No one survives their meeting with the Angel of Death—except for me.

After being accused of rallying citizens to revolt against him and breaking the rules of engagement with demons to save my best friend—guilty as charged on both accounts—the Angel of Death demands to personally oversee my sentencing in his obsidian castle of demons and death.

I’m done for. This is the end. But my death won’t be in vain—I’ll die a martyr to the Paladins Order’s cause, and I'll rescue my best friend at the same time. She’ll be safe and the paladins will pick a new leader. They’ll thrive and continue the fight.

Or so I think. When judgment day arrives and I’m knelt before the Angel of Death, with his onyx eyes, his ebony hair, and his seductively imposing stature, my soul doesn’t leave me.

It soars.

Because when I dare to look the Angel of Death in the eyes, everything changes. And what unfolds in my anger and vengeance’s stead is a thread of events I never could have foreseen.

I survived my meeting with the Angel of Death. But can I survive his love?

OATH-BREAKER is the first of a M/F paranormal demon romance duology full of steamy goodness.

Oath-Breaker by River Starr is the first book in this paranormal romance duology. I like that this book doesn’t end with a major cliffhanger, but it did end leaving me wanting more. I’m looking forward to finding out what happens in the concluding book.

I will admit there is an instant connection between Alya and Lucius, however, I think it makes sense with the ‘fated mate’ trope. I like them as a couple and they progressed through the story very well. The characters have interesting back stories and they they are compelling.

I liked the twist at the end as well. It was interesting and I’m very interested to see what happens next. The world building was great and as I said, the characters were well composed as well. I liked this and would recommend it to paranormal romance lovers!

Okay read

Good storyline but needed more development. Ayla the MFC is a little annoying. She is trying but unsuccessfully fighting the connection between her and Luicus who is using her for his own end. Then boom they are both in love for the right reason. There is a lot of repetitive lines which spoils the story. The author could have developed the story more rather than it being on a relationship repeat with one mate or the other. Sexual content

Having lost her mate in battle, Ayla isn’t going to let her friend suffer at the hands of demons, so she’s off to rescue her…..

The Grim Reaper/the Angel of Death, whatever name you give him he’s still going to take your soul and judge it at the end of the day. But in this story he’s a Demon King.
The war between good/evil, Demons/angels has been written time and again, the spin on this one is Demon/celestials (angels by another name)

The pull between these two characters is almost instant. But she’s was mated before, so she shouldn’t feel the pull as strongly, should she?
And that’s the beginning of their story with Lucius telling her many times that they are fated to be together.
There is reluctancy on both sides as they are suppose to be bitter enemies.

Wow!! What a great read.
I’d not read anything by this author before. But it’s something I’m going to remedy in the near future.
Bringing this book to life (any book in fact) is not an easy task. You have to have flow and continuity, and easy rapport with the main characters, do the additional characters add or detract from the story? Well this author managed all of that with ease. In-depth descriptions had me immersed in this world within minutes.
Holding my breath as the battle between the forces of good and evil became blurred! Smiling as Ayla had her King on his knees, but not before having her on her knees literally before him.

There is both action and romance in this book, and the action is kept at a pretty quick pace. It doesn’t drag on unnecessarily, or try to fill pages.

And the ending, well I wasn’t expecting that!! I can’t wait to see where book two leads us.

I love a good paranormal romance and this one is certainly that. This is the first book in a two-part story, which ends with you wanting to know more, but not in a gratuitous cliffhanger which these kinds of stories sometimes can. It was enough to make me want to read the next book and find out what is going to happen next.

Alya and Lucius make a good couple. There's a lot of instant attraction here, but with the whole idea of fated mates, particularly reluctant ones, I don't mind, it works well. I certainly was keen to see their relationship progress and find out how they are going to come to terms with their differences. There was a little repetition around Alya's coming to terms with what the Angel of Death is to her and how her previous mate fits into all of this. I get that it might take her a while to accept, but I don't think repeating that really helped emphasise the point, sometimes less is more.

The book ended with a bit of a twist. It wasn't a completely unexpected one if I'm honest and I thought that it was going to be what was going on. Even so, that didn't detract from my enjoyment. I'm keen to find out where next for this couple and how they are going to sort out the problems their world faces.

She lost her mate and is now a leader of Paladins. When her best friend is in trouble, she risks breaking the rules of engagement and her own life, just to save her. She offers to take her place and the Angel Of Death agrees. The punishment for the crime is death. She expected that. But what she didn't expect is to find her soulmate, when she looked at the eyes of the Angel of Death for the first time.

Their bond is strong and grows each time they are close, but that is only the start! :)

An awesome paranormal story, about light vs. dark, about good vs. evil and how the line between isn't always clear.

I liked the world created, the characters, and the tension, but that ending, I didn't expect that! :)

Received from Expresso Book Tours, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

The leader of the Paladins Order Ayla’s, best friend was captured by the demons. Ayla will do whatever it takes to rescue her friend even give up her own freedom in exchange for her friend.

Ayla goes to rescue her friend and she is taken by the demons as well. Ayla is sentenced to death by the demon leader for the crimes committed against the demons.

Ayla tries to make a deal with the demon leader. If he will release her friends then she will stay. When Ayla first sets eyes upon the demon something inside her stirs. The demon leader says she is his mate. Ayla says this cannot be true as her mate has passed away.

The more Ayla tries to deny that he is her mate the more the sparks fly between the two. There are quite a few hot scenes between Ayla and this demon. These hot scenes make me wonder if they are anything like the hot scenes between Nadine and Randall Flag in Stephen King’s The Stand. I wonder if the demon flashes like he is made of fire. I would like to see this one on the big screen as I would like to see the graphics on these hot scenes.

The Oath-Breaker was a fast-paced, intense, and hot read with never a dull moment between its pages. I kept seeing this demon as a very hot and sexy dude built like a brick house kind of deal, you know? Can you see him?

While the Oath-Breaker was a slow build-up to that amazing and shocking ending, an ending that I didn’t see happening quite like it did. The Oath-Breaker kept me guessing from beginning to end. I can’t wait to see what the next book has in store for us. To see where the next leg of the journey takes us.

I would like to recommend the Oath-Breaker to all paranormal romance fans! Grab your copy of the Oath-Breaker today!
