Le Zhi, the little princess of country Li, is charming and beautiful, and she looked like a begonia.

However, once her country was destroyed, she crawled out of the hell on earth by stepping on the bones of the dead and was brought back to the enemy’s country Qi by Huo Xu, a childhood sweetheart and a thankless wretch, who had entered the country Li as a prince sent to be held as a hostage from a young age.

Huo Xu looked at her with affection, “Zhizhi, help me bring the Crown Prince down. You will be my only Empress in the future.”

Le Zhi pretended to put down her blood feud and smiled to agree.

Huo Du, the Crown Prince of the country Qi, looked like a banished immortal but has a disability in his right leg. He has a sly and ruthless personality with insanely evil behavior.

One day, his imperial father bestowed him a marriage and gave him the princess of the subjugated country.

Huo Du sneered one after another. Huo Xu’s childhood sweetheart? Beauty trap? Tut-tutted, his imperial younger brother was really willing.

He raised his hand to stroke lightly the white cat on his lap, “Oh, you have a toy.”

Huo Xu was a person with a noble and benevolent character on the outside but with an insatiable greed for power, position, and beauty on the inside.

The position of the Crown Prince, his beloved childhood sweetheart… All these were within his grasp.

He was very satisfied.

And his imperial elder brother curled his lips and handed the knife to his sweetheart and said with a smile, “Kill him. You can stab as many knives as you want.”

While he was frightened, he saw Huo Du turn the tip of the knife towards his heart and slowly said to Le Zhi, “Or do you want to kill me first? That’s fine too…”

Huo Xu’s eyes trembled. Did he hear it wrong, or his imperial brother is crazy?

A good historical novel, though exaggerated at times. I did give the author benefit of the doubt often, but enjoyable nonetheless. The character settings were pretty good but it wasn't fleshed out as well as it could've been.

The Male lead's mother, Chu Yu, deserved better and I would've liked it more if Huo Du came to accept the difficulties his mother had to go through.

Yin Changsuo deserved better. I hope they meet in different dimension and get together.

Fang Yin and the female lead's brother deserved better. True, he made a mistake once in his life and that doesn't make him a bad person. If they had a fresh beginning, I am sure it wouldn't be a tragedy.

And thank God, there's some conclusion to Zhao Henqi, I mean he deserved much better than the cards he was dealt with. I really felt bad for him. Everyone thought of him as a villain but he always protected his sister🥺🥺🥺

That was a good read. No rebirth, no transmigration, no system, the main character was simply someone trying hard to stay alive.

Main character was very good for this story. At the start she was desperate to stay alive, every move and words calculated to help her survive, with no sincerity on her part. As the story went, there was a gradual shift into having her showing more of her true self, so it never felt abrupt. I also liked how she kept with her struggle about loving her family's enemy until near the end. It made it more believable, rather than having her suddenly give up everything just because she fell in love.

ML was an interesting character himself, although it's a bit boring how he always had everything under control, that he always had a solution for everything.

I liked how it handled the side characters. A character looked like it was set up to be someone who's constantly jealous of the MC, but that turned out to not be the case. She even joined hands with the MC once she figured out how hopeless her situation was.

Plot and world building was OK, but the story really shone just on the interactions between the 2 leads.

Some side characters were introduced just for a scene and never mentioned again until the end, which was a little surprising. I thought they were going to play a more prominent role.

A story that started with hatred and ended with eternal love and happiness.

Le Zhi was the third princess of Great Li until her fiancé betrayed her country for Great Qi. She suddenly lost everything in her life — her family, her country, her people. And now she was going to get married to the crown prince of Great Qi, a true shame. But, dignity couldn't bring back her parents, now she only had one reason to keep living — revenge.

Hou Du was the crown prince of Great Qi. He couldn't use his right leg due to a past incident. They said he was cold and ruthless. But, he was most ruthless to himself. He was indifferent to the world until she came. She was the light in his dark life. Just like her, revenge was the only thing that kept him. In this journey of revenge, he wanted to keep her by his side, only if she wanted to.

