Serena and Brax are awaiting the birth of their child when a surprise visitor throws everything into turmoil. He's someone Serena has known for a long time, but never thought she would meet in the flesh. Even more surprising, he has a proposition for her that will change her life forever. Can she reconcile what she's feeling for him with the love she has for Brax?
If you're looking for sweet and steamy romance, you've come to the right place! I started reading romance novels in my early teens and writing them soon afterwards; growing up in small towns in western Canada, there wasn't much else to do! Luckily, those early stories have never seen the light of day.
Now, I live in the UK with my husband and daughter and spend my free time diving into magical or just romantic settings where true love (almost) always wins.
For me this book is 2,5 stars, but since GR doesn't do halves I rounded up to three. I liked it the least in of all three books. The reason for that can be summed up in 1 word: Maxim.
The vampire prince is arrogant, obsessive and overbearing. I know I was supposed to like him in the end since he did have a smidge of character development but I just couldn't make myself like him.
Comparing Brax and Maxim.
Maxim gives no choice, Brax tries/wants to have Serena choose herself Maxim makes Serena beg/submissive, Brax worships her Maxim manipulates, Brax supports her
Instant trigger for me is taking away choice. The sentences that triggered me in just the first chapter alone...
"Serena, I have waited a very long time to find you. I will not be dissuaded. I am giving you the choice as to how it happens, but it is happening. The sooner you accept that, the better."
After this interaction. Does she wake up her mate? No why would she do that? A vampire called Maxim just threatened to kill him to claim her as his mate, but hey lets take the time to calm down and figure out what's going on for yourself first Serena, real smart.
Redemption point for Serena, the moment Brax woke in the morning she did tell him. And he doesn't really believe her?!?! He pretends to go along and believes only after his 2nd gives him more info plus when Serena finds evidence in books.
Brax confronts Maxim and actually listens to the vampire after he dropped the bomb that Serena would never die and oh yeah he would help hunt down the enemy from book 2. Point for Brax, reminding me why I liked him so much in book 1. In a convo later he says...
"It's not my decision to consider," he said again. "Whatever you want to do, I will support you. I love you, Serena."
He gives her true choice. He refuses to push her into what he thinks is best.
Serena actually considers the matter. She invites the vampire into her home to ask her questions (so stupid, it made me want to scream). Then all the talk about choice is put aside when Serena is dying after giving birth to her son. After being righteously angry with Brax she is soothed almost immediately after.
After the bond between Serena and Maxim is created the vampire changes his tune. Oh I wouldn't have killed Brax, I just wanted to you to choose me quickly. Just no. The sexy scenes didn't work for me. Not because of bad writing, not because it was BDSM, but purely because I truly dislike Maxim so much I couldn't get into it.
Then the hunt for Kyron is on only for him to have brought reinforcement who coincidentely knows exactly how to deal with vampires. It was a bit too convenient for me, but in the end it worked out plotwise.
I liked seeing Damian and Dakato (Serena's sister and Damian's mate). I would have liked seeing more of them. Also kudos to the author for throwing in the casual mention of bestiality between Damian's wolf and Dakota. I had to blink a few times at the mention but hey whatever floats their boat, no judgement here.
All in all the first book in the series was my favorite. This book was ok plotwise, the writing flowed well. The only thing that really stopped me from liking it was the utter dislike I felt for one of the main characters, which is a shame.
This was my favorite book of the trilogy, mostly because of the slightly twisted turn it took. Some readers might not enjoy it - if you don't like multiple partners for the heroine, step away now - but I thought it was really interesting to see the differences between Maxim and Brax and how Serena responded to them both (AND how they responded to each other).
It ties up several things from the first two books (Serena's hemophilia and Kyron, for example), and it has a happy ending (if not an entirely conventional one). Overall I enjoyed these series!
This was totally different from the first two books in series. I enjoyed reading how Serena was saved. At first, I wasn't thrilled, but as I kept reading the storyline made complete sense. This is an awesome third book. I highly recommended for mature readers.
This whole series was incredible!! I had such a hard time putting it down!! Just the right amount of smut & the ending was surprising! Great story that made me emotional along with the characters!
I loved and hated and then loved this book! I hated the idea of Serena and Maxim and what would happen to Brax. But they way it all unfolded. Wow! Also the sex in this book is next level 🥵🥵🥵 I may have to reread this one 🤣🙈

