When Harry Bauer’s holiday is cut short by COBRA, it is not just to send him on a routine job like any other.
A cargo, classified as above top secret, which was being transported in a container truck, from the Groom Lake testing grounds in Nevada to the Navy Shipyards in Norfolk Virginia, has been hijacked and stolen. There is no trace of the hijacking, nobody knows exactly where it took place, and nobody knows where the container has been taken. And that is not all, the container was being transported by a Delta Force team who were the best of the best and above suspicion.
Harry Bauer is not a detective, he is an assassin, but his boss, the brigadier, is pretty sure he knows who is behind the hijacking, and he wants Harry to go to Marbella in Spain and taking him out.
At first it looks pretty straightforward, until Harry decides that his shortest route to his target is through the beautiful and mysterious Rafaela Omeya…
USA TODAY and Amazon #1 bestselling author of the OMEGA and DEAD COLD MYSTERY series. Learn more about Blake Banner at his website: www.blakebanner.com
Unfortunately, this book fails to deliver a coherent and engaging plot. The story starts with a mysterious hijacking of a cargo, which seems promising but then quickly becomes confusing.
The main character, Harry Bauer, is tasked with assassinating a gangster named Omeya. However, the plot takes a sudden turn when Omeya's daughter Rafaela enters the scene, and the story starts to revolve around her. The original assassination plot also changes to a hostage rescue mission of school kids, making the story even more convoluted.
As the story progresses, the plot keeps jumping back and forth between the assassination of Omeya, the rescue of the school kids, and Rafaela's involvement. The author tries to do too many things at once, resulting in a confusing and incoherent storyline that makes it difficult to follow and enjoy the book.
Overall, Blood of the Innocent is a disappointing read. The author's attempt to include too many plot twists and turns ends up creating an unsatisfying and confusing storyline. I expected more from this novel, and I hope the author can deliver a better plot in their future works.
Always a good character and Blake brings a worldly culture to the story with the contrast of killer v high society but I’m feeling like everyone is taking turns copying the same story’s arc’s. Blake is great because of how fast he writes and for folks who read insistently like myself it’s new fodder but I think the pressure to meet expectations of loyal readers I.e turn around time, character progression and new creative arcs is taking a toll on the readers and writer.
Another great read in the Harry Bauer series. I have read all the books in order and have never been disappointed. I really enjoyed the twists and turns in this book, as well as all the action. I very much look forward to the next book. A big thank you to the author Blake Banner and from me a well deserved 5 stars ⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Not up to the high-bar standard set by Harry Bauer. Starts strong with clever theft of proprietary weapon, but then devotes too much time to bus hijacking which is a weak story line. Resolution of stolen weapon would be more interesting, less meandering focus. Ending is clever twist. Adequate read for Harry fans but definitely not his best days.
This was a scary one! I thought Harry was to die! Before I get distracted, why are the characters in this book smacking their lips after they drank something????? It's making me crazy!! Great books....wonderful details about everything from people to colors of skies, rocks, streams etc.
Just as always by Blake Banner ,adventure after adventure ,his books are page turners as one who follows this writer he never disappoints , I'm looking forward to his next book..
I just absolutely love this series . Harry is always there to finish the job. No matter how badly hurt he is. Total team player. Can't get much better !!! 10stars plus !!!! Thanks, Carl Clause
It’s hard to put a good guy down despite all the hard knocks. Harry gives more than he takes, and proves it over and over. Banner is one great story teller and once again proves it.
How does Banner do it? Even after 12 books you are still intrigued with Harry Bauer. Yes there are similarities in each book. But to me that makes the characters real. Harry likes hot cold hot showers. Many of them lol. Love it. On to #13.
Banner has become my favorite thriller writer. This Book is another winner, superb and engaging text, excellent plotting and suspense on the edge. A great talent. Harry Bauer a complex but standout character. Highly recommended!!!
One of the best Kindle Unlimited ebooks I have read lately. Harry is a complicated character and his actions inspire the belief that we are in control of our own destiny. We just have to push on through no matter what.
Fast paced and action packed. Even if you think you know what's coming, you get a surprise. And there is that dry, almost camouflaged wit, that has you coughing on your corn flakes.
Gripping story with lots of action. No disappointment on this reader. Harry is quite a character! Looking forward to the next story . Have read them all!
As always Harry is complicated. Never ending action and suspense, a real Jason Bourne. Story is always multi-plots and you never know who the bad guy is.
"Blood of the Innocent" is a great read. Banner has turned Harry Baur into a James-Bond-like character portrayed so well by Daniel Craig. Harry gets bruised & battered during this tale as he plots to rid the world of a protected mega-rich criminal. A top-secret US military device is highjacked bad guys trap innocent school children in a bus rigged with bombs to force Spain to allow that stolen cargo to pass thru its ports. Enjoy!
