T.O. Smith believes in one thing - a happily ever after.
Her books are fast-paced and dive straight into the romance and the action. She doesn't do extensively drawn out plots. Normally, within the first chapter, she's got you - hook, line, and sinker.
As a writer of various different genres of romance, a reader is almost guaranteed to find some kind of romance novel they'll enjoy on her page.
T.O. Smith can be found on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and now even TikTok! She loves interacting with all of her readers, so follow her!
I was suprised by this story!! It had lots of Aftercare and I felt so bad for the Emmaline.
She was a orphan who was taken to a sex club it was starve and be homeless or work here. So she picked the less of the evils but she was treated like a piece of property. She didn't wanna sleep with anyone but that's what she had to do (it wasn't shown so thankgod). Until she was collared by James the owner of the sex club and he saw her wanted her and was angry how she was treated under his care at the club. There relationship was so good. He was treating her like a equal and I loved that about James. Even if he was mad few times he never abused his power as a bf/dom. There was many problems and some stuff it was around them as a couple. Health wise and kids.. the spice was yummy!!!
I can't wait for his brothers story!!

The premise of this was interesting and I think overall the story was good but for me it wasn't executed well enough to actually enjoy a lot. The story felt like it dropped us in the middle of a scene and characters we were supposed to already know which was annoying as well as confusing. I even went back more than once to double check that this was the first book in the series because it really didn't feel like it.
I pushed on with the story and it did get a little better but there would be times of confusion that popped up again, the random "I lost my memory as a kid" storyline came in and felt so out of place, and the weird constant medical issues in the middle of the story just felt forced to add drama. Even the BDSM aspect of it didn't feel like it was explained well enough and added some questions on how James and his family were in the lifestyle which felt odd. And the whole kidnapping storyline didn't fully make sense?
Overall, I can't say I'll never come back to this series but I don't think it will be right now.
Wow! James and Emmaline burn up the pages, not only with their bedroom and playroom times but also with their absolute love and devotion to each other. James saves Emmaline from being a submissive in his BDSM club and takes her home. He was completely taken with her and did not hesitate to make her his. James was a mafia don and he was a cold blooded killer. But the side he showed only Emmaline, that side was completely amazing - the first time he knelt in front of her was so breathtaking. James was always so loving with her and took care of her. The night he saved Emmaline he promised he would never hurt her and he kept that promise. While Emmaline was sweet and innocent she also had a quiet strength. She loved James with everything she had and she showed James how to love.
Both their childhoods were bad but I think Emmaline's was truly horrible. They both needed someone that would completely accept and love them - and they found that in each other.
This story was dark, emotional, twisted and utterly titillating.
Emmeline’s journey from homelessness to something unexpected was an intense and emotional one that had me completely captivated and hoping that things work out for her in the end. When James shows up and learns about her past and her current situation, he becomes domineering and completely protective of Emmeline. They have an instant connection and chemistry that just oozes off the pages and is utterly panty melting.
This is a well written story with a fantastic and captivating storyline. If you love dark mafia stories with BDSM, controlling, edging, murder and delicious smut, this is definitely the story for you.
In theory, given all of the intriguing hints at certain tropes (Dominate savior, BDSM club activities, kidnapping, submissive praise…etc.) there was so much potential for this book. But sadly I’ll admit, I was severely disappointed.
The tone of this book sounded strange and confusing from the first chapter. Our first interaction with Emmaline implied that we, as the reader, should understand that a certain level of trauma had been accrued. Or even just that she was desperate to make the most of a very unfortunate situation (having been homeless and now being forced into long-term sexual servitude.) Both would be understandable!! But I didn’t feel either of those from the general tone of the book nor from Enmaline herself. Her words were just words, there wasn’t a lot of complex emotion behind them and definitely not a genuine sense of desperation. Her character gave me the impression of a rag doll being led through life, by the hand and not having the means to voice any real opinions on how she wanted to live. I questioned being biased- maybe I just didn’t get the dynamic. But the further I went on, the more I read through her internal dialogue, I came to the conclusion that this particular character was lacking. Perhaps it was just an under developed personality that wasn’t clearly written for the audience. But either way, her responses and or expressions were not that of someone who supposedly suffered severe trauma. Rather that of of a third party writing about an situation and experience that they had not had. (I do not want to undervalue someone’s real world experiences- if that is the case- only express that as a reader I did not feel convinced by the depiction. )
I have read tons of books with quickly evolving plots/story lines but this one seemed underdeveloped and forced.
