Millie is the owner of a bakery shop but when her rent goes up, she becomes angry and wants to confront the owner. She discovers the owner is a mob boss and she is the only one willing to stand up to him. What will happen when sparks fly between them when they meet? Fast-paced read with intense chemistry, drama and emotion. Sizzling scenes and an entertaining story. I liked it.

This book 🤦🏽♀️ haha. I’m at a loss as to why the ratings are so high.
I’m pretty generous with ratings and allowances but this was truly awful. It felt like someone’s first time writing a book. There was no development, substance or detail. The only thing il give this author is they have talent when describing the sex scenes. If only that quality carried through.

Buckle up this is a wild ride, dangerous men, alpha personified, possessive, oh, so gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a deliciously dark story . There will be betrayal, danger, revenge, suspense, violence and so much more. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with!
By the time you’ve figured out who is who and what is what, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter!

They say it is a thin line between love and hate and sometimes they get blurred into one line. Millie life hasn’t been easy, she gave up everything to become a care taker of her sisters/brothers, but have so many struggles she owns her own bakery bakes sweets that bring a smile to others but it is costing her because the rent seems to keep going up forcing her out because she won’t be able to afford if it keeps going up and she can’t allow that to happen considering she is taking care of her sister/brothers so she thinks she is doing a good thing or trying to accomplish the rent from raising. But the other shop owners aren’t really on board because the men who collect the rent a little scary. Viktor sexy as all get out Russian mob boss finds out about the meeting Millie was having to try and stop the rise of the rent when of course he sends someone to sit in after introducing himself and this little women with so much personality without fear asks him about the rent going up and what he is going to do about it (put simply ) so when he informs the owner Viktor see this feisty women he knows she is fit to be his but to convince her already upset about the rise of the rent, having to take care of her family, things she have had to do just to keep food on the table he wanted nothing more than to teach her but emotions weren’t on the menu yet they are feeling them where will it lead, especially with a baby she doesn’t want him to find out about but of course he knows all and will it all lead to HEA?

A wonderful read, thoroughly enjoyed and read in one sitting
I loved the story and as always, the author Bella King wrote the story in such a manner that once I began reading, I simply could not put it down until the end and I had discovered the outcome, I assure you that I will not spoil the book by giving away any vital information.
Millie was a hard-working young woman who had built up her own bakery, she was very proud and had good reason to be so when she realises that the continual hikes in rent are going to force her out of business she has to come up with a dramatic plan.
She confronts Viktor who is a man with a reputation and she finds herself attracted to him so the agreement they make initially is fine, however as their relationship becomes more passionate and then she discovers she is pregnant she knows that she has a new priority and will protect the growing life from any threat, she will not lose her baby.
Viktor had not anticipated his feelings towards the hard-working Millie and as their passion grows and soon her waistline, he realises that he wants much more from their liaisons, and a lot more of Millie and her baby who he wants to make his own if he can find her?
This is a wonderful read I assure you that you will enjoy every page of this wonderful book.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

Not the Mob Boss you are hoping for
This was not at all what I was expecting it to be. Right out of the gate, you get the sense that Viktor is going to be a tough, exacting Bratva Don. That is not the case. I found him to be more of a waffling character, which was definitely sad considering the first couple of chapters.
Millie is a good, strong character, but there is really no growth in her. Which I would have hoped to see; instead, it was more like she regressed.
It is a sweet tale, but it wasn't really given the details that it should have to become really good. There are a lot of small mistakes with time-line; some chapters are unnecessary and don't fit with the theme of the book (bdsm chapter as an example).
If you are looking for a strong handed alpha Don navigating through the Bratva underworld, this is not the book for you.

This concerns the AUDIOBOOK ONLY!!
Oh my sweet Lord?! What is the male narrator trying to sound like? His accent is supposed to be Russian but he sounds like a growling and slithering alien creature. He’s decided to F up his pronunciation completely and put the emphasis on the wrong syllable and constantly adds a weird twist of a Muslim style Arab accent mashed up with something very German but with French rolling R:s?! Oh now he all of a sudden sounds Indian or Pakistani, in some sort of pigeon English. I’m completely shocked someone actually payed for this shit show of an audiobook.
DNF this is just absolutely cringe worthy.

No…just NO! I love a good mafia book….I really do and am always hunting for new ones to read….but this book….no. NO. This is a joke!
This book is written so badly. It’s like a 14yo teenybopper wrote this. There are so many and very long internal monologues! I’m only on page 29 and I can’t read this anymore.
The MMC is a badass who proclaims he’s a badass because he raised rent prices and is 6’6 hot Russian. He reminds me of the typical high school jocks with attitude and entitlement issues.
FMC is like maybe 20…? She dropped out of school to take care of her family then started stripping then left stripping behind because she wanted to do something with herself and her life. I’m all for that! More power to her, but the way it’s all written as in the writing style is sooooooo horrible. She still acts like a “blonde” (no disrespect meant to anyone but I can’t figure out how else to describe her). She gets a weird power trip from getting a bunch of the strip business owners together (who are all women let me just say) and wants to fight the owner for raising rent prices.
When the owner shows up at her bakery he pulls the fire alarm to get everyone out and makes her beg him to punish her and then he’ll lower the rent prices. And she does this. Then I stopped reading.

