Witches and Whiskers - a review by Rosemary Kenny

An excellent anthology of magic and mystical shenanigans from an amazing array of well known authors that supports a deserving animal charity...what's not to like?

One of my favourites is Secret Royalty by the illustrious Suzanne Jenkins:

Eden Brielle is a teenaged witch who was adopted when her witch Mom was forced to give her up, by her human birth father. She's surprised to receive a letter, via a lawyer, saying he believes she's his daughter, but wants a DNA test and magical assessment of her abilities to confirm her ID.
Next, Eden gets a personal invitation to join a night school to enable her to develop them properly.
What's revealed by the pre-school tests?
Where has her Mom been until now?
What's Eden's grandfather's legacy to her?

A moving rites-of-passage story, that has flavours of Harry Potter's early years and Cinderella with a modern twist mixed together in a magical mix of delight, by Queen of Romantic Suspense, Suzanne Jenkins.

Be sure to get your collection of Witches and Whiskers as soon as you can, for 25 honest-to-goodness tales that will warm your heart and put a smile on your face for sure...satisfaction guaranteed!

This is a review for SECRETS Bk #1 by T.M. Payne
This is a short story about a secret kept and the consequences it can cause. This is a beautiful story with a powerful message that we can all learn from. Caring and strong characters. I just loved it and highly recommend it. Fantastically done!!

This Book Bundle was leant to me and I really enjoyed the plethora of stories in this bundle. This one really caught my eye though because it's an everyday problem in our society today....

Secrets (Secrets #1) by T.M. Payne

This was a very strong and compelling story, although short it told me the struggle that this type of secret, or situation can have on a person. The damage it can cause if not dealt with in time, so be yourself, not what others want and let them know no matter what their reaction may be.

Read how friends stick together to cope with problems.

There is a good number of entries in this selection unfortunately only a handful were enjoyable to me. Some of them end in cliffhangers and I think most have been previously published and are just bundled up here. For the price the collection might be worth it. But all my favorites seemed to be by authors I already know (and books I recognized).

Wow 20 plus amazing stories from all of these authors that we all know and love, there’s dragons, wolves, bears, witches, vampires, demons, angels and so many more supernaturals. I love that the proceeds for this book are going to give homes to animals and with hours of entertaining reading what more do you need?. Amazing stories I loved this charity anthology and I definitely recommend this book.

This anthology is pure gold dust. I have discovered of authors that I had not read before, and will definitely continue to read, such as Silvana G Sanchez. I loved the way that there was literally something for everyone, and that after a story about witches there would be a different type of story, maybe vampires, or shifters or even angels and demons. I enjoyed every single story in this book.

I enjoyed this anthology full of all different types of stories. They were all a blast to read as they made me laugh and giggle. Some of the characters were a hoot and some I wanted to slap but they were all entertaining to read. And the problems they each found and had to overcome added to all the mayhem. They were all different lengths and some were part of series but all were easy to read. Enjoyed them all and found a few new authors to read.

This was a wonderful anthology of stories containing magic, paranormal, and all things strange and exciting. Some of these authors were new to me and some I have read before. The stories were short but a lot of them left me wanting more and leaning toward checking out that author and their personal books. These stories were exciting and had wonderful characters that were really easy to fall in love with. Can't wait to check out more from some of the new-to-me authors.

The 1st story is good but then ehh. Not a fan of the stories or the plots in most of them. Needs quite a bit of editing and the title is misleading in my opinion. Just wasn't impressed with this sadly knowing it is for such a good cause.

If you like Urban, Paranormal, SciFi, or Romances this is the anthology for you. It is HUGE! The books are a collection from one publisher, so the works are varied. All proceeds go to take care of and rehome cats and dogs. There is over 8,000 pages of material to read (I am not sure exactly what you will have- I use a larger font.) and plenty of new authors to experience.
SO far my favorite has been Cerulean Destiny by Emery Jenkins, it was erotic and rather evil, which I was apparently in the mood for...muhahaha.
I received a free copy of this book. I am choosing to leave a review.

Collaborate for a cause

Nothing better than to find a collection of some of my favorite authors joined together for a good cause. Each of the stories provided many hours of entertainment, thrills and the elusive HEA. Just look at some of my favorite offerings.

