I mostly enjoyed this book. There are some laugh out loud moments here and there. However, Fia wasn't very saint-like in this volume. There were no major uses of her power. Sutherland's embracing of her as a Great Saint wasn't based on anything that she as Fia did. She has red hair and amber eyes. She knows Saint lore. Bingo! She's the Saint. Volume Three made Fia feel like a tourist in her own life, her past accomplishments carrying her forward. Fia exasperated her commanders. Fia got along with children. Fia went shopping. Fia was abducted by brutes, but in a stunning display of stupidity, she goes along with them. There's a fight. A side character tries to save her, but lo! He is not who he seems! It's him! He's the one! Forget about the sick. Forget about Fia! To be continued.
Over all, there were three elements that diminished my joy by the time I finished this light novel. 1) Fia is a 16yo drunkard who is willfully stupid. I like a ditzy girl as much as the next person, but this goes beyond ditzy. Fia is deliberately stupid so that she can accidentally move the story along. This obstinate cluelessness in a main character is a trope in light novels. She is merely a plot device at times, not a character. 2) The actual story ended halfway through the book. The rest of the book was filled with side stories. I don't mind side stories, but dislike it when they comprise almost half of a book, especially when the story wasn't actually resolved. Was this a cliff hanger? It felt like the main story was interrupted instead. 3) The side stories are often written better than the actual story. My guess is that the side stories were written at a later time. You might think that a side story being written better than the main story would endear me to the side stories, but when I'm emotionally invested in seeing the main story resolve, side stories, no matter how well they're written, come across as distractions or filler.
All that being said, I do like Fia as a character. She is often enjoyable to read. I'm interested in the overarching plot, and I do want to see how the story ends. I would've preferred more magic in this volume, and less tourism. However, the side stories did expand the story with background and details from the past. Maybe next time we'll get more present day story.
Fia is so stupid that it’s embarrassing to read about her sometimes. The author seems to have decided that she’s got zero history knowledge during this lifetime, so she doesn’t know the most basic information. Everything she knows is from 300 years ago, and it was quite different.
You’ve got the usual author ignorance, which has things like Cyril going on this visit while dressed in fancy noble clothes (to reflect his attending as a representative of the royal family) but he’s wearing his military badge and medals all over. It’s one or the other - why would you wear your medals on civilian clothes?? Are you representing the military or what? And Desmond and Zackary get into a squabble about a certain inkwell being thrown, and Zackary’s “proof” that it couldn’t have been thrown by the third person in the room is that he was facing away from the window when Zackary got there. Uh yes. After you ran up the stairs, he was facing away…but how long does it take to turn around?!
There’s a major typo where it keeps switching between Debhe and Dubhe for her previous BIL’s name. Also, what kind of stupidity is it that a clearing out a dragon nest takes precedence over an epidemic that is going to kill off a whole culture? One is an actual emergency, the other is a preventative measure. Esp since her knight captain was mostly able to handle the dragons himself, making it obvious Serafina wasn’t necessary. It’s ridiculous that she’s being scheduled like that - if her powers are so extraordinary, every petty thing doesn’t need her personal attention. Her brothers are so freaking corrupt that it’s a wonder she didn’t expect to be betrayed by the assholes.
Cyril’s parents were assholes and totally in the wrong. I don’t even understand why it was acceptable for his mom to be such a bitch, and his dad just decides to slaughter every islander after she falls off the cliff? Why not the knights that actually have the job of protecting her??
Again with side stories taking up a huge chunk of the book.

The Royalty of this other world exemplifies extreme hubris, ignorance and lack of noblesse oblige "The honorable obligation that is the responsibility of those of high rank (noble birth);it often includes the expectation of benevolent actions such as helping and protecting those less fortunate." It is in essence a part of honor and justice. Why do the nobles treat the Saints (healers) like servants? Why does the author create a world where there is huge injustice, incredible and limitless hubris, and ignorance and huge stupidity? This place urgently needs the guillotine. The first one punished should be the author, then the nobles, then everyone has abused their power and breached their duties. The author changes the point of view with little or no warning. Most of this third volume deals with Serafina's actions and duties. So what happened to Fia Ruud? Why if she can heal, if she can protect, if she has so many Over-Powered (OP) skills and abilities, she is just a bad narrator in this isekai-fantasy (reincarnated in another world) novel series? Although this novel series has already 6 volumes, this novel series is really not going anywhere. Has no main plot arcs, no secondary arcs and is filled with foolish and arrogant people than urgently need to be replaced, tried and condemned.
While I love Fia’s chaos, I don’t love how much story we actually get. I think I’m gonna need to shelve this series until it either has more books or is fully complete. Seriously, you drop that bomb about the reunion then you have a bunch of side stories!? (╯°益°)╯彡┻━┻ I don’t care about side stories!!!
I definitely enjoyed this book the most in this series, so far. Fia’s shenanigans are pretty fun, but I really wanna see more of her past life and the ramifications of her actions during her current life. It’s interesting to see how she deals with the memories and tries to keep her secret. I hope things continue along this line for the rest of the series, but we’ll see how things go
I love this series and I cannot wait to see what happens next!! This book was amazing and we were able to get more of her background as the Great Saint. I wish it was longer though, please release the next book soon!!
I like the side stories, but I like the main story more. Seems like this volume has more side stories than main story. If that's going to be the case, can we get longer novels?
