Only royal fae blood can lift the king's curse on the alpha bloodline. And one fae is about to pay that price…

When Fae Princess Athroxane loses her father in a brutal battle, a blood curse makes her the biggest target of the wolf shifters…dead or alive.

Her only hope is a risky bet to bargain for her life: if she can win the duel against the Alpha, she’ll be set free. Except, she loses the battle, binding her to a promise to help lift the curse.

Problem is, the Fae Counsel forbids their kind from associating with wolf shifters, which means Athroxane is forced to chose whose trust she will betray: that of her leads, or that of wolf clan whose Alpha has already proven capable of ending her life.

As soon as I read the blurb I was intrigued and I ended up really enjoying this book.

This story is fast-paced and it felt like each part of the book was written to lead to the next part. The lack of filler kept my attention and I loved it.

This book presents a unique dynamic between two different creatures and the struggle between these two species. Roxie is caught in the middle of it all. She’s a strong- willed, fierce, and determined character.

I enjoyed the writing and I’m looking forward to the next book!

An amazing beginning to a new series. Roxie’s dad dies and she becomes the next Fae Queen. There’s danger all around. Once you start reading, there’s no turning back. Fabulous characters.

This is the first book I have read by the author and I will definitely be reading more to come, this is first book in the series annd it was full of action, a fast paced and addictive read, there is a cliffhanger but book 2 is available so that’s not so annoying that I have to wait, some of the fae information could be a bit confusing but that’s my only real criticism, I’m definitely going to continue with this series

For me, this book was a solid 3.5 stars, I really wish that option was available.

Pros:

The story is fast paced. There is no down time or fluff to fill time or space, everything done leads to the next step which keeps things interesting.

I enjoyed the political play of fae vs wolf and want to know more about the history through present to really understand the fears, biases and hatred.

The main female character while not powerful physically or magically seems to have a will of iron. She doesn’t easily back down once her mind and heart are set on something being right or necessary.

Cons:

Either I missed things in the scramble to see what happened next or things like why Roxie isn’t as strong magically are skimmed over or skipped. I’m hoping that is covered in the next book.

It feels like we have a classic childhood friends to love triangle situation happening which I am just tired of reading.

Cliffhanger! If you need a solid ending wait for the next book(s) before reading.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

so this book for me is a 3.5 star read!

I really enjoyed the way the Fae magic works, it is really interesting.

I will say the MFC Athroxane was not my favorite main lead hence the under four star rating. I felt like for someone who was raised by a king who did not baby her she sure did run a lot. The first time I understood, but where she ended up before Blake found her did not make sense to me, I could not understand why she chose that route. And I felt like she was randomly very cowardly. I am hoping to see growth in the second book and will be reading the second book because the cliff hanger got me!

I sat and was absorbed into this world. In one light, there seemed to be two wolf clans that were opposing each other but still on shaky ground against the Fae. The Fae saw themselves as superior and any thought of helping those wolves was grounds for prison or death.
When the king and his daughter return from a secret expedition, they find out a war has begun. But it’s not known why. So they run hell bent into the fray without thinking things through first, imo. So it’s no wonder things don’t go as the Fae planned.
When the Princess is told to run, she struggles but goes anyway. But she doesn’t run to those she thinks would save her. She ends up captive and becomes a thief only to be stolen by a wolf. Struggling with her feelings for said wolf, she attempts escape numerous occasions only to be thwarted by him.
She knows her father did something to the Alpha but she doesn’t know how to cure this Blood Curse. So the wolves take her on a quest to steal a book that contains the spell she needs. Only she’s captured again and treated as the Queen she is and taken back to the palace. When her adversaries try to imprison her, the wolves save the day.

I read this in one day but I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to the next installment!!

Roxie’s father is killed right at the beginning, putting the Royal fae bloodline at risk. I devoured this book in an afternoon. It was easy to get lost in and had a fast pace to it.