I loved, hated and then loved this book again! It ended the series really well! I hope melody decides to do another one 😉😉 also the sex in this book 😵😵😵🥵🥵🥵 wow!
I wasnt sure how i felt about this one at first but then i ended up loving the characters well Serena and brax i loved since the first story but it took me a bit for maxim. They all completed each other in many ways it kept me coming back to read what happens next! Melodys attention to detail is amazing she makes it so easy to picture everything like you are there! Definitely worth reading!
Serena is drawn outdoors. She didn’t know why but her body is auto-moving. She meets Percy from the portrait. Yeah, a little weird but exciting all the same. And it is actually Maxim, and he is a vampire. Max has an offer he is trying to get Serena and Brax to approve of, which is really twisted. Serena has a big decision to make. This book is steamy !!! The decision gets made for her, and things get even more wicked and twisted. The ending of this book is straight-up kinky, definitely for a mature audience.
I love how the author was able to integrate other paranormals into her story. I admit this one is a little crazy, but I love the idea of it anyway. The author did a great job making an adult story exciting and steamy. I was surprised at every twist and turned in the book. But I loved that it didn’t dwell on the characters who kept moving forward no matter what life threw at them. All the characters adapted well to a new life, new threats, and new loves.
I was really nervous about reading this, because bringing in Maxim changed so much and I just couldn't see how it would work!
It was really fun, but it changed a lot. Brax seemed to lose a lot of his dominance and power. The jealousy he had in the face of Damian in the first book was replaced by quiet thoughts of possessive jealousy but nothing too powerful and it just seemed a big change.
I enjoyed Maxim as a character, but in this story he seemed out of place. Whilst it was definitely a fun read, I honestly would have preferred a separate Maxim story with a different consort. This left a lot of questions with a promise of a 'not happily ever after' as they would either lose Brax or Finn at some point and Orpheus. There was just too much future pain and it didn't seem to fit.
So whilst I enjoyed the story whilst reading it, I don't think it really added to the series. I think it just made it overly complex.
AH. this book was good until some topics were covered that I felt very uncomfortable reading about. And I love a good smut or romance but this one delved into my anti-safe zone if you know what I mean. We all have our limits and this is just one of those books that crossed the line for me.
I found it odd that Brax was just causally considering dying while Maxim & Serena continue to live on. Plus it was weird how they had a baby but it felt like there was no real connection there. and it would ALWAYS be sleeping. Anyway, Brax sleeping with his relative & the prospect of having intercourse in wolf form really felt uncomfy and way past what I was comfortable reading about.
No hard feelings towards the author at all. Those were my biggest drawbacks because I was simply uncomfortable.

I LOVED IT. Sure it could have been more into the MFM or into the dark personality of the new guy but it was an absolute delight. i loved the plot twist, I loved how the whole story evolved and I enjoyed so much the scenes with all three of them. I was a bit disappointed on the approach the author took regarding the immortality of the MMC (the original MMC) as in other PNR books, it could be possible to create a hybrid. The ending of the story left me with this disappointment that either Brax would be turned but he would lose his wolf or he will simply die, leaving Serena with Maxim.
In any case I liked more Maxim's character as I felt he was more intelligent and more alpha - well he was older after all...

Well this wasn’t what I thought it would be, based on reviews I kind of had an inkling but based on how this read starts I wasn’t sure, however in the end the finale was what it was supposed to be, with Brax, Serena and Maxim finding their HEA….together. Great story and plot, loved the characters, loads of angst, some distressing moments but oddly this read had some BDSM moments in it that put the initial love scenes to shame. I’m not usually into this type of love scene but they weren’t crude, and it made sense as both Maxim and Serena are vampires, but what was different was Brax and his position in this relationship. Overall a good series that lovers of supernatural reads should read.
Continuing where book 2 let off.... We're with newly mated Serena and Brax who are awaiting the birth of their 1st child. I really really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the Percy painting mystery. I have read some reviews mentioning that the 3rd person in their relationship came as a total surprise, to my way of thinking the Percy painting was given enough emphasis that I knew it was important. I loved the addition of Maxim and having Dakota around was also great I loved her as well. Spicy and steamy I loved every minute of it. Also love is not contained to certain parameters :)
This book really made me mad I didn’t want her with another mate I liked her and brax maxim just messed up the whole book to me I barely got threw the 1st I wouldn’t have read it if I knew she was gone end up with 2 men
I had no idea where this book was going but it was not what I was expecting. So just for the lols it gave me it gets 4 stars. Also I need another book. Them in old age, future Maxim. This book was worth suffering the whole series for. I feel as though the others were fillers to lead up to this.
I felt like the atmosphere of the book was too disconnected from the other two, to the point to the point I would have preferred a different series for this one.
I'm surprised to say that this was the best of the trilogy. I didn't really expect and I enjoyed the twist I finished it so fast and out of my mini slump
