While visiting a London cemetery, Lillian Crawford and her twin brother Felix are witnesses to a violent crime. When Felix is mistakenly arrested as the culprit, it’s up to Lillian, with some assistance from the handsome Eugene Osbourn, to uncover the truth.
But will Lillian find the answers she needs in time to clear her brother’s name?
Blythe Baker is a thirty-something bottle redhead from the South Central part of the country. When she’s not slinging words and creating new worlds and characters, she’s acting as chauffeur to her children and head groomer to her household of beloved pets.
Blythe enjoys long walks with her dog on sweaty days, grubbing in her flower garden, cooking, and ruthlessly de-cluttering her overcrowded home. She also likes binge-watching mystery shows on TV and burying herself in books about murder.
Hi Blythe, I read almost all of your series and have enjoyed them. Until I came across Lillian Crawford. I did read all six books but I can't say why. I tried to count how many times she smirked, snapped, glared or yelled at everyone around her. Friend, foe, brother and love interest. Her first reaction to anyone and everything around her is anger. To me, just a hateful person and not at all likable. I like to like my heroines.
I’m still not that enamored with Lillian as she’s just too quick to be angry and has some anger issues herself and I don’t know why, it’s never been explained but after 6 books I thought by now the author would’ve explained it. I’m getting tired of it but I do like this author so I’ll just keep reading her novels but this set of workings are my least favorite so far. That being said she does solve mysteries rather quickly.
These books are quite predictable and I believe this is the last one I am going to read. I find Lillian to be very annoying even though she is suppose to be the star, the heroine.
There’s always a combination of backstory and mystery in the writing. Blythe Baker is one of my favorite cozy mystery writers, and she keeps her plots exciting and rewarding. I was surprised to see the removal of Felix, Lillian’s brother at the end of this story. Perhaps it’s to free up the story of Lillian. She may potentially have more adventures that couldn’t involve her brother, but may involve her new romance.
When Lillian has to prove her brother innocent of murder all bets are off. Thank goodness she has the he!p of Cousin Richard and her beau Eugene. Will she solve the murder in time? And afterwards if she does and her brother goes back to America, what will she do?. Then there's Eugene....