I especially enjoyed Roxie, although her being captured by an attractive wolf shifter didn’t hurt 😅 Roxie is so strong-willed, decisive and a risk-taker. She’s not afraid to make a hard choice if she believes in it. I really admired that and it kept the storyline interesting and driving forward.

If you love fae like I do and shifters, this is a fun book you can lose yourself in for a couple hours. I’m looking forward to whatever comes next!

Thank you @rrbooktours for the opportunity to read this book! The review expresses my own personal opinions.

The author does not know how to use a semicolon correctly and should probably just never attempt it. Or get an editor. I don’t care.

The names in this are so weird and offputting: King Trevor and Queen Sandra, and their daughter, Princess Athroxane “Roxie” Crawford. Their guards, Andreas Blackstorm and Vargo; the shifter alpha, Clifford Moon (who gives the name Clifford to a wolf shifter?! 😂 Is he a Big Red Dog in his shifted form? 😭).

The FMC is a princess/mage/artifact hunter who probably shouldn’t be doing the latter, as it involves going out to far-flung locales with only a pair of snarky guards and her father as company and that’s a fine way to get your royal line caught and held for ransom or murdered by bandits. Nor should they be personally riding through jungles, farms and fields simply to recall troops from a war that was started in the king’s absence and not on his orders. They should probably also read the correspondence that led to the commander sending troops into the fray before riding out.

But then again, who needs to know WHY things happened before running headfirst into conflict? It’s not like it’s the king’s JOB to know what’s going on in his kingdom! Being king is like being the main character in an RPG; you just do whatever you want and the whole world revolves around you!

After the tutorial on magic, movement and shooting a bow, and the opening cutscene in which the FMC’s father gets , the FMC can no longer go back home. See, in this universe, the king’s subjects are so disloyal that returning alive from a battle you lost is grounds for immediate execution, princess or not.

So with no guards, no horse, low health and an empty inventory, our FMC takes her first quest in the starter town. A rich-looking dude asks her what trinket he should buy from the scammy trinket seller, and she selects [Lie], but then fails an intimidation check with the trinket seller so she can’t extort him for having helped him out with the rich guy. He threatens her, then gives her a fetch quest and tells her where to pick up her starter gear. Turns out He sends her to his base, where the rules are simple: either you make a deal with the man or you’re never seen alive again. (It’s like reverse Genghis Khan. Instead of him coming to your house to kill/subjugate you, you go to his house to get killed/subjugated. Who would ever go there??)

Only our dumb FMC would go there, of course, where she immediately gets branded like an animal and tossed in a cell, where she meets her old cook from the castle, who mentions that she thought the princess was dead. How did news travel faster than FMC did? She literally slept 1 night inside a hollow log and immediately started walking. Everyone else at the battle should’ve been dead, so it should’ve taken days for the news to travel—also, why did this cook immediately switch jobs upon finding out the royals are dead? Is this a Nurse Jenny situation? Are there Cook Clarences at every medieval castle in this world?

Anyway, never mind that. The FMC is going to have to Here’s what she’s bringing:

I hovered over the wooden crate, inspecting my options and picked up the black soft leather that turned out to be a one piece suit. I changed into it, lacing it all the way to my chin and buckled on the holster straps around my legs, shoving into them as many knives as I could fit. Other than those, I planned to travel lightly; no sword or bow and arrow this time.

I think the author was imagining Catwoman but failed to realize that that suit is actually latex (keyword: stretchy!) not leather, and unless it’s been perfectly fitted to her body, it would probably look like a stiff and wrinkly mess on her. Have you ever seen a leather apron? I’m imagining that texture, but as a jumpsuit. She probably looks like those dudes in the rubber coveralls in that Ocean Spray commercial. ~*time for a heist*~

(Also she’s gotta be back by midnight or they’ll KILL her! Can she leave first thing in the morning then, so she has more time to stake out the place and come up with a plan? Also because she’s going on foot with no getaway driver? NO 😈 Villains don’t care about your schedule or the day/night cycle! You’ll go when we say so and not a minute later. Muahahaha!)

