Holy starfish! My gosh, these two slayed their first ever rom-com. I was entertained from start to finish. It was spicy and made me giggle SO much! Swoon worthy for sure!

Katie was set to go on a 14 day cruise with her boyfriend to celebrate her sister's last hoorah vacation before her big day. Only her boyfriend was kicked to the curb because he was a cheating douche. Her loving sister was able to find a spot for her on the ship with such short notice. Beggers can't be choosers, right?!

Well, she happens to be bunking with the hot playboy Dominic. Her nemesis. Her savoir? Her one?
After he has a run in with her ex boyfriend Barrett the game changes and Dominic has bigger shoes to fill than just a roommate to a woman who has always kept his attention. Who makes him hard by her banter alone.

Holy glitter, these two had so many over the top, hilarious antics happen to them. I was laughing so hard! If I wasn't giggling, I was swooning SO much! Everyone deserves the devotion of one Dominic Price. Like, seriously!

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4.5)
Trope: fake relationship, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, romcom
Angst: 😱😱

Great, laugh out loud read! You Kissed Me First is the first romcom by the writing duo that makes up Cala Riley and they totally knocked it out of the park! This book had me rolling on multiple occasions to the point where I was forcing my hubby listen to me read portions out loud to him, lol. We all have a friend like Katie and I absolutely adored her. Slightly neurotic. Embarrasses easily and likes to play it safe. And Dominic is way out of her safe zone, but she's willing to try when he steps up to help her out with her ex fiancé by pretending to be her boyfriend on a cruise they're all on.. What Katie doesn't know is that Dominic has had a long time thing for her and he's all in for forever - right from the beginning of their "fake" relationship. He has 14 days to convince her that it's real.

This isn’t fake for me. It never was.

For anyone who follows my reviews, you know I’m not a romcom girl. Like at all. But when I tell you, everyone needs to read this book this summer, I mean it. Cala Riley killed it with the humour in this book!

You Kissed Me First is the perfect summer read.
I don’t think I’ve laughed like this is a long time. The shenanigans of Katie had my stomach hurting so much because some of the things that happened on this cruise were epic!

If you love fake dating, enemies to lovers, forced proximity romances with all of the sexual tension then this is the book for you.

This was such a fun and sweet read! It would be so fun to go on a two week cruise before your wedding with your bridal party.
Katie doesn't want to go after the grooms brother and her broke up. But the brides her sister soooo she has to.
Dominic the best man and grooms best friend pretends to be her boyfriend to protect her from her nasty ex. But there's more there than a fake relationship. And dang it's really steamy. And there's starfish.
Dominic is the hot groomsmen we all need. He was such a sweetheart and so not what she thought and assumed.

Thank you greyspromo for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.

Arc review for You Kissed Me First by Cala Riley

Wow this book was such a good time I loved it so much giggled pretty much the whole way through. This was Cala Riley’s very first romcom and I cannot wait for another because this was so good and was the perfect palette cleanser. Very different from all the other books I’ve read from them so far.

You Kissed Me First is a romcom featuring fake dating, insane chemistry and spice with some enemies to lovers mixed in as well. The story follows Katie who after breaking up with her cheating ex is now stuck on a cruise for 14 days with said ex for her sister and brother in laws joined hen’s/stag vacation (talk about nightmare)!
To keep her ex off her back she accepts the offer from Dominic who is one of the groomsmen in the wedding to fake date during the duration of the cruise. Funny thing is these two have never gotten along.

Of course with any romcom nothing goes right for these two haha which makes for the best story throw in some forced proximity and lots of crazy chemistry and spice this was for sure an entertaining read.

🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳

Big surprise here that I loved this book! It had the writing style I adore with these authors, yet it felt so different from their usual vibe, but it suited their first rom-com perfectly! I already want my friends to read their books, but I’m going to recommend this one a little more strongly.

This book was hilarious, and Katie was incredibly relatable; I just loved her. You also can't go wrong with a fake dating trope, in my opinion. Dominic was the ideal fake boyfriend, and you can't help but swoon over him throughout the entire book, starfish injury and all.

