Vincent Donnelly has faced pain, death, and madness. His past is a haze of fractured memories. A host of restless spirits inhabited his tortured psyche once. He has inherited their powers, their magic. But all he wants is to be free of the nightmares that plague him.
Fleeing from the confines of a demonic asylum, Vincent and his allies take refuge in a remote mountain cabin. Lost, wounded, unable to access his supernatural abilities, Vincent struggles to sever the link between himself and the personification of Chaos itself.
But it is not so easy to destroy. This sinister entity has created a host body of its own… A body that looks exactly like Vincent.
Hunted by this dark replica and its monstrous creations, Vincent and his friends are forced into a bloody struggle for survival. But a powerful ally awaits—a being that could end the double's chaotic reign once and for all.
Assuming Vincent can survive long enough to find it…
I somehow had the idea that the previous book in this series (Book 5) was the last of the series. I failed to forsee the events that take place in Book 6. This one neatly wraps up the storyline and answers a lot of the questions I have had since the start. Ian Fortey is beyond a doubt one of the most imaginative authors I've read, and I've read a bunch. He built a world that is once fascinating and horrifying. I would recommend reading all of the books in this series in order and not allow too much time to lapse between them. It can be easy to lose track of the players and plotlines, especially with the earlier books. I grew to love this series. The characters are flawed but ultimately likeable. The conclusion is satisfying. All in all, A highly recommended series.
DARKNESS FALLS is Book 6 in the electrifying, out-of-this-world, JIGSAW OF SOULS Series from wildly imaginative author Ian Fortey, who has successfully built new worlds like never before, seamlessly cohesive and very believable. I've enjoyed all the Series, and I think possibly DARKNESS FALLS may be the best, as the riffs played on the themes of Chaos and Order and Balance delve far into the realms of Metaphysics and Philosophy in ways that most definitely boggle the inquiring mind. I plan to take some time to reread the entire Series in consecutive order, savoring it.
It didn't end in a way I would have expected, which is apt (it'll make sense if you read it). I'm satisfied though. Very clever, great suspense and creepiness (especially the creepy photos: excellent foreboding and slow creep of sinister atmosphere). I'll definitely be reading more from Ian Fortey in the future.
Awesome job, Ian Fortey! I loved reading this series and am sad that this journey has come to an end. This was wildly imaginative and never had a dull moment! I can’t wait to read more books from you!
I was given this advanced copy of this book and I'm willingly leaving this honest review. I really enjoyed this book and this Author he writes so well its as if you are part of the story and get a visual loved it.
Vincent still cannot remember who he is, and while he is doing his best to keep himself and his friends alive, Fix seems to be bent on destroying them all.
I absolutely LOVED this book! I am sad to see this series ending, but it was a good end, with all the loose ends tied up. Fabulous series!
The most horrific road trip in history is coming to the end, and things are not looking good for our band of heroes. Facing off against Chaos itself? Surprises galore await, and some brutally gruesome encounters with ghosts as well.