Nosey Rosie by Julia Mills
Finding a mate the Southern Fried way
This is only the second book in the series, but I’m hooked! These southern witches love to use their, sass, wit and snark to solve mysteries and avoid getting mated. It’s all a front though. Once their fated mate has proven his love and devotion the ladies give him their all. With all of their friends and every half-sibling that shows up they get stronger. The more the merrier in the search for a HEA. I can’t wait to see which sibling will find their fated mate next.

Dark Embrace by Elle Boon
A story fit for a queen
Why did I wait so long to read this book? Oh I know, because now I’m desperate for the next book. Will Ezra and Dash become the pair they were meant to be? Will Khan find his heart’s love? So many questions and no answers until the next book. This book was as awesome and as intense as I knew it would be. The queen of the fae deserved no less when it came time to accept her mates. I love how the family keeps growing and the characters continue to connect and feel the love and joy. I am looking forward to the next book from the author no matter which series it is from.

Casting Magic by C.D. Gorri
A girl after my own heart
The author did a fantastic job with this short fast read. I enjoyed the insta love aspect and then the relationship that developed from it. It was the perfect mix for a fantastic YA read. The author made the characters easy to fall in love with and left me excited to read more. This book had all of the action and excitement that the author brings to each book in her world and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

Definitely pick this anthology up if you want a nice blend of supernatural stories from some of your favorite authors and most likely, several new-to-you ones as well.
Dark Magic by Cali Mann was a really quick and easy to read novella perfect for the Halloween season (or any time of the year, really). I enjoyed the pull between good and evil in this book as well as the concept that dark magic doesn't always necessarily mean that the person wielding it is bad. Don't get me wrong, there are some very clear baddies in this book, but also some surprising characters that aren't as bad as you would assume them to be based on what they are.
This novella gave me a bit of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde vibes with the whole brother situation with Seb and Bash. Not so much with the good vs evil aspect, but rather with the contrast in the brothers' personalities and the constant switching back and forth. Their predicament and how they got to that point was very unique and I loved how Mann worked their relationships with Greer out in this book. It was an entertaining situation to read about and had me both giggling and waiting in suspense to see how everything would play out with the three of them.

I am in seventh heaven now that I found this collection of amazing stories and it even helps a great charity. Every kind of PNR you could think of by every great writer in the genre. I have binge read most of the collection and am still thrilled with the characters, twists and turns, surprises, heat and banter of these stories. Have not found one I disliked yet. Heartily recommend getting this collection as it will make your week, but make sure you have plenty of time as you will not be able to stop reading it.

Disappointed and disgusted! Book should have come with a trigger or violence rating!! Second story in the book started the first paragraph with a violent incestuous rape. Got the book because several of my favorite authors write stories in this anthology. They don’t write like that so I wasn’t prepared for such a violent disturbing story to be included. So disappointed in my favorite authors for being a part of a book with that kind of writing and no warning!! I have no idea if there are other stories by other authors I’m not familiar with who wrote disturbing stories as well. Cannot recommend this book.

Can't wait to read all of these.

Dark Embrace - Elle Boon - SO worth the wait!! Jenna, Lucas and Damien are finally going to get their happily ever after...but not till after a few bumps or so in the long road. There are some family surprises, tears both happy and sad, and many laughs. This is a wonderful beginning to a new series that I am positive I will fall in love with, and pretty sure you will too. Just remember, "Don't look down." :P

If you like shifters of all kinds and paranormal, you're going to love this anthology. And the fact that it's helping out animals makes it so much more special. I've only read a few of the stories but I do have plans to read more of them. Elle Boon is a favorite of mine and her story is one I love!!!! Loved it!!

Brilliant anthology.
This review is for: Mia Harlans: Her Donut Shifters:
Brilliant read. Jetta is struggling with her Neighbours. We all have that one thing which we are unable to tolerate, and for Jetta this happens to be Donuts and what should open its doors in her neighbourhood but a donut shop which is invading her happy place.
Brilliant read.

This was a nice set of short stories. I was happy that each one had a page telling you what the story was about.

Spooky Simmons' Sing Along Songs by Jessa Lucas was my favorite. It was snarky and unexpected. I loved the idea of being to infuse magic into your art. It was thoughtful when dealing with emotional trauma and grief.

This is a wonderful collection of short stories and novellas. I didn't read them all, but the ones I did read were great overall. However, there were some editing issues in the stories that I read which was a big distraction for me. I mainly bought this book for Pepper McGraw's Unbearably Cute which I loved, and because proceeds were for a good cause.