During the 14-day cruise for Katie’s sister and fiancé, Grant, to let loose before the wedding, there are laughs, tears, fights, and Grant in full sexy sleepwear. It was a wild ride, and I hope these ladies write more rom-coms in the future.

The cover and the plot plays a big trick on you and makes you think it will be another slow-burn with the pining Hero and "hateful" heroine. In fact it's a short (250 pgs) and spicy book, supposedly rom-com.

Why supposedly? Well, the humor is pretty low and based on constant putting down of either h's ex or vice versa, and MCs bragging about their sex life in front of him or their friends. Some ha ha ha eyeroll moments discussing the Vajazzle - well at least I learned something new, thanks for that! 😅

The book is extremely predictable and full of stereotypical characters:
1) The ex-bf aka the most pathetic person in the world - unfortunately puts the heroine in a bad light, how could she ever date such a jerk???!!
2) Ex's new fling dumb bimbo
3) The Hero - pining after the girl forever, not a manwhore as explained in the beginning, but actually still kinda manwhore with his steady fucks 🙄
4) The heroine - allegedly with the charm of a girl next door; in reality could you explain again Why is he so head over heels for her??

If you need to kill time this will do, but don't expect something special.

Thank you Grey’s Promotion for sending a copy of this book in exchange of my honest opinion.

I believe the plot of this book was truly amazing, however the writing was not for me and I think it’s the reason why I didn’t give it four or even five stars. This has ennemis-to-lovers, fake dating, one bed and forced proximity -all the tropes that gives an awesome mix-. The characters didn’t really hit me, but then again, it must be me. It wasn’t a story I connected to.

To celebrate their upcoming wedding, Katie's sister Nessa and her fiance Grant have booked their entire wedding party aboard a two-week Caribbean cruise. That includes Grant's brother Barrett, who also happens to be Katie's cheating ex. Sharing a tiny cabin with the guy who just dumped her isn't an option, but Nessa won't let Katie back out of the trip either, insisting that she can find her another place to stay. Unfortunately, Katie's new roommate turns out to be the best man, Dominic, whom Katie has never liked. Even though they bicker whenever they're together, Dominic has secretly had a crush on Katie ever since they met and hopes to use their time together on the ship to show her a different side of himself. When Dominic overhears Barrett speaking poorly about Katie shortly after they board the cruise, he immediately comes to her defense and impulsively claims to be Katie's new boyfriend. Can he convince her not only to go along with his plan, but to give him a chance for real?

I really enjoyed this fun, flirty, perfectly steamy summertime vacation romp, which had me laughing out loud more than once. Dominic and Katie had great chemistry and I loved their witty banter. The one thing I would have liked to see is a bit more build up of the "enemies" part of their enemies-to-lovers romance. Why exactly didn't they get along before the cruise, and why was Katie so convinced that Dominic was a playboy? Was it only that Barrett told her negative things about Dominic because he was jealous of his friendship with Grant, or was there something more?

Speaking of Barrett, he was truly awful and there were so many times that I wished someone would push him overboard! However, his obnoxious moments almost always gave Dominic a chance to shine. I loved that he was always so quick to defend her, even though he knew that she could defend herself. I also loved that Dom was the one who fell first and that he was so sure about wanting a serious relationship with Katie. Finally, I loved the way Dominic and Katie took care of each other when they were sick and/or injured.

I recommend "You Kissed Me First" for all contemporary romance and romantic comedy fans. Hopefully Cala Riley will decide to write more rom-coms in the future!

Cala Riley gave us a romcom that you will remember forever. For their first one, I hope that it will not be their last. My stomach hurt from all the laughing I was doing. From the Glory Hills to the vagazzled and the outstanding engagement ring as well as the other laughs that happen throughout. This book is a forced proximity, frenemies to lovers, fake relationship romance that is one that you will want to read in one sitting. It is well written, gripping and such a joy to read.

