Holy Cow! That was good! Jessica Patch wrote an astounding page turning romantic suspense thriller. I am worn out from all the action. Dodging bullets and running from bad guys. I've read all of her Love Inspired books and this one was my favorite. I thought I guessed the bad guy, but bam! No I did not! Well I certainly didn't see that ending. By the way, it did end happily with wit and sweet kisses.

A cold case turns hot as new threats emerge and FBI analyst finds herself in the crosshairs of two killers, she must rely on her best friend to unravel the case before she becomes the next victim.

An action packed read, that kept me guessing. I loved the relationship between Chelsey and Tack, they have known each other for years and have a strong background of trust between them, it was satisfying to see them give love a chance. I liked the strong bond between the two of them as well as their friendships with those that they worked with.

This was a well paced, entertaining read, with great relationship building, and great dialogue. I liked the suspense, and the dual danger of the past and present colliding.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Warning: Texas Ranger Tack Holliday is going to put a permanent crimp in your toes so wear comfy slippers when you read Texas Cold Case Threat. Consider this an official Toe-Curl Alert! He is all Texan cowboy charm and knows how to flirt! Oh my!

And I love -- really love -- the dynamics between this hero and his heroine. They've been friends for years and have that easy camaraderie that develops over time. The sassy dialogue is so much fun! Both are in law enforcement but in different fields and miles away from each other. Even so, they've kept their friendship going strong...until they are thrown into the middle of absolute maniacal chaos in the heart of cowboy country...Yeehaw!!!...and deeper feelings stir. (Swoon!)

The suspense is crazy good. Complicated and angsty and there's interesting profiling details scattered throughout which I found fascinating. Tons of twists and turns, plenty of action scenes, bullets flying, knives slashing -- this book has it all...and a happily ever after besides!

Plus -- woohoo -- this is the first book in Jessica R. Patch's Quanitco Profilers Thriller miniseries and the next one is coming out in June!

'Hard to keep a clear head when someone was doing their best to blow it off.'

Jessica Patch is a dab hand at a great inspirational suspense story. I have been a fan since I read her very first book, which was not suspense, but awesome! She does well in several genres, in fact. This one features a great plot with super characters who work hard to keep bad guys off the streets. If they don't get done in by them first. Patch's heroes are always off the charts great, too. I loved it!

My thanks to the publisher and author for a copy of this book. The opinion here is my own.

"Texas Cold Case Threat" is a Christian romantic suspense. Chelsey felt compelled to put criminals in prison to balance out the thefts that her father committed. In the past, she bragged that she'd never gotten a profile wrong and claimed credit for closing cases. Then the true killer in one case convinced her in a letter that she made a mistake once. While still certain that's the only mistake she's made, she's not confidant when making new profiles. Tack's investigating a serial killer targeting Mexican immigrant women and asked for her help in profiling the killer. She's not certain of her profile and several people seem like strong suspects. (Though I thought it was pretty obvious whodunit matched what little she gave for a profile and quickly realized it was him.)

Chelsey and Tack were friends for years and realized how much they cared for each other as events threatened their lives. They worked well together as they tried to solve whodunit while staying alive. The suspense came from someone repeatedly attacking them and others. With two killers out to get her, you'd think she'd be cautious. While I liked what the author was trying to do with the growth of the characters, I found it exasperating that Chelsey often seemed oblivious to possible danger. There was no sex or bad language.

I received an ebook review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

This was a really exciting and action packed book! I liked the cold case focus of the story, too, and was very interested to see if Chelsey and Tack could figure out how the murder suspects were connected and how a serial killer had stayed under the radar for so long in the little Texas town.

I liked the connection between Chelsey and Tack and the thin line they walked between friendship and romantic love. Both of them had reasons that kept them from moving their friendship into more and those reasons made sense to them, yet it was clear that they were made for each other.

This story kept me guessing and had threats coming at Chelsey and Tack from what seemed like all directions. There was good romantic tension, as well, plus secrets and guilt that our main characters had to wade through.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I look forward to reading more!

Loved this book!
It kept me on the edge of my seat eagerly turning the pages to see what happened next! I wasn't disappointed.
I loved every minute of it.
I learned a lot from this book. It's why I like Patch's books. They're educational and exciting at the same time!
I like that she adds the many twists and turns to keep us wondering who the culprit was.
It's my favorite thing about Patch's books.
I didn't want the story to end!
I look forward to the next one she writes.

What a fun and exciting read! I really loved this one, featuring Tack who we've met in earlier books and Chelsey while they track not one but two killers who are desperate to end them both. This one held my attention and did not let go. I had to know what happened!! The ending was super good and I loved the last couple pages of the story. This will be a favorite!

