Amelia Serrano hated dirt, so when her friends suggested going to a carnival, it was the last thing she wanted to do. Little did she know she would meet Mackenzie Kaufman there - her opposite in so many ways. Mackenzie was a small-town mechanic whose first love was her sprint car that she raced on dirt tracks on the weekends.
What could these two possibly have in common? Not much, aside from a mutual attraction and the desire to be around each other constantly. Is this romance a winner or are they destined to crash and burn?
This 24,000 word novella is book number three in The Six Pack Series
Erica Lee finished writing her first book, Dear Santa: I’m Gay, in December 2016. Erica currently lives in Pennsylvania with her wife, dog, chinchilla, and bunny. She spends her days working as an optometrist and her nights snuggled up on the couch with her furry family, binging on netflix or youtube.

Oh I love this one. I like both Amelia and Mackenzie and their chemistry are great. They are so different and live a completely different life I doubt they can make it but if there is anything that I learn from them, that is with love everything is possible.
This was fun! As a standalone its relatively short and simplistic. The plot is fairly straightforward and proceeds as expected. That said, it was still a lot of fun. This is part of a 12-novella series though, and that context elevates it a few extra steps. I am thoroughly enjoying this ongoing series and will be devouring all entries. As a part of a series, the characters are slowly but steadily getting a lot of development, and there are multiple ongoing plotlines to enjoy (even if only one is taking center stage at a time).
This couple was cute and I liked their vibe together. As I said it was relatively simple and there wasn’t a lot of conflict or angst; I have a hunch though that this couple will come back around in a later entry in the series (I haven’t peeked so who knows). This one was relatively insta-love which I don’t usually care for too much, but the meddling friends and great writing kept me engaged and entertained.
Number 3 in the series, so far I think it’s the weakest but it was still a good read. Especially considering how short this was, it was an easy reading and fun little novella.
Not worth reading alone: read the series in order.
Another good installment to Erica Lee’s monthly short. I didn’t connect with the characters in this one. The love seemed a little forced and quick. However, it was entertaining and a fun short read. I always look forward to these!
The mains in this story are just about as opposite as they come, but they work great together. I could really picture them being slightly uncomfortable in some situations, but just being so comfortable together
This third in the Six Pack series focuses on Amelia Serrano. She is an upper east-side NYC girl who enjoys her social media job. When she tells her friends she hates carnivals of course they drag her to one outside of Philadelphia. One they arrive she meets Mack (Mackenzie Kaufman). They are opposites in so many way. Mack loves her small town working in her family auto shop. She also races dirt tracks on the weekends. There is instant attraction culminating is the perfect kiss. After weeks of moping Amelia’s friends whisk her away for her birthday as a surprise to see Mack race. The both have been thinking of the other and are willing to see if they can date with some distance between them. This is sweet and realistic. Sometimes careers and interests don’t perfectly align. I would absolutely love for this to have been longer but in a short book you get each girl introducing he other to their worlds and family. I like both MCs. I think story wise I enjoyed book #2 slightly more but that is personal preference. I’m guessing Erica Lee is going to release a book a month so I’ll be waiting anxiously for the novella series to continue.
Once more.. GREAT! I just discovered Erica Lee and all I can say is that she knows how to describe it. What does that mean? It means she knows how to narrate the feelings and emotions that it makes you get pretty invested in.
So, this story follows: Amelia Serrano and Mackenzie Kaufman they are from different worlds, Amelia is the girly type from the Upper East Side, yes, from actually New York, she wears heels everywhere because basically that’s the only type of shoes she knows of but she’s not only beautiful, she’s also a sweetheart, thoughtful and a great friend. One day looking for new adventures her group of friends took her to a carnival, and as soon as she arrived she set her eyes on Mackenzie. Mackenzie on the other hand is a small-town girl, who likes to race cars and owns with her family an auto body shop. What happens when both worlds collide? Magic.
I forgot to mention in my previous review of this series, how sweet it’s that these couples ask the actual question “Do you want to be my gf?” yeah, maybe old school but I personally like it. It’s sweet!
Low angst, good build-up, a lot to the imagination. Good! Good! Good!
