Savage Wolf is book two in Ginna Moran’s Wolfpacks of Shadow Moon Island. Eliana’s story continues where book one left off. Eliana and what was left of her group were attacked by another pack while in the care of Ravi and his pack. She bowed to him and now he is technically her alpha. But now, she’s in the hands of another, and his plans for her are less than ideal. It seems though that fate is on her side as she is able to escape and find a sense of safety. Her goal remains the same though – escape the island and return to the human world.
I enjoyed book one so much and I was looking forward eagerly to book two. I hate to say it, but book one is better. In book one the characters are adapting and learn to roll with the punches. The author really kept the story engaging with the twists and things rarely going in the characters favor. Now, you can’t go a chapter without things going their way. Do things go perfectly their way? No. But do they usually go in their favor? Yes.
This book is also packed with lots of steamy scenes. Do I mind it? No, I love a good steamy scene. What I would have preferred if there had been some restraint. There is such a thing as “too much of a good thing.” I might have liked it more if it had been more balanced. Eliana is being a brat and thinking that using her sexuality is the way to manipulate the alphas, but hates when they objectify her. She wants to be an alpha, but has selfish thinking. It doesn’t make sense. I honestly rolled my eyes quite a bit reading this book.
While we get some answers with this book, the storyline isn’t as good as it could have been. Maybe less sex, less petulant behavior, less things going in their favor so much, and this book could have been really good. But by comparison book one is better by leaps and bounds. Things need to get back to that unpredictable nature, and the twistedness that made this a series I looked forward to. There is a cliffhanger ending, so we’ll see what happens in book three. I’m rating this book 3.5 out of 5 stars.