I really love their story — full of pain, full of hatred , full of blood, but at the end of the day, they only wanted one thing — to be with each other and to live happily. It was just that they couldn't back away from this path of revenge anymore.

• A xuanhuan without any tropes like soul-switch or time-travel or even transmigration.

• Miraculously, the female lead isn't little Miss do-it-all. The read wasn't superficial since she made mistakes which made her seem quite relatable.

• Caring, like-to-be-left-alone male lead who doesn't give a damn about anyone or anything except his “clingy spirit”.

• Added bonus - the ending is not what you would expect these kinda novels to have.

• The reason I didn't couldn't round off this novel's review at 5 stars is because I could not decide if I loved that the villains were so dumb that they got wiped off so easily, saving the readers a massive bore of court politics or whether it was disheartening that potential of the leads was wasted.

So if I had to sum-up my feelings about this - fabulous leads but boring as heck villains.

I'm sick so I don't feel like writing a review

I loved his character, despite him being crazy, he was a sweetheart. My poor traumatized baby. So incredibly thoughtful, and intelligent.
She on the otherhand, I started to dislike as the book went on. Maybe I'm just mean, but like why are you crying so much? At the start it was justified but as it went on I was just like girl why do you be sobbing so much. I guess it's just her personality, i just wasn't a fan. I didn't really understand her as a whole. Like her attitude and thought process did make much sense to me sometimes. The plot was decent. I kinda wish it was more in his POV for more insight on his schemes. I wanted to know more on how his mind works, he's so cool.

This book is an ok read if you enjoy palace intrigue. But there are a few flaws in the text. MC began her story as a strong female lead and then suddenly turned into a crybaby, it was rather annoying. Also it would've been great if we learned more about ML's twin sister and the accident that caused her death and his injury. Also his other sister seemed like a great character, but wasn't flushed out properly and was only mentioned as an afterthought in additional chapters. It would also be great if we learned more about ML's parents, his master and empress backstory. But I guess that happens, when you have loads of good character and a little "screen" time for them.

All I can say is man. I do not care. I started skimming from chapter 45? Or so.
The main couple suits eachother well, and they’re not really that problematic, so honestly they’re fine. Just boring? The villains are so comically evil that I’m just like?? Who cares?? When the villains are so useless and moreover, just caricatures, it not only makes it so the story has no stakes but also makes the story have no complexity. The side characters are pretty cute though. The guard guy, An-something is right up my alley. Too bad he’s a side character.

I loved this so much! If you want a story with an OTP that is always cuddling and communicating and reassuring one another, this is it. My teeth almost fell out of my head they were so sweet. And the make-outs are *chef's kiss*

Also, get you a man who burns down an entire mountain after you catch malaria from a mosquito that inhabits it.

1.5 mi dispiace è bocciato, non mi è piaciuto per niente. Punto primo non ne potevo più delle incomprensioni e mancanza di comunicazione. Secondo m era così difficile da capire che odiava il padre anche lui e che si potevano mettere d’accordo per il loro piano????

Revenge without going through rebirth... I rated it high cause its my first read with this kind of plot(the revenge without rebirth thing) and I really enjoyed it and with the no miscommunication with the main CP is a plus for me. But yes compared to other revenge novels, this is obviously lacking but still really good❤️

Oh my goodness, what a book! It's been said that the hero in a story will sacrifice his love to save the world but Huo Du will sacrifice the world for Le Zhi.

From the beginning to the end their story was incredible. I can only imagine how much better this book would have been if I could have read it in the original Chinese.

This is definitely one of my most favorite books and will be reread with relish.

If any book should be made into a drama series it's definitely this one.
For Huo Du I could so see Zhang Linghe, Ren Jia Lun, Li Jiu Lin.... Ooooh or Wang Xing Yue

For Le Zhi maybe Zhao Jin Mai, Tan Song Yun, Xing Fei or Bai Lu (I think either of them would do a great job)

And for the main villain Huo Xu I could only picture Liu Xueyi (He would do well from charming to maniacal.)