Another awesome book by Jessica Patch that I could not put down once I started reading it. I loved the cast of characters and the storyline. It was one of those books that I honestly can say that I did not see it ending the way that it did. Most stories you can tell who the bad guys were but this one I didn't figure it out.

Chelsea is a profiler but also a perfectionist. When she finds out that she didn't profile a case exactly correct it causes her to doubt her abilities to ever profile properly. So when her best friend Tack asks her to profile a case he is working on she is afraid to give him her opinion.

Check out this book if you want a great story. I enjoyed it and can't wait for the next book by Jessica Patch.

Jessica Patch never fails to disappoint with her novels. Once again, she proves herself to be a rock star at twists and turns that make you second and third guess yourself. Her characters are real and flawed, seeking redemption, and she never fails to deliver it. No matter how suspenseful the story, the spiritual thread is always at the forefront, and I love how she not only entertains but also guides readers deeper in their relationship with Christ.

Prepare for a wild ride!! I loved this fast-faced, flirty, fun suspense. It had me on the edge of my seat AND guessing throughout. I'm always a fan of the friends-to-more theme, and I kept thinking "how will they ever get over this?" about their personal conflicts. It was terrific! Highly recommend!

This book was captivating and intriguing from start to finish, with well-developed characters that brought the story to life. I particularly enjoyed the playful and engaging dynamic between the characters, which added depth to their relationship. However, the ending felt a bit far-fetched and slightly diminished the overall experience for me. Despite this, it was an enjoyable read, and I’d still recommend it. I’m giving it 4 stars.

Lovely narrative jaunt through Big Bend territory on a horse. Chelsey Banks is an FBI agent who has built a career as a profiler. Tack Holliday has a solid career with the Texas Rangers, the law agency not the baseball team. Tack wants Chelsey’s input on a case he’s working. Lucky for him , she’s staying at his friend’s ranch house.
Soon two killers are after Chelsey. As they start to work both cases, they soon decide that their hearts desire is closer than they knew.
This is a sweet romance.

TEXAS COLD CASE THREAT by Jessica R. Patch is the well-crafted, page turning story of Chelsey Banks, FBI behavioral analyst, and Tack Holliday, Texas Ranger, as they have each other’s backs while searching for criminals all while trying to stay alive and figuring out where their friendship stands.

Raised with a con-artist father and taught the tricks of the trade from a very early age, Chelsey had decided to turn her skills to the other side of the law. Her job has been her life - trying with each capture to right a wrong done before her life took its turn to the right side of the law. Reeling after finding out her perfect record was full of pitfalls, she takes some time off deciding to isolate at a ranch recommended by her dear and long-time friend Tack. She needs time to put things in perspective, figure out who is haunting her with details proving she isn’t so perfect and why, and to figure out if she really knows her purpose in life. After a couple days of unwinding, her peace and quiet is turned upside down when the ranch’s maid is killed in her cabin turning her stay far from the refuge she had sought. Plus whoever is taunting her over her mistakes has been able to find out where she’s staying, even with no one but Tack knowing where she went. He starts leaving more notes and evidence of how wrong she was while stating she’s not fit to live. She starts to unravel and doubts herself.

When Tack arrives, he knows there’s more bothering Chelsey than the maid’s murder, but being the friend he is, he knows she will talk when she is ready. In the meantime, after the murder fits the profile for a cold case of a serial murderer, he does ask for her help to try to catch this person of these horrible crimes. When Chelsey’s stalker start sending notes to the cabin, she has to tell Tack what’s been going on. Even his tender words telling her she’s not responsible doesn’t seem to soften the blow that she’d blown it big time. But she doesn’t want Tack to get blindsided by associating with her once this hits the public news. As they knew they would, they decide to work together and be on alert for each of their cases. However, it seems danger and threat to life and limb follow them at every turn.

Will Chelsey be able to tell all her secrets to Tack or is she ready to risk their friendship ending if she does? Are they chasing one criminal or two? Are they one in the same? Will Chelsey be able to right the wrong that led to an innocent man behind bars where he was murdered? Why does anyone have such hatred for Chelsey? Even though she loves her father, will correcting the past deeds also mean cutting all ties? How many other women will die before they find their culprit? Is their friendship strong enough to survive the financial harm that came to Tack’s family and that Chelsey knew but didn’t trust him enough to tell? Are Chelsey and Tack ready to take their friendship to another level or dare they chance it? Can Chelsey literally put her life in Tack’s hands knowing he wholeheartedly has her back?