So, with very little time to get the artifact, FMC decides to go for the video game classic: Unfortunately her exit is blocked

Turns out those guys were and also they’re one step ahead of her. A running theme in this novel. She’s stopped by who captures her by merely standing politely in front of her and asking her to surrender all her knives and stick out her wrists to get tied up. I mean, she did get herself imprisoned earlier by walking unescorted into the unlocked prison of her own volition, so I guess this is kind of a theme with her. Very easily captured, this one.

So, Quest Item #1 gets tucked into storage for now, because we have a new quest giver and we kinda failed the timed quest anyway.

After a boring follow mission with some unfunny banter, the FMC is led to her new prisoner quarters.

- New Objective: Break out of the

She is next led to the prison’s continental breakfast bar, where she meets another NPC who is also a prisoner, but he’s apprehended just before he can share any useful information.

- New Objective: Find a way to speak to the prisoner.
- New Objective: Explore the castle and find another escape route.

She tries another harebrained method the same afternoon; instead of breaking out and climbing a fence, she is gonna walk past the main guards while her personal guards are still on her, wait for them to get complacent and then just run really, really fast to get away. This plan also fails when she runs directly into He offers his proposal: So he’s all like “TAKE HER TO HER ROOM” and she’s like “WAIT! I challenge you… to a DUEL!” And apparently that’s a rule, you can just walk up and challenge this guy and he’s gotta say yes.

So it’s pistols at dawn for our Weakling Queen, and now she’s really boned. She spends all day hacking at the furniture in her room, but doesn’t get enough EXP to level up, so defeats her anyway. Cut to black and now she’s waking up in a healer’s tent and she finds out but somehow she isn’t dead. (*flat, dead-eyed expression* I wonder what kind of magic a wolf shifter might use to keep his love interest alive when she’s about to die. It’s such a mystery.)

- Quest Failed: You failed to speak to the prisoner in time.
- Quest Failed: You were defeated by the
- New Objective: Steal the Magic Macguffin from the Fae Kingdom and use it to
- New Objective: Escape without being recognized.

The escape attempt immediately fails because Anyway, they drag the two of them off and leave FMC there, so she gathers her inventory and walks up to watch The FMC has healing powers, but she doesn’t use them on herself, and then afterward she just walks up to the MMC to talk about their Macguffin plan, and he promises not to let the same thing happen to her that just happened to How is he going to prevent that? 🤷🏻‍♀️ trust me bro.

So now, with daddy kinda mad at him for his part in this whole mess, MMC brings her to his next transgression, and FMC finally gets to meet with that prisoner from before who she failed to talk to. Instead of sharing that helpful information from before, the boys argue about whether she should with bloodshed or diplomacy. Seeing as the MMC just watched the FMC I think it’s understandable why he’s pushing for a friendly chat this time.

Meanwhile, FMC is coming up with a new plan to escape her jailer-rescuers: I can already see a problem with this plan, but amazingly it doesn’t go as you expect. Instead of getting sniffed out in two seconds by the guys, she gets kidnapped AGAIN Amazing. They should hand out medals for most kidnappings and blackouts in a single book.

Luckily this kidnapper is and she’s got a decision to make: send her armies off to war, or find the magic macguffin and These choices don’t seem mutually exclusive to me; she can want to But I guess I’m just a big dumb dummy for noticing this, because she has to CHOOSE.

After stealing the the FMC gets in her blood red Power Gown, practices her power poses and then heads off to meet with her advisors, who have been waiting all this time to act on the threat of war, even though they didn’t bother to do so last time (guess they learned their lesson). It doesn’t go well. now I thought that the FMC was just gonna use her to go all OFF WITH THEIR HEADS, but instead she’s somehow You know what the great prophet Taylor said… nothing good starts in a getaway car!

They head back to MMC’s place, where his dad is weirdly not happy to see them, even though technically they did everything that was asked of them. In a weird reversal, suddenly it’s FMC I guess MMC isn’t allowed to decline these things either, so here we go again, except this time, FMC has already softened him up for him.

