''This woman is so far out of my league, it’s not funny.''

I came up this mountain looking to discover something about myself, some clarity around my life, and to have a hard reset in my attitude. I expected to discover it myself through soul searching. Instead, I may have found it through a reclusive Navy SEAL with ginger-gold scruff on his jaw and a deeply perverted private fantasy of spanking trespassers. Not really something you put on Instagram, but actually pretty fucking profound when I think about it.
“Have I told you how hot you are? Like…very attractive.” I kiss his stubble-covered jaw. “Really very nice to look at. But also guaranteed to be mean in all the right ways.”
He chokes on a laugh. “Are you seducing me in the middle of the forest?”
“Is it working? Want to spank me?”
He throws his door open and drags himself out from under me, then twists so I’m sitting on his driver’s side seat, my thighs spread, and he’s standing between them. He grabs my hand and pushes it against his erection.
“I’m the one who should be seducing you, little girl.”
I give him a weak but pleased smile. “Mutual seduction society.”
“Is that what you need? A mean man to weave some magic and make you do filthy things with him?”
“How did you guess?” He fists my hair, his gaze hot as he searches my face.
“I see you, Abby.”
“You’re going to do a lot for me.”
His hand tightens around my ankle. “Nothing will give me greater pleasure.”
“But if we’re going to do…this…shouldn’t it be a relationship of equals? What can I do for you?”
He grins. “Abby, you make me happy. You make me laugh, and challenge me, and help me.” He points at the pergola above us. “If you weren’t here, that would still be in pieces on the driveway.” I roll my eyes, and he pulls down my sock to tickle the bottom of my bare foot. “Come here.”
I climb onto his chair, my legs straddling his hips. He presses his forehead against mine.
“I thought I kept coming back here to get away from everything. But the whole time, I was making a safe refuge for two people. You and me, Goldilocks. Forever.”