This story continues with Amelia and McKenzie. Amelia is the girly girl of the group. When the gang decides to meet Hannah and Cecilia at a carnival, Amelia is not happy. Dirt, mud and heels to do not mix. But not there five minutes and Amelia sees a young woman that catches her eye. There story is fun and sweet. They come from two different worlds and Amelia posh and sophisticated meets McKenzie aka Mack who works with her father in his garage and races trucks. Can these two come together despite their differences? Okay Erica Lee, you got me hooked. Waiting for next book!
amelia and mackenzie’s entire relationship felt extremely rushed and practically fit the u-haul stereotype
i was a fan of #2 in this short series but this one just didn’t click as much with me, not to say i didn’t enjoy it but it just wasn’t enough for a five star read
This was a lot of fun. From starting with a fashion emergency to spending her weekends at a dirt race track, Amelia made a lot of progress over the course of the story. I mean, I don’t know why these ladies haven’t taught each other to get somebody’s number when they’re interested? But at least it gives ample opportunity for friend-staged interventions.
I thought newcomer Mackensie was wonderful; she has spunk and racing skill and was never afraid to speak her mind, lol. Amelia was a bit more of a stretch for me — I’d pick the burger over the sale, let’s be real — though I sympathized with her late struggle. I’d have had the same issue, though I like to think I might have handled it somewhat more gracefully? She dealt with it quickly enough, which was a relief.
I enjoyed the track as a setting; that was new to me, especially whether you could or couldn’t hang in the pits, stand on top of trailers, stream it online, and all the rest. Somehow it seemed louder and grittier in person than anything I’ve seen on TV? It definitely had character, and was a great change of pace.
All in all this was an excellent addition to the series. :)
I'm really enjoying this Six Pack series and the interactions of the friends that author Erica Lee has very talentedly woven into each storyline. In this one, Amelia, the most high-fashioned sense of the friends, is dragged to a carnival where her high heel shoes sink into the mud as soon as she steps out of the car. This really made me laugh! While there, she meets Mackenzie who is an auto mechanic and race car driver. Really? Yep! But this story really works. It's positive and hopeful and just full of nice people. I really enjoyed it and the cover is just perfect!
I've liked the other books I've read by Erica Lee, and since I'm a racing fan, I was sure I'd love this one. But I never really felt emotionally engaged with the characters, and the racing played only a very small part in the story, with nowhere near enough detail to bring the racing scenes alive. I mean, dirt track racing in sprint cars is full of roaring thunder, slipping and sliding, heaving and pounding, twitching and spinning, and all kinds of drama. None of that here, though. I'm sorry to say I was disappointed. Maybe I'll like the next one better.
The Six Pack series continues with city girl, Amelia, and small town mechanic and race car driver, McKenzie, who meet at a carnival. The attraction is immediate so Amelia’s friends arrange for her to be alone with McKenzie at the carnival. Amelia is invited to one of McKenzie’s car races in small town Pennsylvania and they begin to grow closer. The main issue that comes up later in the story revolves around who would move where should their relationship continue to grow. Overall, an enjoyable novella.
This book is the first one in a series. Amelia Matt McKenzie and feelings developed. The only problem is Amelia lives in Philadelphia and McKenzie lives in rural Pennsylvania. Amelia comes from the big city well McKenzie is a mechanic and race car driver. The plan is goo revolving around how they can be with on another . I found the characters Very good and the plat was also good. I would recommend this book for all romance readers.
Amelia Serrano hates going places she can’t wear her best heels so when her friends drag her to a carnival she’s not that entranced. Sinking into the mud she trades her pumps for sneakers and heads straight to the sweets table where she meets Mackenzie Kauffman, a drag racer and auto mechanic in small town PA. Will city mouse and country mouse be able to make their differences add to the sparks between them? Great series.
I don’t know how she manages it but Erica is telling seven stories in this series, every single one with a happy ending in very different ways with very different people all of whom are wonderful friends living beautiful young lives. Just gives everyone hope for bright tomorrows. So, so good.
I really enjoyed Opposite Tracks. It’s a great book, wonderful plot. I love the characters. It’s nice to read a book where people react positively to a change in their lives.
I have really enjoyed getting to know this group of friends. They're all down to earth and very likable... just the sort of women you'd really like to have in your life. Well done!
The characters in the Six Pack series are so easy to get invested into being friends. Amelia and Mackenzie are the two main characters in this episode of the series. They remind us that it's okay for opposites to attract.
I absolutely love quick reads about romance. I'm such a sucker for love that this helps. I couldn't put it down for a not even a minute. The details about how someone can make another person their entire world is amazing.