The End.

Wait, what, I hear you say? How is that the end? Nothing got resolved and it ended right before the big confrontation? “Bah, whatever,” says this author, “I do what I want, and I say you buy book 2 in my series or you don’t get to see how my book ends. Toodles!”

What a great story to start a new series! I love the characters and the world building. After Roxie loses her dad, she becomes the Fae Queen and has to figure out who she can trust and were here loyalties lie. I really is an awesome read and well written. I enjoyed reading it. I can’t wait for the second book.

Not enjoyable

This was a struggle to read. I think my biggest problem with it was that it didn't get past the synopsis until well over halfway through the book. The first half, her dad dies, and then she proceeds to basically sell herself into the "employment" of this guy that she's simultaneously scared of, but willing to work because he "paid" her (with watery gruel and a prison cell). While on the job (stealing a holy relic and basically going against her religious beliefs), she's found and escorted by the heir to one of the wolf packs. Honestly, it just gets more confusing, as her actions demonstrate that she is REALLY not cut out for diplomacy. I am leaving out quite a few details to the storyline, but it just seemed to drag on with all her mistakes.

Yes, the action scenes were decent, but they do not make up for the confusing plot, the atrocious characterizations, or the cliffhanger ending. I will not be reading the sequel.

I went in expecting a lot after reading the blurb. But, somehow the book didn't go any further from the blurb. The plot felt weak and the characters didn't help in making it engaging.

The book starts with the Fae King out on a stroll(?) with his daughter and a few to protect them. When they return to the palace, they are told the regent got some summons and went out with an army. Nobody asked why he left with the army and in turn, basically launched a war against the wolf clan.

The king dies in the battle and now Princess Athroxane is homeless(?) I expected her to be the next Queen since it was repeated many times that she was her father's heir.

Then, she gets employed by a slaver, who she is terrified of. She meets Blake, son of the Alpha her father fought against when he died. He takes her to their city where she learns of the blood curse. She somehow ropes herself into fighting the Alpha.

She makes one dumb decision after the other and ends up inconveniencing everyone around her. She keeps trying to escape with no solid plan and doesn't seem to know what to do at any point in the story.

She is supposed to be the Fae Queen but her position was rather weak. They threw her out simply for making a decision. There were many unexplained parts which just led to more questions.

The one thing I enjoyed was the architecture of the Wolf clan's city and the way of the wolf-shifters.

I so much wanted to love this book. I loved the cover, I loved the tought about fae and wolf (my dream scene really).

BUT the heroine just annoyed the hell out of me!

The story would have been interesting even with some confusion on eye color, brest size and who is who and what to do with mugs?!

However I found Roxie childish, rude, sometimes trying to think she is queen then to run saving her life than idiotically challanging others. Easily selling herself to a smugglet but treating everyone who is nice to her horribly. Never thanking a servant for assisting or serving her.

At the beggining she seemed clumsy not able to shoot an arrow or faceplanting even her magic is weak. Than she marches around like a worldsaver calling wolfs dog while she was friends with them in her childhood.

Maybe I couldnt align as she was never described (how old, eye color etc) only her white hair.

Anyway. Unfortunately. Maybe because I wanted to so much love this was a disappointment for me.

While rooting to Blake I dont think I will coninue.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

But see my reading stages below:

Halfway through the book:
I found the beginning boring. It just couldn’t catch my attention. I couldn’t pinpoint why a lot of info about the east west whatever regions and we still don’t know a thing about the heroine.
At like quarter of the book we got that she wears black wig above her white hair. But not her age not her eyes.
Also she seems a bit clumsy first, failing in archery than falling flat on her face, everyone helps her as she struggles with her magic.
Then she turns to be a rude b!tch to the wolf boy (who we know its super handsome) who was nothing but normal to her. She also hates wolf but I do not understand why?
She may want to be seen as stubborn but I rather find the heroine rude and idiot. Like she is so judging and calling on names?! Especially that she confirms that they were friends with her father. So why the hate? Childish, rude and idiotic.
Also she was so hungry to agree on being a thief quickly (after 1 day) and getting a cell as her home but then being nicely treated by the wolf she is trying to get away and feels like a prisoner. Whut?
Honestly I find the main character very annoying so far.
The plot anyway is OK. I was always keen to have a fae – wolf combo. I finally got it. Not yet sure Im happy with it so far. Wolf boy OK but Fae princess…. I can’t even say a moment when I was not rolling my eyes of her behavior so far.