When reading about a Dominant character (especially a man) I look for characteristics and actions that would support my belief that they were in fact a Domineering personality. If that can’t be found then it becomes hard to believe in the written character. That was how I felt with Stolen Beauty. Real people are complex- when writing a character into existence- those complexities need to be there or they will fall flat. Readers want to loose themselves in books, not be caught up in missing intricacies of the plot.
I hope this doesn’t sound too harsh, writing is complex. And the author has so much potential to create! I hope that this critique can be received well and can be utilized. I look forward to reading any future books!
Cute and fast read. Some strange things though that I don’t really agree with like all the killing while the girl was completely nauseated by the sight and forcing her to watch (unsure of her reactions, a bit too much on the cringe and macho bs but I’ll let it slide this time). Also a bit of a strange story, but still enjoyed it.
Ps: needed some more heat from a BDSM book. Come on spice it up!
I’m not entirely sure exactly how I feel about it.
On the one hand, I thought it was intriguing and I liked the sexual aspects of it.
On the other I thought it lacked a sense of reality and their relationship dynamic was just a hair off in my opinion. Plus it started right in the action with no build up that didn’t allow for much of a connection to the characters.
Let’s talk about the stuff I liked first.
The concept of this book really intrigued me. James, being the head of the family, comes in and claims Emmaline for his own. And he immediately gets possessive, protective and absolutely furious when he realizes how she’s been getting treated by the people who were taking her submission.
I love the way he goes all morally gray alpha, and unalives the people who’ve hurt her.
I also love the way he cares for her. Especially when they have sex. He’s a total pleasure Dom and it was hot to read.
On the other hand. He’s a little choosy about who deserves to be unalived for hurting Emmaline. I mean the first thing he says to her is that he came to see her because his second was bragging about how good she was. But he never even says anything out loud to the guy, even after acknowledging in his head that he had a hand in hurting her too.
Then their whole dynamic. I enjoy it. But I can’t help but feel like it’s just not healthy. And trust me when I say, I know how dumb that sounds talking about a fictional book with all the red flags that I enjoy. But. I feel like this was never addressed in a way that made sense and it sort of bothers me. Emmaline was stolen off the street when she was 18 and then basically pimped out for room and board for 3 years. Then James comes and ‘saves’ her. Though really all he’s saving her from in the beginning is having to submit to multiple people all day, every day.
Here’s what would have made this ‘okay’ in my fucked up head.
So in the book they have a conversation at the end and she mentions not taking homeless people off the street anymore because it’s basically trafficking and then the whole thing is kind of glossed over.
If James had, right as he was falling in love with her, given her the choice to create a life for herself where she didn’t have to submit to anyone anymore, and she had Chosen to stay with him because she wants and needs him, then I’d feel completely okay with the dynamic and we wouldn’t be having this conversation.
But. That didn’t happen.
Then all the problems that kept popping up. They were a bit strange. I didn’t dislike them. But they were mostly medical things and again they were sort of glossed over quickly and I’m not entirely sure they were all that thought out. It felt like the author had a destination in mind for the story, but thought it was too smooth of a ride so she threw in any speed bump she could think of to try and keep it interesting.
I don’t know. The whole thing had a weird ‘in a bubble’ feeling to it. Usually when I’m reading a book I can picture things actually happening in the world, they have a sense of reality to them, even if they’re paranormal or monstrous. The way this started right as their story started, no normal day reflections for either of them, and then had so little interaction with other people or the outside world, made it feel a little surreal.
*sigh* I’m rambling too much about this book honestly. I thought it was entertaining but not fantastic.
I think I might try the next book in the series when it comes out but I don’t have super high hopes for it.
I really enjoyed this. I loved the bdsm aspect, which was shown respectably as the book went on. Now the first two chapters wasnt so hot. James was a wonderful dom but a true idiot when it came to things about his club. Emmaline was a beautiful person who overcame things. I do wish the book had more information.
James is all man… and dom! And Emmaline is as pure and innocent as they come. But together they are fireworks that just go off together in a beautiful way! I love they way they just fit together.
