When you’ve shared a kiss with your best friend and it blows your mind—and other parts of your body—it’s inevitable that everything changes.
That’s the way it now is with me and Jayden Moore, my best friend who thought he could rock my world with no consequences, all while throwing me his signature grin.
But this is Jayden we’re talking about. He gets himself into unexpected trouble no matter what, and when visiting Australia, I’m compelled to make sure he doesn’t get eaten by a croc or try to steal a kangaroo. Like the glutton for punishment I am, I follow him.
And that’s all great until my desperation and big mouth send our worlds spiraling. Apparently, we’re now officially a couple. And because of course it goes one step further, I’ve now got my very own fake fiancé.
Being in the media is one thing, but being inspiration for others creates a whole new set of guilt and problems. But we’ll tackle it together and find our way back to how things were.
And if that’s not possible, just maybe Jayden and I can find ourselves with a brand-new label. One that’s real, and one I don’t run from. That’s the thing with Jayden: he has a way to extract my secrets. Whether he’s prepared for them or not.

The story is about best friends to lovers, and even includes a fake boyfriend. Sutton and Jayden make a journey from the United States to Australia, while they try to figure out their sexuality and work up a deception, just in case they might need it. I read the first book in this series and really liked it and was happy that I was not disappointed with the second book. It’s a cute story. Both Sutton and Jaden complicated their life more than they should have and really, they did it for no reason at all. All they had to do was to explain that their marriage proposal hadn’t happened yet. They just made the wrong choice and then made it worse when they lied to their friend, Pearce. But both Jay and Sutton are good guys at heart and worked hard to find their way to their happiness. Good well worthwhile read.
Lovely read! These characters are both bi awakening and the storyline is really well done. The care the author takes with all the elements that make up this novel is inspiring.
Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. Jayden is just over the top, Sutton has such a slow approach that just balances them. A frozen Sutton is hilarious when Jayden first locked his lips on him, as far as first kisses shame it was all for the bigotry of the media's spraying lenses. Here's a thought if a fan gets mad/upset over the sexual orientation of someone, then are they really even a TRUE FAN!?! With the hilarious glimpses we get of them as teens, there is no way their distany didn't lead to this moment.
Jayden's awesome list is truly hilarious (ride a kangaroo) shame on Ryan for breaking his heart! Being Australia's was plan to move his head around being sidelined, dumped so to speak from his bestie. When Sutton pulled away from him, it left him spinning. When a wreck brings the man back to his side, a panic statement is make, leaving them fiance's. All joking aside, how was they going to fix this with their friendship in tact. New hounds get on their trail, making them hide out in the great outback. Confession once that it just support is one thing, but how many time do the they think the fandom will put up with the turnarounds? No wonder Sutton is having issues. What with the jokester that make up Jayden DNA, that brain damage may have been an issues before the wreck. When the time come to get back in the game, will Jayden be fundamental able. Time away from was one time, allowing them to find their own footing while helping others in a program for QSA. Everything is tumbling down, when a video surfaces will that destroy these two, how their reactions was everything but as far as the apologies..Amazing and even more Ryan and Nate. #1lollipopking #kangaroo #jayden #sutton #jayton
Sutton likes to overanalyse and process everything whereas Jayden is more go with the flow and acts without thinking yet they are perfect for each other and they play together on the same professional basketball team. The bestest of best friends with an unshakable bromance until one unexpected kiss from Jayden has Sutton mishandling his response and distancing himself.
Circumstances bring Sutton back to Jayden and the process of reestablishing their relationship begins, with one very slight difference. Slowly but surely secrets are revealed to each other and their relationship changes from friends to lovers.
“Without a doubt, heart and soul deep, I loved Jayden. Like loved him loved him.”
I highlighted so many sections of dialogue and text in this beautifully written book. From the sometimes laughingly ridiculous things Jayden would say to the depth of their understanding of and love for each other. These two wonderful men captured my heart from the very beginning and left me all warm and fuzzy at the end wishing that I could give them big squishy hugs.