3Qarter done but I’m struggling
I still find the heroine outmost annoying her behavior overly judging without any real reason additionally being childish and imprudent. Inner thoughts are weak and not logical as well as the decisions she made. And for me she also doesn’t seem as “smart” but rather ungrateful.
One minute she doesn’t want to fail her fae people then in the other she runs away from all responsibilities.
However I still like the wolfs but they just cannot balance out the infuriating heroine. (and sometimes eye color is mixed once green after golden-brown then green again)
I’m trying to finish the book but its becoming more and more difficult. I hope I still can make it just to have a full scope but I’m sure if it’s a series I will not continue.

Almost at the end… finally
Still a lot of confusion. Jeraminne mug? Who is that. Than you read forward so you findout as previously I had no clue who is that. And what about that mug?
Kerri, who is flat chested in one page a couple of pages later she is getting information with her bulging boobs. Whut?

AHH. Finished.
Honestly I never ever hated a character that much as the heroine. She is NEVER thanking the servants anything. She is saying she is a queen but always wants to run away. She is ungrateful, childish and doing her hysterics and multiple time rude.
The only thing removed a bit my hatred when she saved that young wolf at the end. But still, even with that and the very intriguing world building, the handsome and kind wolfs and Im super rooting Blake I will not continue.
I loved the book cover and again this is my dream scene fae and wolf, but I just cannot bear Roxie. Maybe its my high expectations.

Wolf Curse ( Midnight Wolf Curse Series book 1 )
By T.M. Caruana, Therese Caruana

I received a complimentary copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.

When the fae commander leads troops into wolf shifter territory without the king's permission, the king is evidently outraged. The threat of war looms, and the king has no option but to locate the troops and protect his people; war with the wolf shifters is the last thing anyone wants.

In a tragic turn of events, the king is mortally wounded. His only child, his daughter Athroxane and the heir to the throne, witnesses his death. Left alone to mourn, her loyal guardians usher her from the battlefield, but in the confusion, she loses her protectors. With nowhere to run, she fears that the fae council will label her a deserter; she has no option but to scrounge her keep in any way she can. What follows is a thrilling adventure, surrounding both fae and wolves, but neither on her side. Can Athroxane discover a way to regain her reputation and her throne?

This is the first book in the Midnight Wolf Curse series and a thrilling start to this adventure. Fast-paced, the book’s concept and plotline are enticing, especially for a fantasy fan. The story moves along smoothly, with each event leading into the next. T.M. Caruana’s characters are well-developed, including the building of the protagonist’s development from uncertainty to assuredness.

I am a fan of this book, although it was not what I expected. Generally, Fae are portrayed as strong and magically adept creatures. It surprised me how the author depicted them; the magic they weave in hurting them is an interesting and novel concept. The part I found odd was Athroxane’s grieving, or lack of it, after the death of her father. Yes, she was initially upset, and I understand that the initial stage had to be deferred as she desperately needed shelter, but at no point did I witness a breaking down or the usual process of a person who has just witnessed the death of a loved one.

I also found it odd that after they ushered her from the battlefield and she finds herself suddenly alone, her first thought is “oh, I must now work for a living”. I understand she felt she could not return to her kingdom, as they would label her a deserter, running away from the battlefield. Even so, I felt her thought process missed stages.

Wolf Curse is a rollercoaster of a read; Athroxane experiences many events in such a short period, most of them not good, which leads to an exciting first book. If ending with a cliffhanger is a trigger for you, this may not be the book for you.
I recommend it for lovers of supernatural and paranormal fantasy.