A lot of trigger warnings here… but worth the read if you don’t have triggers (which I don’t!). On to Book 2 and Darren’s story! That looks like it’s definitely going to be 🔥🔥🔥🥵🥵🥵!
Main Characters: Emmaline (22) and James (32) Hot take: OK, so this was really awful. Normally I would have DNFed and given one star, but I LOVE a good dom and sub story, so I stuck with it because of that dynamic. However, this felt like the author had ChatGPT read all mafia and dom/dub stories and make an amalgamation story. It all was very cliche and rushed and awkward? I had high hopes, but this fell short. Also, she told him she loved him because he treated her like an "actual human being". Girl, you need a raise those standards a smidge. Lastly, him being a control freak and having NO IDEA how bad his club was bing run is CRAZY. Spice level: 3/5 1st kiss: 8% 1st actual sex scene: 3% Pet names: Little one, baby Kindle Recap: The story revolves around Emmaline, a woman who was formerly forced into sexual servitude at a BDSM club, and James, a powerful American Mafia Don who becomes her dominant partner. Set in a world of organized crime and luxury, the narrative explores their evolving relationship as James takes Emmaline under his protection. The book delves into themes of power, consent, and healing from past traumas. Supporting characters include James' family members, his associates in the criminal underworld, and staff at his various properties. The setting spans James' opulent estate, his businesses including the BDSM club, and other locations tied to his criminal empire. James initially claims Emmaline as his exclusive submissive, rescuing her from the club where she was held captive. Their relationship quickly intensifies as James introduces Emmaline to a more caring and consensual form of BDSM, while also integrating her into his dangerous lifestyle. Emmaline struggles to adapt to her new circumstances, dealing with the trauma of her past and the complexities of her feelings for James. Meanwhile, James grapples with his own capacity for love and his protective instincts towards Emmaline. As their bond deepens, James faces threats from within his own family. His father attempts to have Emmaline killed, leading to a violent confrontation where Emmaline is forced to defend herself. This incident prompts James to take drastic action against his family members, including killing his mother for her role in the plot against Emmaline. Throughout these events, James becomes increasingly possessive and protective of Emmaline, vowing to eliminate anyone who has ever harmed her. The couple's relationship continues to evolve as they navigate various challenges. Emmaline helps James improve conditions at his BDSM club, demonstrating her growing influence in his life. James proposes marriage to Emmaline, solidifying their commitment. However, their relationship is tested when Emmaline becomes pregnant, knowing James had previously stated he didn't want children. After initial turmoil, James realizes he wants the baby and their family, marking a significant turning point in his character development. The story culminates with James and Emmaline embracing their new roles as parents to their son, Carter Lucas Jackson. They marry and discuss plans for expanding their family further in the future. James reflects on how Emmaline has transformed him, helping him realize his capacity for love and his desire to be a better man than his own parents were. The narrative also introduces James' brother Darren, who is released from prison after ten years and begins to reintegrate into the family's criminal operations. This development sets the stage for potential future conflicts and expansions of the family's empire. The book ends with James and Emmaline committed to each other and their new family, while still firmly entrenched in their dangerous and luxurious lifestyle.

Stolen Beauty, Book 1 of the Jackson Family series, was about (soon-to-be) 22-year-old Emmaline Arnold, a submissive, and (soon-to-be) 32-year-old James Jackson, a Mafia Don. (Not long after he found her, James learned they shared the same birthday.)
Emmaline had been homeless and sleeping on a bench when she was kidnapped and forced to become a daily submissive to both men and women in a BDSM club. This went on for three years and, though some might scoff at her way of thinking, she considered it a blessing in disguise because, as long as she obeyed the rules, she was fed, clothed, and given a place to sleep. When she wasn't at the club, she was being held captive somewhere else.
On one of the occasions when they took her to the club, Emmaline was told she would be in one of the back rooms, a place she'd never been allowed near. She wasn't expecting what happened next. As she was answering her dom's questions, there was some commotion outside the room that sounded like gunshots. She obeyed when James told her to hide behind the sofa and not move until he returned. Once he had entered the room again, he apologized and then took her roughly. Afterward, he informed her she would be leaving with him He wasn't happy to learn that she had been ill-treated and told her that would change with him. (She would later learn he owned the club.)