I loved every moment of this low angst, sweet with a bit of heat romance and couldn’t stop reading it. From the characters I was so invested in, to the seamless flow of the plot and the perfect pacing that had me turning the pages, it was a superb way to spend an afternoon.

3.5*s rounded up
This is the second book in the series - and follows on from Nate and Ryan's story. I would recommend you read them in order, but should you choose not to, this will make sense as a first read.
In support of Nate and Ryan, Jayden kissed Sutton in front of the press too, to redirect attention. A move which has changed everything between the friends since their teens. So, even though they play on the same basketball team, they avoided each other all season, and now Jayden escapes to Australia to spend time with Nate and Ryan. An accident has Sutton flying over from the States to care for him - and in order to get to see him he makes a pretty huge claim! The fallout of that adds even more complications to how these best of best friends are struggling with the aftermath of the distance between them and the 'kiss'.
As they restore some of the easiness of their friendship, they also find that they need to keep the story going of their fake engagement. The moral and ethical issues make them uncomfortable, but it seems impossible to pull out of - I found this dilemma dealt with in quite an interesting way, as they really tied themselves in knots at times, rather than seeing what was clear about their closeness.
These two guys have a lot to sort out, and we get to spend time with them at summer camp, coaching and sorting out their feelings and futures.
Jayden where have you been hiding all my life?! To say I loved him is such a small thing to say. I fell for his charm in book 1, but here it was a full on love. He is charming, funny and all around great man. It hurt to read how much he was suffering when Sutton pulled away. I felt the hurt, anger and pain he was feeling. But when he's injured and Sutton almost jumps out of his skin to get to him? I could forgive him for all that. They made so much sense its not even funny, although they did made me laugh out loud on more than one account.
What l loved about this series is how both man in each book, once they realize what their feelings meant, talked about the problems or feelings they're feeling. It's really refreshing to see grown people acting accordingly to their age.
After finishing this I'm more than ready to see what the next HEA has in store for me.

Finally! Finally, Jayden and Sutten are here and I couldn’t have been happier with their story. I am in love with this story so much. Jayden and Sutton went through so many miles (literally and figuratively), years, laughs, experiences, and life just to realize the person they were meant to be with was always right there.
I have to say this author, THIS AUTHOR, has some of the best and more creative ways of bringing her characters together or back together. She makes me laugh out loud and the creativity is some of the best I’ve read I always look so forward to seeing what her sense of humor is going to bring in each story. It’s new and different in each story but always, always so entertaining. She nailed it in the first story I ever read by her and she nailed it again this time in a scene I just couldn’t have imagined.
A thousand glowing stars. I just don’t know if I will ever see a Kangaroo the same again.
What started out as a decent friends to lovers book slowly degraded into boredom as nothing much happens between the two MCs. Skimmed the last 15% and didn't even stop to see who bottomed first. Lol.
This is the second book in the Zone Defense series, while a standalone you do meet the characters in the first book and it was really good so I recommend it. Becca is very good about portraying wonderful characters, mild angst and a great HEA. I loved this book and I can't wait to see what comes next.
This was a wonderful book I received from an author I really admire. Becca addresses current issues while writing a story we'd all like to witness in person. A romance, some conflict getting to a happy ending, wonderful characters and true love.
No More Secrets is the second book in Becca Seymour's Zone Defense series. This book tells the story of Jayden and Sutton, both professional basketball players who were introduced in No Take Backs.
I absolutely loved this book, even more than the first one in the series. I expected it to be a sweet and low-angst story - which it was, but it was so much more than that. The characters were well developed and complimented each other perfectly since they had been best friends for many years.
It took Jayden a little longer than Sutton to realize their attraction, but once he did, he was all in with an exuberance that made me smile so many times throughout the book. Sutton tended to over-think things and it took him longer to come to terms with what he was feeling for Jayden and how to "label" it.
