Never make a deal with a demon.

There are two things Darby Adler wants more than anything: to take a vacation, and to find who is responsible for the rash of witch abductions in Knoxville.

With an ancient vampire in town and a slew of fugitives on the loose, her suspect pool is vast. But Darby has a sneaking suspicion she knows the culprit all too well.

And if she can’t catch him on her own, she might just have to resort to more creative measures to get the job done.

Here’s hoping she doesn’t lose her soul in the process.

Another home run! Darby Adler is who I want to be in the face of evil! (Well at least in the face of a bully, it's unlikely I'll run into real evil in my current hermit lifestyle)

You can't help but love this story! The growth and change throughout this entire series is mind blowing. This book was no exception. From the first paragraph I felt the change. It's raw and it's real and it absolutely sucks you into this book. I could not put it down.

Once again Annie Anderson writes snark that never disappoints. The perfect balance of mystery, suspense, trauma, snark, and sarcasm is pure talent! She will have you screaming at the pages one minute, then snorting your drink out of your nose from laughter the next. All her books are written that well.

As an added treat I know the Audible version will be out in a month or so and Cassandra Parker is absolutely amazing as a narrator. She IS Darby Adler 💯

Do yourselves a favor, read this series in it's entirety then listen on Audible. I promise it's worth it. Yes, It's THAT good!.

“Dead Wrong “ is another great installment in the Grave Walker series. This time Darby is reeling from Bishop’s betrayal, her near death experience in the cave, her bff, Jay is coming to grips with being a newly turned vampire and she just can’t seem to sleep or eat.

Then Dahlia, Harper and Shiloh come to visit to tell her witches have gone missing. Darby is numb. She soon discovers that Astrid has been keeping secrets and she is furious. Before she can do anything about it Aeimos comes to her and forced her to sleep and eat. He heals her body so she can heal her heart.

As Darby begins investigating the missing witches and the deaths of several others, she falls under attack by some ghouls. Then the ghouls attack Ingrid’s coven and kidnap one of Darby’s own. She knows she is heading into a trap but she doesn’t care. She refuses to let a friend down no matter the cost.

There is plenty going on in this read and it appears a cautious new attraction may be forming. My only complaint is this read felt like a but of filler leading up to the inevitable confrontation with Bishop. I just wish we had a little more repartee between he and Darby so we could get a better glimpse as to why he has used her. However, hopefully that will come out in the next installment.

I’m still enamored with this read but hope that the storyline will not be dragged out over too many more installments. Only time will tell.

“Dead Wrong” is the sixth instalment in the “Grave Talker Series” by Annie Anderson, a fantastic, original, good, solid, classic urban fantasy, which follows
Darby Adler, and ex-cop and very relatable, witty, somehow hangry character, with an unending love for coffee, who gets thrown in the middle of a carefully crafted urban fantasy world, and manages to keep her cool (or hot depending on the pov) in even the most outrageous situation, as her very special necromancy gift, brought her to the attention of the ABI (Arcane Bureau of Investigation), put her in jail and eventually make her the Warden of Knoxville.

After everything Darcy has been going through with Bishop and the almost impossible task to come out of the last adventure relatively unscathed, you might think there is nothing Darcy cannot master, or you might think Darcy has finally come to the end of her rope, and you might be right… or wrong… on both counts 😉 yes this is that kind of story and you’ll enjoy every bit of it. Annie Anderson has not only done it once more; she has done it again…. with gusto, making this one the best book in the series so far 😊

Another well-written story, with an interesting plots, unexpected twists, and situations, aimed to an adult readership. Grab your beverage of choice and some snacks, put the cell on silent and prepare to sacrifice your beauty sleep once more, because – as usually when it comes to Darby – it will sheer impossible to stop ‘watching’ the plot unfold, just don’t take that vacation yet… it really didn’t work that well for Darcy… maybe next time 😉

This is the sixth book in this series. They need to be read in order. They also crossover with another series by Annie, the Soul Reader Series. You might be lost if you don’t read the other series as well. Darby just can’t catch a break. Her life her been turned upside down once again. She is dealing with the betrayal of Bishop. On top of that there is an ancient vampire on the loose and witches going missing. There are no clues. But someone obviously wants her dead, but that is nothing new for her. Darby has to a clue as to who is probably after her and is making the witches disappear but that doesn’t mean she knows how to find them or stop them. Then there is the prince of hell who keeps appearing and taking care of her. She isn’t going to give into the butterflies he causes. She did that before and look where that got her. Darby is reaching the end of her rope and is out of give a damns. Read about how Darby and her rag tag team get through this one. I can’t say enough about how fantastic this book is. Annie creates a fantastic world with amazing characters. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. I can’t recommend this book or the series enough. Annie is a must-read author for me. Fantastic job Annie.

