Re-read 10/25/25. DNF. MC h’s denseness is annoying, as is how all of the other characters treat her. I’m done with this series. Demoted to 3 stars.

Not as enamored with this volume. Lean and Grace are SUPER mean to Cecilia and I wouldn’t call Lean my BFF if I was Cecilia. Lean is way too self-centered and doesn’t seem to really care much for Cecilia. Though I DO want to know who Cecilia’s favorite is. So I will keep on reading and will re-read the first book to see if I can get a hint of the fav from it. 4, solid and I want more answers, stars!

Another successful continuation of Cross-Dressing Villainess Cecilia Sylvie!
description

I absolutely love how this light novel has progressed. While it uses a lot of stereotypical troupes, it sets them up in such a way that it feels fresh and new. I love Cecilia's relationship progression with Oscar, and it suddenly dawning on him that *(He may be Bi) he definitely is in love with Cecil/Cecilia. Meanwhile, I'm becoming more and more uncomfortable with Cecilia's relationship to Gilbert. Are they step-siblings? I honestly can't remember, but his demands of her are getting a little. . .

Lowkey, I want Gilbert for myself. >_>

I love that Cecilia is smart, just not emotionally intelligent; it does a lot to set her apart from the Katarinas of the villainess subgenre. I'm also impressed with how much Lean sucks as a friend, but that's rather a different thing.

Cecilia is a totally dummy when it comes to her actual situation but not quite as dumb as Katarina Klaes. I laughed at all the nonsense but it loses a star because her so-called best friend is a self serving s**tbag. She's as toxic as any bully and her constant gaslighting of Cecilia makes her worse than an outright bully. And that's where it loses the second star. I despise that no one can put that sgitbag in her place. And the new girl Grace is no better. Poor Cecilia has really no true allies.

This is honestly so dumb, but the best kind of dumb.

As one could expect from a main character who believes cross-dressing could save her from impending doom, Cecilia continues to be wild and unpredictable in the second volume. Which, unfortunately for Gilbert and Oscar, leads to a lot of problems caused by raging teenage hormones. There's a smaller focus on character introductions compared to the previous book, since Cecilia is now familiar with most people who have made appearance so far. Only two of the otome game's love interests remain unknown for now, and Cecilia doesn't seem interested in them either so we learn nothing about them except for their names.

This book focuses on a new love interest, Mordred, and the potential disaster waiting to happen in his otome game route. Cecilia spends the majority of the book getting to know him and his comatose sister in the hope of avoiding the Holy Maiden role, only to find out that the truth isn't even close to what she expected. She does, however, gain a new transmigrated friend who's basically just a different species of Lean. If Lean is into writing BL, this one is really into voice actors… thus adding to the many categories of otome game fandom.

Compared to the previous volume, this one also gives Gilbert a little bit more spotlight than Oscar. It may also give him a little bit of hope. Just a little bit. Because Cecilia is Cecilia. Lean is hinting that Cecilia, in her previous life, does have a favorite character in the game, but since she's… like that… I honestly can't predict where they're going with this LOL.

Looking forward to the next one!

This volume was really good! I liked the pacing, the story, the characters and the twists! It really delivered in what it strove to be, and didn't try anything too crazy with itself. This made me like it even more. Really solid second part, might be even better than the first one, if I do say so myself. The fact that Bernard was made to be hated, and Dr. Mordred turned out to be the killer was really nice. Cecilia is as dumb as always, Gilbert is VERY sus with his supposed sister, Oscar is having a sexuality crisis nad nothing is really going to plan.

I still stand by the fact that Lean and Grace kind of suck.

Adiós.

After thoroughly enjoying the first book, I instantly bought the second and... it's okay. The first half was a little hard to read, what with the characters I loved in the first volume acting inconsistently with how they were before this new volume, though the second half was a lot more in-character and exciting. But, not enough to make up for the lackluster beginning. I'm not sure if I'll continue this series on, but if I do I hope the relationships and characterizations lean more towards the first volume than this one.

I can’t wait for volume 3! Nuff said. I have no clue as to what other adventures they could have in the next volume but I’m super excited for it. I know for a fact that there are still two(?) guys who have yet to be introduced if I remember correctly but yep. Again, can’t wait. Especially not with that big misunderstanding at the end. And Oscar didn’t even seem to think it would turn into a misunderstanding 😂

I encountered some things I consider to be plot holes, but overall the story is enjoyable! I feel like this would be a great anime.