🐺I’ve recently started reading books, including Fae. I don’t know why I never read it before Bookstagram. I was happy in my favorite genres and stayed there for the most part.

🐺Roxie is a princess who has a stubborn streak a mile wide. She goes for it, even in situations she knows are not likely to go her way. I like her feistiness, even though I think she makes some odd choices. Blake Moon, Skyland alpha heir and part-time wolf, seems to be a strikingly handsome man with a good sense of humor and wit, who carries a childhood crush on the princess.

🐺Wolf Curse is just the right amount of good and evil. Good wolves, evil wolves, secrets, the possibility of romance. It is all there. I couldn’t help but root for Roxie and Blake. Although fae and wolves don’t pair up, I think they should, especially since he’s had a crush on her since childhood. He often saves the day, rescuing Roxie, sometimes from herself.

🐺I look forward to reading the next book, Wolf Relic, to see where the story leads Roxie and Blake. My last tidbit is to check out both books' covers. They are stunningly beautiful.

Wolf Curse is a gripping, high-stakes paranormal romance that plunges readers into a world of cursed bloodlines, forbidden alliances, and slow-burn passion. Fae Princess Athroxane is a fierce and complex heroine, thrust into danger from the first page when a blood curse makes her the target of deadly wolf shifters. Her only path to survival? Defeating the Alpha in combat—a fight she loses, binding her fate to her enemies.

The book masterfully blends action and romance. Fans of Twilight will feel right at home with the inter-species tension and political stakes, while lovers of Beauty and the Beast will appreciate the enemies-to-allies arc and growing connection between Athroxane and the Alpha. The world-building is rich, and the pacing never lets up, keeping readers on the edge of their seat.

While the romance takes its time to develop (a true slow burn), the emotional payoff is worth it. The real conflict, though, lies in Athroxane’s loyalty—torn between her duty to the Fae Counsel and a growing bond with the wolf clan she’s meant to distrust.

Pros:
✔️ Strong, layered female lead
✔️ Intriguing world of magic, curses, and political strife
✔️ Tense action scenes and emotional stakes
✔️ Satisfying romantic tension

Cons:
➖ Some tropes feel familiar (for fans, this may be a plus)
➖ The Fae politics could have used a bit more depth

Overall, Wolf Curse is a thrilling start to what promises to be a dramatic, romance-fueled series. If you enjoy fantasy worlds where love and loyalty are put to the ultimate test, this is your next read.

A fantastic and super enjoyable read. Once I started reading, there was no going back. It’s a tale of Princess Athroxane; whose father (the Fae King) dies during a battle with the wolves and she becomes the next Queen of the Fairola Kingdom. But before her father dies, he puts a curse on the wolves and only Fae Queen can reverse it now that her father is dead. The Skyland Alpha’s heir; Blake Moon is secretly in love with the Fae Queen and he tries to protect her at all means. I hope Blake and Athroxane end the hatred between the wolves and the Fae kingdom. Their story is so adorable and I’d love to see it develop and evolve in the upcoming installments. There are so many cliffhangers in between and of course the book ends on a cliffhanger too; which is the best part of the author’s writing style. This book is an absolute page-turner and everything in it is flawless. The world-building, character development and storyline are just so perfect and outstanding! The strong main character of Fae Queen Athroxane portrays her strength and shows how fearlessly she fights all her battles alone with no one by her side. I love this book and I can not wait for the next installment. Super excited!

I want to first thank the author and R&R Book Tours for the free digital copy to read. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book sadly was not for me.

This follows Princess Athroxane or Roxie, whose father is king of the Fae and he’s suddenly killed. Because she’s always in disguise outside of home, no one knows who she really is without her disguise. She ends up being taken by Blake Moon prince of the wolves to his home because he needs her to break the blood curse that her father put on his family.

So, some of the positives about this book are the cover is gorgeous, and the writing to me is actually well written, it’s just the execution and the pacing of the story was kind of all over the place.

