The Appointment: A Sweet, Contemporary Romance

Rate this book
Isa had been to the gyno before - several times in fact. She was always very rigorous with looking after her health, which included getting checked out regularly. It was fine. A bit unpleasant but just one of those things one needed to get on with.

It’s just… those other times her doctor hadn’t been a gorgeous dark-haired man with a warm smile who sent heat shooting straight through Isa’s body when he spoke. The same man, to Isa’s horror, she had bumped into in a coffee shop just that morning and been instantly attracted to.

It looks like she and her new crush are going to get considerably more acquainted a lot quicker than Isa had imagined. Just how is she going to control herself while the most gorgeous man she’s ever met… examines her?

A sweet, contemporary romance with an offbeat love interest, lots of moments to make you (and Isa) squirm, and a guaranteed HEA.

The cover is kind of corny but fear not, this was such a quick and satisfying spicy read.

Don't let the terrible cover deter you, this novella is excellent! Really sweet with good character development. Big on consent and not a lot of angst, which I appreciate. Elliot is adorable but the man can put the moves on for sure 🔥 praise kink galore with this one.

Isa and Elliot

He spills tea on her accidentally at the coffee shop. She is immediately attracted to him - dark hair and glasses - and so nice. She arrives at her gyne appt - he’s her doctor. She can’t help how turned on she is because of the attraction and she ends up orgasming during the exam. She is mortified and then the next day finds out he is friends with her closest friends- and they have wanted to set them up. She is soooo awkward around him and is so attracted to him. It is a bit unbearable. He senses it decides the way to alleviate the problem is to masturbate in a video call with her - this is hot 🔥🔥🔥🔥. Her thought is “marry me” after he finishes! Afterwords she isn’t as awkward and they have lots of lunch dates but neither tries for anything else until he admits he forgot to send her exam to the lab - making her get another exam and then she starts confessing her attraction.

He is pretty adorable- talks a lot and is very enthusiastic about everything- cinnamon roll.

Hea with ring in cake proposal.

Despite how terrible the cover is, this was a very sweet (and surprisingly spicy!) contemporary romance. Knowing this was a gynecologist-patient romance, I expected some sort of a literotica style story with minimal plot and mostly smut. I was pleasantly surprised to see that was not the case. The hero is kind, empathetic, takes his profession seriously and treats patients with dignity and respect, and doesn’t seduce the heroine on the examination table. That said, due to same-friend-group situations, he ends up developing a close friendship with the heroine outside of the hospital. This story features more of a friends to lovers story arc than a taboo relationship trope. The story was very sweet, the hero was a bit different than other romance heroes with his quirky dressing style and slight eccentricities, and the epilogue ending was very sweetly HEA.

This was so sweet! I thought it was just going to be a short hot novella palette cleanser type book, and I was happily surprised by the cute awkwardness, the emotions, and the sweet romance.

I gotta admit, it was hard for me to imagine because I am the kind of person that dreads these appointments. The author made it really believable though, and it somehow...really worked for me.

I adored the sweet, awkward FMC, who is not shy per se, but becomes really shy around the MMC. And I loved the nerdy/quirky MMC. And the PRAISE...you guys...great examples of praise kink in this! I can't even really think of anything that I didn't like about this to be honest, it is short and sweet and a little kinky and very hot.

I read some sort of British version of this that I can’t find on goodreads this cover though it’s disgusting the black gloves vomit. Never in my life would I have thought to read something like this but I heard good things and like I guess????? As a healthcare worker if I was giving someone a pelvic exam or examining any part of their genitals and they had an orgasm I’d be disgusted it would be added to my work trauma bank in my head. Outside of that their relationship was cute though I suppose. Not enough to enjoy because obv the pelvic exam orgasm was like a major point of embarrassment for the FMC and part of their conflict

Embarrassment

Oh my, this is the most second hand embarrassment I’ve ever read oh my. But I still finished it cause this is me irl. I stay being mortified over everything and I wanted to see how the Mfc developed. The Mmc is something else altogether. He came across as a bit… childish. But all in all this was a good quick read

Honestly, there was a lot about this that annoyed me. That Scene at her flat, though.... that bumped my rating up to 2 stars. We like a man that knows how to get a woman off and enjoys doing it.

Some of the male characters were sort of creepy. She finds him attractive which is lucky, because if she disliked him and he pulled some of these stunts, she would be getting a restraining order!

This story was surprisingly sweet given the trope. I thought that the book could have leaned more into the medical setting. The couple was very sweet and they both were pining for each other but waiting for the other one to make the move. Overall, very cute and fun.

Promising premise, beginner execution. Overall, boring. Wanted more medical. He is the shorter of the two and it makes it better. Doesn’t matter how he’s actually written.