Dead Wrong Grave Talker book 6 is one of the best reads out there. I absolutely love this book. Exciting, exhilarating and the cheering section could be heard in my house as I read it. Yes my husband was giving me weird looks as I was reading. I hated turning every page knowing it was only getting me closer to the end.🥺😢 Never had that feeling before ❤️. This books has many surprises and even a fan favorite woman like me could not have guessed what was going on or was happening.
Not only is Annie Anderson a wonderful writer but her books also allow for readers like me to become a part of her books. Her imagination combined with her writing set a glorious stage where her readers can step in and feel like they are apart of Darbys' world. We the readers can feel what she's feeling; both the beautiful and the heartbreaking parts of it. We cry and laugh and love with her books.
Loved it have recommended it to my friends and after reading Annie's books I am so very happy I read for fun. 🤩🤩🤩

Dead Wrong (Grave Talker #6)
by Annie Anderson

***5 stars***

I know I say this a lot but my poor, poor, Darby girl. Can't a girl catch a dang break...on the beach, with a stiff drink and a tiny umbrella? Sheesh!

Witches are coming up missing, dead people are harassing her, and her crazy douche ex is still on the loose. Not to mention her friends and family are trying to keep her from inevitable doom, as always, while she tries to keep them all out of danger, as well. All in a days work.

We also get the soul crushing pleasure of riding alongside, Aemon. Yes, he's a demon from hell, but...he's a sexy, smart mouthed, absolute ball of fun, demon. I seriously love him more than all the tacos in the world...and that's a whole lot of love right there!

Annie is my hero for creating such knock your socks off characters, and I'll never get enough. She's nailed down a fan for life, and I can't wait to see what's next!

Wow! Dead Wrong is the sixth book in the Grave Talker series and is one of my favorites!
The book starts with Darby feeling fed up with the world because of everything that has happened since we first met her to being betrayed by Bishop. Now she is on a case of missing witches and of course someone wanting to kill her.
This book was filled with danger, mystery and was filled with supernatural characters. I loved this book and can’t wait to see what Darby does next!

Jaw-dropping, non-stop action!

Witches are disappearing in Knoxville and as the Warden, it’s Darby’s job to find them, but when she does, she wishes she hadn’t.

Annie Anderson delivers again! This book grabbed me from the first page and I couldn’t stop reading. Every time I read one of the books in this series it makes me want to go back and read all of them again. Darby is amazing! I received an advance copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

Yes. Just yes.

So, after the whirl wind that Darby has been on, and what she went through in the last book... I am excited to see what this next phase of chaos and justice brings. Some peoplr need to pay for what they did. I think Darby might just be able to collect .

Though.. now I'm wondering if we can get stories about the Prince(s) of hell and their St.James matches.

I can't say anything bad about this book... Except one character is so good at being bad, and yummy, definitely yummy. You know who you are, you devil of a man! This book is just another fabulous addition to the series for sure! So many surprises and lots of excitement! Don't miss out on this book! I couldn't stop reading it!

From the start you are willingly dragged back into Darby’s world. The book reminding you of the heart ache and revelations of the last book floor you and grip your attention.

Darby isn’t the woman you recognise but as the book continues she becomes even more badass. With the gang back together they go hunting the new menace in their lives.

Annie Anderson traverses the feelings of loss of love and trust in yourself. Building the characters back up, producing a story that rockets to and end leaving you feeling good but cautious of what they will face next.

As usual I’m craving the next instalment. This author keeps giving me just enough to keep me addicted. I love it.

I wish I had the kind of creativity that Annie has. She also has the ability to absorb us into her worlds and make us feel everything the characters feel. The only downside is when the book is over, we have to return to the real world. I absolutely recommend all of her books and this one is no exception. I can’t wait for the next one.

Darby is back is so is the trouble she is great at finding and getting in the middle of it all. Full of the action, danger, surprises, fun and good characters, this one was just as entertaining as the rest. Fun to tread and hard to put down. Had to see who the bad guy was and how Darby would catch them, it she could. Loved it.

With any Annie Anderson book you expect to get a heart-pounding, breath stealing, intensity that is not for the faint of heart. You should also expect to curse her, the characters and the book itself... Just saying.