What I didn’t enjoy about the story is mainly the female main character and the pacing of the story. There’s really no explanation about the history of this world. Like I don’t understand why there’s a war between the fee and the wolves. And Roxie gets taken from the Fae kingdom to the wolf kingdom to the Fae kingdom to the wolf Kingdom, without really any explanation why that keeps happening. Roxie was very frustrating. Her father clearly did not treat her like princess, he made sure that she was tough and could handle difficult situations, but every time she was in a difficult situation, she just wanted to run away and that makes no sense seeing as she seems to be a strong person, but she isn’t? She also would make promises to help, but then the next moment she’s trying to figure out how to get out of her promise and to run away. She was just very wishy-washy. This is also supposed to be inspired by Beauty and the Beast, and the only thing that seem to link it to that fairytale is the curse.

This book just was not for me, that doesn’t mean others will not enjoy this book. I do recommend it if you enjoy a books with Fae and wolf shifters.

I wasn't sure about the book as I started to read it. I felt like it was missing some details I thought I needed. Come to find out, I didn't need them and I finished the book quickly and went on to 1-click the next one.
Athroxane watched her father, the Fae King, killed at a wolf compound. Frightened, she runs but knows she needs to get back to her kingdom as the heir. Along the way she seems to run into so many roadblocks but always seems to get out of them. As she reaches her kingdom, she has found that she is not as welcome as she expected the interim new ruler wants her gone. Her best friend Blake, a wolf, comes to help her find the justice for her father and her kingdom. Wolf and Fae are not supposed to be together, but Roxie plans to change that thinking.
The story does move fast. Take the time to read to keep up with all the characters that support Roxie. If you are like me, I had to have the next one quickly. Thank you T.M. Caruana for a fun Fae journey.

When Fae Princess Athroxanne loses her father in a brutal battle, a blood curse makes her the biggest target of the wolf shifters…dead or alive.
Her only hope is a risky bet to bargain for her life: if she can win the duel against the Alpha, she’ll be set free. Except, she loses the battle, binding her to a promise to help lift the curse.
Problem is, the Fae Council forbids their kind from associating with wolf shifters, which means Athroxanne if forced to chose who’s trust she will betray: that of her leads, or that of wolf clan who’s Alpha has already proven capable of ending her life.
If you like the battles of races of Twilight and the slow burn romance of Beauty and the Beast, then this series is for you!
An excellent book that ends i a cliff hanger ,but do not let that stop you as it is a really good read.
Action ,great characters ,great story everything and more that you would want in a story.

I received this book fin advance for free and am leaving the review voluntarily.

I enjoyed this book for the most part. It was well written with fair descriptions of the characters and surroundings. I was confused a couple of times with the narrative. I felt that a background of the character type would have been helpful and I found where the main female character went after the first battle was confusing because of this. If a background had been included this confusion could have been avoided. Maybe a map would also be beneficial. The main female character was a little wishy-washy. This could be because of her age but I'm not sure what it was as it wasn't mentioned.

Despite this I will read the next book as I dislike cliffhangers. I'm too impatient as I usually get all books in a series if they end in one.

I love the cover and the synopsis sounded so good but sadly this one wasn't for me.

I felt Roxie was wishy-washy. She says she grew up training with weapons and she loves it! But the opening battle she shoots at a jungle cat that's not moving and misses. Then she trips and falls off the temple ledge rolling an ankle. So you're supposed to believe she's all tough and badda$$ but she's constantly running from conflict and flailing around. It just kept bouncing back and forth so it was hard to like her as the FMC.

Blake is a gorgeous wolf shifter and I enjoyed his character. I wish there was a little more into the whole political fae vs wolf aspect. It's all kinda vague but definite on "We all hate each other.". I would've like to see more world building and backstory so I wasn't so confused.

It's fast paced and has a cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers.