I appreciated that once Jayden and Sutton were together, they communicated well other than a little blip, there was no unnecessary drama in their relationship. It was great seeing Ryan and Nate again and I'm eagerly looking forward to the next book in the series.
I received an ARC of this book for my honest review.

I was given a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
This is such a fun, feel-good read. A best friends to lovers story, Jayden and Sutton are magical together. Both basketball stars are at the top of their game. Their long-term ride-or-die friendship initially appears silly and sometimes ridiculous but it is underpinned by deep love and loyalty.
I love that the author manages to avoid overdone genre tropes. These guys are clueless, not closeted. There is fun and heat without too much pining. The supporting characters are engaging without any unbearable sports bro cliches.
This is a playful romance but there are some serious moments as Jayden and Sutton have to manage a romance as high profile stars. I loved the sports camp coaching scenes and I thought the start in Australia was fantastic.
I’m loving this series and I can’t wait for the next book.
Reviewed for Love Bytes – 4.5 hearts Sutton and Jayden are best friends. However, at the end of book one, events in Vegas are the catalyst for mixed emotions that send them spiraling. For two men used to goofing off, life has become complicated. No More Secrets is book two in the Zone Defense Series. Each story features a specific couple whose journey is completed within the covers. However, there is an element of crossover. A nugget of a beginning in one book gets continued and finished in the next. And what a delicious read No More Secrets turned out to be. Love Bytes was provided with an un-proofed copy and, therefore, I will not be commenting on any grammatical aspects. However, there are still some parts that I can observe. The story is told in the first person with alternating chapters on viewpoint. No matter the novel, whenever the format is like this, I get lost with whose point of view I’m reading. Also, although a technicality, autonomous body parts, when used, tend to be a writing habit, and there are quite a few here. In this case, sentences such as, ‘my fingers dipped,’ should have been ‘I dipped my fingers…’. Editorially, seemingly independently working body parts (without qualification) is a no-no. Readers get the meaning, but I’ve been to several conferences where the concept has been discussed and vehemently frowned upon. Anyhoo, back to the tale. I love me a bit of angst in a story, and this has just enough to keep me on edge. It was delicious. The boys are adorable. Sutton is the sensible one that attempts to keep Jayden out of trouble. Jayden has a talent for being oblivious to the obvious. Hence, this story is a slow burn that contains second-guessing – hell first, third and fourth guessing, too. Through a process of engaging mouth before brain, the boys end up living a lie - but wanting the lie - when it wasn’t a lie (I hope that makes sense). Hearts must catch up where fate got there first. There’s so much to say; yet, it will leave spoilers if I do, and I’m not going to do that. I found the basketball background, summer camps, and coaching beautifully described. The banter between the characters, especially Sutton and Jayden, was a slam dunk, with plenty of grassroots toilet humor. The opening chapters, and several after, were real page-turners – especially when spanners were thrown in the works. In all, a cracking, engaging read. This book was provided free in exchange for a fair and honest review for Love Bytes.
“One of these days, I’m going to marry up; you know that, right?” His gaze flared and roamed my face. “As long as you know one of these days I’m going to be marrying my best friend, then that’s fine by me.”
While I didn’t feel as connected to this couple as I did with the couple in the first book of this series, this was an enjoyable read. Sutton and Jayden were the main side characters in the first story, they were Ryan’s teammates and close friends, and a major support when he came out. After Jayden kissed Sutton in front of the media in a show of support for Ryan and Nate, Sutton put their lifelong friendship on pause when he realized he had feelings that were definitely not platonic. While on a trip to visit their friends in Australia, Jayden gets in a car accident and even though things are awkward Sutton immediately flies out to be with him, but tells the nurse he is Jaydens fiancé so he can stay after visiting hours and it is leaked to the press. What happens next is an emotional and at times comedic (though low angst) journey of the men figuring out how to deal with the media, their jobs, the responsibility they feel to figuring out their labels (both personally and for their relationship), and their feelings toward each other.
