I am sixteen years old, and my teacher believes I might be the most powerful supernatural in the mortal realm.

It’s quite a burden.

Not least because I must fight so hard to avoid using magic to silence the bitches at school.

Do you wonder what would happen if I let my control slip?

Today is the day I find out.

Let's start this off with an invitation to get some FREE books. No, you didn't read that wrong, we are talking about multiple free books. I love giving away free books because once people delve into the fast-paced mystery thrills I write, they go on to buy lots more.

All I need from you is an email address to send them to. Here's the link you need - https://mailchi.mp/fd47a6eb4ae5/patri...

When I wrote my first novel, Paranormal Nonsense, I was a Captain in the British Army. I would love to pretend that I had one of those careers that has to be redacted and in general denied by the government and that I have had to change my name and continually move about because I am still on the watch list in several countries. In truth though, I started out as a mechanic. Not like Jason Statham, sneaking about as a contract killer, more like one of those greasy gits that charge you a fortune and keep your car for a week when all you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.

At school, I was mostly disinterested in every subject except creative writing, for which, at age ten, I won my first award. However, calling it my first award suggests that there have been more, which there have not. Accolades may come but, in the meantime, I am having a ball writing mystery stories and crime thrillers and will claim to have more than a hundred books forming an unruly queue in my head as they clamor to get out.

Now retired from the military, I live in the south-east corner of England with a pair of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, I doubt I will ever leave, the beer is just too good.

Hellfire Hellion is a pleasure to read, a teenager with special powers is bullied and she tries really hard not to show her superpowers but she just couldn't... and then all the bad things happen! Steve Higgs describes scenes of power action with great care and detail and I wish I could see them on TV! She is as good as any superhero, and yet she has lots to grow. It'll be most interesting to read about this character in the next books in the series.
As a member of the author's ARC team, I received a free copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.

Wow. Forgot this was coming out so this was a great surprise. This is a short story about Katja who was introduced in book one. Her talents have grown.

This story see how she’s coping with life after having demons in her house and being kidnapped.

There’s two themes to this story. First how people are dealing with supernaturals Second Katja’s magical skills which are explosive.

Can’t wait for Top Dog now.

Action, action and more action. Whether fighting demons or shilt, it’s going to be a heck of a fight. if you have magic, if you’re supernatural, then the demons want you and the townspeople don’t. What’s a girl to do?

This was non-stop action, a really unable to put down book. I didn’t want the story to end. Steve Higgs does some of the best world-building out there. It’s easy to see the story in your mind. I can’t wait to see the next book.

This is a short story about a character from the first False Gods book, a high school student. She's a supernatural with a lot of potential. I liked her a lot; I'd like to see more of her in this series. Non-stop action with a partial exploration of the problems a teenager would have if magic were real and not everyone could use it. Regular humans would fear those who could and treat them differently. Sensitive handling and well written. Recommended.

Packed with Magic!

I loved this book. It is action packed from start to finish as every short story should be. Poor Katja. As if battling demons & shilt isn't bad enough, Katja Weber is being bullied by her peers at school because of her supernatural ability and ostracized from her schoolmates. As the battle rages against creatures she can't even hope to beat, she grows in magical strength and realizes the importance of her future in the inevitable battle for earth.

Paranormal, or whatever the genre is for this, isn’t what I regularly read. However, I’m a Steve Higgs fan so when given the opportunity, I read this. Enjoyable and fast-paced though not my favorite (see the genre comment). I would read another. With time I might even like the genre.

I received an arc copy of the book in return for an honest review.

Snippet of the Realm of False Gods.

Here we get life after Otto, and how Katja is coping being a Supernatural.

Coping is a tough word.

Her BFF is now her number HATER!

Supernatural's are keeping out of the way since Otto rescued them and fighting ensued.

Katja is waiting to go to America, but life isn't good, then a portal opens and it gets worse.

Great short story, very exciting battle and an interesting ending. If you haven’t read any of the other stories there is no context, so it won’t make a lot of sense, but it fills in a niche in the story. Greaot short read

A good introduction to the realm of the false gods, put a word of warning you’re going to want to read all the others once you finish the short story

Actually too short.

I would have liked it to be much longer.
I was fully engrossed in the story when it ended! I'll
look for more.

Steve Higgs did a splendid job of showing how torturous teenage girls can be. He also did a tremendous job detailing the battle. Even if it was a short story it was one of the best.