This book delivers that and so much more. I am confidant in saying this... so far this is one of my faves out of this series. Like legit. I laughed, cursed (Annie and the book!) a few times. I also choked on my soda once but I know better than to drink while I read. She tries to kill *me* with each book. I swear.

In this book we get to see Darby deal with some seriously raw emotions. The last year had been hard for the new Knoxville Warden but the last few days....well, they make the rest look like a bloody fecking Mardi Gras parade. I like the raw Darby though. Don't get me wrong, Darby gives no f*cks on a good day but *this* Darby-oh this Darby is a total fecking nut job (in the best of ways) and I am here for it. I support her and her chaotic little self.

The vampires, witches and Darby herself have no clue what's coming for them. The battle lines are marked, the swords drawn and magic is at the ready. With the tools and people she has on hand Darby must do what she has to and do it fast before all she holds near and dear are taken away. There are many surprises as you flip from page to page.

I love Darby Adler and her Scooby gang. They are the epitome of bonded family. Blood doesn't make you family; winning battles, taking down the bad guys and being able to laugh off the crazy sh*t does.

I can not wait for the next book!

5 No Way In Literal Hell Stars

Dead Wrong is the sixth book in the Grave Talker series by Annie Anderson.

This book was practically perfection. Except, and big spoiler here, you'll have to wait for Bishop's downfall until the next book. Very sad day. I was hoping he would receive his comeuppance.

Mostly, I enjoyed this book because it finally highlighted Bishop's character in the way he presented himself at their first meeting. Before he came back all apologies and taco bribes. I wonder if it was actually the food that convinced her, or if that was in fact the first time he controlled and influenced her mind. Or whether it was in fact when she was released from prison, starved for kindness, and recovering from being a science experiment because of her own mother.

Most of all, I'm glad she's back. Darcy has had a spine and courage for the entirety of this book. But I have been waiting for her to go off, to take what she is owed, to mark the boundaries she will let no one cross. She never seemed to really change much, per se, just the overly lovey thing she had going on with that leech always struck false for me. A woman with such a small band of trusted family and friend wouldn't just invite a suspicious man into her life willy nilly.

This Nero vamp was a sick, disturbing pedophile. Much more depraved than I'd realized. It should have been obvious give he turned Ingrid, that he would have more children vamps in his coven. But the sheer number of them was beyond my largest guesses. The true surprise was that her two biggest enemies in these pages teamed up together.

Then there's the extra oomph of power she's been gifted and the way in which it will change her future. Aemon is such a better romantic male lead. He actually seems to fit into her life flawlessly, and wish only the best for her.

Good

WARNING! Book-hook cliffhanger… the unfinished business kind!

Beginning where book five left off… you need to have read all of those, as well as the soul reader series first, check the author’s site for reading order! If you haven’t read them, then don’t read any further if you don’t want spoilers.

Darby’s world shattered not that long ago. With both of her fathers dead, her best friend changed because she made the mistake of trusting the wrong person, and her former lover being not AT ALL the man she thought he was and betraying her, she has had a lot to deal with.
Now there is a Demon Prince who insists on hanging around, a psychopathic vampire to hunt down, and a run of missing witches whose disappearances seem to be somehow linked to the vampire.
Darby has a hell of a lot on her plate, and not a lot of time to get things done!

This book was so action packed that it just flew by in a couple of hours! I really don’t want to spill too much dirt about what happens, just that it is big, and that while Darby starts out the book somewhat broken, by the end of the book she’s gotten a great deal of closure, even if her big-bad is still on the loose for the next book!

It’s a fantastic read, a book that has no problems building upon the foundation laid by the preceding five books in this series, and the four in the Soul Reader sister series. It kept me guessing, and hanging on to the edge of my seat, and I can’t wait to see how the next one goes, even if I actually DO have to wait!

If you’re an Urban Fantasy fan, then this entire series and its sister series is well worth reading, and highly recommend!

Dead Wrong - the Grave Talker Series Book 6 - Review

Couple: Darby Adler, Bishop LaRoux & Aemon

Author: Annie Anderson

Tropes: thriller, PNR, ghost romance, mystery, lover-enemy, demon romance

Review: Bishop is GONE!! After all the strife he gave Darby I am so so glad he is outta there. In the aftermath of Bishop’s betrayal, Darby is left stranded and second guessing everything that had happened to her in the past year or so. She has no idea how long he was manipulating her and is wounded that she fell for him so hard.

Her saving grace comes in the form of the super sexy demon Aemon. Wile she refuses to jump into a new relationship anytime soon, Aemon makes it hard for her to forget him. He turns up everywhere and all he does is support her and make sure she takes care of herself.