Though of course their lies catch up to them, they work it out fairly easily. Obviously it had to be dragged out for the sake of the story, but most of the issues could have been solved by talking with someone outside of their relationship earlier instead of trying to handle it all alone. That said, both main characters are endearing and I was rooting for them to figure out their stuff while reading the first book. There is enough basketball to be considered a sports romance, but a lot of the story takes place while they are on “vacation” and Jayden is recovering.
Jayden and Sutton have been friends for a long time. And for a very long time they have been there for one another, they have a bromance that is familiar and meaningful to one another. Jayden tends to do crazy things and Sutton tends to go along to take care that he does not go too far. That works for them until Jayden steps over a line in support of Ryan coming out and kisses Sutton in public to make a point. He didn't realize that for Sutton that was game changing as it woke him up to the fact that his friendship feelings for Jayden were deeper than he realized. Jayden is a joker and he misses the fact that playing off what happens drives Sutton to pull away from him and both are mourning the loss of their closeness when this story opens. When Jayden gets hurt in Australia Sutton rushes to his side. There is nothing like realizing how much someone means to you when you might lose them. They crave being together even more because of the recent estrangement. When a nurse comes to announce the end of visiting hours once Sutton has gotten there he asks if he can stay and announces that Jayden is his fiance'. That opens the door to them finding their way to the truth. They love each other, not just as friends, and the work of figuring out how to live in their world with one another is worth whatever they have to figure out. These guys are so much fun to read about as their sense of who they are separately and together is challenged. They have good support from their families, friends and the organization they play for. But at the root of things they realize that it is worth being vulnerable and having no more secrets if it meant having one another. This was another touching story in this series and I am anxiously waiting for the next story. I do hope that Pearce will get a story. I received an ARC for an honest review.
Becca Seymour seems to be turning me into a Friends to Lover fan. I was shocked when I read No Take Backs last year and loved this trope immensely, so when she asked if I wanted to read the next book in her Zone Defense/Basketball Romance series, I jumped at the chance.
Jayden and Sutton were characters and friends that we got to know in the first book. They left off with a STEAMY kiss on the television to take the heat off of their teammate Nate. We don’t get to see the aftermath of this in No More Secrets, but we find out that their PR and Management Teams had to express their heterosexuality to the press. This, for me, is so depressing… that sexuality means anything to a fan. Just because they kiss boys off court, does not mean that their game play is any less impressive.
When the book begins, they haven’t been in contact for months. Until Jayden is in a car accident that brings Sutton running to see him in Australia. When Sutton is asked to leave for the evening, because only family is allowed to sleep over night in the hospital room, one white lie stating they are engaged turns into a news worthy event, changing their futures forever.
I loved this story so much, because we get to see two characters that I adored from the first book find each other emotionally (and sexually), building a future that they hope will reshape the sports world to make room for LGBTQIA+ players everywhere.
I loved their love and can’t wait to read the 3rd book. Thank you to the author for a copy of No More Secrets in return of an honest review!
