Living Past: Vikings #0

The Jarl and the Stranger

Rate this book
Welcome to Living Past, the world’s first tourism-based time travel company. Understand the culture, the politics, and the people who shape the world as it is today. Live the Past.

Lily

When I graduated with my doctorate, I couldn't believe my luck. Instead of scrambling for a job in academia, I landed a job with some of the top minds in time travel technology. Little did I know that three months in, I'd be bored out of my mind. That's the only way I can explain what I did.

I shouldn't be in the past and I certainly shouldn't be trying to convince Jarl Harald to leave, but it's the only way to confirm what my theory. I expected convincing him to be hard. What I didn't expect is for him to be charming, handsome, and someone I don't want to leave behind.

Harald

I was a boy when I became Jarl. Thirty years later, I am tired, bored. My spirit aches for something more, and late one night, after a long day of leading my village, I find her. She won't tell me where she came from or why she's here but it doesn't matter. My only concern is keeping her near.

The Jarl and the Stranger is a Time Travel Viking Instalove Romance novella and a fast-paced 90 minute read. The Jarl and the Stranger is a prequel to The Viking and the Raven.

Sweet but confusing?

The love was sweet between the MMCs and the writing was decent, but I’m still confused by literally everyone’s motivations except maybe the jarl lol.

Very Enjoyable Story!

This was a very good book. Short as it was I enjoyed reading it. Very interesting characters and the storyline is not new to me as I’ve read another book like this. I wish there was more of it though. On to my next book. 💜💜💜💜💜

Very Enjoyable

A delightful novella which give a good introduction to the Living Past Series. I'm pretty sure we will love reading about the future travels of Lily and Harald. Gotta love those Vikings.

I'm free

I gave this book 2 stars purely because my adventure in tedium is finally over. I've read all 6 short novellas, all of which have little content, little spice, little anything of note.

Don't bother.

Quick Read

This was a nice quick read. It held my attention for the duration of the story. I enjoyed the characters and the world created. Definitely good if you want something short and sweet.

This was a very quick read which appears to be setting the scene for the other stories in this series. Overall I really enjoyed the book as I have never read a story like this before. I felt it was a mix of Assassins Creed mixed in with romance and vikings.

Looking forward to reading the others.

It's a solid, like 2.5 stars rounding up. I'm mildly confused on some details, but overall, it's a decent enough short story.

If it wasn’t so short, and had more character development it would be better but I did enjoy it :)

The book was great. It was for my own taste a bit too short, it could have been a bit longer (so the pace would been a bit slower). But for a short read: It was perfect. The idea and the execution were good (please, the idea was everything!!!). I got to admit, there was an aspect I hated. It was how fast he fell in love with her and how much he trusted her (the same counts for her). They could have build their relationship a bit more deeper than this I-fell-in-love-with-them-immediately-and want to-spend-every-second-with-them-even-though-I-don‘t-know-anything-about-them "trope". Otherwise, I liked everything else. I would recommend the book, if someone wanted to read something quick.