Can you imagine walking in on your boyfriend in bed with another woman and this is the guy that you have to spend two weeks within the same room on a cruise ship? Well, thanks to her sister, Nessa, Katie is going on Nessa's pre-wedding cruise with the wedding party but she doesn't have to stay with her ex. No, she has to stay with the man that she hates, or does she? Dominic is the playboy arrogant guy that she absolutely hates and now she has to spend two weeks in close quarters, how will she survive? Well because of a little white lie that Dom tells her ex, yes he is on the ship because he is the groom's brother. The lie is that he and Katie are in a relationship and he is the luckiest man. In reality, Dom has liked, no loved Katie forever, but nobody knows. He is in heaven that she is with him and now that she has agreed to go along with this lie, both of their lives change. From treating Katie like a queen to standing up to protect her, Dom is the ultimate fake boyfriend. When the fake line gets crossed, will Katie see that he is the ultimate boyfriend and that she was wrong all along?

I fell in love with Dom right from the start. The way he stood up for Kaite, treated her, told her that she was in the lead for everything that they did and took care of her when other men may have run in the opposite direction. You Kissed Me First is a definite must-read this summer.

Title: You Kissed Me First
Author: Cala Riley
Hero/Heroine: Dominic & Katie
Tropes: Enemies to Lovers/Fake Dating

THE GOOD 😀

This book was pure slapstick comedy. I’ve never known a couple to have so much happen to them in such a short space of time, it had me proper chuckling, and I was reading this on public transport!
Our heroine Katie has not had the best of luck recently; as well as losing her job, she caught her boyfriend cheating. What’s even worse is she now has to spend two weeks on a wedding cruise with this person, as her sister is getting married. Talk about nightmare. To get her onto the cruise, her sister arranges for Katie to share with someone else. Enter Dominic. This bloke had me swooning for days. Despite Katie making him out to be a commitment phobic jackass, he was the complete opposite. Caring, sweet and all about making Katie comfortable, he was the ultimate hero. These pair and their antics had me in stitches and I loved reading about their burgeoning relationship. From stepping on a starfish to a hilarious reaction to allergy medicine, there was never a dull moment in this story.

THE BAD ☹️

Barrett. What an absolute pillock, I would have gladly pushed him overboard. Into the bin he goes. Also, I didn’t really like how rude Katie was to Dominic throughout the first few chapters, she’d made a snap judgement and wasn’t willing to budge on it. Thankfully that wasn’t the case throughout the whole book, but still.

Thank you to the author and @greyspromo for providing me with a copy of this to read. This is my honest review.

Small roundup:
Katie and Dominic end up sharing a room on a cruise ship after Katie caught her ex cheating on her. So she needs to bunk up with someone else.
Dominic is very willing to share the room with the girl he has had a crush on since they met.
Hilarious and funny spicy scenes occur in this feel-good “RomCom”.

Wowwww! Omg! I devoured this book in a few hours! It was so hilariously good!
I thoroughly enjoyed their little antics and bloopers, I laughed so hard with a certain ‘unicorn’ scene that I almost peed my pants. I could already imagine how that went down🤣🤣(no pun intended) hahaha.

Katie- what a spunky and quirky girl. Deep insecurities and scares made her retreat a bit. But she slowly grows into that funny and strong girl she always was!
Dominic- chewy cookie with a crunchy layer. Pretending to be the playboy, while he is in fact just looking for the one.
Their chemistry was amazing! So many funny moments, they just cracked me up.

🌶️ I don’t know how to write them down without spoilers, there definitely are a lot of… going to be.. then not.. 🌶️ scenes are spicy tho! But you just have to read it to catch my drift lol.

