Sometimes what you want most is what you left behind…
After her cousin disappeared without a trace, Christina Wade left rural Vermont behind. Nearly a decade later she inherits the family’s historic inn that should have gone to the missing girl. Compelled to return to the place she intended to forget, she must decide whether to sell or run the family business. An old love lures her to stay as they rekindle their relationship, and she finds herself falling in love again with handsome Kevin McKinley, a conservationist who wants to share his love for the rural setting with her.
Family members challenge her plans as she uncovers their unsavory business practices and the tip of potentially larger crime connections. A series of accidents leads her to suspect that someone wanted her family dead and may have killed the aunt who left the inn to her.
Danger arises when they discover what happened to the missing girl all those years ago. There is a killer in the little town, and he wants what Christina has. He’s killed to get what he wanted before, it's likely he'll do it again.
I really enjoyed this book, it was fast paced BUT there was no “who done it “ ? You knew from the beginning the who but the storyline of the characters and their growth through the book is what keeps ya turning the pages . I would recommend it just for that and I am going to read the next book in the series !!
Romance trope: second chance; romantic suspense Series: Stone House Inn Length: 286 pages
Plot: After the disappearance of her cousin, Christine leaves town, even though leaving her boyfriend Kevin behind hurts them both. After a few years in the city, she comes back home to take care of her aunt's estate. Kevin is still there and her heart still leaps at the sight of him. He has never forgotten her either. But someone is not okay with Christine inheriting Stone House and they are quick to let her know through harassment and sketchy business practices. She is in danger, even if she doesn't know it, and the unsolved mystery of her cousin will come to the forefront.
Commentary: I did enjoy the mystery in this one, although it wasn't too difficult to figure out. I thought the dialogue was sometimes a little clunky, but overall I liked watching the characters rekindle their love. The supporting characters were interesting as well.
Ada’s daughter Annie has gone missing when she was a teenager; hence her niece, Christina, is the sole beneficiary of her family’s historic inn when she passes away. However, shortly after Christina inherits the estate, some dreadful incidents keep happening to her that put her in jeopardy! DEADLY INHERITANCE is Book 1 of Stone House Inn series by Jeulia Hesse, and it’s a suspenseful mystery thriller for a beach read.
Many characters and twists and turns. Exciting and sometimes scarey. Liked the ambitious young women. Loved that the plot revolved around the old inn and Forrest and mountains. I’m going to read the next book.
Such a cool story! Sad but so glad most is good in the end. Wonder if Gina gets her man? Wording is excellent, descriptions are good so it is like you are there!
The explicit sex makes this book inappropriate for younger readers for whom it would otherwise be appropriate. I found way, way too many errors. Not as much character development as I prefer.
This book had slot of my favorite things like mystery and romance but I’ll say it was a little scattered and jumpy in places. Great premise and good adventure but could use a good editor.
I didn't really enjoy this book. It was hard to pick up. The plot was very obvious. I am also not a big mystery fan, so this could be a part of the problem. I was not into it, and it was so hard to enjoy. I am sure someone else would like it, but I am not a fan.
Overall a good mystery read. Some tense changes within paragraphs and the ending is a bit rushed, but one of the best stuff your kindle books I've read so far.