Roxie and Blake's story is filled with disloyalty, betrayal, hatred, misconstrued notions of wolves and fae, slight feelings of affection and protection. The book is full of misguided understanding of wolves, most fae believe they are just mindless creatures. Also, wolves believe that the far are ruthless rulers and want to own or enslave them. The growing affection between Blake and Roxie was very refreshing to read. Roxie's relationship with her chambermaid, Kitty, was a great interaction between the characters. I was not a fan of the cliffhanger but I understand it's purpose. I cannot wait for the next installment of this series. Great book for paranormal lovers.

Athroxane or Roxie is the fae princess until her father is killed and she runs away from the battle. She is kidnapped by Blake, heir to the Blood Moon wolf pack, she finds that he wishes a favor from her. She discovers that, Scratch, the heir to the Skyland pack has also been kidnapped. Blake and Scratch are childhood friends and will do anything to help Roxie become the queen of the fae. Throughout the stay at the Blood Moon castle you feel the tension between Blake and his father and the attraction that is growing between Roxie and Blake. This story stops with a cliff hanger and leaves you wanting to read the next book. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Overall this is a great start to a good series. I’ve never seen magic explained like it is in this book, so I’m excited to see more about it in the future. I wish there was more use of it with Roxie, but I understand she is still learning. One of the things I did not like was how immature Roxie was, but I’m hoping as the series goes on she will grow into a bada$$. I’m curious to see where things lead to with Scratch and Blake as well. I’m hoping this series will be a MFM, but I guess we’ll see where it leads. This book definitely ends on a cliffhanger, but it’s not as bad as I expected it to be! I’m really looking forward to reading the next book and seeing what happens next.

Wolf Curse is an adventure story with a love twist and political intrigue set in a fantasy realm. There’s lots to love about the book - an interesting heroine, a corrupt system and the threat of baboons! There are also some bots that don’t quite seem to fit as neatly into the world that the author weaves.

During the first third of the book there were decisions our Fae princess made that just didn’t seem logical to me. They jarred with what I knew of her character so far and threw me out of the narrative. The last two thirds of the book felt much more convincing in terms of character and narrative arc. I’m glad I stuck with it and I’m looking forward to reading the next instalment.

First, let me say that the premise of the story is a great one. The book has everything one could want. Fae, wolf shifter, magic, budding romance and lots of twists and turns.

However… it feels very rushed at times and the mc is all over the place and leaves me wondering if she’s a young teen still searching for who she is.

I hope she finds herself and stops jumping between being totally ludicrous and acting like an heir raised to lead her people. Maybe the romance will develop and help her come into her own.

Looking forward to the story unfolding, more world building and seeing where the fates will lead her.

I enjoyed the storyline as it is unique and intriguing. However, I have a really hard time with Roxie. She has these qualities that make her seem so strong and powerful but throughout the story all you seem to see is her running away. Towards the end she seems to be growing and getting a little stronger but I still have a harder time connecting with her. I loved Blake and his personality. The ending of this one is surprising and I really hope we see more of him in the second book. It is extremely well written and I am curious to how it is going to proceed. . Athroxane was a Fae Princess, she and her father were out of their kingdom for collecting valuable artefacts.
When they arrived in their kingdom they received very shocking news and they take off from their kingdom to wolf territory and realised there is a war going on between wolfs and faes.
During the war, she lost her father and now she was alone in the world and there was no one to rely on.
She had to live and she was afraid, alone and terrified.
In every turn, there were new challenges, a new terror.
And now she has to pay the price and she was the only one who can lift the curse in the alpha bloodline and the alpha who wants to kill her.

In this book, there were lots of mysteries, challenges, amazing and powerful characters...

Wolf shifter book.. yes please

I do love a shifter book… I won’t lie, the Fae parts confused me, and there’s no real reason these two races are fighting, but under my confusion, is a story about a Fae princess/Queen who knows and was once friendly with a Wolf shifter Blake, who reappears in her life once again, after her father dies, and she appears exiled and fighting for her life.
I should warn you that this book ends with a lovely little cliffhanger, and book 2 isn’t out til July, but I will definitely be reading once it’s out.. I need to know what happens between these two :)