Conclusion:
A must read!!!! If you are into romantic, hilarious stories with an awwwwww HEA, then this should definitely be on your reading list!
Awesome book! Will definitely read more of these authors ❤️

This was such a fun rom com to read! I loved so hard at times and swooned at others. It is kinda an Enemies To Lovers then friends to lovers, fake relationship, slow burn, full of sexual tension read. I adored Katie and Dom and her sister and Grant. All the chracters were lovely to read. Except the one, GRANTS BROTHER! I have never hated a character more but he makes for good tension for Katie and Dom that makes it worth it. Even though by the end I would have pushed him off the cruise myself. All the laughs, the friendships, the sexual tension makes then a 5 🌟 read !! 💯

You Kissed Me First is a cute rom-com with enemies to lovers and fake dating. Katie's sister is getting married to Dominic's best friend. She always thought he was just a playboy but he's always a thing for her. When she breaks up with her cheating ex, who is the groom's brother, she needs a new room in the two week bridal party cruise. Her sister gets her a room but doesn't tell her who it is with. Katie is not happy it's Dominic. When her ex says some rude things about her when she's not there, Dominic tells him to stop talking about his girlfriend and leave her alone. So they enter this fake relationship for the cruise and wedding. During the two weeks, they start to really get to know each other and the lines blur. Can they make this relationship real?

Entertaining and spicy this romcom is gonna be the summer delight and is sure to keep you sweating from head to toe. I loved Dominic and Katie's story. He's always wanted her, she's always thought he was a playboy asshole....until she actually gets to know him. Their story is so swoony. And the cruise ship adventures are sure to have you rolling laughing. I'll never think of Starfish or Glory Hills ever the same again!

this was such a cute, chaotic, kinda spicy read! who knew a 2 week cruise could unravel so many things? going into a bridal party cruise after a crappy breakup, while the ex is also going and then landing in a fake dating scheme with the man she thought she hated. i loved the characters in this book! (minus barrett ofc) this would be a perfect vacation read, super easy to get in to. thank you to the author for an arc!

Awww I really enjoyed this book! Dominic and Katie have never really gotten along although Dominic has always liked her. When Katie ends up on a cruise for her sisters wedding and faces off with her cheating ex, Dominic find himself signing up to be her fake bf before he can stop himself. The question is, will they kill each other or will they end up getting along? Or does the cheating ex decide he wants Katie back? I really enjoyed this book.

“You Kissed Me First” by Cala Riley is an absolutely hilarious spicy romantic comedy featuring two characters named Dominic and Katie.

Cala Riley’s writing style was super fun to read! I kept wanting to snicker or laugh out loud, which doesn’t happen to me often when I read!

Dom and Katie’s relationship was strained in the beginning, but they ended up falling in love over the course of the novel - which I was totally here for. 5 freaking stars!

You kissed me first a newbie from Cala riley.

I WILL NEVER THINK OF A STARFISH THE SAME EVER AGAIN! LOL

Katie was set to go on a 14 day cruise with her boyfriend for her sisters pre wedding celebrations. Until she caught him cheating.

After informing her sister she couldn't come, Her sister found a replacement room for her to stay in on the cruise.
But with someone she hated... Dominic price.

I haven't laughed so hard at a book in a while. But this book had me in stitches. I was laugh-crying so bad.
But I had no doubt it would be a good book. Cala Riley know how to produce fantastic books.

This is a hilarious must read rom-com.

I had so much fun reading You Kissed Me First!

This is one of those books that makes you smile throughout the whole thing.

I adored Katie and Dom. Katie was a little shy and reserved, but a true sweetheart. Dom was confident, charming, and delightfully cocky. What I really loved was the development of their relationship. It never felt forced. I felt that spark turn into a flame. And the way he was with her... like she was the only being in the world.

The dialogue was witty, caring, and had me swooning.

This is a must read book!

I really enjoyed Dominic and Katie's story. I had so much fun reading what they're up to day to day on the cruise. But more than that, I loved how they fake dates while developing feelings for one another. Or in Dom's case, he's using this to spend as much time with the woman who he's fallen in love with from the first moment they met. I loved him! He's so amazing. He's really attentive, loving and sweet towards Katie. He really showed himself towards her, to show that he's not the a-hole she thought he was. Obviously, the more time they spend together the more lines are blurred. It felt real between them. Even when I knew it was all fake, I couldn't help but wished they were for real. Only if they communicate though...