TEXAS COLD CASE THREAT is a fabulous story of true friendship - where you support, believe in and encourage the other regardless of personal feelings and sometimes because of them. It’s a story showing that no one is perfect, but with God we can do our best, correct that we feel was harmful and be forgive for what we did – both by God and our fellow man. It’s an inspirational story woven with a thread of faith that reminds us not to judge others but to lend a helping hand when we can, a shoulder for support and to love as God loves us. Jessica R. Patch has another hit in this book. It most definitely deserves my FIVE STARS!

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the first book in the Quantico Profilers series. I really loved the characters in this book. The suspense/mystery in this book was so very good, and there was so much put into book. I love that the mystery was fast pace, and the romance in this book is slow moving friends to lovers. I did not see the twist in this book coming, and it was so great. I did not want to put this book down, and I could not read it fast enough. Love this book so much. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Love Inspired Suspense) or author (Jessica R. Patch) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

In Texas Cold Case Threat by Jessica R. Patch, an FBI profiler doubts her training and abilities and her best friend (who is also a Texas Ranger) wants to know what she’s hiding.

I’m such a fan of friends to more romances (even the ones where the couple is fighting for their lives), and Patch gives a solid delivery of this trope while keeping readers on the edge of their seats. Everyone can relate to Chelsea in one way or another as most of us have experienced that niggling doubt that we don’t belong or that we’re not good enough (aka imposter syndrome).

Another area Patch excels in with this book is giving the reader plenty of suspicious characters. I was so focused on trying to figure out who was responsible, the answer came as a complete surprise. And those are the best books, the ones with answers you didn’t see coming.

Chelsey is back after realizing that someone in the past she helped put behind bars might not even be in jail. Then a couple incidents happen and now she's trying to get her best friend Tack for help. She hasn't really told Tack everything and still holding a couple secrets that if gotten out could ruin things.

I thought this was a pretty good book I really enjoyed it. First theres that secret Chelsey is hiding from others the guilt she is holding. Its manages to cause her to have that bit of a boundary for others. I mean her father was a con man and she could've went that way but ended up choosing a route that'll better herself, having a father like he was was complicating things. Then theres the whole things of maybe being wrong in the past when doing her job and questioning if she put the wrong person behind bars. There is so much going on to keep any readers interested and I really enjoyed this book.

By: Jessica R Patch
Texas Cold Case Threat is the first book in the Quantico Profiler series. It is a Love Inspired Suspense full of suspense, courage, danger, and faith. This is one when I started i could not put it down. The author did a great job on the story and the characters. I caught myself holding my breath several times. Does the cold case break in connect to a cold case serial killed? With the help of FBI behavioral analyst and a Texas Ranger can they find the answers they need before one of them gets it first?

⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (3.5) our second mom book from walmart😎 not bad not bad! probably the first time i’ll ever say that i wish it was like 25-50 pages longer. think i enjoyed it more than “claiming her legacy” but it’s also difficult to compare when one is like 100 pages longer than the other aka more room for growth/character development and what not

I've been loaning my friend my books for a few months. Upon returning them to me, she's started including some of hers. It seems all the books she's passing along to me are Harlequin Books. Not my typical book I'll read, so not typical I've read only one before, years ago when I was in college and I wrote a paper on it. Now this is my second. I don't want to hurt her/tell her they aren't really my thing, so I compromise with myself and decided I'll only read the first book in the series and send all the others unread. I have this thing of reading books not in order.

So this is a Love Inspired Suspense Inspirational Romance novel. What a mouthful! Of that mouthful, I only like "Suspense". All the rest doesn't do anything for me.

Now for the story: Chelsey Banks is a FBI behavioral analyst, but after learning she ended up sending an innocent man to prison, she questions herself and her abilities in her job.....over and over....and over and over.....and over and over again.....to the point where I couldn't take her self doubts much more. All this as she hides herself at a friend's secluded ranch. But as things happen as only in a novel, she walks in when the housekeeper is being attacked and the evidence ends up being connected to a cold-case serial killer. Her best friend, Teck Holiday (good grief what a name!) is a Texas Ranger and he needs her help to help crack the case, especially now that the killer is after her!

This is a series, a Quantico Profilers Thriller. I'm not sure how many there will be as this book was written in 2022 (it's 2023), but I can safely say, I won't be following it. I know the two best friends have deeper feelings for one another and I don't need to read a series to tell me what eventually will happen.

It's a face paced, easy read. Can get through the book quickly.

Who from her past could want to kill her...?

I have to admit that Jessica R. Patch really had me coming and going with this first book in her Quantico Profilers series. I was pretty convinced I had the killer figured out almost right away but then I was presented with another suspect that I was just as convinced was guilty. I'm not going to tell you who it was, of course, but suffice it to say I went back and forth so many times my head was ready to spin. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved every minute of it! I like to be puzzled and surprised, which Texas Cold Case Threat most certainly did!

