Where Black Pine Road ends and the forest begins, a house waits, cold and empty. Rumors of dark spirits keep the people of Mahihkan away from the sole property and the quiet path that leads there.
When aspiring writer, Lee Thorne, arrives in the small northern town, she knows nothing of its secrets. She sees the isolated house on Black Pine Road as the perfect winter getaway to write her first book. Hoping to leave the chaos of the city behind, Lee rents the long-abandoned home from its haughty landlord, Will Ashmore, though, even he refuses to step through the front door.
As autumn turns to winter, Lee braves the harsh conditions but struggles with the nightmares and paranoia creeping into her life. Electrical disturbances and shadowy figures haunt the halls of Lee’s new home, making her question what is real. Then she hears it—a voice hissing, “You’re mine!”
Has Lee gone mad, or has the seclusion she desperately sought turned into a waking nightmare? The demons of her past and present have come to light, and Lee must fight them both or watch everything she loves go down in flames.
WARNING: Black Pine Road contains scenes of domestic violence that some may find disturbing.
I want worlds written on the backs of dragons, in the moors of the Scottish highlands, and in the shadowed halls of a haunted house. I want to get lost in a pen-and-paper universe, have a great adventure, and never return. -Christena Rose
I was captivated from the first few pages, and it just got better from there. This slow burn, paranormal fiction is every horror fans dream, it has it all. You will be rooting for Lee as she battles her inner demons, as well as the demons she encounters on Black Pine Road. It's the perfect winter read, highly recommend this book!
I was hooked from page 1. The descriptions of the characters and the surroundings painted an eerily creepy story. The story was so strong, I couldn't put the book down. The use of quotes from the main character, a writer, between chapters was an excellent addition to the story. An excellent ghost story that I will recommend to everyone!
I loved every word of this book from the moment I started it. How it could possibly be heartwarming and terrifying at the same time is beyond me, but it was. I shed tears and had horror shivers at different times during this read. It had some familiar feelings for me and I adored it to the forest and back. Thanks for another fabulous read Christena Rose! And beautiful artwork on the book by the author as well. Such a talent.
This is an incredible book! I couldn’t put it down! I was on the edge of my seat! Well written and very intriguing! The author paints a beautiful picture that I found easy to visualize. Great story! Highly recommend!
Black Pine Road was a great read, I couldn't put it down. I love the author's descriptive writing. You could feel the cold fear through the main character Lee. Got chills more than once!
I tried to give this Author another go but the writing is just very hard to read. The storyline is predictable and is a cheap copied version of Connor Greene
