over is one that you will not be able to put down. I loved this one so much. Lilah is in her element while holding in her inner Dexter when it comes to Kane's uncle. I love the way Lilah's mind works as she processes the crime scene and figures out who is behind all the killings. This one will suck you in and not let go and Lilah does her thing. Kane and Lilah just keep getting stronger and stronger together as forces try to tear them apart. Twist and turns as everything start to come out slowly in each book. I'm so in love with the Lilah Love series. I cannot wait for more to come in this series. If you haven't had a chance to pick any of the Lilah Love books yet do so and binge read them now. You must read them in series order. I could not get enough of this one. Go one click it now.

Oh my gosh! This starts up right after the last book and sucks you right in! I didn't put this book down! Lilah finds herself going after a mysterious killer. Jack a forensic scientist is dying to be her assistant. If you know Lilah at all she doesn't one. He is a persistent guy though.

She's trying to deal with her father (you know how that relationship is), Kane's uncle who is overstepping all kinds of boundaries all while trying to catch the killer. Plus she's got to work with her bodyguards.

I will admit I laughed quite a few times with Lilah's personal thoughts. I loved the way Kane is all alpha and growly with Lilah while showing how much he loves her. Kane has business to attend to while all this going down too. The end of this book made me slow blink while muttering to myself!!! You have to read this one!!

Lilah Love-Mendez is back!

In this offering of author Lisa Renee Jones 8th Lilah Love book we begin where 7 ended with Lilah in an alley with her brother and Kane's uncle Miguel demanding Lilah get into the car. You can guess that didn't happen but from there you can never make any assumptions.

Lilah is in search of a serial killer before he kills again; dealing with an idiot who wants to be her assistant (or is he the killer); her father, that she cares little for who wants to use her and Kane to get to be governor; Kane' uncle who wants Kane dead and if that isn't enough keep reading. There is always something more happening!

The Party Is Over will grab you with the first word - there is no escape until the last page and then you will be in shock. And waiting impatiently for the next Lilah Love release!

Well, I certainly didn’t see that coming. Another Lilah Love book full of mystery and suspense; from the first page to the last. She still tries to do things on her own, telling everyone around her to back off. But a few don’t listen and do as they want, anyway. Jack is the worst, but also wicked smart and a great asset to Lilah. Jay just wants to protect her. But Kane just wants to love her. And he does a fantastic job at it. He knows her. What she needs and what she doesn’t. I absolutely love Lilah. She is awesome! Smart, beautiful and a heck of a profiler. I can’t get enough of her. I had no idea what was going to happen. This book keeps you guessing, right to the end. And then the end kinda leaves us hanging. Most read all the Lilah books in order. They all start where the previous ends. So if you like, mystery, suspense and some romance this the series for you,

Wow! What a twisted web woven! Serial killer that kills based on horror flicks; Cartel no longer controlled; Kane and Lilah still reeling from almost losing each other for good. And not one but two mouth dropping cliffhangers! This page turner will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time! I for one cannot wait to start book 9 to find out what happens in this gripping series!

Each book in this fantastic page turner series has a murder that Special Agent Lilah Love-Mendez needs to solve. However there is an underlying mystery that continues throughout all the books and more clues are revealed. To fully appreciate these wonderful books, you must start at the beginning with the first book in the series, MURDER NOTES, and be prepared for a wild twisted ride! You’ll be glad you did!

The Party Is Over is absolutely riveting. Lisa Renee Jones has a habit of capturing and holding you attention with her well crafted stories. This was a cover to cover in one sitting reading. Ms Jones really upped the suspense and intigue in this book. Couple that with a jaw dropping last chapter and WOW just WOW!

The brutality of the serial killer's latest murder is dredges up pain from Lilah and Kane's past. Trying to keep the politician's at bay in order to pull what few lead threads they have is raising Lilah's ire. Keeping the details underwraps as long as possible works on several fronts not the least of which is stopping the city going into a panic. In the meantime Knae has his own problems to deal with as Miguel finally crossed the one line he shouldn't have.

Agent Lilah Love is back and this case is more weird than usual. But she is on the case and will find out who did it or die trying. While Lilah is trying to catch a killer, she has a technician that wants to be her assistant but he seems to know too much and she wants to put him in the who has done it category. There is so much going on in this series, it is not just one book, Lilah is chasing a killer, Kane is fending off his uncle, and that ending was something else.
So sit back and enjoy the ride with Lilah, Kane, and the people who are after them. This author has a way of keeping you pulled into the story and you will not want to put it down. I am ready for the next book, I have to know what happens next.

4.5⭐

FBI Agent Lilah Love is back and feeling very stabby!! Especially as her husbands Uncle Miguel the supposed head of the Cartel has just threatened her and her brother Andrew at gunpoint.

But that soon becomes the least of her problems. As the serial killer she's been hunting has struck again. This time using a chainsaw and leaving a dismembered body and a pool of blood for Lilah to wade through.

And with everyone from the mayor to the NYPD to her father the wannabe governor demanding answers. Lilah is very ready to kill again.

But with barely any evidence to go on and pressure mounting. This is not an easy case to solve.

And with a shock ending for both Lilah and Kane. The Party Is Over was a great read, and I genuinely can't wait to find out what's going to happen next.

This series is so good! I love Lila and Kane!! This is one of my favorite series to read, Agent Lilah Love is back and this case is super weird.
While Lilah is trying to catch a killer, she has a technician that wants to be her assistant, Jack, but he know's so much, he almost looks like the killer..
Kane's uncle is also crossing some lines, Lilah is on the hunt for another serial killer, and juggling her father and the Society..

The story ends with a surprising cliffhanger, ofcourse, so, enjoy this great story with Lilah and Kane!
you will not want to put it down. I am ready for the next book, I have to know what happens next!

Thank you Lisa, as always for this great book!