Darby and Aemon are not the typical demon prince romance. We see him forgo pride to take care of her on the side and become a confidant to her and her team. I loved how he did not rush her to admit anything and truly just wanted to make sure she was healthy.

This book also brings many twists in old characters like Jay and Hildy. We see Jay struggle with new developments and become a true mythical fighter with Darby and friends. His evolution was perhaps my favorite in this series since he goes all in to support Darby. Book 6 also gives us more history on Ingrid and her maker. We see her evolve into a true supporter of Darby and their friendship is wonderful to read.

This book sets the stage for the last book to dominate the series!

Rating: 4/5, it all comes down to Darby….but give me more Aemon!

You know if I could live in this world I would. Darby would legit be my person. This woman is so freaking amazing!!

She has seriously gone through so freaking much. I mean she just wants that vacation lol

She is thrown into the deep in this one and let me tell you our girl kills it. After everything she’s been through this sass is strong with this one. But seriously just everything about her kicks butt. You keep seeing her get knocked down and it’s like oh ok again, whelp here we go pushing on forward.

Darby had to figure out what’s going on this book while keeping her people safe, while they work on keeping her safe. They are such a great group of people…well family. I’m over here like ok do you have room for another human 😂

Oh my, Aemon…there’s just so much there, you legit have to read this so understand the “oh my” haha he’s this sexy, fun, crazy demon and actually has Darby’s back.

I cannot wait for the next book. This one was absolutely amazing. I cannot recommend it enough!!

I also recommend starting from the beginning and reading the books in the order on Annie Anderson’s website. It’ll make everything make sense.

Such an amazing book, can’t wait for the next one!!.

If you have not read book one, stop and go back. This is a series and must be read in order, otherwise you're going to be very lost. You'll love the story, but trust me, start at book one.

Book six in this series does not disappoint. Once again Darby Adler is forced to step up and save the world. I love this series, but man does the author put poor Darby through the paces. No rest for the weary, and this book immediately takes the MC on quite an adventure.

Honestly this entire series is fraught with twists and turns that as a reader made me gasp, howl in fury at some of my favorite characters, yell, cry a bit, and beg Darby to hang in there. I cannot wait to see where the author takes this story. Great read for anyone who loves paranormal stories with multiple plot lines and amazingly quirky characters. Deceit, lies, betrayal interwoven with life long friendships lead to some breathtaking moments in this series. At this point in the series, as a reader I don't know who to trust, let alone wonder how Darby manages it.

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Well I can't say that I like Darby any better in this book than I have in any of the previous 5. In fact I think she is a down right cold hearted BITCH in this one!

I have to say this one was more interesting. Probably because we are ramping up to ending the series. And I have to say that the one villain that they left for the last is out of order in my opinion. I think Nero should have been the last villain. He is way older then what Bishop is and even though he body might have been starting to give up. He should have had way more power then Bishop did. So yeah I think that is kind of screwy. But that is just my opinion.

I have to say I was kind of disappointed with the way that things ended with Shiloh. I expected better of her character then for her to just kinda wimp out at the end like that. I was also kind of disappointed that Aemon wasn't a bigger part of this story. I am hoping he gets a bigger part in the next book.

Still the side characters that are pulling me through this series. I love them all and gonna miss them when this series ends.

I love Darby! No matter what she does or doesn’t do, trouble seems to find her.. it most definitely does in this book. If you enjoy action, magic, paranormal beings, and gore doesn’t bother you you should enjoy this series and this book. Warden Darby Adler has a bunch of unexpected and unexplained deaths and disappearances happening in Knoxville and no leads to go on. Then I seems like everyone she cares about is disappearing and/or someone or something is trying to kill them as well. This book was finished so quickly and I am looking forward to reading the next book to find out if Darby catches the bad guys, one in particular. And to see if she will actually get a much needed vacation. Annie Anderson definitely keeps her readers glued to the pages of whichever book they are reading. I was lucky enough to receive an advance copy and just wanted to say thanks so much!! Keep the Darby and Sloane books coming! I thoroughly enjoy them and recommend Annie Anderson’s books..

Our heroine really wants a break, but a string of supernatural abductions mean that is not going to happen any time soon. These things don't solve themselves, you know.

This is book six of the series. It works pretty well as a standalone. You will be missing a bit of background, but the essential bits are covered early on.

This is an urban fantasy story with a heroine that can speak with the dead. The story is very well written and grabs your attention right out of the gate. I love our heroine who is tough and smart, my favorite kind. The characters and setting are also well done and get better with every new book. The plot moves at a good pace and includes a nice blend of action and intrigue with the occasional touch of humor. Overall, a fun story and I look forward to the next book.