*4.5* While this does have an emotional and serious aspect to it, Jayden and Sutton's friendship and subsequent relationship is so much fun. Admittedly, mostly from Jayden and his ability to just say what he's thinking, regardless of how ridiculous, but Sutton is his perfect counterbalance, calming him it reigning in his exuberant nature when needed. They had a moment at the end of book on if this series which led to complications at the start of this book. Not communicating is bit something they have ever experienced as friends but after the kiss that Jayden landed on Sutton, Sutton didn't know how to deal which impacted their friendship. An accident whilst on holiday in Australia has Sutton flying across the ocean to be by Jayden's side. Things evolve quickly from there, partially accidental but once open with each other, it's unexpected happiness and heat that have them on a whole new level together after being best friends for so many years. This is a brilliant best friends to lovers with a dash of fake relationship romance. Moments of jealousy make it entertaining, new explorations make for some very heated scenes and their friends give both men a wonderful level of support. Definitely a recommended read, I'm loving this series so far. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
No More Secrets is an amazing addition to the Zone Defense series and I absolutely loved it. This story is beautifully written, sweet, emotional, hilarious, sexy, the characters are wonderful and I love the storyline. I was intrigued by Jayden and Sutton in the first book and I am so happy that we get to see how their relationship evolves from best friends to so much more. Everything changes after Jayden kisses Sutton and Jayden is clueless as to why his best friend is suddenly putting a huge amount of distance between them. Sutton doesn't know how to deal with his new feelings for Jayden and both of them are miserable. When they finally begin to communicate about what happened between them they both have some tough decisions to make if they want to be together. They are exactly what the other needs and I love that Jayden is so adventurous and outgoing while Sutton is such a steadying influence for Jayden. The ending is perfect, I love the secondary characters and I can't wait to read the next book in this incredible series.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I loved Sutton and Jayden, and I loved their story. Following on from Ryan and Nate's story in book 1 No Take Backs, Sutton and Jayden's kiss has created a massive rift in their friendship and Jayden has set off to Australia to have a break and catch up with Ryan and Nate. When he has an accident, Sutton jumps on a plane to see his friend.
Oh, I loved the way these guys ended up getting together, what starts as a fake engagement, becomes a real fake relationship and then a real relationship. I loved how they (mostly) communicated really well with each other as they were working through all of their changing feelings.
There was humour and sweetness galore, low angst and it was a really enjoyable read as these two guys navigated their friendship and their romantic relationship combined with their pro basketball careers. It wasn't always smooth sailing and I liked that, I liked that they both struggled with different aspects of the way this changed not only their relationship but how they saw themselves, but it wasn't too challenging for them to work things out and it didn't drag on creating unnecessary angst.
I am really looking forward to more in this series.
I already wanted Jayden and Sutton to get their HEA when I met them in book 1 of this series. I enjoyed their fake boyfriend, best friends to lovers, story, and catching up with Nate and Ryan again. I also liked the hint of book three’s couple, and am looking forward to reading that one too.
I like that both Jayden and Sutton needed to work out who they were, and to admit to themselves who they wanted. Despite Sutton’s initial backing off, his feelings for Jayden are obvious when he drops everything and rushes to Jayden’s bedside. I love how they both act impulsively then have to back up and realise the implications of what they’ve done. I like the fake boyfriend trope, and I enjoyed Jayden and Sutton’s journey to its natural conclusion.
The supporting cast are great, and I liked how they also provide Jayden and Sutton with sounding boards as they try to figure everything out, be true to themselves, and also not let down the kids they’re coaching. I love Jayden’s parents, their support, and commonsense.
The scene when everything comes out in the open, and the resulting scene with the media is perfect and very much these guys.
No More Secrets by Becca Seymour is the second book in the Zone Defense series, Jayden and Sutton's story.
Jayden and Sutton have been best friends since they met at basketball camp. After a few shocking incidents put them in a weird spot, Jayden and Sutton find themselves together, alone in a cabin in the Australian outback and engaged.
OMG!! I love Jayden and Sutton. I did not want their book to end. Sutton is a saint for all the craziness that he puts up with that Jayden throws at him. The love and chemistry they have together is undeniable.
No More Secrets contains... sports (basketball), mm, best friends to lovers, teammates to lovers, bi-awakening, and dual first-person point of view.
I really like Jayden and Sutton we met during Nate and Ryan's story. I was desperate to know how their relationship would continue after That Kiss.
They are great characters, the serious overthinker and the take it by the day funny one. There is lots of shared history and a good feeling about these two.