A serial killer is one of my favorite romantic suspense tropes which doubled my anticipation and enjoyment of Texas Cold Case Threat – the other half of the equation being the fact that I have never read a Jessica R. Patch novel that I didn't like. Whew! She sure didn't disappoint me! Some Love Inspired Suspenses take me a little time to read for whatever reason or another but not Texas Cold Case Threat, as I've come to expect with Jessica R. Patch's fiction I could hardly put it down.

You can't go wrong with a Love Inspired Suspense novel so why not check out Texas Cold Case Threat, the start to Jessica R. Patch's exciting new Quantico Profilers series...it was pretty good!

Texas Cold Case Threat is the first book that I have read by Jessica R. Patch and it will not be the last. It is about a FBI behavioral analyst Chelsey Banks, who just got news that has sent her reeling and retreating to a ranch that is owned by a friend of her best friend. She just found out that her profile was wrong, which led to an innocent man being sent to prison where he was later killed by another inmate. She only found out because the real killer is sending her taunting letters. Unbeknownst to her danger has followed her and she has also stepped into another killer’s crosshairs as well. Chelsey ends up being attacked while trying to save a young woman from the hands of a killer, which ends up being connected to her best friend Texas Ranger Tack Holliday’s cold case. Can these two outmaneuver not one but two killers before it is too late? Read Texas Cold Case Threat to find out. This was a fast romance with just the right amount of suspense and faith thrown in. This is the first in the Quantico Profilers series and I can’t wait to read the next one.

It wasn't bad.

Chelsey Banks is a member of a FBI Behavior Analysist Unit. Usually she's really good at her job. But recently her confidence has been shaken. Chelsey retreats to the ranch of a friend, Tack Holliday. Tack is a Texas Ranger and is happy to have his best friend visiting. Maybe she could help him out with a case. But when Chelsey arrives she interrupts an intruder attacking the ranch's housekeeper.

The case seems to be connected to a serial killer cold case. Pairing up with Tack, they attempt to bring two killers down at once, with at least one of them also trying to take out Chelsey.

So what did I think?

Well for the most part I thought it was pretty good. You do have to suspend your disbelief a little bit for some situations, but it was a decent read. Tack and Chelsey have a good foundation to move into a relationship and it was refreshing to have a protagonist who is struggling with self doubt.

After learning her profile sent an innocent man to prison several years earlier, should Chelsey Banks trust her abilities as a behavioral analyst for the FBI? Is the killer she caught choking a housekeeper the same person who is writing her taunting notes? Can she help her long-time friend Tack Holliday stop the villain dubbed "The Outlaw" before he or another serial killer adds her to his body-count?

Jessica Patch has written another excellent romantic suspense novel in "Texas Cold Case Threat," the first of her Quantico Profilers series. As typical for her, she has great character studies with a mystery to solve and nail-biting plot twists along the way.

I highly recommend this psychological thriller.

This was good. The relationship was nice, and even though at least one of the two main mysteries was easy enough to solve, both were still pretty interesting.

My only snag with this is how often the FMC had her life in peril and needed to be rescued by the MMC -- at least 4 times in such a short book, whereas she rescued/tried to rescue him once. Which I get this is a thriller, and I usually love a strong rescuer MMC, but also they're both law enforcement professionals, so I wish it had been a bit more balanced.

Wait let me catch my breath

This book was amazing! Tack is a Texas Ranger. Chelsea is a FBI profiler, and they are best friends. The setting is Texas, where they are trying to catch a serial killer. I have today I didn't know who the killer was until it was revealed. This story was an adrenaline rush, one death defying moment after another. It is a Christian book and has some really good moments about pride and forgiveness in it. I enjoyed this book tremendously.

Chelsey Banks retreats to a friends ranch in Texas after a murderer starts sending her taunting letters. While at the ranch she interrupts the housekeeper being attacked. When there is evidence of the break-in being connected to a cold case serial killer, Chelsey’s best friend, Texas Rancher Tack Holliday needs her help. Is there only one killer or is there two killers to catch!?

I enjoyed this quick read and how the story came together.

Excellent. I read this book in one full day, with just a few breaks.

From the back cover:
After a murderer sends her taunting letters, FBI behavioral analyst Chelsey Banks retreats to a friend's ranch - and interrupts the housekeeper being attacked. When evidence connects the break-in to a cold-case serial killer, Chelsey's best friend, Texas Ranger Tack Holliday, needs her help. With Tack at her side, this could be Chelsey's chance to catch two killers - unless one of them gets her first.