This book was one of the better examples of a Dom/sub relationship. It included a contract and safe words, the way such a relationship is supposed to work. It wasn't overbearing, and neither of the two main characters was mistreated. The author did an excellent job of representing the BDSM community without giving it a black eye. This couple, though both traumatized as children and young adults, worked well together. They were the perfect Dom/sub.
There was so much angst, drama, and spiciness in this story, and it kept the reader sitting eagerly on the edge of the state with a yearning to learn the outcome of the story. The emotional rollercoaster had more than its fair share of twists and turns. The push/pull between the two main characters wasn't OTT, and even the conflict was perfectly meted out.
The two main characters were fully developed and mature, with a lot of room for growth. A growth that was visible on every page. It was nice to read about a couple that worked through their issues together rather than running away from them.
The book wasn't too long, and the story had just enough darkness to quench even the blood-thirsty fans. There were a few surprises, and the book's flow was free of too many hindrances. The plot was questionable, but not totally off.
I rated this with four stars. I would have given it five, but it was a little bit repetitive, but not overly so. I'm looking forward to reading the remaining two books in the series.

Trigger warnings Kidnapping Sex slaves - forced not willing Gun violence Murder Violence on mfc PTSD TBI Female reproductive health issues
Emmaline was homeless when she was kidnapped 3 years ago. Her choice - a gun to the head or become a sex slave. James heard about her from one of his men. He wanted to see what the hype was about, but before he could, a gun battle broke out. When he comes back for her, he takes her roughly but with care she isn't used to. James takes her home and takes care of her. The truth comes out about his ownership of the club, but then he finds out about all the things going on there that he didn't condone. He was already mad about someone stealing his profits from the club, but to know the submissives aren't being cared for and the girls are getting hurt sets him off. Things get worse when his own father orders a hit on her, and one of his men tries to carry it out. The longer she's with him, the more truth about his life comes out. Will she be the one to open his eyes to the truth? Can she save him the way he saved her?
I'm not sure if this was written as if in a "perfect world" where disease doesn't exist, but it did bother me that there was no talk of medical exams or condoms. I assume all the slaves were probably forced an IUD or shot to prevent pregnancy, but that doesn't mean anything as far as wellness goes. It does talk about her being on birth control, but not what kind. That lack of discussion does lead to issues in the end. I did like that he knew enough to go to her about changes to his club. And him playing Karma for her -*swoon*.
He knew what he wanted and he made sure she knew. She had been used so much she didnt know what real love felt like. Even though he liked to be in control he knew he wanted her to have it all, all the firsts she should have had, but never got to expierence..He lets her take control, he helped her figure it out. He took care of her, loved her and protected her. He was her dom in sessions, but let her take control other times.
He knew he didn't deserve her, but would cherish her for as long as he did have her. She had a rough childhood and after finding that out he made sure she knew she was always safe with him. He did what he had to, to make her see that she could trust him. He eliminated the problem.
This mafia God is everything. 😍 if you like bdsm, mafia romance, and a love where danger has no say. This is the book for you!
Emmeline was homeless when she was dragged off the street and put in the club to served members as a sub for them to do what they wanted. After being there three years, she is brought to a room for a very special member. Next thing she know she is leaving with him and he is keeping her, collaring her.
The more James learns of her treatment at his club, the more he knows he needs to keep her safe, she is his Queen. He will burn it all down if anything happens to her.
This story had everything an alpha male that will do absolutely anything to protect his woman. Remove anyone that would seek to harm her. There is action and tragedy. It so steamy you will need some water. Cannot wait for Darren’s story.
Oohhh I love myself. Dominant, possessive, jealous, protective alpha who is head over heels for his woman. T.O. Smith seems to know just how to write these heroes. I’ve been on a binge of her books these last couple days and have to be disappointed. James was no exception, he was deliciously alpha and all in with his ‘Little one’. The mafia aspect could have been used for a bit more suspense and action in my opinion. All the issues seemed to stem form medical matters. But apart from this minor thing, I gobbled this story up! Couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait to read another of T.O.’s books! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Stolen Beauty is book one of the Jackson Family series of interconnected standalones. I absolutely loved this book…it had me in all my feels!
Emmaline has had a rough life from the very start. When she meets James she isn’t sure she can trust him. James, the Don of the American Mafia, knows that Emmaline is his from the moment he meets her in his BDSM club. He is so good with her as her boyfriend and her dominant.