When a lie backfires they realise the implications are deeper than they thought and the charade carries on until it develops into real feelings and confessions.
Great story line but what brought it down for me was the length of the book. I reached 50% and was still no wiser when they finally would confess what everyone was already thinking. The drama at the end felt like "I need to add some drama because that's expected" and again, it felt dragged out.
Nevertheless, I really like the author's style and will continue reading her. I am looking forward to the next book, there are some hints towards the end....
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Jayden and Sutton’s bromance to romance, friends-to-lovers trajectory is sweet, hot, and funny– just like the guys themselves. Jayden’s over-the-top enthusiasm and reckless good nature are the ideal foil for Sutton’s cerebral steadiness: they’re each other’s perfect complement, and it’s fun watching them realize that that might have different ramifications than just the ones they’ve drawn upon for pretty much their entire adult lives. Everything these guys do is with the best of intentions, and so even tropes that might have seemed trite feel new and fresh in their hands: their “fake” relationship is so real even they can’t deny it for long, and the grand gesture toward the end is both ridiculous and perfectly fitting for them. There are some sweet moments, some steamy ones, way too many kangaroo jokes, and lots of great supporting characters on the road to these guys’ HEA, and it’s well worth the read to watch them get there.
*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
A friends to lovers story - just what the doctor ordered.
Jayden and Sutton have been friends and teammates for a long while. Although their friendship has been strained since a very public kiss. When Jayden gets in an accident, Sutton instantly drops everything to fly to Australia to be with him. Both have really been in denial about their feelings for each other by not acting on them but the close shave brings them closer than they have ever been.
Circumstances bring their relationship out in the open sooner than they would like and further than they would like but it forces them to actually confront their feelings for each other are more than friendship. I loved the interactions between the two of them and the way that they look after each other. The complement the other perfectly but have very different personalities.
This was a completely adorable and sweet read. I loved the characters, the location, and the story. It all came together in a positive and enjoyable way.
I honestly believe this was the best one yet by this author. No More Secrets was Jayden and Sutton’s story. We met them in No Take Backs. Jayden is over the top outrageous and Sutton calms his antics down. But when Jayden kisses Sutton, it turns both of their world’s upside down. Sutton pulls away from his best friend and Jayden goes to Australia to visit with Ryan and Nate. When circumstances out of their control they are brought back together. Jayden’s antics had me laughing so hard at times. I seriously loved it when they finally came together and was finally on the same page. This kept me hooked and it didn’t let me go until the end, left me smiling! Overall, this was a really fantastic story!! It was really well written, the pacing flowed nicely, highly recommend. I’m voluntarily reviewing from an advanced copy that I received. My reviews are solely based on my thoughts and opinions.
Jayden and Sutton were one of the highlights of the previous book in this series and their book does not disappoint! The friendship these two have is kind of lovely so it was easy to root for their relationship to move from friends to lovers. I liked how their very different personalities balanced each other; Jayden being bold and a bit impulsive and Sutton being more deliberate and careful. Their dynamic as friends and lovers is quirky and I loved how they trusted their friendship enough to take the leap into something more. Excellent fun characters and side characters, I especially enjoyed seeing more of Nate & Ryan. Sutton and Jayden’s story is a great blend of heat and sweetness, a super endearing friends to lovers romance. Great read, I really enjoyed their story and their HEA.
I received an arc of this book and this is my honest review
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a nice follow up for the last book. I loved every moment. The ending with a Ryan and Nate update made me incredibly happy. My only complaint with the book is that I'm pretty sure we didn't find out or know Sutton was African American until half way through the book. Saying he had brown skin didn't/doesn't mean he was African American. Normally I wouldn't care. However, that aspect adds another layer as to why he struggled so much with loving his best friend. Unfortunately, African American gay men have a much harder time living freely than white gay men. So, I really wish it would've been more clear so the hard struggle would've made even more sense. Overall, though, this book was beautifully written and I loved the HEA.