Highly recommended.

Darby Adler is a woman on a mission. This poor girl cant sleep or even eat because death (not literal death she knows that person) is knocking on her door. She has a vendetta to settle with someone she was once close with. She is now in cahoots with Aemon. You see girl cant catch a break!!

Someone is killing witches and Darby and crew need to find out who or why before it gets way worse. Darby has a sneaking suspicion who it is. She finds herself in a pickle but boy oh boy is revenge is going to be sweet.

I will always have a girl crush on Darby. I want to take her on a nice vacation and feed her tacos. Can i also say I'm kind of sweet on Aemon. I'm always excited to read these books because I know I'll enjoy it and have a good time.

Not that she can help it, everyone seems to be out to get her, sort of.
There's one that's out to help her, whether she wants his help or not.
But as the warden it is her job to police what the supernatural don't want policed and she does it with style.
Darby just never seems to get a break unless it is forced on her and she has some awesome friends to help her out there but again, she prefers to do it all on her own. She does not like to drag others into her situations that are never ending.
I am really enjoying this series and you have to read it from start to finish.
I blew through this one, just couldn't put it down, had to force myself to remember there was a real world going on outside these pages, loved it!.

Gotta love this series. A wise cracking, foul mouthed grave talker, with a unique group of friends. Darby can face anything with the help of her friends. The rag tag bunch has much to overcome, much to face and much to learn. Yet, without knowing what they are truly doing, they do the job. Darby believes in justice and capturing those who are guilty. She will fight until her last breath and then got the extra mile to right a wrong. But, no matter how much Darby is tortured, lied to and still standing to fight, Bishop La Roux is still eluding capture. What does a woman have to do, to get this man... only time will tell.
This is a series that gets better with each book. The characters growing and evolving with each new story. You have to cheer for Darby and her rag tag team, as well as laugh out loud. Can't wait for the next story to come out

Talk about action!

When I found Annie Anderson, it was through her Max character. I LOVED Max and all things Max. When I was done with the entire series about Max, I started in here with Darby and Sloan. With Sloan winning me over between the 2 sisters, so I read her series first then I came back to Darby's series. Well this one, Dead Wrong, in my humble opinion, just took Darby up ALOT of notches on my like meter. I am kinda peeved at myself for waiting so long to read it after release. Twists, turns and great action this time around with a heroine who is finally realizing she can overcome the trauma of her past while dealing with all the utter chaos around her made it great reading for me. I am working on getting a new book case, because I am going to have add physicals copies of all of Max, Sloan and now Darby to my home to have for all time...

Darby Adler, newly appointed Warden, is in trouble again (but, what else is new?). Her best friend, Jay, is a newborn vampire, her ex is a slimeball death Mage who needs to die and witches are disappearing. On top of this, she is starting to have feelings for a demon named Aemon....will her heart never learn to not trust anyone?

I know when I start reading one of Annie Anderson's books that I need to have enough time set aside to read it all in one setting and this book is no exception. The characters are well-developed and snarky, the action is nonstop and the magic flies throughout from start to finish.

If you love fast-paced supernatural action with witches, ghouls, vampires, mages, ghosts, vampires and more, you need to read this series. You won't be disappointed!

This series is more like a long serial. The author does state that the books need to be read in order, but unless you re-read the last one shortly before starting the next you may be a bit lost like me. Since the story in Dead Wrong isn't complicated (SEE BELOW!), it's more remembering the characters and relationships and who done who wrong and why.

The story starts in mid-stride and is so action packed that there's little meaningful character interaction. It's primarily ATTACK! KILL! SUFFERING! VENGEANCE! A little more interaction, thought, planning, etc. would be good.

For optimum enjoyment, I'd really say wait until the series is finished and read each story immediatey after the other.

Darby's life, and this whole series, is one hell of an adventure with lots of drama and surprises. She just cannot catch a breath, not now when there are ritual murders of witches with suspicious consequences and even human police involvement. Like it or not, Darby is onto her next quest, looking out also for her archenemy (or archenemies, depends), while a certain demon has her back and maybe aims for more..
I am in love with this series, with its characters and all the crazy, hilarious, unbelievable, action packed situations it brings. I basically devoured the book in one go, and cannot wait for Darby's plans in the next book. Her energy and drive coupled with her sassy mouth, sarcasm, and no-nonsense attitude are addictive and I will be actually sad when all is over.