This book had suspense, twists, secrets, betrayal, action, and spice. This book had me on an emotional roller coaster and I loved it! I couldn’t put this book down and only stopped long enough to eat! It had me hooked! I can’t wait to read books two and three!
James is incredibly possessive, intensely protective and completely obsessed with Emmaline. This is my first book by this author and I'm hooked! When I saw it was a BDSM, mafia romance, I had to give it a shot. I loved how they meet, how he immediately takes possession of her. He slays all her demons and she flourishes under his care. Sweet yet intense and off the charts hot, this was an amazing read. I didn't want to put it down for a second. All the stars for Emmaline and James!
I couldn't read more of this book. The fact she was almost grateful for being kidnapped and raped repeatedly just to get food and a bed was so gross. Her not having really any trauma from that time is weird. The mafia boss hearing she was a good sub and just wanting her without caring his club was the reason she was kidnapped and he didn't care?? Writing wasn't good either.
Wow I think this is one of my favorites book of the year! James is a mafia don. Everyone knows him and is afraid of him. He is a giant teddy bear to her and it’s so cute! If she needs anything he would stop what is was doing to take care of her. He loves her so much and would do anything to make her happy. Emmaline deserves a happily ever after she has been through so much in her life. She is so sweet and caring to people even tho her life hasn’t been easy for her.
Loved it. Good mafia simple dark romance with little bdsm. James is a great boyfriend big teddy bear loved him so much fmc hurt for so much but she is reliable and strong has a strong resilience. She deserved praised for how she could live after what she suffered but l hoped to know more about James past before the accident and the real reason for why her mother do so to him and his brother. I am absolutely going to complete the series
I read one of t.o. Smiths books earlier last year and loved it!! WHY ARE THEY NOT MORE TALKED ABOUT OMG!! James saves Emmaline from continuously having her body used by men and women and vows to protect her at all costs. This book had me from the very beginning and I ended up finishing in one day.
10 year age gap Mafia don, scared submissive Forced proximity He saves her Touch her and literally die Hard bdsm
This won’t be everyone’s cup of tea and that’s ok. There’s a lot I can’t say in this review but I enjoyed this book; read it in a few hours. I liked Emmaline and James and their dynamic, and his care for her. I loved how Emmaline grew more confident and able to expect that not all experiences are bad. James is devoted to her and her alone and that was great to see. HEA! But check your triggers.
Wow. Wow. Wow. Very fast paced. Loads of naughtiness from the beginning.
Emmaline was put into foster care, stolen of the streets to a sex club and hasn’t had the best of lives until James. The owner and the don of the family comes to check her out. Her life changes. But is it for the better? Can james love her?
I can’t wait to read book 2. I need to see what happened to Darren!
So i’ve been in a book slump for about a month or so now and this book brought me back to life. The steam is amazing, the relationship between the fmc and mmc is fricken perfection I love their connection and his pet name for her??? SWOON!! If you were on the fence about reading this i’m telling you, you definitely should!
While this was a good read. I found myself getting bored. I felt like so much just kept happening to her but not much as a couple. They grew but not in the way I typically like to see.
If bdsm amazing Dom and sub, plus fast paced insta love is what you like then this is definitely the book for you.
I quite enjoyed it!! I found it more romantic/sweet than mean, rough or typical BDSM (say like the next book😉) 🔹BUT to each their own!!🔹 The love he has for her is just amazing, considering he’s supposed to be a heartless Don! 💋💋💋💋💋 And she’d happily burn in hell just to stay by him in hell was sweet ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Our group read this book as part of our romance chat. Some folks adored it while others detested it. Everyone did agree that it is a fast read but there were concerns about the disrespect to past trauma and the bdsm lifestyle. While the story starts with intensity, it quickly becomes evident that too much is being squeezed into a short book.
This book throws you right in. No backstory on the characters. It feels like it’s missing the first 10 chapters of the book. Then when she gets a backbone, out of of no where she starts freaking out. The book is missing so much and I DNFd at 51%
Y’all, don’t sleep on this book!!! I just want more and more and more and more!! I have been in a month long slump. I read this in 5 hours!! It’s sooo good!! Thank you, T.O. Smith!!!!
