David L. Hudson Jr. is a scholar at the First Amendment Center. Hudson writes for firstamendmentcenter.org and for other publications devoted to First Amendment issues. He is the author or co-author of more than 30 books, including several on the U.S. Supreme Court, the Constitution and student rights.

He is a First Amendment contributing editor for the American Bar Association’s Preview of United States Supreme Court Cases. Hudson graduated from Duke University in 1990 and obtained a law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School in 1994. He teaches First Amendment classes at Nashville School of Law and Vanderbilt University Law School. He also teaches at Middle Tennessee State University.

Wow. It's not like I needed this course to know that our Congress, and yes, even our Supreme Court, has been shitting on the Constitution. Now I have no doubt. It's interesting that this audiobook was published in December 2019 and did not mention the blatant violations of the 1st amendment that were going on at the time. Sadly, more of our rights will be violated in the future.

More of a lecture series than a book. A good overview of the American Constitution but I would like more detail into to what the Framers were thinking when they wrote the Constitution. It wasn't bad, just not what I was looking for. Probably why it took me so long to get through the book.

Overall just a very solid introduction to American political history and structure of government. I wouldn’t say it’s like some out of this world read or anything but it does its job very well : )

I'd say I'm a combination learner, but mostly a visual one. Some topics I do fine absorbing audibly, but this is apparently not one of them. And it's not because the subject matter isn't interesting and also extremely important. But, for me personally, this would have been better as a written book and not just an audiobook.