Overall, this was an easy read. Picked it up and just slipped into the story and floated away with it.
Saying that though, I had to keep reminding myself this was mob book. I did like Viktor and his love for Millie. He was a killer and did what he had to do but then how he was his 2nd in command and allow him talk about his women was just so against everything I have previously read about a Mob boss and it just didnt sit right with me. The further book went the more I wanted to kick Viktor and say what the hell man... lol
I try really hard not too get to stuck on things when ready a book until it becomes annoying. Millie moving in with Viktor and then not telling him about her secret...? The amount of time they had relations, surely her changing body should have stood out to both Viktor and Millie...? This is Viktor and Milie's steamy story about how Millie has worked really hard to make the small bakery that she owns successful. That's why it's so upsetting to her that the new landlord keeps increasing her rent. She organizes the other shop owners to take on their new landlord but when they found out that he's a mob boss no one wanted to be in charge so Millie decided to be. Viktor hears that one of his tenants is causing trouble so he decides to go check it out and when he sees Millie he's captivated by her. Millie confronts Viktor about the rent hikes impressing Viktor since people are usually afraid to confront him. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this steamy story to see what happens. I recommend reading this book.

She organizes the other tenants to confront the landlord. Viktor, the landlord, shows up the next day and he's intrigued that Millie stands up to him and he's interested in her. Viktor is the new landlord, and also a mob boss, who's a strong alpha male and Millie likes that about him. Millie is strong and independent and isn't afraid to do what needs to be done even though he is a mob boss. They have a steamy passion for each other that just gets stronger. Is there a future for her and Viktor? What's she going to do when she ends up pregnant? Find out what happens between these two characters.

There are some elements that not everyone likes but I do and Bella King writes a great story. Millie is strong and she knows what she needs to do and will do it. Viktor is a mob boss but he is really a great guy. I could not put this down. The story flowed and the characters were great and their interaction was wonderful. They had chemistry and it came off the pages, there is a fine line between love and hate and I think these two crossed it.

She organizes all the tenants to let the landlord know this is not acceptable. Her landlord shows up are her bakery the next day, Viktor likes how she stands up to him. He is intrigued by her as well as very interested. He makes her a bargain to reduce the rent, will she take it?
Things get very steamy with Millie and Viktor, he is very much in charge. There is lots of drama and danger, with outside forces trying to drive a wedge between them.

Millie had a meeting with the other shopkeepers in order to discuss the rent hike. When Viktor went to talk to the young lady he liked what he saw and she didn’t back down which he admired. To lower the tenants rent, he wanted to spank her which led to sex. Great story!

sweet and easy read
No angst and little drama, just a sweet romance two people who could do with a ‘someone’ in their corner even though they don’t consciously realise it. An encounter becomes more and becomes more again and I just find it so cute that the MMC instinctually acted on his affection in a no nonsense way and at times seemed bewildered that everyone around him wasn’t caught up.
Love me an alpha character but even better this one is not an a******. An easy read when you want something short to escape real life responsibilities!

It was ok. I agree with another review that said it was good until it wasn’t. If you are expecting a Mafia type morally gray darkish romance. This is not it. The mml seemed very out of character for this great Mafia leader. More cinnamon roll than this bad a** character. I also had a few issues with what seems like time frame inconsistency that unfortunately took me out of the book. It had potential but for me did not live up to what I expected from a mafia book.

Not feeling it
Millie, was a strong character she had backbone and worked hard. Viktor was most definitely one of the weakest mob bosses I’ve come across. At best Viktor was a mediocre beta. Millie was more alpha then Viktor. There was so much opportunity for plot and character development it just never happened.

**Spoilers.**I enjoyed this story even though there were some bad discrepancies. I can’t believe ms king has ever been pregnant based some of her timelines. Also the book implies that Millie did NO prenatal doctor visits until late in her pregnancy. Finally there were some typos that didn’t distract from the reading.

This is a pretty standard Bella King book.
She does crazy characters well.
The baker wanted to make something better for herself.
He wanted to help her out after she demanded he stop raising her rent rates.
And then he wanted more.
But naturally twist after twist happens.
Read the book to the last page and it's worth it.

Great read
This was a great read only reason I rated 4 stats is because I in the beginning the story had a problem with first playing hard to get to rushing to things that then again it rushed through the end other than that Viktor sounded super sexy and by far was the best character in the book can't wait to read more

Story is good
I was very hooked but then I felt like the story was being rushed , and things really didn't add much with her pregnancy, from days moving in to months & sonogram , usually don't by month 5 , is this guy an idiot , like I say they story is awesome, its just needs to be revised carefully , because when I saw that I started to fast toward pages .

Let me be honest but this was kinda mid for me. It was supposed to be more alpha based but he was a little too soft for me and I love me some dark romance and sometimes I might not like how alpha based a male character could be but it was too sweet as a character. It was majority smut rather than any story because I didn’t learn much about him, just mostly her trauma.

I love the plot and the characters. The love has a spark that is easy to go googoo over. It's sweet and exciting and fun.
The only draw backs were that the writing style is still very... New feeling. Almost like this is the authors first or second book ever done. &Some scenes feel inauthentic.

First 3 chapters was going well. She's self made especially from the past experiences in her life. She's standing up for fellow shop owners regarding rent. Nice and strong. Until she only spoke 2 sentences with the owner and She's getting spank and on the counter. He started nicely and went to hear the concerns but then once he uttered the solution I didn't care for him.

3.5 ✨ for me, I do love a bratva book. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and if you’re into mafia and looking for an easy read with an obsessed MMC, I think you’ll like this.
It didn’t hit all the marks for me but sometimes we’re looking for an easy read rather than the intensity of the best book ever written.
I loved the tropes and was an enjoyable read.

A great read
I enjoyed this book - it was a bit of a grower but ultimately I enjoyed it. Generally well written and I liked the characters.
